I've seen the lapdock used by things other than a phone
http://cdn3.sbnation.com/entry_phot...apdock_1_JPG_large_verge_medium_landscape.jpg
http://www.adafruit.com/adablog/wp-...10/RaspberryPi_MotorolaLapdock_MobileWill.jpg
So I can only assume it's just a hdmi monitor and usb hub/keyboard. What does it do when you plug the phone in?

Photon Q have no Webtop Mode inside like Droid4. My Atrix Lapdock also doesn't work as Webtop (only as Monitor)

Is there an apk or root method or hack or something to enable it to work? I wanna able to use my keyboard and everything else

Not even by a root and installing files that was extracted from a phone that had it? Not possible? I remember seeing someone post they had it working with the OG evo but idk remember where i seen it and how they did it and exactly what did n didnt work but they were using the 2 together

Anyone have any luck getting webtop or something similar on the photon q?
My brother gave me one of the clearanced atrix lapdocks for Christmas. I took apart the docking section and got the connectors out so it will hook up to the photon Q... As reported, it mirrors the screen and charges the photon Q no problem...
Has anyone figured out a way of getting the webtop or something similar on the photon Q, which will let the lapdock mouse/keyboard work with it?
Thanks!

also interested in this. using the bionic dock and only get mirroring. It would be awesome if we could figure out a way for these docks to just communicate with the Q in mirror mode. I'd rock that.

any one get mouse/keyboard working with it? i can get mouse or keyboard to work via otg cable but not the hub inside the lapdock itself

ICS Webtop

Well I plugged in my HDMI cable to see what would happen after and it presented me with a chooser than included Webtop! I tapped it and boom... no ubuntu, but a tablet view. Anyone have a lapdock to see if this is the new webtop for sure?

Nope ubuntu is now gone... I am planning a new hack to bring ubuntu back, I still have the old webtop files and all the scripts that make it run... so that is in the works.

Awesome man, thank you. I like the tablet view but would MUCH prefer Ubuntu
Yeah, this is the new "webtop" its 3.0. Droid razr users have the same thing, I doNT have a lap dock to test this, but I've been super curious as to if there would be any webtop without the actual dock connectors. Thank you for confirming this though!

I would like the choice to do both. It would seem to me that if they are just doing tablet view, then the old webtop partition would be unused. I would like the choice to do tablet view or "old" webtop.

Now that the thread is resurrected, ill say this, the only huge advancement for the new webtop is that all multilang key assignments there are on android, work for the lapdocks hw layout, where as for ubuntu, there were only a couple of choices.

Total noob here with a good sense of adventure :cyclops: I have the lapdock (modified so i can dock my A2) and been using it for the pass three days running ICS! Comparing it to the old webtop this one is much easier to use and faster, youtube and netflix run smoothly, everything worsk well while on wifi and using my bluetooth headset also the tether works as well after i did the mod :good:
I want to thank jimbridgman and everyone else who i cant think of right now that has made this possible.
Some launchers can not display correctly in the new webtop 3.0.0.
And HDMI mirror mode can not be used in portrait.
Webtop 2 vs 3

I have compared two of them side by side. There is no true netbook/desktop experience in webtop 3. there is no firefox. Even if you view desktop sites on ICS chrome, they look crappy, the resolution is suboptimal. Webtop 2 had google docs and citrix support (that was awesome, I could do my office work and make presentations), Webtop 3 doesnt. I have lapdock 500 and ICS on 14 inch screen doesnt look pretty. It looks overstretched. It cant utilize the full resolution of lapdock 500s screen.

this is true, its much better to use stock ics launcher in SCV7 too. you can find it in the leaks .zip along with the configurator apk
HOW on earth is anyone managing to get Webtop mode to even engage on the Atrix 2 running ICS?? I plug mine into the Lapdock 500 and it just automatically goes straight into landscape mirror mode, every single time, NEVER Webtop/tablet mode ever!! It gives me no choice at all ever, it just mirros the phone's landscape display with the notification bar still at the top, not at the bottom as it should be in tablet mode. I am running the first/original ICS leak pure, but have also tried custom ROMs such as ScV7. Same result every time.
What am I doing wrong??

I have gotten it to work now as well after disabling the "Entitlement Check" nonsense that was preventing webtop from activating correctly. Now I have another problem though, in that the mouse pointer/cursor is a gigantic white arrow that takes up a lot of space on screen.. Under the original pure ICS leak it was a regular small/normal pointer, but under the latest ScV7 ROM it's enormous. I'm wondering whether any of the wizards here know how to replace this with a more usable pointer arrow..?

you have probably firuged that out by the time i write this, but when your phone is booted up while connected to the dock, the mouse will be a big android icon... just unconnect and connect the phone, it will be fine.

Actually, under the ScV7 ROM I was finding that every other time I'd connect the phone to the lapdock, even already fully on and booted, I'd get the gigantic white mouse pointer. It would alternate between that and the proper smaller black one, each time I disconnected and reconnected. Perhaps I did something wrong during flashing/setup and it isn't the fault of the ROM. However on stock original first leak it always works correctly, and on the near-stock second leak ROM it also seems to be okay.

Using atrix 4g lapdock with atrix hd phone, but the screen isn't filled! Please help!

Hello! I recently modded an atrix4g lapdock for use with my atrix hd. All systems are go except for the screen. It's like a widescreen movie, but worse! I need help ásap please. I think possibly installing a different webtop environment would remedy this, but I've not the means to procure it. Please help me figure this out, i want my little brother to have a "laptop" lol.

[Q] How to use a xBox One Controller?

Hey guys!

Pretty sure you can't do that. Only with a 360 controller, and it needs to be a wired one.
Well, thanks kinda disapointing.
But I still got a old PS3 Controller, and its working with most of my games.
Expect the menus in Portal and Half Life 2. Is there a way to fix that? I cant scroll through them

Just found a video showing that the xBox One Controller is compatible with "USB/BT Joystick Center "2015"". I got the App, but my tablet still dont recognize it. Is this just a Shield problem?

The Xbox one controller uses neither USB or Bluetooth, so I find that hard to believe.
Was the guy in the video actually using it on his phone/tablet?

Just a quick update for everyone who got the same problem.
Looks like the stock rom seriously dislikes the xBox one controller.
So everyone who is willing to flash another ROM. After flashing unoffical CM12.1 the controller is working like a charm with an OTG cable.

No problem, man. Just try to not sound so aggressive next time. Mistakes happen.
So, I am currently a bit confused about this thread. Is it somehow possible on stock or not?
I recently tried the XBox One controller via cable on KitKat stock, but to no avail.
A wireless controller for PC isn't available until later this year, so I don't think this is a valid solution right now.
Xbox One controllers do not transmit data via USB ever.
The usb on the XBO controller is for charging only.
It is a wireless only controller as far as data is concerned.
You will never ever get usb to work because ghe controller does not have that capability with any system. It is an all wireless controller except fof charging.
That is why the guy who said you have to use a wireless pc reciever is correct.
Sorry there is no possible work around as the usb port doesnt physically support data transmission.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
But it is news at all. It is good to know.
Has anybody tried the wireless XBox One so far?

100% untrue. Xbox One Controller works via USB on my Windows 10 computer, no additional drivers. I don't have any wireless adapters or Bluetooth installed.
Unfortunately, this isn't the case with android. Neither USB/Wireless will work without support from Microsoft.

You will find that windows automatically installed drivers for the xbox one pad as it did for me when i plugged it in. due to being a MS device it has its own repository to aquire the driver from and as such may of updated without you even noticing
EDIT: i stand corrected as of windows 10 the driver is bundled into windows, but there is still a driver, its just windows 7 and 8.x users that need to run a driver update to download them, again this would happen when they plug in the pad anyway

Inaccurate statement, you are just the bearer of in correct information
so all that is really needed is for someone to figure out how to port the usb drivers that windows uses for the xbox one pad (which is fully supported over usb on my gaming pc as well) to an android version. I am very tempted to scour the net for any such development already occuring, failing that i will mayb e develop it myself with the people who are developing on the Nvidia tablet who achieved root on it in the first place. I am considering buying one of these devices myself, but i may look to see if a newer version is in the pipeline anytime soon and if there is save my money for that one. if only they had a shield tablet x1 edition like the tv box
No need to keep quoting me.
I was provided and in turn provided inaccurate information.
I apologize.

I don't believe it does. I remember trying it once, when I first got the phone and it didn't. I'll try again when I get home. I don't remember which adapter I have, but I'll check.
