There is a new ota version HTC Europe 2.10.401.10 and my phone wants to install it, but I think because it's rooted, it will not install.
Gives after download a reboot of the phone and then the known triangle with the ! and the little green man.
I have the ota file, but now... how to install it.
Tried to install it with the clockwork mod, but after unpacking several files it stops.
Then the only way is, battery out, start again the phone.
Inside the zip:
fota boot file
zip file with firmware containing img files
dir META-INF with some stuff
Patch
System
Anybody an idea ?
Bump this, so some dev can go through it and tell what's inside.

I can post the ota somewhere, tried to attach it ( it's not zo big ).
It's on: http://www.filehosting.org/file/det...2.10.401.8_release_291605w4rfssh5zzlsqicy.zip
Hmm there is a new radio inside and all apps gets patched. Really interesting. And it seems to be pushed for all European countries, not a single region patch as it was 2.10.401.9
Which ROM are you using? If it is deodexed this will be the reason for the OTA to not apply

This is what I tried so far.
Renamed it to update, failed after unpacking 3 or 4 files.
Install it with clockwork, install zip, not working.
Called HTC Netherlands, it is an important patch solving several problems, they said to remove some third party software...
It's S-OFF with a official unlock key from HTC, and it's rooted.
I Use the original HTC Rom on it.
I must say, I don't have much problems, but the phone keeps trying pushing it, even with the update check off.
There must be a way of pushing this in my phone.. not some parts of it, but just all..

My knowledge is not that good, I can root and unroot and if there is a tut I can follow it, but there ends it, maybe other people have something benefit of the ota, then I am happy
Hello,
after long time struggling around, i came to conclusion, that GingerBread was the best, that my phone could get.
I would like to relock everything, return phone to stock conditions and install 2.10.401.10 downloaded from HTC dev.
Yes, for sure, i can install prerooted 2.10.401.9 here from forums. But i would like to go official, because i also want to install application from bank etc, so i need to be as safe as possible.
What do i have to do ?
My current status is:
*** LOCKED ***

I am currently running prerooted 2.10.401.9 rom
EDIT: Ok, for future use. I have used this to fool phone of being older version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399331. Then installed oldest RUU and updated over OTA up to 2.10.401.8. So no this version for me, what is odd, as long as i have non operator phone.

Hi all,
I got the Android 2.3.4 OTA update, downloaded and installed it. The Sensation switched on right after update. The HTC boot screen came up, the boot-up sound played, AND THE SCREEN WENT BLANK!!
Now, I know the phone is actually ON, because I can call it from another phone and it rings. Also, the regular gesture on the screen to answer a call works too, but still, nothing shows on the display.. it's totally BLANK..
How can i solve this issue?? Thanks in advance
Try flashing a RUU again, there's a thread with all available RUUs here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559
If you have a Tmobile Sensation then select TMOUS and open it after it downloads, and follow instructions. If it doesn't work, you should put the warranty to use if it has warranty.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Just wanted to note to you that my phone has never been rooted or has never had any custom firmware or any such thing done. This was the only OS update i've done since i bought it. Other than that, only tiny apps and games have been installed.
Also, the phone is not locked to any network.
Does your instruction still apply? if so, please let me know the way ahead. Thanks again

Yes, the RUU is a file that you open and it's like an OTA update but for computer, something like that. I have a Tmobile Sensation and I flashed this one:
RUU_Pyramid_TMOUS_1.29.531.2_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_193714_signed
It's the latest leaked RUU I think, and it's the same version that came with my phone when I got it. I used it to get S-ON too after S-Off and rooting. There's a tutorial for that too here if you want to root. Let me know how it works.

Yea, that's the thing, my friend. I don't want to do anything like rooting/unrooting etc. etc. all i want is my phone's screen to start working.
before the 2.3.4 OTA update, I had Android 2.3.3 on my phone. is there any way to go back to that version of Android?
You not rooting/unrooting. You're just flashing the stock ROM back onto the phone. See it as reformating a PC hard drive for a clean installation. You will lose all data, mind

aah ic.. apologies for my stupid questions.. i'me truly a newbie when it comes to stuff like this..
can you please give me directions on which RUU to choose and how to go about doing the installation? umm... please...? *innocent eyes*
Haven't tried taking the battery out yet..? First thing I would do
Hi Tirozz,
Yea i've done all of that:
- took off battery, put it in after 30 seconds, switched it on
- did hard reset by going into that special mode by pressing power and volume down
- took off memory card and switched on
still nothing..
MicroWise, there is a way to get back to Android 2.3.3. Download this RUU if you have a Tmobile Sensation:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/cb7...00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_193714_signed.exe
Open it in your Windows PC and follow the instructions, then you'll have the stock Android 2.3.3 back again.
If you don't have the TMobile one, download the corresponding one from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559
Let me know how it goes.
I had the same problem,
& i solve it by installing the previous ROM & don't flash the update
install your compatible Rom form the thread above,

my sensation is not a Tmobile.. infact its not tied to ANY operators.. and doesn't have any operator logos on it either.. it is not network locked.. so which RUU do i use from there?
I don't know how to help you now :/
Check the RUU forum thread and ask if someone has a RUU for your HTC. Or you can try rooting and getting SuperCID so you can flash any RUU file, but it's easier to ask on the forum thread for your compatible RUU file.
Alright, Thanks a lot, dude.

No, there's no way to get S-OFF apart from using a XTC Clip.
What you can get is a temp root while S-ON, but without write permission in system directories.
I'm not sure about this (someone can correct me if I'm wrong), but I believe you can't even flash OTA Factory ROMs without S-OFFing this phone.
It is what it is, if you want a high end android look elsewhere- if you want a keyboard there ain't many options.
It could be better I agree- but junk?

curious. i'll try this when I go home tonight.
since I'm in Brazil, I had to unlock my phone... paid 10 USD for it. it's just a code, there are a lot of websites which generate them automagically if you send your ChaCha's IMEI and 10 bucks.

That doesn't tell us how to S-OFF. Just install a recovery, which we already have a guide for.

but we can't install a custom recovery being S-ON. can we?
actually, I'm trying to understand what S-ON users can do... I already know that it's impossible to install OTA ROMs, but it's possible to temproot if you have a specific ROM version.
well, I think I've read so many posts and threads that I'm already confusing the information on my head.

Truly, you are confused
S-ON users have little power of their mobile device.. They cannot install a custom recovery, a custom rom, a different area/language rom (for example, I cannot install Asia rom on my Europe ChaCha since the CIDs are different) and so on. Yet I find it hard to believe that flashing CWM over the S-ON HBOOT will give you S-OFF. The engineering S-ON is a security flag set for bootloader protection.
If anyone wants to try this, feel free to do it but don't get your hopes up and don't be mad if it won't work. As you can see in the link, on the last page, they have a screenshot with a so called S-OFF'ed device, yet HBOOT is still S-ON. So there is no proof of it.

I did not realize that this phone still had an unlocked bootloader when I purchased it a few days ago. It's unfortunate how the HTC Unlocker was glitchy with the MT4GS; it might be why there's such a lack of development right now, haha.

I think we can start shelving the idea that there's a lack of dev for the device - some definite strides being made in that direction now.
We could always use more people helping make stuff, though.
----
I need a copy of an S-ON bootloader that has not been unlocked.
I need both S-ON 1.44.0007 and S-ON 1.45.0013 - if anyone can get either to me that would be great.
They are only 1MB in size and can be attached to a post in the forum.
If you can get it - attach it as a reply to this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254518
The terminal command to back up a copy of it is:
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12 of=/sdcard/hboot.img
That will place a copy of your hboot on your sdcard, called hboot.img, if run from a terminal.
Nlarge got his unlocked S-ON bootloader added to that thread, now we need some regular S-ON ones to compare them to. If anyone can figure out how to get one to us it would be helpful.
We are trying to work the S-ON issue, but it's not exactly an easy nut to crack and we've mostly just started.
Thanks for any help that can be provided. This may not be all we need, but it's a start.
Hasn't anyone been able to flash the original PG59IMG.zip via the OTAbootloader patch?

Cool, we'll look it over and see what we come up with. No promises, just gonna look and see what we see and hope it leads to something.
The hboot may or (more likely) may not be the whole problem for s-off/s-on, but the more we have to play with the more we are learning.

Okay, we are working on that, etn4off is leading the charge on adb through stock recovery, so hold that thought.
Meantime, i've whipped up a new version of the stock restore .zip file, that should work on the new OTA.
( Make sure you have a full battery first!)
Edit - didn't work
What you have to do is rename the file to:
PG59IMG.zip
...then place on the main directory of your sdcard.
Make sure fastboot is turned off in settings on the phone, and then power off.
Hold Volume Down and press Power to turn it on, booting into hboot. The installer will take over from there and guide you through it.
It will load itself, then ask you to press Volume UP to install - then does it's thing and will tell you to press power to reboot when it is done.
This is basically the same restore file you get from here: Thread Link updated for the new OTA.
This should solve the version mismatch problem people were having, but won't know until someone tries to install it.
Afterwards you can run Revolutionary to S-OFF your 1.44.0007 hboot.
You will no longer be on the newest OTA, but then you can apply it if you want and go back - as long as you run the Revolutionary process on the 1.44.0007 hboot before you do.
I'm going to try this asap

No. That's why I said we won't know until someone tries.
I've run the package on both of my devices, so can attest to it working - but they are both s-off.
I've run it from the device in the newest OTA form, and it brought me back, but the old package did too - seems no version check on my devices (probably any s-off devices)
I've run from all versions of the hboot - 1.44.0006, 1.44.0007, 1.44.1107, and 1.45.0013, but they were all s-off.
As for what happens with an s-on device... ...? I updated the version because in another thread that was pinpointed as the problem for it not installing on the newest OTA.

Okay thanks, it was pretty much an 'it will do it or it won't' situation, so we'll have to try something else.
I wish I could get an s-on device in my hands that I could try stuff on - for now it's test and test and test on the s-off, then try on the s-on ...
Sorry it didn't work, we'll have to try another way.
I'll give this a try as well, even though it supposedly doesn't work. Better try than not.
Is what you're trying to do make the older ROM (with the 1.44.0007 HBOOT) appear as an update to the newer update so we can, in a way, downflash to the older HBOOT that's compatible with the Revolutionary tool?
I'm kind of new to the whole Android scene and am just curious as to how things work.

If this flashes it should revert the phone back to retail launch - but it's probably not going to. Finding a way to force it could have a less then desirable outcome.
If it doesn't take, don't try to force the issue with it unless you know what you're doing and why.
Well I tried it as well and it got a check, but it didn't install anything. I wish I had the know-how to mess around with this stuff.

Is that the JB RUU for the normal HTC One S S4?
yes that is for ville S4
ruu rom.zip
i extract android-info.txt from rom.zip .the file is corrupt?
did any one flash this ruu
Recent RUUs have ROM.zip files within that appear corrupt but still flash in hboot properly. They've been purposefully obfuscated by HTC. Beyond that, I haven't been following along to know if anyone's published how to decrypt these, or if people have been using other methods to extract the contents.
thx

ok it mean ruu is perfect not corrupted
It should be -- I probably won't have a chance to check this out until the weekend. The RUU.exe should be digitally signed by HTC. As long as that is OK, then you know that anything coming out of it is what HTC published. That said, I'm not sure how one would go about verifying that it's really HTC's certificate.
Give me some time. Gonna decrypt it and make a stock base soon

Awesome, I didn't realize that'd been done.
Which has me wondering: Can these be flashed on S-OFF devices? (I can't imagine why they wouldn't work.)
Also: Is there any chance you'll post a decrypted ROM.zip for this once you're done? If that's a taboo thing I'm asking for, I understand.
What's the difference between this and the JB OTA zip that's in the RUU sticky? I undertand that this is an RUU so we can recovery with this, but is it a big change from the JB zip, meaning would it even be worth making a ROM from it since we already have a JB zip to use as a base?

The radio can be pulled out, if nobody didn't do so. It would be quicker if a new dev wants to make a ROM. It has advantages

Yea, but the release on this is 301814, and the zip is 301852...so I would assume the zip is a bit newer, even though this is a new leak.

Understandable. However, you can't really take an OTA and make that into a base
I'll just make a base and if anyone wants to use it, they are more than free to do so.
Stock, rooted and deodexed. All I ask is to give me credit for making the base. Enjoy!

Disregard... Stupid question...
Thx hasoon2000. This will be the base for my own ROM.

This will flash the system and kernel partitions. For the kernel to flash, the user will need to have s-off

Hi and thanks Hasoon.
You did the conversion. That is good. However, the OTA was not a normal diff OTA, it contained a full ROM. It was basically the RUU without the RUU
I have another issue with this RUU. It says corrupted. Yes, that's been discussed on the first page. But the RUU itself also reporst an image error when trying to flash it to the phone. Which is, bluntly speaking, a hint towards a corrupted file. I redownloaded it three times on two different machines and connections and it keeps failing to flash, throwing that image error.
Maybe i am missing some prerequisites here. Maybe the phone needs to be in a certain condition to flash that. Maybe someone can enlighten me here? Thanks.
I made this for myself a while ago, and I noticed that there wasn't a deodexed ROM on the VilleC2 forum so I figured I'd make it generic and put it up to save people having to make one. It's not meant to be anything crazy as it's just a ROM I made for myself. It's basically stock with a couple of small edits to make it a bit more usable
Features:
Latest official 3.19.401.101
Android 4.1.1
Sense 4+
Bloat removed
Deodexed or Odexed
Init.d support
Rooted w/ Busybox
Sense 5 app icons
System r/w

Because this is a JB ROM, you need the latest HBOOT to install and use this ROM.
I see no reason why you can't install this over ICS as long as you have the correct HBOOT (but I haven't tried this).
Installation:
Download the .zip and place it on your SD Card.
Install the .zip via TWRP recovery.
Wipe dalvik/cache.
If you're S-OFF, you're done - just reboot and you're set.
If not, flash the boot.img from inside the .zip in fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
NOTE: the kernel is stock with r/w enabled, not completely stock. [Taken from flar's post]

Oh, and as a side note: the first boot on the deodexed version will take a while but it will get there. Afterwards it'll boot quickly, as normal.

Thank you man, I was looking for something like this for a long time now .
Later edit :
Is not starting . Stuck at HTC ONE screen. I tried twice and waited for ~20minutes to boot .. nothing. I am not S-off so I flash boot.img.. in case it matters. I installed Viper 3.0.2 after and all went smooth
My HBOOT is 3.01.0000, so is that the last HBOOT?
And after flash this ROM, is my HBOOT 3.19?

That's odd, let me take a quick look at what it might be. Sure HBOOT is correct?
Edit: Just re-flashed the .zip and it was sat on HTC One boot screen for just over two minutes so I figure something is wrong down your end.

This ROM doesn't include the latest firmware, but there's another post containing that in the C2 forum somewhere. FYI, I'm on 3.01.0000 HBOOT and I received the final OTA for the One S, so it figures that's the final HBOOT.
can you upload some photos please
3.19.401.101 isn't latest official, better rebase it to patched 401.102 since they fixed some stuff there and it has better battery life.

Why you people don't use Q&A forum for asking this questions? Stop hijacking threads with questions like this - it's arrogant, lazy and impolite.
If you are T-MOB004 you can run European 2.15 RUU which will update you to latest 4.0.4 release and change your CID to HTC_032 and then you'll have option to OTA flash 4.1.1. Don't forget to lock bootloader before running RUU.

Ok, weird because I just reverted to complete stock and it wasn't suggested. Must be a specific part of Europe it was designed for, let me take a look
Edit 1: the OTA is in patch form (as in it gets integrated to the current files instead of replacing), so unless I get the chance to install it onto my device and so on I can't do anything about it. I might do it when I get the chance though
Edit 2: Looking at the files it doesn't seem that anything major was patched, and in terms of battery life I can get 36 hours + on this as it is - you might want to try the Bulletproof kernel as well if you're not satisfied

The HTC Sync Manager says after installing this:
"Device Locked" Unable to recognize your device because the device is locked. Please unlock the device and then reconnect your device.
USB debugging is enabled and the screen is unlocked.
I know most of you probably don't use the sync manager, but I would like to import my ITunes playlists and I don't know any other way.
Can the Sync manager be made to work with this? Is it even related to this ROM?
EDIT: okay, I disabled USB debugging and the sync manager recognized the phone
I think this is best ROM for one S, for everyone who wants excellent battery life, when you install ROM turn on Power saver on, and enjoy. Thank you ZackehSoul for sharing this rom
Using this as my daily driver now with liberty kernel. Thanks.
