Lol yeah that's true, just after all the irritated people finding their sgs3 with an encrypted bootloader makes me nervous of Verizon.

I doubt you'll see it here. I think the real reason for the delay, is that this phone is over a year old. That's like 83 in cellphone years. Also, htc is no longer making money on this phone.
I just hope we even get the update at all. I guess we might, now that jellybean is coming out. That way we'll be acceptably behind in OS releases, just like we've always been.

No. But the only reason I said this at all is because I talked to a tech at HTC who basically implyed that the update is done, the hold up is on Verizon at this point.

Not surprising. They have to take it apart and add all their bs to it before they send it out. At least we know htc is finished so maybe verizon won't take too long.

Yea... I am trying to hold on to the T bolt and my grandfathered unlimited as long as possible. I just got a spare t bolt with broken sound for 25 bucks to use as a charger/test phone for Roms! Just need ics now!

I heard it will be a NEW bootloader but not encrypted. Dont know if it is true.

I have been hearing there will be a new one. I have also heard a new root method has to be found.

You do know you can keep your plan if you buy your own phone. It doesn't have to be a thunder bolt.

Exchanging at store

I purchased my S3 online and would like to exchange it for a new one in store. I am still in the 14 day return period. If this is possible, can anyone explain to me the process or your experiences? Also one final question, will they give me a brand new one or a refurbished?
If I do get it replaced how do I go about backing up my apps etc and should wipe my phone?

Inside of 14 days you get a new one. As long as you bought it direct from verizon wireless and not from amazon or another reseller.

It does not matter that you ordered online. Inside of the 14 day window they will give you a brand new phone with pretty much no questions asked.

Unless you get a complete **** like I got. I had a totally obvious issue that the guy tried to play off like it wasn't a problem. I had artifacts all over my text at random times. It happened while I was there and he said it wasn't a warrantable issue.
The other guy there helped me out (since I had it less than a week) and got it replaced. Just don't let them tell you any different.

Hey guys thanks for all the help. Initially the guy I talked to told me since he couldn't really see a problem he couldn't exchange it. I asked to see a manager and explained to them that if they liked it could just return the phone and re buy it if they would not let me exchange. That line kind of woke them up and they did let me exchange it.

My sister ordered a white iPhone from verizon online and when it arrived it was black. We called vzw up and they said to just take it to any official vzw store and it will be no problem to exchange. Five hours and three stores later we had the same black iPhone. Every manager said that hey didn't have to take it because it would mess up their stock. Customer support didn't understand this but said there was nothing I could do. Eventually I had to take it to a store outside the city and they happily exchanged it. I don't know if this will help you but you may want to keep it in mind.

Stolen Skyrocket

Hi I recently got my Skyrocket stolen Friday, I deactivated it and I have ATT insurance. Is it possilbe for me to get a phone replace that isn't the same model as my Skyrocket EX. Atrix 2 4g. Or is it same model as the one originally purchased? ps I am still under warranty too.

No they will give you another skyrocket. You don't want an atrix 2. Trust me.

Your warranty doesn't apply in cases of losses and theft, your last resort a this point is your insurance. ATT insurance requires you to cough up cash from you, it just depends upon if your device is a tier 1, 2, or 3. Call ATT and ask nicely.

I bought the phone in the first 3 weeks of June 2012 and I reported it stolen on December 14th 2012 it was stolen on that date. So it is not possible for me to get a different model of equal or less value? Also I bought case and screen protector the day I bought it, will ATT replace that too, and also my micro sd card?

call ATT and find out

They won't cover screen protector or micro sd card. It's $150 deductible, and you get a refurbished phone, not a new one. They will send you another skyrocket unless they are out. In which case they will send you something comparable. I'm sure they have plenty of refurbished ones though.

Why would you not ask your provider? They will tell you what you get and what you need to do to get it done.

You don't want an Atrix 2. My mom has one and it is nothing compared to the skyrocket imo. Samsung does it right. Even specs wise it is definitely a downgrade

I called insurance they said they will add $199 to my bill for replacement but when I got phone in june it was $150. Why is it $49 dollars more?
They also said if its not in stock they will ship a phone related to it? I asked if they could ship Atrix 2 or iPhone 4s but they said no.
IMEI number is also blackisted. I don't understand why the $199 though. I feel like I got scammed.

Insurance claim return. Flash or don't flash?

I've got a cracked insurance claim S3 to return to VZW. I don't feel like taking the time to flash it back to stock. Anything I can do to render the entire phone unusable and ensure I don't get hit for rooting and unlocking the phone?

Nope. Flash back to stock before returning. That's all part of rooting and flashing. You know ahead of time you are going to have to take the time to flash back to stock if you are returning your phone back to Verizon for anything.

It takes all of 10 minutes to return to stock with Odin, and you don't even have to watch it. Just plug it in, fire it off, and go eat a slice of a pizza while it restores. It's not like it's an hour long ordeal.

Malware?

My phone is rooted, has CM11, and also have a badly cracked screen/digitizer. I'm debating if it's malware or just the digitizer. I've ran AVG and Malwarebytes and nothing shows up. Coming here to see what you guys think.
My phone keeps clicking random ****, so that's why I'm asking.

From Googling, people are stating $130 with waiting 1.5 weeks to 3 weeks.
Don't have an extra phone, so getting it fixed where I'm located might be a better.
