Hi,
I just recently had someone put 4.2 jelly bean on my xoom and since then my internet connection seems to get dropped after a while of no activity. It still seems to be connected to the wifi (or so the settings tell me) but the internet wont work. A friend told me that jelly bean has problems with wpa2 or whatever security and wifi using that certain security method will not work properly with jelly bean. is this true and do i just need to wait for an update? or may the problem be something else?
thanks for reading!

If you do have a 4.2 ROM installed, it is an experimental build and likely the reason things aren't working properly. Google is no longer supporting the Xoom, and this there are no binaries available for 4.2. Expect to wait for a functional version, and go back to whatever version of 4.1.2 you were using before.

Hi, my sister just got this tablet and we updated it to Jelly Bean. Noticed though that sites dont have flash, even after using alternative browsers. Is this because of Jelly Bean? My Nexus S which is also running JB supports the same websites that the tablet does not with flash.
Is there anyway to get flash back if JB is the problem? We plan on returning it if we don't get this feature and it'd be nice if we got a quick reply If there's a way to do it without rooting, that would be convenient but if that's the only way then let me know.
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to look and reply to this

yea, you need to install the APK separately.

I have used the German rom to upgrade to 4.1.1 thanks to the wonderful step by step instructions here. Are the improvements worth going to 4.1.2? So far the only program I have found not working is Nook reader.
Thanks,
I'm debating the same thing. I'm doing it to get rid of keyboard lag and allow you to switch to multi view within apps. Hopefully I don't brick my device. People are keeping quiet about it for some reason.

I've been using redemption rom on the 8013. I will never go back! You can use the multiwindow mod to make almost anything multiwindow, snote is almost usable in 4.1.2, and the rom comes with inverted gapps
Well I just took the jump to 4.1.2. I think it's worth it for sure. The only special thing you have to do is keep it in airplane mode, but its nbd. I have an 8013.

its just reversed colors. black background with light writing. easy on the eyes and battery
Redemption ROM has options when you install to disable carrier networks so you dont have to worry about airplane mode too
Updated to 4.1.2 and got better support for the S-Pen.
hey, i'm runnung redemption rom v.3.1 on my n8010, i selected all inverted ggaps in aroma installer but only the gmail app is inverted, on first load play store was inverted but after reboot it is just normal play store. i have tried re-installing rom twice (once to disable phone features) but it's still only gmail. anyone got any idea's how to fix this?

Airplane mode?
Yeah. Airplane mode. Like on a phone. Basically that just keeps the phone from searching for a wireless signal. You can still have wifi on working though! If anyone else has any questions let me know.

I upgraded to 4.1.2. Just like you said after the update I put it in Airplane mode which turned the WIFI off. I turned the WIFI back on and good to go. I was able to install the Nook reader in 4.1.2 but not in 4.1.1.

It was easy actually. I noticed the most improvement going from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1. There are some differences in 4.2. I am enjoying it. Thanks to all the guys here to give great instructions and take the time to test.
I just did the German 4.1.1 JB update last week. My Note is not rooted. I'd like to do the multiwindow thing with my apps, but see that I need 4.1.2. Is there an updated file I can use, or do I need to use a custom ROM to get this? I don't really want to do that.

You do not need to root, my 8013 is not rooted. I used Odin to update following the instructions found on this site.
Cool, thanks! Which instructions? The same ones I used to update to 4.1.1? If so, what steps need to be repeated with this file? If you're talking about different instructions, I can't find them. I just keep finding threads with people saying they updated to 4.1.2, but nothing about how they did it.
Yes, you do it the exact same way that you flashed 4.1.1

Yes how to upgrade to 4.1.1 and not root. I believe the instructions are in this General Q&A section. Followed them exactly. Read the preceding posts about the airplane mode.
Thanks, folks! I'll give it a try. Looking forward to getting more apps in multiwindow, especially Dolphin.
Can anybody give opinions in more differences between 4.1.1 and 4.1.2? Is it worth my time to backup and flash this from 4.1.1? What would the benefits be? I'm on a P3113 WiFi US version and have already spent a good amount of time customizing my stock ROM by backing up and removing bloat.
Looks like early February is now for Rogers and Fido clients. I just got the notification for update on my XT925 and everything went smooth. I am running 4.1.2. Am I the only one? I there been some problems for others?
Jelly bean 4.1 is cool but how can I update my razr to 4.2 now?
Thank you in advance.
Update Failed
I have been trying to update mine about 4 times now. Every time it will reboot, I get the android animation, then it boots back into 4.0.4.
I go back into System Update and it says "Update Failed".
Is anyone else receiving this message or having this problem? Might it be because my stock ROM is rooted?
So I'm running into difficulties updating to jellybean.
I'm rooted on stock 4.04,with the bootloader unlocked, and have vodoo ota installed.
When installing the update, it prompts me in cwm to install the untrusted package. So I click ok to continue.
A quarter way through it fails and reboots, then continues to reboot continously after it powers up to the home screen.
What am I doing wrong, what should I disable to install this ota update.
Thanks in advance

I think that for the patch to work you need to use the exact same version that the patch is made for.

I am also rooted and experiencing the same problem. I don't know what else to do. I believe the only option is to go back to stock and update if we want the jelly bean update. I guess we have to wait until jelly bean can be rooted.

Hello guys,
I updated to 4.3 TW, and rooted via the Saferoot method.
I was on 4.1.2 TW stock rooted, and was using the WiFi Tether - TreveE mod. On 4.3 however, my tether does not show as an available connection.
Just wondering if any of the members who have updated to 4.3 TW have found a working tether app.
Thank you.
I'm running a 4.4.2 beanstalk and the WiFi Tether- TrevE mod doesn't work either. Fails to start AP. Any fixes?

Currently just this WIFI TETHER ROUTER in the Playstore. If you wait, others may start to update to 4.3 like Foxfi etc...
I'm attempting to update to 4.3, but have had trouble doing so. I have done very little research into the new update (been pretty hectic lately), so it may be a blessing that I haven't yet.
Is there no way to tether as of right now on 4.3?

Update to 4.3, then root with saferoot, then install wifi tether router. The stock 4.3 is smooth, reliable and bug free...I'm glad I did it to my wife phone. For me I like to play around so...here I'm.
Thanks!

Foxfi = best purchase ever. Working on 4.3 and doesn't need root. The only problem I have is it requires pdanet on the pc for usb tethering.
Hi
I just installed KitKat using TWRP BigPart and the Omni XXXStingray ROM. It took a little bit of time to understand the process, re-install the apps and get it back up to speed. Now it is working really, really well. My questions is: How to I prevent Motorola from pushing an "software upgrade"? For the time being I want to keep it just the way it is.
Thanks for any help.
John
you don't have to do anything, there aren't any updates, there won't be any and it's not connected to motorolas servers
Great, One less thing to worry about.
When they updated to JB they just pushed it over WiFi (stingray with no sim card, but I did register with Motorola). I am not sure they even gave the option of opt'ing out. I wanted to make sure that would not happen again now that KitKat is working so well.
Thanks
John

Being as this isn't an official rom, and that KitKat is a more recent build than Jelly Bean, you're safe. Moto has discontinued official development on all Zooms, so no worries.
