My USB port burned out on this device and I have the warranty replacement sitting on my desk right now, so I can use it's battery, but before I send this other unit back I want to get it back to stock. I'm not sure if they'll even check because they can't stick a USB in there to power it on so they'll have to use a different battery, but I don't want to mess around with it.
Is there anyway I can unroot my phone, or uninstall the CM9 that's on there without the use of my USB port? I can get files on and off there via DropBox and my SD card but I just can't connect it to my PC for Odin or anything like that.
Thanks in advance for all your help!

Rooted my phone and things have been great...except now no matter what i do my pc will not recognize it. My wife has the same phone and it picks hers right up.
Any thoughts.
thanks
hhmmm.... does it ask for anything? do you have the debug option checked?
Ive tried everything...computer senses it but won't connect
Are you mounting the sdcard once you connect the usb cable?
it looks like its already mounted
i keep getting device not recognized.
i have it set to Ask on connection. Ive tried it with debug off and on. It just won't work. My wifes phone works perfect. Will a master reset do anything?
make sure usb debugging is on and if that doesn't work, try another usb port. I know my front ports give me trouble.
Looks like its mounted? Then it would be mounted. Pull down the notification bar and click on it to mount.
Weird I finally got it to work...i had it set to ask when connected. and it would just come up as not recognized on the pc and do nothing on the phone but charge. I switched it to mass storage and it finally worked. I did the 2.2 upgrade and im good now...my only question now is ...I was rooted and now im not? all the bloatware is back on my phone. Do i need to root again?
Thanks

USB debugging DOES NOT need to be on for you to mount the phone's SD card to your computer.

Which 2.2 ROM did you end up with? Most of the custom 2.2 ROMs are pre-rooted.
I used one that was on brief mobile.

you didnt do an upgrade, you flashed an entirely new rom. this reset everything, including your root and bloatware.
i would recommend flashing back to stock and flashing a custom rom.
LOL Damn us newbies. I can't just load another rom...start with stock?
Ok. I found the stock rom. Any suggestions for custom rom...seem to be a bunch. Any list outlining benefits?
thanks
ive tried multiple times to fix this but it doesnt work. Last time i posted a thread here i said my phone was broken and i was not able to fix it because of the usb connection problem i had, so i talked to the company and they sent me a replacement but i still have the same usb connection problem, whenever i want to plug in the usb cable to my pc, the phone recognizes the connection but my pc doesn't. i talked to the company about this and they said ' Unfortunately, we don't have any information regarding this issue.", i do not know how to fix this. I've tried uninstalling the usb drivers and re installing them but nothing seems to work.
some of you suggested to try to take out the battery for 30secs open odin plug the usb in the phone hold vol up and down then slap the battery in while still holding keep holding it and if a com sign comes up in odin flash it even if screens blank, but it didn't work. i tried heimdell but it doesnt recognize my phone. if i cant use that, it means i cant root my phone and change the annoying tmobile boot animation. so pleaaaassee can you find a fix for this????, ohh by the way it didn't work when i put it in the download mode.
please
does anybody know how to fix it??? pleeeeeeeeeease
I'm assuming that you downloaded the 64 bit drivers? Try downloading the 32 bit ones. I read somewhere that it worked for some people.
or try installing kies and then plugging in the phone. go to install --> drivers in kies and let it install. then unplug the phone, restart the computer and try again
imusing the32 bit drivers
it didnt work, im going to have to buy another cablee to see if thats the problem, thanks for being so helpful jager555
Also, don't forget to try to hook up the phone to another computer.
ive tried this in 3 different computers
Are you trying to odin or just transfer files to sd?

If it's not the computer or the cable it's the phone. You've narrowed it down. Send it in for warranty?
The phone should work as mass storage with no drivers whatsoever. Pretty much any modern OS out right now will be able to recognize the phone with the drivers it come with and let you access the SD card of the phone, so yes, looks like the phone's the problem.
hmmmmm
i believe its the cable. Im going to try to get a new one and see if it works, cuz the phone i got right now its a replacement that they sent me from the company, so its new and i dont think its the phones problem. And yes im trying to odin.
Can you take format the sd card from ths phone (make sure to back up all the important stuff.) Then take off the phone. Use the computer to put a different rom on the root. Flash the rom using cwm. Let the phone sit to build the cache. While it is building, uninstall the current drivers. Reboot. Then reinstall using the drivers from the bible. Put the phone in download mode and plug the usb into a different port. Lol, but try this after you get the new usb cable.

i dont know why they always hate on you but you're a really cool dude who knows what hes talking about, thanks
Please read it all. It will mean much to me.
The rom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353176
Is it possible to convert that into a stock plain rom like it is as a cwm rom?
There's one kinda like that as a cwm rom but its rooted and I need to exchange my phone for warranty support.
The problem is, I cannot odin flash bc my usb port is screwed up, it can only be charged by usb.
I tripped over the cable when it was charging one day and ever since, its not recognized by any of my 4 computers nor does the computer even see it there at all. It doesnt even make a sound. Ive tried different cables to
Am I screwed? Or is it possible?
You can't flash complete stock without plugging phone into computer. You can't unroot without a computer.
It might not be as bad of an issue as you might think. I say that because you phone is still charging. Take your phone to a cell repair shop and ask them if where the USB port on your phone is loose inside and how much it would be to fix it if so. Then if you want flash stock and send it in.
Hello,
I'm working with the stock ROM 4.0.3 and HTC sense 3.6.
yesterday, I got an official update from HTC to SW 3.33.415.51. After I did this update, my phone started behaving abnormally.
1- Location application opens whenever I reboot or connect my USB cable to my computer.
2- The connect to PC options don't popup anymore when I connect my USB cable, nor can I select the phone to act as a "Disk Drive".
Along with other bugs like the speaker turning ON automatically when I answer phone calls, but I only care about the problem of connecting my phone as a disk drive... It prevents me from doing anything (bootloader, customized ROM,....etc).
The thing is, when I connect my USB cable, the location service opens instead of the connect to PC options popup, so I don't know if this is the cause of the problem, something causes the location service to open instead of the connect to PC options.
I tried the following:
1- Reset to factory settings.
2- different cables and SD cards and laptops.
3- I can read the SD card using file manager.
4- I can't even unlock the bootloader and put a new custom ROM, cause when connecting the phone to PC via USB cable and reboot on boatloder mode, it can't feel it, and the phone shows fastboot AC (not USB). and whatever commands I enter in the cmd, it is not executed cause the phone is not connected.
I've searched all the WEB and can't find a solution. I appreciate your support. The PC connection was working fine before this update so I doubt (or wish) it is not a hardware problem.
will re-installing PCSC.APK fix that? does anyone have this apk for sensation?
Thanks
Try flashing the 3.33 package again from here: http://goo.gl/qcbH9
Pls read in detail here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
and check your CID is supported.
If it doesn't work, try to find the RRU for your phone and flash it.
PD: to get to the bootloader, first take the battery out.
I hope it helps.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I tried it, edited my CID in it and flashed, it worked and the .zip file was loaded but didn't solve the problem. actually nothing changed.

There is another way you can use a custom rom without using USB. I have to do it this way because my USB port is damaged. First get a SD card reader. You can buy them for 5 dollars. Then take out your SD card place in the card reader, connect the card reader to the computer. Transfer the rom from the computer directly to the SD card. Then put card back in phone. Flash rom as usual. This works well. To get to boot loader remove battery put battery back in press volume down and power at same time. Hope this helps. At least you know another way of flashing rom without using USB. Maybe this will help because you can't use your USB. I wish you the best.

Thanks for your reply. I've thought about that, but my phone is Locked and S-ON (I didn't put any custom ROM on it before). I guess to put a custom ROM I need to unlock and S-Off it first? And to do that I must be able to connect it via USB.
Yes I believe so, but you can flash roms with s on. If you enable smart flash in recovery. However you must first be rooted. And yes that requires USB. How about my second suggestion. I looked into this. I ordered the USB part it's very cheap. Then called a cell repair company in my neighborhood. They said it will take three hours to do and cost 55.dollars. I haven't had the extra money but I'm going to fix it this way, when I get the money. This is a option for you! It's much cheaper then sending in for repairs! The part itself is like 7.dollars. so all together to fix locally it's going to be around 62.dollars. not too bad. Just look in your local phone book for cell phone repair shops. Get quote over phone but tell them you have the part it's much cheaper to order part yourself. I hope this helps. At least it will save you some money! Press thanks if I helped in any way. Best of luck. This is how I'm repairing mine.

Err disregard that, forgot you cant boot. You try odin on a different computer?
nope can't find it on my mac or pc or the other pc
You have another cable you can try to see if its the cable? Also will it atleast charge when you plug it in?
yepp it charge! and i have tested diffrent cabels!
Have you tried reflashing a rom or restoring a backup? Also what were you doing that made it not boot?
If it's stuck on 'the logo' then how is it bricked?
Reboot into recovery and flash something else.

Dude chill out your phone didn't brick if it did you wouldn't get to download mode hell it wouldn't be on at all. Just follow these guys advice and you will be fine. Oh and FYI your phone is stuck on a bootloop.
I would suspect the cable. I have tons of good quality Micro USB cables from phones past. ADB can Win7 can only see my S3 using the cable that came in the box. Others will charge it and view storage but not let me push stuff to it.

I had to call VZW for a replacement USB cable because I like to keep my nandroids on my computer for backup, and it would freeze or not work, so I broke out the HTC USB cable, and it worked great, so determined either the Samsung cables blow, or mine was bunk.
it would charge and do everything else just fine, just couldn't move media without it disconnecting
Can't i do enything with sd card? it's rooted and evrything!
