Hello, I'm using the latest ViperS Rom for my sensation. Just wanted to ask if anyone has the problem of downloads pausing or canceling when put the browser in background? For me, downloading from hosting sites that doesn't support resume of download they usually just fail when I put the browser in background. For sites that support resume, they sometimes pause, and resumes either from the point it paused or resumed from start again, or sometimes also fails. I've tried multiple browsers available and with no luck.
1. Stock htc browser: fails upon putting in background no matter resumable or not.
2. Dolphin browser: immediately fails upon putting in background for not resumable downloads and pauses for resumable downloads. Downloads start from 0% when reopening browser.
3. Boat browser: sometimes works for downloads with small size.
4. Firefox: fails like stock browser.
I've tried 3rd party download managers but can't seem to make anything work out. I've also tried adjusting min free to the maximum multitasking but also with no luck. Is there any way or do I just have to stick with opening the browser until the download finishes?
Thanks in advance.

For me on Viper, Firefox works like a charm on the background and if I can recall stock did as well. If those didn't work maybe try ICS Browser+ or Chrome. See if either of those work and check to see if it's your SD card.

Oh I forgot to include chrome as well. For me, chrome is the worst in downloading in background. Fails immediately like dolphin. I'll try ics browser+ like you suggest. Also, stock browser usually fails to download certain files from hosting sites.

Hi
I am unable to watch flash videos through browser on infuse. It says a plugin is required and when i click that it takes to adobe flash page. But flash page mentions that this OS is not supported for flash. I have installed flash 10.3 from market but still doesnt work. Any help?
Thanks
open the browser, hit menu>more>settings>enable plugins>always on
edit:
if that doesnt work look into the "hulu fix" found in the forums for other devices. it may not be recognising the build of the flash plugin, the hulu fix plugin is modified to fake the windows plugin, if it doesnt want to play with the browser, type "about:useragent" (no quotations) into the address bar and set it to desktop, you may also have to clear cookies to get it to work on sites like hulu that intentionally block mobile devices for licence reasons.
if the browser is sluggish then try opera mobile browser, stock android browser can be sluggish on the hummingbird with 2.2. it is way better with gingerbread, unfortunately that will have to wait for a good kernel dev to port over.

Because you are using stock browser, try opera, not the mini okay.
Reason why I like opera browser, if you set flash on demand, when you click the okay on one flash it only plays that single flash that you click, while dolphin and stock browser set "on demand" if you click one flash, every flash on the web page plays, that is why it is sluggish.

I use stock browser and love it, no lag with flash on. Only downside is that 720p flash videos are slow as hell. 360p videos work the best with great frame rates.
Not Youtube, but from a browser. On the Vibrant, when you chose a video from a website it gave you the option to stream it to your video player, or you could hit web and it would download it and store it on the SD card. With the G2X it only gives me the option to stream it to video player. I tried different browsers, the same thing happens with Dolphin, Opera comes closest but says cannot download unsupported file type. I know MP4 is a supported file type. Anyone found a solution for this?
I'm very interested myself.
Been trying to find the answer? U^
Yeah, no luck. Tried different browsers, looked all through settings it just doesn't work. Probably going to have to replace whatever apk controls it. Maybe the browser.

This sucks but no phone is perfect. Wondering... I might just switch phones with android all that matters is how the phone looks. Roms come and go...
Opera mini on 3g would give me the option to download but then says I don't heave enough memory.
Well you can download videos from the Youtube site just follow this guide ---> http://www.knowyourcell.com/lg/lg-g...ad_and_save_youtube_videos_on_the_lg_g2x.html
Or on Firefox mobile you can download the Video DownloadHelper add-on to download videos from any site.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
No idea how to find that addon
video download helper is for the pc right? How does that help with the phone?
EDIT: So with firefox when you click on a flashplayer video it downloads it. Guess it's a start. Kind of sucks having to watch it on flashplayer on regular browser then go to firefox to download it but at least you can download.
I can view anything at or above 360p from YouTube via default or dolphin browser?
The default YouTube app sucks dong cuz it buffers forever and I can't change quality of video...
If anyone know why I can't choose 360p in browser please let me know.
In the YouTube app there is HD button to switch between SD HD.
If you visit the desktop version of YouTube on the xoom you will have the same options as you would on your computer.
If you don't know how to do that search for about:debug ua string.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
I am running desktop UA but YouTube would not play anything above 360p in browser.
Is it only me?
I prefer YouTube in browser than the dumb app.
Same issue here, seems to have just started a couple of days ago as it worked fine before when watching 720p in the browser. Now no videos work in pluse, stock browser or dolphin. Just get "an error, try back later". So then I click to go to the YouTube page for the video and still does not work. The only way to work is to swtich the ua string to android, I use the dolphin toggle extension but it is very annoying to have to do this all the time, I don't want to view mobile site on my tablet. Wtf is Google doing this, why block tablets from seeing HQ video, the main differentiation between their offerings and the ipad.
My guess, something to do with copyright. I personally think that its stupid to block mobile video in the first place.
I have had no issues. 720p plays in browser. Check your settings for playback on the YouTube site. If that don't work. Clear data for browser. That will loose all your bookmarks etc though.

R u using desktop ua or android?
I have no problems with it either way. If its android it just loads the mobile then I click on open desktop site. When on desktop it just goes right to desktop of course. No issues.
Cant watch any videos on the desktop site now.

You should be able to watch 240p
You're right, but that sucks.
Are you guys having the problem with stock Adobe Flash or only the modified version of Adobe Flash for hulu.com support?

Youtube doesn't even play for me with the flash from manta rom...
I have the modified hulu version.
am also using modified hulu version....
In my version of the hulu flash, all I modified was the version number and from Android to Windows so unless youtube now actually verifies the version number along with the version type, that may be the reason. There is a new version of Adobe Flash released yesterday, I will modify it as usual and will report the results here since I can't do much with hex editing as that is the only known hack.

can you post please because I would like to watch YT on my xoom again.
If you all are still having troubles with your Youtube on the Stock Browser, Dolphin, Opera, or Firefox, can you please give me some more details on your settings?
When you say "Desktop Browser" are you refering to www.youtube.com and forcing it to stay that way or is it going to www.youtube.com and then changing to the mobile version, m.youtube.com?
(Only Stock Browser) Have you done the "Aboutebug" (Without quotes) mode and change your browser to LOOK like a desktop UI?
~~If you are using the "Aboutebug" Mode, are you running on Wi-Fi only or are you running 3g?
(Dolphin/Opera Browsers only) Have you gone in and changed the settings to make it look like a Desktop Browser or are you still allowing it to display as a Android Device?
When the videos do work, have you tried to clear your Cache and History to keep the information in the buffer low when you are just getting ready to watch videos/just after you are done watching videos? (I ask because I noticed on my Wi-Fi Stock Rooted Rom that if you do not use the Youtube App, it bogs down the Cache and the History just gets cluttered...)
Are you making sure there are not other applications running too and choking out the Browser UI's? (aka, getting a task manager and killing apps before you go into another app)
I hope to help you out, as well as others in the near future (be it advice or with the same problem) and get this problem resolved!
Thank You for the information in advance! ^_^
Sure,
When you say "Desktop Browser" are you refering to www.youtube.com and forcing it to stay that way or is it going to www.youtube.com and then changing to the mobile version, m.youtube.com?
=> No, I'm using desktop UA string so it is always www.youtube.com. I have to manually go to m.youtube.com.
(Only Stock Browser) Have you done the "Aboutebug" (Without quotes) mode and change your browser to LOOK like a desktop UI?
~~If you are using the "Aboutebug" Mode, are you running on Wi-Fi only or are you running 3g?
=> I have WIFI xoom so WIFI only.
(Dolphin/Opera Browsers only) Have you gone in and changed the settings to make it look like a Desktop Browser or are you still allowing it to display as a Android Device?
=> Yes, I am using desktop UA in dolphin as well. I don't see why using mobile UA on the tablet is usefull at all.
=> Videos ONLY WORK for me at 260p....doesn't matter whether I clear cache or history.
Are you making sure there are not other applications running too and choking out the Browser UI's? (aka, getting a task manager and killing apps before you go into another app)
=> Yes, rebooted and only running browser...tried many many times.
hello i woul like to know which brower is better for rapidshare and megaupload downloads, cuz every time i try to download files it saves as htm's.
Try opera it works fine for me.

Hi onedowg,
I am also using Opera Mobile not mini and it works fine for downloading files in my case mainly Avi's and MKv's hope that solves your problem.
Marc
I have seen this issue on some of the Samsung phones I work on. If you want to use any browser and still download files. Download astro file manager, then go into its settings and enable download any file types (something like that). I only use AStro just for that as I personally like Root Explorer better for everything else that you would need a file manager for.
Hope that helps you out some.
I use Firefox.
Sent from my Captivate
I use Miren on my phone and Xoom - lil buggy on Xoom but it works for those types of downloads
I use Dolphin and download from filesonic, fileserve and megaupload all the time. But I can't get any of the browsers to work with hotfile. Can't seem to add my login info.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
Dolphin hd for me i can download any file type but dolphin for me won't download from Filesonic it downloads .htm. So I use firefox to download from Filesonic.

Mine plays fine just watched a few videos in HQ on cellular data, and tried on wi-fi no issues here...
using ultimate 2.2 rom
This really pisses me off. I watch YouTube like all the time. I have a G2 and that has no problems.
G2x just has issues and this YouTube debacle is like the final insult. Browser has stopped forced close on 174 but was forced to stop browser. Its is only two.issues affecting cm 2.3.7
Switched back to nightlies
also Netflix stopped working so went to a backup. No video just audio
miui is a cyan base rom
and the browser version works ok but the youtube app is giving loading issues
so y u just open youtube from browser?easy and same as youtube app
or u can uncheck option that force u to use mobile site
so u can open youtube as desktop site
much better really couse u have all feature of desktop site
full screen
like comments while watching
playlist etc
Yeah my YouTube app takes way to long to load. The browser works fine for me though

Try using the latest cm nightly.
it's the rom.... i also had the issue and i still do even with EB 2.3.5 and as well as the cm7 stabled Gb version.... not only with the youtube app but on some of the websites had flash issues where videos were just green lines. so i switched back to EB 2.3.3 stock Gb version. Devs are working as to finding out the problem but still no luck.
I tried the latest nightly 174 and loaded videos instantly this morning.
Will keep trying the Nightly ROMs. Will report back if I encounter the issue again.
Prefer the Youtube app, just faster.
Youtube and G2X usb mount
I am having these two issues first I noticed that phone is no more recognized by windows as usb and now this youtube issue of CM stable 7.1 , I was really liking this CM. If someone is there reading these and can help please help.
thanks
glad to know its not just me and more about the problem
i really hope this gets fixed soon but was it ever stated as an issue before so others could become more aware and hopefully put it in more demand for a fix or something?
Youtube Slow issue found
What I did I uninstalled both adobe flash player and youtube app and using dolphin web browser for youtube. I tried all those videos again through dolphin and got the instant response on my almost 2mega Byte connection. So, I guess I have to live without youtube app.

Well I recently switched from LG Stock Rom to CM7.1 stable on my P990, and have the same issue. I'm glad that its not just me having slow loading of YouTube videos on the phone. Thanks for sharing the information that the nightly build of CM might help solve the issue. How many others have been successful with that build?
I can confirm that recent nightly builds are no longer causing slow loading of videos in YouTube app. I installed CM7.1 #204
I'm happy
