Hello,
I have been installing nightlies for a few months now and just yesterday I flashed the new stable CM10 ROM. Ever since flashing this ROM, I have been having issues with GPS and mobile data dropping frequently. I have not noticed any issues with WiFi.
I am currently on hboot 1.09...does that need to be updated separately?
Any help is appreciated.
Different ROMs have different issues. Don't update your phone/hboot 1.09 is where you want to be. If you've been dirty flashing try a clean! If that doesn't work try to find a stable release/ROM.
Sent from my pillow.
Thanks for the feedback. I did a clean flash and am experiencing the same gps / data issues. What radio is the most stable / recommend to flash? Prior to flashing the stable ROM I was using AT&T 2.20 with no issues.
I have not flashed a specific radio since doing clean flash of the stable ROM...

I'm having the same issues too, from a clean install of the stable version. Tried the 2.40 and 2.41 radios and also updating to the latest nightly but nothing has fixed it. Here's a link to it in the issues list: http://code.google.com/p/cm9-msm8960/issues/detail?id=145 . Star it and maybe we'll have a fix soon!
Thanks for the link. I've added a comment to the thread. Is there a specific way to 'star' it?

I'm also randomly seeing the following notification message:
'Restricted access changed
Voice service is blocked'
Are you seeing this one too?

I'm having the same issues too. Data and gps dropouts and they seem connected to the wifi. For example if the wifi can't connect, eventually the data will too. It also doesn't seem to be able to maintain a steady signal when driving
Same issue here. Tried several clean installs of stable, nightly 1114, nightly 1116. Issue persist.

Yes.
Btw this only happens when gps is being used. Not sure if that is the issue raised in the issue log.

I'm still having this issue on the latest nightly... Anyone else?

I am now on the 11/24 nightly and I was still having the GPS issues; however, my GPS now appears to be working fine after flashing the AT&T 2.20 radio.

11/26 Nightly--still have issues with GPS
Have tried several clean installs with different nightlies and I still get the same GPS issue. It always happens with Navigation...but not Maps. It sometimes happens with Foursquare when GPS is activated for a check-in, but not all the time. I also installed the 2.20 radio and that did not change anything, in fact...my probelm seemed to get worse.
I have also noticed that after a fresh install without a reboot, GPS works perfectly and there is no drop. After I reboot, then it fails with Navgiation, but I had also installed Foursquare every time before this so I am wondering if Foursquare might be the culprit and is somehow dicking with the GPS/radio files (seems unlikely..but......)
My test today will be:
--Fresh install of 11/26 Nightly
--Only Maps installed...no other third party apps (expcet Gapps of course)
--No reboot
--Will test Navigation while driving home
--Perform reboot
--Will test navigation several more times
--If no fail, will install Foursquare and test
--If fail, I give up and will leave it to a better mind than mine

I'm having the same issues, occasionally with the "Restricted Access Changed" Messages. It occurs particularly when I use the Speedtest.net app. I think I've narrowed it down to tower-based location services. Turn these off (System Settings-> Location access) and see if you still get the network crashes. I haven't for some while now, yet it will almost instantly crash once I turn them back on.
Testing reveals what everyone is already saying
All my testing has validated what everyone is saying at this point: it is related to the Location Serices and likely related to LTE which is why not everyone is having the issue. I am on the 20122110 CM10 Nightly and the problem still exists for me. I see that a fix has been found by the Nocturnal Team..hopefully they will share and it will get rolled in.
No luck with Nocturnal ROM either
I just wiped my phone and flashed the Nocturnal AOKP ROM and I am still experiencing the issue. This ROM is supposed to have this fixed according to the changelog. Anyone have any ideas at this point?? Other than the work-around already given??
yup I just made a thread about it. I've tried Nocturnal's ROM, King Kang, CM10, JELLYBAM, and all have the GPS/data drop. I deliver pizzas so they are all unusable since I need my gps/navigation.
I recommend using bpear's liquidsmooth ROM if you can find it. it's stable and everything works. It's called RebelMOD-20121110-Liquid-JB-v2.0-RC8-evita.zip. I just re-uploaded it here because I couldn't find it anywhere.
Apparently it was fixed in Nocturnal's ROM and crept back in....or maybe they thought they had it fixed but really did not.
I will look at the ROM you posted. Thanks!

One thing I have noticed, which is very odd is if I update with a new Nightly (or just re-install the nightly I am on) everything works fine....UNTIL I REBOOT...then it goes to pot..so one of my solutions is to just not reboot after doing a nightly....seems to keep me going...but I would like to have this issue resolved
Scratch that last comment about re-flashing a nightly and not having it fail...eventually it does fail even if I do not reboot.
Thanks

Thanks for the tip,
This fixed it for me. if you uncheck 'wif-fi & mobile network location" and check 'GPS satellites" under location access. I was getting the signal drops and the restricted access error depending on where in the country i was. I believe it is a conflict between the LTE radio (which you cant disable on the htc one x evita) and the gps when used for location services.
Its annoying that it both dont work, but cm10 is worth the hassle. And at least nav and loc services work.
EDIT*** - Never mind. Worked for 24 hours and now doing the same thing. Disregard above. Back to stock, i guess.
I had this problem. I am currently on CM10 nightlies as well. Try flashing the 3.17 radio and disabling LTE, as well as disabling wifi location. Seems to be working for me for the last few days.

I realize there are a plethora of GPS related threads, I searched and skimmed through what I could without finding an answer.
I am running Android Rev 1.1.5 rom, and have no GPS lock when using navigation, or trying to get directions of any kind. When using maps, it does lock to my location fairly quickly. However directions or navigation won't lock. I've waited as long as 15 minutes. I've uninstalled maps and reinstalled, checked my etc/gps file to make sure it was the north america map. I've done a full wipe twice using super wipe and reinstalled the rom. I've changed between stock radio and the recommended radio for the rom.
Basically, I have no idea why my gps refuses to lock when using navigation or even just for "print" directions.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I have exatly the same situation mine locks after about 20 minutes 15 minutes or so ... this is something I used on a daily basis I need help
I have the same problem I need the gps :/
have you tried gps fix from the market? worked for me
thank you for your answer suwu10
I just tested gps fix. Unfortunately no improvement so do not work
yup GPSfix worked for me also
Not for me.GPS enabled , i opened gpsfix and finds nothing or google maps. HelP!
yep, ever since I s-off'ed and rooted my phone, my GPS will not lock.
My GPS stopped working with i downloaded the Custom Firmwares.
So i reverted back to the original one and got it working again,
I guess its a driver problem in the CFWs

the same with me, but I can't go back to stock t-mobile anymore.
I hate that I have to choose between working GPS and running a custom rom
This issue is sometimes caused by not matched radios.
Try installing the correct RIL for your radio or flashing the recommended radio for the custom ROM.

I had the same issue a month ago. Turned out that the RIL and Radio needed to match in order to gps lock in navigation. I went through flashing diff roms even reverted to my stock setup and I had the same no gps lock issue.
What I did was made sure I had the correct RIL that matched my radio. Then if I needed to reflash the ril because of the different roms, I just referred to this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14589319&postcount=1 to toggle on the radio to "wake" it up. Went to a gps locker app and made sure it locked on before going to google nav to test if it worked or not. Of course you need to be in an open area to see if the gps locks .
Try that I hope that helps!
My GPS wouldn't lock either until I installed a free app from the market called GPS Status & Toolbox. As soon as I ran that app it picked up a bunch of satellites and it now locks on instantly.
I've matched RILs to my radio, used GPS toolbox, and turned the radio off and on to "wake" it up with absolutely no luck.
The GPS worked absolutely fine when it was stock, but once I flashed a rom, or any rom for that matter, the GPS wouldn't work.
I would greatly appreciate any help, as I am lost without GPS (literally)

I do, but reverting it back did nothing for me.
Have you tried fasterfix?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.Double.FasterFix&feature=search_result
Requires root which you already have. From there you can tell what server you are trying to connect to.
Me being from the US, my server props do nothing for you.
I'm one of the unlucky few who can't get Bluetooth to work with UCLD2 leak ICS.
It doesn't affect everyone. Just some folks.
It crashes for me and I've tried three different ROM's.
UCALC4 doesn't have the problem with bluetooth for me.
Just wondering if anyone out there has come up with a fix for it, or if you have found any custom ROM's that don't have the problem?
Please don't say CM9 because it's using the older Bluetooth code from Gingerbread (IMO) and has a couple other issues that aren't working out for me. Great ROM otherwise though.
CZ, u tried sky ics ucld2 base with the different cwm flashable Bluetooth fixes seanscreamz has? It seems he tried to import the stack from uclc4

Yep, tried the base by itself, then also tried the #1 and #2 bluetooth fix.
None work for me.
Had to go back to SkyICS UCALC.
My stereo is the double-din JVC unit.
bluetooth fix
I read that a new base is out for SKY ICS and a lot of people are saying that it fixes the bluetooth issue for them.
Tried it. Twice.

I do use darkside.
Sometimes before wiping and sometimes after.
Have downloaded UCLD2 twice, so that's *probably* not the problem.
I hope this Canadian ICS release has some additional Bluetooth fixes.
Otherwise, I may go back to Gingerbread before long.
did you install the radio following Sean's instructs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600420
My first ICS rom was a bust.
Then I installed the radio and afterwards installed Sean's 4.2d9:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602216
I did it exactly, no superwipe, used the cwm touch he said to. Installed the base, then the update. Did not install the bluetooth mods. Only thing I installed was a different battery to fix the ics signal bars from greay to blue.
BT works better than it ever has. I was streaming Slacker and running nav on the way via BT to my Ford truck via Sync to test.
(Sync in my 2010 has always been twitchy; never worked right with my Atrix <previous phone>)
Also BT to a home speaker system is great, also.

I am Running Seans Sky Ice, amazing ROM
Issue for me is car bluetooth, and after working for couple of days it started to connect and reconnect again, after I've been listening to music, so my guess (and this is after testing new radios and few other things) is stock music player does something to bluetooth or bluetooth permissions (as as well as phone it also connects to the car) and once there some connection issues when trying to turn it on through the car, the whole thing just does not work properly.
I never had a problem from update 1 to 6, it started on 8 and seems to happen on 9 again. So for the threads out there that say I've tried all the ROM and it's the same, no it's not it was fine on Update 6 here.
If you are running any other ROM, do a back up and flash Fix 2 first and then if it does not for flash Fix 1, thank you to seanzscreams.
Possible Fix:
What I did is i did a nandroid restore ( and yes it is a good idea to do a back up right after you flashed both base and update and set up LTE, to keep a clean copy)
!!!1) Before setting up or even turning it on, in Titanium Back up, freeze stock music player. !!! and it is important to do so before touching BT, as it may affect permission and this will not work(make sure not to touch MusicFX as it also affect BT permissions)
2) Reboot the device
3) Open Google Music Player and set up your music( please note if you have more then one playlist, make sure you set them up right as songs wont play continually and you will not have ability to skip them using car controls)
Google Play is same as stock, meaning same functionality, same car features and all, so you are not really loosing anything.
4) No close it
5) Go ahead set up BT with the car, you should get two messages one to permit access to phone book and one to permit accesses to call history (well it depends on the car, but if you have a newer system in it they yes) check mark the box so it does not ask you again and click yes/accept.
6) Enjoy. Should be good from now on, I've been listening for it all day, will test it more and let you know.
Please also share your experience and thought on the problem, so maybe I am wrong and it's not the issue and it's something else and we can all get it fixed.
Thank you.
BLUETOOTH IS WORKING NOW!!!!
Unfortunately, none of the possible fixes listed above ever worked for me or other JVC car stereo guys that I know about.
But the newest leak, UCLE2 is working just fine.
Thought it took much longer to recognize my stereo than normal (could just be a one-time issue), it was buzz free, error free and playing my Pandora perfectly!

Hey guys is me again lol. I just flashed the newest SynergyROM update ( 1.7 ) and my gps doesnt show me at the correct location. It keeps moving around my area, mostly 3 to 4 blocks away from me. i didnt mind that however when i go on navigation, the directions are incorrect due to the location being wrong. Is there a fix for this? I did a full wipe before installing just like instruction on the thread and i installed it after going back to stock and rooting.

i did check it and tried going to stock and then back to synergy and still same issue.
Edit: I just started reading many of the comments and i guess i will wait for the next update. Battery life is too good to quit the rom.
Thanks for the reply
From what I read about it, and I've been following the thread because I use Synergy, its possible that it is a hardware issue. Or its possible that you need to Odin back to stock and start over. I've been flashing and reflashing Synergy since 1.0 (or maybe it was 1.1) and haven't had much in the way of issues, GPS works fine.
I'm on one of the nightlies right now, have you tried using the current nightly? Not sure what else I can suggest, I'm pretty new to it all really.
hope this gets fixed
If you flash back to stock does GPS work fine
Ive seen a few posts that gps doesnt work and they have been told flash back then flash rom, but my question is when back to stock does gps work then? if not maybe its the phone its self
I have not had any problems even VZW can find me if i turn gps off

This may not the best route, but it has worked for me so far:
I'm also on v1.7 (Odined back to stock unrooted; rooted via GS3_debugfs-root_r2; CWM 6.0.1.0; clean v1.7 install with data/cache/dalvik wipes) and this is what I did when I initially flashed and noticed GPS locking issues:
1. Toggled GPS
2. Went outside & launched GPS Test
3. Updated AGPS
4. Once the "In Use" # of satellites in GPS Test showed 2 or more I launched Google maps and got an immediate lock.
Since the initial flashing of v1.7 when I have GPS locking issues:
1. Toggle GPS
2. Go outside and launch GPS Test.
3. Once the "In Use" # of satellites in GPS Test show 2 or more I launch Google maps. I usually then get an immediate lock. I also verify with Waze.
I noticed that if I keep GPS on, then I don't have to launch GPS Test to get a lock. However, if I turn GPS off and toggle it back on right before I need it, my GPS lock takes longer. If I'm waiting past 30 secs for a lock, I just launch GPS Test and wait for the "In Use" number to populate before going back to Maps or Waze
Is your Wifi on? Sounds strange but the same thing was happening to me and it said turn the Wifi on and I locked in after being 3 blocks off

I actually got my gps problem fixed. I odin back to root66 and did a factory reset there and ran maps, the gps was working fine. Then i upgraded to the newest synergy and gps is working fine as well. I did a full wipe before going to synergy.
Hi,
I'm having a problem with Google's location service. If it is turned on and an app uses it, my phone reboots after some seconds. Turning it off and using GPS satellites only solves the problem. Although, it seems for the weather widget to work it has to be enabled... :/
I am currently running Android Revolution HD 6.7.2 (latest) with faux kernel, also tried wiping and reflashing it using a different kernel. I can't really tell when this started, some day it just kept rebooting every time I took a picture (geo-tag enabled).
Does anyone know what this could be caused by?
Thanks in advance.
earlier maps update had these issues and a fix was released ..did you updated the maps to the latest (which has fix )?
Using Google Maps with Lollipop CM12...Has anyone had the issue where they can get a GPS lock, Google even gives you the ETA of your destination, but as you drive, you lose your lock and Maps gets stuck - thinking you're on a random side street nearby while you're actually moving on course? I am using Location in high accuracy mode. I'm running the official 4.4.4 firmware posted by @Tigerstown too. Never had this issue before. Ideas anyone? Thanks!

I have had this issue before. Not on cm cause I don't run that. I'm trying to think of what ROM this was on...I tried all the lock tricks I know. My maps did the same thing as yours. Only choice I had was not to run that ROM..if you get it figured out but I don't know what you can do I didn't try let me know
It looks a lot like this problem : http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/gps-dropping-signal-ota-lollipop-update-t2951515
(Also reported in AOSP : https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=81140 )
Sadly it seems this problem has not yet been solved/acknowledged by Google...
Well that sucks, I'm looking for a fix to it. Preferably a fix that does not involve returning to stock, then reflashing to CM after I get a lock, and hoping the planets were lined up perfectly.

This issue has been fixed for me for quite some time now. Which device and ROM are u running? And are you 110% sure that you're using the latest firmware?
I got it fixed. Try though, and yes I'm absolutely positive that the firmware is up to date. It happened because I was messaging with a room that used a f2fs /system position, and CM needed it to be ext4, so it was formatted before installing. I just installed a known functional ROM, then installed CM with /system left as is. No Isadora since aside from CM using a newer recovery, and forcing it on us now.
