TF700 browser entry question - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi. It takes a long while for the keyboard to respond when entering a URL.. I've tried many ROMs and different keyboards, every time the same.
Do others experience this too?

It's odd! this issue only with .18 version, where the work around was to switch to android keyboard as default (instead of using default Asus keyboard). If you are running the latest .20 this issue should be fixed.

I also don't see this issue with the .18-based CleanROM 2.3.

Sorry, on .20 when I highlight the entire URL and start typing a new site address the keyboard freezes and my new site URL starts to slowly appear. This is extremely annoying.

Hey guys when ever i take my tf300 out of it dock it either reloads the webpage or if im playing a game it sends me back to the home screen, is this normal and is there a way to stop it ????
something similar happens with mine - asus needs to address this. however I think that it may be fixed in an update - i'm stuck on .17

It has happened to me also, don't mind it though.

It's an unfortunate bug and happens with ALL transformers (Including my tf101). There's AFAIK no way to fix, and trust me I've looked Dx
It's extremely annoying to me when I'm riding in the car or on a bus (bumps and whatnot) and it disconnects from the dock constantly.
its not big problem its just annoying sometimes lol

Yes, happened also to me but it's only a little bug!
It seems HD apps handle this better, so I'm assuming for now that it's in the app's coding.
would mean that asus cant fix it its up to the devs???

Yep, per app devs, unless ASUS finds some sort of workaround.

Harware issue or do Asus just suck?

Hi
I got the Transformer Pad a few month ago and it was okay. A bit laggy sometimes and the browser FC now and then so I thougt Asus would fix this in an update so I didn't return the tablet, witch was a big misstake!
A few days ago it started to lag a lot and the browser freezed and most times it took 2-5 minutes to load a page. I googled and saw that some Motorola Zoom owners got this problem after updatig to ICS but some said that it was hardware issue.
I did a factory reset and the lag got better but the browser is still next to useless. I have tried different browsers and still have problems with all of them. Is there something wrong with my tablet or does Asus software just suck? Shuld I send the tablet in for repair or should I root it and flash another rom on it? (running stock now).
Sorry if the text is wierd, SwiftKey really suck sometimes.
just unlock and try out Hydro or Scotts Rom
Try using chrome or Firefox (beta)

Same **** with Chrome. I like stock browser better than Chrome sense Chrome zoom in on every page so I have to zoom out all the time. But I can standard it if it would work.

I had the same issue with my browser when I first got the tablet. Chrome is fine, but it crashes alot, and if you notice the changelogs for each version of Android they are always making changes/improvements to Chrome to keep it from acting so skiddish.
Just use Dolphin Browser. It syncs with google chrome so you have all your bookmarks and stuff, its blazing fast, and has tons of awesome add-ons.
search for browser2ram apk , its a miracle for stock browser
i use chrome and havent had any issues. Ionly used chrome thogh because of bookmarks, i didnt know dolphin browser did that too. Im gonna have to try that one.

Sluggish performance

So i just got my new pad and have been playing with it, closing, opening apps, and web browsing. I have found the tablet to be sluggish opening apps or responding to keyboard input in chrome. I didnt recieve any update when i first turned it on. Is there anything i can do?

What software version are you running? Did you click on check for update in the about section?

You are not on Power Saving mode, are you?
Power Saving mode saves battery but makes whole process stutter especially opening application you can see frames stutter and wish you had Buttery smooth Jelly bean there. But on balanced mode, I don't notice any and not sure if Jelly bean would do anything there... as it is already so smooth.
But as far as browser, if you have many applications running behind that may cause keyboard input delay. If not, recommend Cold reboot.

No matter what might go wrong in life the absolute very first thing I wish for is buttery smooth jelly bean. Just last week I was complaining about the price of gas and it made me wish for buttery smooth jelly bean.
I made sure im in high performance mode and checked the updates. Im running build # 9.4.5.22 with android version 4.0.3.its just discouraging since my galaxy nexus is so smooth. Im hoping a good rom comes out soon

I have also been experiencing some force closes for no reason. So far unimpressed...

I have the same problem as you as well as others. I'm on the updated firmware and am incredibly disappointed. I've been supporting Android since it was first released and absolutely love my Nexus phone. I've had a few Android tabs and they have all been lacking. I finally did something I swore that I would never do and used an iPad. I really didn't like it except that it operated so smooth and didn't crash. I ran out and bought this tab as I hoped it would work better so I could ditch the iPad. Unfortunately, my infinity lags when loading pages and Gmail, crashes when watching movies and Gmail, and refuses to open desktop version of websites. I am going to wipe and reload one more time and if it doesn't work, I will have to send it back. I really really want this tab to work.

You want to update to .26, tablet is so much better after update
Huh, after updating I thought this was the only non_lag android tablet I've used besides the Nexus 7 which is even faster. I've also not had force closes and the Primes browsing was ruined by that. Of course it has other issues because that's how Asus rolls.

no. mine came with .21 and i wasn't getting .26 OTA. you download it from the ASUS site, unzip it and put the resultant zip on the root of an sdcard. slot the sdcard in and you'll get an item in notification that there's an update available. bam.
search the forum for detailed instructions.
THAT SAID - although .26 is MUCH better than .21 IME, i still have performance issues with the 700. not so much that it's sluggish - but that the digitizer just stops accepting input periodically. it's definitely a software problem and it's definitely frustrating. haven't sussed out any culprits yet.
doody.

Chrome on this tablet sucks indeed. Use dolphin, 324% faster, trust me I tested it And like the post above says just download the firmware from the Asus website!

Apparently, dolphin is a bigger botnet than chrome. And that's saying something.

By botnet do you mean the tracking? I mean, we are on Android, it exists for Google to increase their ad information capabilities. It is what it is.
I don't use their sync service, and I don't like their regular browser at all but the new Dolphin beta is pretty amazing. It might be the fastest mobile browser I've ever tried.

[Q] Notepad + keyboard

so last night i was riding in a car and needed to take some notes, popped open my tablet with the keyboard because it was a bumpy road and figured using my fingers on the screen would be hopeless to get the amount of information as quickly as it needed to get put down.. so i tried two different tablet apps i had installed (no internet at the time to find others) and both wouldn't let me use the keyboard to take notes... both wanted stylus/finger mode only... I also tried to use google drive but it wouldn't let me create anything new in offline mode.
any options here folks that one can think of? im not really interested in installing 1000+ notepad apps on the market to find one via brute testing..
thanks.
Supernote. It comes pre installed on the transformer TF300 and works quite well

For those who run Browser2Ram on their stock browser, does this fix the lag and chopp

Hello,
I am using stock browser which works exceptionally well when javascript is disabled. However, I loose some functionality to any website with embedded javascripts. On my TF700 I'm finding that it is the only thing that's crashing my browsers and even at times locking/rebooting my system.
As the title suggests, anyone here running Browser2Ram with javascript enabled? Does it still run smooth, no lag or lock ups? Any other suggestions for a javascript fix? I'm holding off from rooting my device to see if there are any other solutions posted.
Thx in advance.

in desktop mode with browser2ram, both sites are working fine. On espn, some videos are not working due to hulu content, for unlocked device, hulu won't work, but you are not so it should be fine.
