[Q] Anyones phone already broken because of flash memory? - General Questions and Answers

Anyones phone already broke because of the very limited read/write operations of the internal flash memory? Especially talking to people that dont or cant use microsd in their phones.
Its easy to change microsd card if is broken. but when internal memory is dead, you can throw the whole device away.

[Q] help!

i got a replacement xoom and when i tried putting in a memory card in it, the memory card would get stuck. i managed to get it in but now it gets super hot when its plugged in the xoom. any reasons why?
I would remove it very carefully but it sounds like something is wrong. One of the metal prongs/leads/whatever on the card may have gotten skewed and could be causing mischief.
actually i think its the memory card cuz i put another one in and that one works and doesnt get hot. by the way the memory card i tried first i had it in my evo and then a few days back i had a notification saying blank SD card, do you think thats the problem?

it sounds like your memory card has either gone corrupt or is trying to. I would suggest backing up your data on that card. I say this because the memory card that I have for my Droid 2 started doing that as well as *uninstalling* all my apps that I placed on the SD card (saying that the files were never there and such, but when placed on my Windows 7 computer, it would be there,) and then would bog my phone down while trying to read the card. I tested to make sure it was not the phone itself (which it would have sucked!) and the same thing happened in two other android phones, proving it was the SD CARD because other (as well as newer too) SDCARDS I had laying around and none of them had this trouble. Even a SD Card testing APP on the market said "Uh yeah... it's dying!"
Because Android is on a linux flavor, it likes to KNOW EVERYTHING on the card or it just does not care for it and then treats it like a blank card. I would suggest that if you want to try and salvage the card, do a quick format AND I WANT TO MAKE THIS CLEAR: to the same file allocation system (aka Fat16 to fat 16, Fat 32 to fat 32, NTFS to NTFS. DO NOT CHANGE THIS unless you know what you are doing!) Also note DO NOT do a full format because this will write to every sector of the SD Card, and that is really really bad for the SD card as well as any flash memory...
A quick format just goes over the file allocation tables (a table that stores information for where the information is located on the card) and then try it again. If problem persists, call manufacturer of the card or where you got the card originally (evo = call htc, droid 2 = call motorola, ETC) and see if it is still under warranty.
Good Luck and I hope I helped you out some

[Q] Storage question

Friends, I wanted to ask if anyone knew of a way that I could use my external sd card as the primary storage rather than the stock 6gb that came with my phone.
I have a Droid x2, it comes with 4gb internal storage, 2gb locked app storage, and I put a 32gb micro sd into it for the external storage.
I am not rooted as of right now, due to some issues I was forced into doing a reset, so I running stock GB 2.3.4.
Is it possible to somehow use the 32gb card as a primary default storage, and have the little one as external?
Thanks for your time and assistance.

How to get my music on my external SD card?

Hey I know this is a pretty simple question, but it's one of those "I'm way overthinking it" kind of things.
I bought a 16 gb micro SD card, and I want to put all the music on my phone, onto that.
I have the HTC Evo 4g LTE, and I'm currently running AOKP rom.
I have a few songs on my phone at the minute, but I'm trying to save space on the internal memory, so I'm trying to get it on the micro SD.
I plug it into my computer and set it to Mass USB storage, but it's bringing up my SD card as my CD drive and I can't modify anything on it.
Not a major problem, but I would really like to know how to do it, thanks!

Internal memory issue?

Hey guys, I just got my first WP today, bought it used from a store at a good price as a temporary phone. The only that was said to be wrong with it was that the SD card slot doesnt work. I said thats no problem, I dont plan on using the phone long or putting much on it so the internal memory will be fine. Well, there is no internal memory. Literally. The "about" is telling me the phone has "Total Storage: 15.73 MB" I thought this was pretty bad that they wouldnt add a decent amount of internal space. After a quick research, it should have 8GB!! WHERE IS IT ALL!? Has anyone ever seen this problem or know if there is a fix? It only gives me about 7 MB to use, and after contact sync and a couple text, I gotta reset the phone to erase it all and be able to text more.

400GB Micro SD Card, unformatted size different in PC

Hi there, not sure if this is the right place to answer this question.
Gutted to know that the amount of storage lost on a 400GB Sandisk Card was close to about 32GB. Of the 400GB capacity, 366GB formatted was available to store files. I found this out by multiple people and by putting in the adapter to my computer. I also realised the read/write speeds were slow but acceptable and comfortable for normal use. Later, I put the SD card into my phone (Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus at the time) thinking it would work without an issue. Well, it did. In fact, it worked even better. Read speeds were close to the advertised amount at almost 100mbps and the write speed was just under 50mbps so I was happy. I also came to realise that the formatted capacity on my phone was showing as 394GB instead of the 366GB most people get on their computers.
I now move phone to the Razer Phone, as soon as I pop the SD card into the phone, it asks me that it needs formatting to a compatible format I believe as the 400GB capacity may have been too large or in the wrong file format. I haven't done so yet since there's about 25GB of files I want to keep (transferred from my previous 32GB card).
So I couldn't find the answers online for these two questions.
1) Why was the formatted size different on a computer, and on the Xiaomi?
2) If I were to format the SD card to a compatible format, I'd lose out on a lot of storage due to an unused partition. Correct?
Any responses are appreciated.
Thanks a lot
