[Q] Is my tablet rootable or unlockable? - Asus Transformer TF700

I'm on jellybean with 10.4.4.20 everything stock. I tried Asus' unlock tool and it fails. I've tried a few rooting with the debugfs automated root tool and it failed too. What else can I do?

downgrade to ics then root.

Unlocking is not required to downgrade. Install the firmware as described in this sticky thread:

Do you know where I can find the ICS firmware? It does not seem to be on Asus's website anymore.

There is a sticky thread in the Development subforum that has links to all firmware versions, including old ones.

unlock, root, the noobest noob question.

Hello everyone, just to start, i'm sorry if this has been asked too many times, but i've been wandering all over the forum and cant find what i need.
(i'm kinda lost using forums)
I have a brand new TF300TL wich is sim locked for certain company, but on my country, this company does not exists. So i need to unlock this pad in order to use it with my provider.
I'¡ve been reading some things and i found here wich seem to be instructions to root the device.
As there is no step by step instructions, i'm quite lost.
I understand that in order to root my pad i need to have it connected to my computer right?... But... ¿How do i connect it? I only have the pad, no docking and this pad has no port, only the docking port, not an USB.
¿Is there another way to root this device without connecting it to a desktop computer?
¿Is there another way to sim unlock this device without rooting or connecting to a desktop computer?
The pad is running ICS (4.0.3)
Thanks for your time and patience.
You use the charging cable. Connect the USB of the charging cable to your computer and place the charging cable in your tablet as you normally would

OK!, thanks didn't notice that...
Now, how do i know that the device is ready to root? I downloaded the unlock device apk, it did some work, it rebooted and then it said device is now unlocked.
Is that the unlock i have to do before rooting?
Anything else needed?
Sorry to keep bothering, but i still cant find a step by step and dont want to mess it up.

The above should help if you're on JB. I think you need to install a custom recovery next (TWRP might be better) but I haven't rooted or unlocked my device yet so I'm not completely sure of the process

Go to the transformer general section top of page. Use krapple2548 method. Very easy took about 15 min.
Ok, new issue.
Went to ASUS website and found firmware, but it says only for WW or TW SKU.
In build number, i have none TW or WW, mine says US
¿What now? ¿Which to choose?
¿Noone?

Can you give more details about your device? When you go to "settings" what Android version does it say?
TW SKU = firmware for Taiwan, I believe. WW is worldwide. US is obviously US.
The link to the firmware download page is here. Keep in mind if you upgrade to Android 4.1 (jelly bean) it will lock the bootloader and you will NOT be able to re-unlock it, root it, or customize it further. If you want to be able to revert back to an ICS bootloader you'll need to create NVFlash files.
I hope this helps. I'm not an expert so take everything I say with a grain of salt

That link is dead, no OS chosing option enabled.
EDIT OK, now the link is not dead, anyway, as i said before, there is no SKU for my tablet wich is US while the page has only WW and TW.

Rooting - if you are on ICS, yes you can root without unlocking. If on jb, no.
Recovery - you must unlock no matter what you're running.

Have you already tried the debugfs method for rooting? Search for that in the Dev section. I don't have a tl so cannot confirm. I see what you're saying about the Asus site. If you want to be adventurous try installing the ww. Strange they put out a us build with no matching firmware. I have heard of others installing different SKU builds without unlocking but again can't confirm with this model.

Even though "Miss congeniality" already left the building:
Yes the debugfs rooting works.
Yes there is a JB 4.1 US ROM up now.
The original poster didn't really grasp the difference between bootloader unlocking, rooting, and SIM unlocking.

downgrading from stock JB to stock ICS

I was looking at the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1833212
Would this also downgrade my bootloader? I'm currently on cm10.1 so JB bootloader. thanks!

As far as I know, if you flash then stock ROM, this should also include the respective bootloader. Please be careful though not to mess that! ICS bootloader can't load any JB ROM and vice versa. On a lighter note, here is how to check what version you currently have.

[Q] How to root Sony Xperia D6653 OS 4.4.4 on build 23.0.1.A.1.49?

I have searched and I cannot find a root method for the Sony Xperia Z3 (D6653) I have which is running Android OS 4.4.4 and the firmware version is 23.0.1.A.1.49 - can this specific Z3 be rooted? If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
Many thanks.

Flash an insecure kernel from the development section
look for advanced stock kernel....
If you have unlocked then it is SOOOOOOo easy to root....
EDIT
Say goodbye to your DRM keys though, if you unlock before rooting you will never see them again. You may want to look in the cross device development section to see the thread about restoring DRM functionality.

Should be, they're are others in the development section as well
Just make sure you read the requirements to make sure your phone and firmware are supported

I tried it but now I have lost wifi on the device and I am flashing it back to stock. I have searched in the development section and I cannot seem to find anything for 23.0.1.A.1.49 other than the above.

From my understanding they can't patch the root method or at least have not. Yet. You should be good to go

You can't root 8.0. Downgrade with your bootloader revision is possible with the same revision combination firmware. But it's a rest rom. So only option is to immediately flash part cyborg
Just for downgrading to 7.0 stock no. You cannot
