[q] i have unlock bin...now what??? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Ok, went through all the steps, CID reads properly, now what the hell do I do with the unlock bin??? I tried using the All In One "Unlock Bootloader" option but it's not doing anything. Still fairly new to this entire enterprise so any step by step would be awesome! Dying to get this done so PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!!!!

Download adb and fast boot from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28340689 . Then extract it
Then drop the unlock.bin in the adb folder.
Enter fastboot USB on your phone.
Right click on the adb folder, and "open command prompt here"
When the black box appears, type ------> fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock.bin
Make sure Unlock.bin is capitalized
Should work bro

Report back, you'll have to push a custom recovery and superuser
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk 2

Thanks so much man! Worked like a charm. Ok, last thing and then ill take my newb behind to bed: bootloader is unlocked, I have a custom rom on my sd card but for some reason I can't seem to boot to recovery. Rom manager says it's an unauthorized action and that I'm not rooted, and when I try to manually boot to recovery, it gets stuck at the HTC screen with red lettering underneath. I flashed clockwork and twrp on there (may be the issue, though I did try with just clockwork to begin with), so I'm just lost here man. Am I just too inexperienced to even be trying this or is this common failure due to being a rookie? LoL Thanks for helping before, any guidance is much appreciated.

Go to http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/99 and follow the instructions there. After you installed twrp, you can boot into recovery from bootloader.
Never use Rom manager and CWM... they can brick your device

Now you can use goo manager to install twrp

If he is using the x-factor root, he needs to push it through fastboot.
Can't get superuser unless he flashes it in recovery

You'll also have to flash superuser after to get perm root.. Hard to say as you weren't very specific on how you rooted the device, if you did at all...

I rooted using the HTc One X All In One application and HTC DEV. If that helps at all. Really appreciate all the input guys.

Depending on what you've already tried, we can get you back just need to know where you are.

yes. relock your bootloader
from bootloader type fastboot oem lock
then you can flash the 1.85 RUU
just run the file from windows.
After that you can unlock with the same unlock token you got when you unlocked in the first place
then you can install recovery again
but the ruu requires the phone to be on and usb debugging on

You can find a link to the drivers in the first post in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709424
Once you have them installed you'll have to reboot in to fastboot and install the official 1.85 RUU.
Also so you know I had a similar experience when I was on cleanrom 2.6 and tried to format and go to 3.0. I had to relock the bootloader, RUU to stock and install a different rom cause 3.0 would just never install for me for whatever reason, it would always bootloop back in to recovery. However I had backed up my NANDROID to my PC so I copied it back over to my SD card after I was on stock then restored it then did an in-place upgrade to 3.1 which worked. I was able to install cleanrom 4 after a wipe without issue.

[Q] I've made a huge mistake, is my HOX still salvageable?

Hello,
I just want to say that please don't say "you should have read instructions more carefully...etc" its too late for that. I'm just trying to see if its possible to get my HOX working again so its not a brick. So please, if you can help me, I will gladly donate to you.
I have a HTC ONE XL (AT&T). I saw a thread today on XDA saying 2.2 was able to be rooted, so I decide to root my HOX. It took a lot of courage, but I was able to root it and unlock the bootloader.
Everything was going great, I decided to flash CM10, the newest one: cm-10-20121025-EXPERIMENTAL-evita.zip. along with gapps-jb-20121011-signed.
First mistake: I did not backup
Recovery is TWRP v2.3.1.0
I wiped cache, dalvik cache, and system, then flashed CM10
Then i flashed GAPPS
I thought I had everything in the bag, rebooted it and let it do its thing. People say the first boot took long time (~5 mins) I gave it 10 mins. Nothing, its stuck on the boot loop.
Then I retried this 2 other times, same thing.
I panicked and accidentally hit factory reset, and managed to clear everything, both of the flashable files (CM10 and GAPPS) from my HOX, now all i can do is go into TWRP recovery. If i try to reboot into bootloader system or recovery it says "NO OS installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot?"
So please, can anyone help me, this was a very costly mistake, but I'm trying to fix it.
CLIFFS:
-Made mistake of not backing up
-Now only boots to TWRP, no flashable files.
First of all bro, you did everything right in the first place except flash the boot.img seperate using fastboot. That's why you bootlooped bc you had no kernel.
Second, don't worry lol. plug in phone to your computer and enter twrp, choose "mount". Get on your computer and download Rom of choice. Once downloaded, extract Rom and seperate the boot.img. rezip Rom. Transfer Rom onto phone.

Hi inflatedtitan,
Thanks for replying, you are a lifesaver, i almost bought another phone... because i thought i was done for.
However, im not sure what you mean exactly as i have not done this flashing before. so i downloaded the rom cm10.
1. so i unizip the rom on my computer
2. copy rom onto phone
3. flash??
thanks please clarify thanks again.
ur a lifesaver.
EDIT: when i hit mount, there are 4 boxes, what do i check (i cant select SD card)? and when i hit mount, it shows up on my computer but asks me to format disk. should i do it?!
As you already factory reseted and lost everything, you should format as the damage is already done lol, it'll get your sdcard back right. But when you extract cm10 on your computer you'll see the boot.img in the folder. Move it to where you have adb and fastboot. THEN rezip Rom and transfer to your phone.

Yes exactly, then run fastboot flash boot boot.img
After that is done, open TWRP and run the zip file
Rom will have excluded boot.img . Try it out and see what happens as you recapped. I'm not so sure as your running fastboot through the xfactor program.. but try it out, worst case is you bootloop like last time. If that happens again, you know to download android SDK tools, adb and fastboot and reinstall HTC drivers and start over

They are many simple tutorials for rooting but do not know why you guys having hard time. Ok here is
1) You got Android SDK from google + Platform-tools + Google USB Driver -
2) Only for windows - Download htc sync ( It will install necessary htc drivers) - Link
3) Just to check if htc drivers installed properly , open "C:\android-sdk\platform-tools" ( Or folder where adb and fastboot exists) then "Press shift + right click and select "Open command window here" ( open command prompt and cd "folder where adb and fastboot exists).
4) In command window type " adb devices" and see output - If you get output then htc drivers installed properly.
You can skip step 3 and step 4 - These steps are only for verification
5) Goto [ROOT] HTC One X AT&T 2.20 Firmware - X-Factor root exploit and follow the instructions there.
6) Once you successfully root your device using above exploit then goto - [How To] Flash Custom recovery and ROMS after 2.20 root complete the steps to flash custom recovery and if you want to flash ROMS
7) To unlock BOOT LOADER use this link - [INDEX] AT&T/ROGERS One X Resources Compilation Roll-Up , follow the instructions under " BOOTLOADER UNLOCK, SUPER CID, AND S-OFF"
You can also goto this link - [ROOT][2.20] One XL Bootloader unlock & Root guide By XsMagical - Very nice tutorial, if you find above links difficult to follow
Note* : During exploit or flashing recovery they talk about using fastboot commands, In order to execute them you need goto C:\android-sdk\platform-tools" ( Or folder where adb and fastboot exists) then "Press shift + right click and select "Open command window here" ( open command prompt and cd "folder where adb and fastboot exists) and then execute the commands ..

you don't delete boot.img from the rom, leave the original zip untouched. just make sure you flash boot.img in fastboot though. whenever i flash something in fastboot i like to run "fastboot erase cache".
NEVER factory reset in bootloader, it will mess up your sdcard.
you should rewipe and reflash everything in twrp. also verify the md5 checksums of cm10 and gapps both the md5 sums are listed at their download locations.

yep that's another thing i've asked all the querying noobs to do, changing the op to [SOLVED] when it is but to no avail :crying:
sry guys it took very long, i followed all your instructions and finally fixed it last night. I went straight to sleep because of work. Thanks again for your help, sorry for late restponse:
my solution: I followed INFLATEDTITAN's instructions. double click the cm10 rom, then take out the boot.img, copy that to where your fastboot files are, SHIFT right click, select CMD (or open cmd and use cd to change directory to folder), then type what he said w/ fastboot, make sure your connected. Then i flashed the cm10 rom, the gapps, reboot, took a couple tries.
Anyways, it works great, so smooth.... on wifi.
I have stragiht talk, and I've been getting really crappy speeds for data, from 5Mbps to 0.16.... down, interestingly, upload has not changed ~1.2 mbps. does anyone have any insight? Why DL is so slow but UL is still the same?

Can you tell me how to edit my post? i can only edit the content, not the title.
Also I have a question on radios. From this thread: (click "this")
I have the latest cm10 nightly build, as I said in my previous post, I am on straight talk. While the radio is showing HSPA+, I'm getting edge speeds (0.16mbps) but good upload speed ~1.2mbps.
Can I use the AT&T 2.2 radio from this list? (near the bottom)
Radios for Latest CM10 versions (with radio in /system/etc/firmware)
I just rooted my phone from 2.2, and want to make sure I'm using the right one.
Thanks.
Sorry bro, can't flash radios and RILs being you have the newer hboot
Sounds like you're into aosp roms. But usually the newer sense Roms are just as amazing and usually are updated with the newer radio. However I'm using old hboot, so I can't confirm that if you flash a Rom, the included radio will also automatically flash. Can anyone reading help with the correct answer?

[Q] Flashing issues...

Ok, I've looked through the help sections, I've Googled my issue [a few times now], so now time to ask for help. [which may or may not be well recieved.]
I was running Viper 3.2.6 fine for about a month, I loved the rom, however I started getting repeated FCs and errors, so I decided to recover my nandroid backup. That didn't work very well, and my phone started to bootloop... I then decided to re-flash viper, re-install twrp [first 2.4.4.0, then when that version wouldn't work, 2.4.1.0] Now when flashing Viper [any JB version I've tried] all my phone does is hang on the HTC startup screen, then reboot back to TWRP. Not to mention that Viper is the only sense ROM that my phone will accept. I've tried fastboot flashing the boot.img, fastboot erasing cache, and running the Nocturnal SD fix to give myself a clean slate to work with.
I'm S-on and HBoot 2.14. Any help that can be provided would be appreciated.
I would post a logcat, but when I tried it would not output anything since the phone is not getting to the rom boot animation.
Try flashing the boot image separately. Or going s-off. I have had troubles with twrp higher than 2.4 before I went s-off.

As far as flashing the boot image, I type fastboot flash boot boot.img.
And with the S-Off situation, I looked into that, but most of the tools for that seemingly require a working ROM, as usually they require you to have "usb debugging enabled" Like I stated previously, I've tried to solve the issue myself, to no avail thus far.
Also being hboot 2.14 twrp 2.3.x seems to not have touchscreen.
So you have no working Rom? Or can you flash viper again?

Just tried 2.3.1 and no, the touchscreen didn't work, I was looking for a d/l for 2.3.3.x but haven't been able to find one. all of the ones I have found have been removed, or changed to 2.4.4.0
I would be quite greatful if you could point me in the direction of a 2.3.3.x twrp that works.
With S-Off, all the guides I've found by searching XDA [and google, which usually points me back to XDA] state that I need to start with USB debugging enabled, I even tried to start the process in fastboot... still no-go.

For s-off, if you don't use supercid, it doesn't seem to work, I did not use super cid, since I didn't need to to unlock my bootloader. I tried that method already.

Sorry I hadnt had to do this till now. OK here's what you need to do. In recovery advanced. Go to terminal command select root dir "/". And then do the "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p4" on your phone. This will pull the file. Mount your SD card in twrp and hex edit the mmcblk0p4 file on your sdcard like in my guide then save it in the same spot, make sure file size matches then go back to terminal command and select the root "/" directory again and type
"dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p4 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4" from your phone. This will push the edited file back.
This is a bit more advanced but will work since you cannot adb. Adb just allows you to use the phones terminal remotely. Instead were actually using it on the phone.

It's not liking the: adb shell su -c "/data/local/tmp/soffbin3" command. It's outputting: /sbin/sh: su: not found
I flashed SuperSU and I'm getting the same error.

[Q] Will factory reset, relock my bootloader?

Hello all. I just unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone, or so I thought. Somehow, I did not completely root my phone. Busybox installer would not load. I ran root checker and it said my root was not complete. My questio is, if I were to do a factory reset, would my bootloader relock? Thanks

No it wouldn't. Does it say unlocked in purple? Can't remember the specific exploit directions. But you can flash twrp using "fastboot flash recovery twrp.IMG" (obviously change twrp.img to the name or hit tab) and flash a rooted ROM. Haven't done any of the exploits up here, but of you clicked on rooted in my SIG, its a great site you out. Skip to the part after unlocking the bootoader.

Yes. When I have it in bootloader mode, it had changed from locked to unlocked. Thanks for your help.
Did you install custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) and flash SuperSU or SU, or flash a rooted ROM. Because you need to do that to actually have root (after unlocking the bootloader).

Also, I believe the only thing that will relock the bootloader, is you relocking it yourself.

I am fairly certain that is correct. An RUU won't run with a bootloader unlocked unless you are S-OFF and still would not relock. nothing else would touch the bootloader.
I followed the instructions and slashed the recovery, twrp I think it was and I got stumped after there. I am relatively new to rooting. I unlocked both my N7 and N4 a week ago with Wugfresh's toolkit and that was relatively simple for and old guy like me. I will most likely have to go to his website and get complete instructions and try it again.

well i can help you, i recommend going with twrp and flashing a SU zip file. this post is reserved, and will be back to edit...
Edit; Ok, so in this post is two files you need.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1907931&d=1366808637
and http://download.chainfire.eu/310/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip
Download both of these files.
Put UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip on the root on your SD card (basically transfer the zip to your phone)
I downloaded the 2.3.3 twrp img file, since that is the most stable for me. If you want to upgrade to 2.5, then be my guess, but others say it is a problem. i have flashed sense roms and aosp roms with no problems. also, pleae read both paragraphs before attempting to do something. if you do not understand, feel free to comment or pm me. i tried to make it as simple as possible.
So first off download the zip, and extract the folder to a simple location (desktop or c:\). i am going to assume you extracted it to c:\. open up a command prompt by going to Start and typing in "cmd" a black window should pop up. type in "cd c:\rootphone." you are already rooted, but it was already the name of my folder. anywho, turn your phone completely off, and go into the bootloader. i assume you know how to do this, since you were able to read off your hboot details. it is the white screen with colorful text. then select fastboot in red. once a usb connection is plugged in, it should turn to fastboot usb. now in the command prompt (black window on the pc), you need to type fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.3.3.0-evita.img (hint: you can type open and hit tab, and it will finish it for you). now you have twrp installed. now boot into recovery, and go tap on Install. find the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip, tap it, and then slide to flash. your if successful, your phone should be rooted. go ahead hit reboot, and re-run root checker.
To anyone else (i.e. Venomtester or exad) if i have incorrect info, please let me know
Looks good to me lol. But a more simple method to open the command window is to download adb to desktop. Then all they have to do is open the folder and right-click somewhere away from the files and it will give the option to open command window here. That way they can put the images in the folder and never have to leave it. They tend to mess up hunting the folder down from windows cmd.

Thanks again guys. I have tried several times since last night to get my phone into bootloader mode. I power it off and the push volume down and power and keep holding both. It starts up and the capacitive buttons flash as I get the quietly brilliant screen and the it just goes black with no flashing. I don't know why it will not go any further. I also get an error report every time. Any guggestions? I have tried to use the commands on the tool kit to get it into bootloader mode but no success.

OK just re do it again. Hold down power and volume down (or is it up? I get this confused with Samsung sometimes)

[Q] HTC one SV k2cl stuck on boot loop Please Help

I rooted on HTC ONE SV
Moonshine s-off
k2cl
Boost mobile
everything was fine till i installed a apk to control system settings then it went into boot loop
i've "adb flashed boot.img from a boost rom and sideloaded it threw CMWrecovery.
It's been flashing system for an hour and a half.
is there a boot, recovery and rom that will fix this problem, even if its stock.
all keep seeing is the recovery and boot.img
i want to put everything back the way it was stock or not
WHAT SHOULD I DID I'M AT A LOSS !!!
Please Help, Thanks in advance
@angelus9151
You can't flash a boot.img via sideload and you can't flash a boot.img via adb. Has to be with fastboot.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img

Your boot.img is most likely fine, you just need to restore your system partition. Did you make a backup of your device using your custom recovery? If so, then you need to restore using that backup. Otherwise, I can provide a link to either my TWRP backup (not CWM compatible), an RUU, or my deodexed Rom. Your choice. First, if you already have a backup made up, then apply it. Otherwise, let me know.

Sorry about that yah i took the boot.img out of the (K2CLCconversionN) Rom and flashed it via fast boot "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
My only problem now is finding a rom that will work with data on the K2CL Boost one.
Thanks
@angelus9151
Download, and run this on your windows computer. Your device will need to be plugged in via usb to your computer also.

Just a pointer from someone who used to use CWM if you flash twrp recovery its a lot cleaner, with more options than CWM. since your going back stock I would recommend flashing twrp recovery in place of CWM

I had TWRP on before CWM but even when i would load that it would still bootloop thats why i used CWM. Just one question if i want to root it again without a system control app this time will i be able to use this exe file to restore it if it happens again. it took me a year before i tried it because the first time there was no roms and i bootlooped that HTC one SV and had to fork over $300.00 bucks for a new one but i figured that i would root it because of busybox.
Again Thanks...Your a life saver if this works.I'll let you know when i'm done

Its an ruu, an ruu is about as legit as you are going to get when it comes to restoring your phone. So yes, it will work . If your phone bootlooped when you flashed twrp in the past then my guess is that you either used the wrong fastboot commands and wrote it to another partition by accident, or you used a TWRP that was not presumably built for your phone and thus used another TWRP designed for another device.

If you are about to do something to your phone, make sure you know exactly what you are doing, why you are doing it, how it works, why it works, should I make a mistake what are my escape routes, and if all else fails - plan B. If none of these are set to mind then I recommend you do absolutely nothing to your phone until you actually understand its method.

In lamen terms, if you cannot stand in front of a class and teach them the concept behind the madness then you yourself probably shouldn't be dancing on thin ice either because you may sink and drown
Dont hesitate to ask a question on here before proceeding further if there is something you do not fully understand.

Hi, So i just bought this device and I've looked all over the internet to root my htc one sv on BOOST mobile. I unlocked the bootloader but then must have been following the wrong guide and flashed a wrong recovery or something. I can boot just not into recovery, it gets stuck "entering recovery". Does anyone know a recent and more updated way to root this device?! Thank you so much in advance!
