Cyanogen HELP

I cannot install Google Apps for some reason. I tried clean installs, fresh wiped caches and data, and flashed from CWM/Recovery. Did not work.
What do I do now? I have Mac OS X and I have adb and fastboot.

You can download it from ROM manager.

I did that as well and I clicked install and it went to CWM Recovery and it didn't work. Have restarted way more than 2 times.

Did you try to do a full wipe and reinstall the ROM?

My guess would be that the dl is bad/corrupted.

However after I install it says Installed Google Apps successful.

Yea tried another site download gapps and it is still not working...please help i really do appreciate it!

Hmm try the newest nightly and see if that helps. If not ill try to flash to cm7 and see if it works for me

@acmys, I think you might be expecting the Gapps installation to also include all the Google apps. Gapps only gets you the Market app and the automated Google Apps installer that pops up during the initial boot (that is why the Gapps file is only 5 MB - it doesn't have much in it other than the Market and the initial welcome stuff). You still have to manually download gmail, maps, voice, etc. either during that initial boot or you can do it later when you're on wi-fi. So if you've already got the Market app, then you are good to go. If I misunderstood you and you're not even getting the Market app, then disregard everything I just said.

[Q] Cyanogenmod 9 Alpha Unable to install/update

I cannot install or update any apps on my phone. I can restore them via titanium, but not through the store. Does anybody have any ideas?
I'm running the release from 29th March 2012 if that helps...

It seems that trying to install the latest gapps has fixed it for now.
But it does keep trying to update Osmos, even though I bought it through the humble bundle instead of the pay store. Any help?
Also, don't know how to edit from the app, hence the double post.

Don't worry about the double post, nothing to worry about here.
You can try to clear the cache from play store, or maybe reinstall it. reboot your phone.
Sometimes it needs a while for the store to recognize all your apps and settings.

Thanks for the update on editing!
I restarted my phone last night and I couldn't install apps again. Rebooted into recovery and reinstalled gapps again and it seems to work again. Next time it happens, I'll try clearing the cache first.

There is no possibility to workaround. Games bought outside Google Play will be always marked but cannot be updated.

EDIT: Clearing the cache, data and force stopping hasn't helped the downloading issue.
EDIT 2: I installed Play Store v3.5.16 from here, and it seems to work fine now.

Known Issue
Yeah - that's one of the known issues on CM9 Alpha unfortunately...
Very difficult to find an ICS ROM for the Desire S where everything "just works".

Can't fix permissions completely

I'm really sorry if this is a repost but I searched for a while and never found a solution.
When I fix permissions in rom manager it hangs around 100. Tried 3 or 4 different ics rooms now and all do the same thing.

Seeing as how you've pretty much eliminated it being a specific ROM. I would try uninstalling rom manager. Reinstall. Then flash touch CWM again. idk that's what I would try.

Flashed cwm and reinstalled rom manager still hung up

Have you tried installing busy box (stephen erickson) app from the Play Store? It's worked on the Sky ICS ROM based off the latest leak.

Agreed you need to make sure busy box is installed

Sometimes roms already come with busybox installed. However, they need to be updated/reinstalled in order for fix permissions to work. Usually that does the job. If not, try reflashing the rom and make sure you follow the dev's instructions thoroughly.
If your rom comes with busybox. Go to your apps, there should be a busybox installer app in there. Click on it and click install

Thanks all. It solved my issue here too.

[Q] package file is invalid

After I install a custom rom, I have got " package file is invalid" error when I install the apps from play store. Anybody knows what to do with this issue.

Wipe dalvik and cache after installing rom and gapps, then boot up the rom. Not sure if it will solve it, but wont hurt to try

OK. Just making sure since a malfunctioning play store shouldn't render the phone unusable. You could try going to settings/apps/ and clear data for the playstore. If that doesn't work then -->-->-->-->-->

having problems with cm11

i install the last build cm11 (11/22) by scott.hart.bti
when i try install swiftkey i got a error couldn't install on usb storage or sd card.
and when i try install Goolors icons my device restarts

Yeah it's really buggy for installing apps. Some just reboot the device. In currently trying to figure out how to go back to cm10.2

i didnt think you could install keyboards to the sdcard. how are you going about trying to install it?

Seems that the few that I could not install if I got the apk off of another device it would install. Fwiw it was a paid for app.

i dont have a external sdcard, i've just try to install the keyboard from the play store like i always do

Please try installing latest CM11 11/23/2013, works perfectly!!! Thanks to scott.:good:

there are two zips, i have used mini. around 124 mb size.
and i do not have force close or reboot issues and able to install apps from playstore. till now not faced issue for any app installation.
