Hi,
New user so sorry if I'm asking in the wrong place.
I recently bought a car which came with an aftermarket DVD/GPS multimedia system. It has bluetooth and syncs with my iPhone. It's currently running a version of Windows CE.
The system can be found at: w w w.autodvdgps. com/20082010-ford-focus-dvd-gps-navigation-player-with-digital-touchscreen-and-piprdsbluetooth-p-889. html
My question is, would it be possible to install Android on this as I've seen in a few YouTube videos? If so, how would I go about doing this?
Also, the mapping software on the system isn't the best and is a bit out of date. Is there a version of TomTom or something for Windows CE? It also boots straight into the interface shown on the link above, so how would I get back to the Windows CE interface in order to install software?
Thanks for any assistance,
Ian

Hey guys,
I was wondering if there is anyway to change my OS from WM 6.1 to the new Android 2.0 OS. If you can give me any in site on how to do this i would greatly appreciate it thanks.
In some devices you can run android on top of wm. But some functionalities don't work yet. Go to your device's subforum and search if someone started the port process.
Check for a forum for my device and there is one so i just posted the same question in the smartphone general forum. I dont want to run android on top of WM i want to completely change from wm to android.

That requires a new phone.
I had a look at Android first by running it on my HTC Diamond but it is incomplete. I liked what I saw so went out and got an Android phone.
Android is loaded by running a utility called Haret which somehow manages to reboot the phone into Android replacing WM. When you reboot again it goes back to WM. Without knowing which phone ou have it's impossible to know if that is possible for you to do. Look at the Wiki section of this site specifically for your device.
i am running a samsung i910 omnia from verizon wireless. I like windows mobile but i love the android system. The wm allows you to use more technical stuff where as android is more fun.

Hi
I'm split between getting the motorola milestone/droid which has a qwerty keyboard (which i badly want), and between the htc hd2 which has the windows apps which i badly need.
I am kind of stuck now between which one to choose for my new phone. So was wondering
1) is windows mobile 6.5 on htc hd2 backwards compatible with the software from windows ppc and other version of windows mobile? (mainly because the apps i want are stuff like rosetta stone on ppc, reflex mentor on windows mobile, lingvosoft on ppc etc which are old)
2) does android o.s have similar software either already or in the pipeworks from anyones knowledge (i know iphoen has a few of these apps or similar already btu no idea about android)?
3) how easy is it to hack android (i know i can test and trial out a lot of these apps before i buy on windows due to the great internet, but can you also do it to android and iphone)?
Thanks to anyone who can help clarify this,
guess no one knows
Hi, Android has over 20,000 apps and counting. It's also open source & has been hacked a pleanty

Hi guys,
Recently I've aquired an windows embedded ce 6.0 r3 device. I've busted my *ss off trying to understand what this thing is all about but I'm getting really fustrated with the mixed explanations ht einternets throw at me. So far I haven't been able to come up with any decent results regarding what windows embedded can actually do for ME, not some high end superuser.
Okay, so after searching I know now, windows mobile and windows ce are not the same. Windows mobile runs on windows ce. windows ce cannot (without mods) run windows mobile apps. Windows ce apps can't be found freaking anywhere (i tried wince 2003/5 apps, but they all don't seem to work).
So, I'm close to giving up here. Is there something I'm missing? Can anybody tell me what the heck this thing CAN run?
What I was wondering, seen windows mobile is running 'on' wince, isn't it possible to flash windows mobile 6.5 ONTO it somehow? Because atleast that I'm familiar with..
any help would be greatly appreciated,
Dylan
P.S. Some specs of the thing are telechip arm11 800mh 256 ram 800x480 res 7" touch screen.
no? Nobody...?
Drive yourself nuts with this.......
OK, just for you, a specially adapted CE version of 5x5, originally released here.

It required a bit of fine tuning, as the menu appears across the top of the screen, not like Pocket PCs, along the bottom. I had to change the logic a bit, to get it to centre in the screen.
During Demo mode the caption of the second menu option should change from 'Reset' to 'Cancel'. I'm working on it.
Don't try this on your Phone device, the display will be awful. Use the link above. This is for CE ARM processors only. It's compiled for ARM4, the lowest common denominator, so it should run on any ARM powered CE device.
Right, fixed the menu state changes as mentioned above, as it's CE, it's back to good old SetMenuItemInfo() to do the donkey work. WinMo lets you send TB_SETBUTTONINFO messages, to do the same job, as they are actually buttons. CE is far more basic.
Hi Everyone,
I have been using a program called My Mobiler 123 with my Windows Phone. My Mobiler 123 allows for complete control of a Windows Mobile phone from a Windows Computer (Desktop).
Using My Mobiler 123 allowed me to use the phone from the desktop, which made entering new text messages a breeze.
I am now using a Nokia (Symbian) phone and I am wondering if there is a similar application available.
Shortly I will be moving to an Android based phone so I am also wondering if there is an equivalent program for Android phones as well.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Davo
Nokia PC Suite has something like that I believe.
Hello everyone,
I watched an interesting TV commercial yesterday showing a kind of live synchronisation between a Win7 computer and a Windows Phone 7 phone.
The stunning thing was that all changes performed at the PC came to the phone at once!
Here's the spot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXg4sZ8IUXI
Is this also possible under WM 6.5 or 6.5.3?
I have just read through some threads and they told that the programs used are OneNote 2010 Mobile / Desktop version and synchronisation via SkyDrive.
Some users mentioned this would not work under older WM versions since it is not compatible. Can anyone help and provide some more information concerning that issue?
Thanks in advance!
I use GoodSync for that (My Documents), but this isn't exactly what you're looking for.
