[Q] Market problems on CM10 stable - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I did a complete wipe and installed CM10 and the 1011 gapps, and certain apps are no longer reported as compatible with my Xoom.
These same apps were compatible with the CM10 1102 nightly and the same gapps.
I've already did a full wipe and reinstall just to check, and same problem.
I've also done a full wipe and reinstalled the 1102 nightly and confirmed that the apps are reported as compatible.
I've pulled the build.prop from both builds and can't see what could be causing a problem.
Has anyone else had this same problem?
The two apps I'm talking about are Tasker and the USAA Mobile app.

I have the same problem with any nightlies past 20121106 and the stable. The apps that are being reported as incompatible for me are RunDouble, Redbox and Endomondo.
All three won't restore via Titanium or side load or show on the market (incompatible) but all 3 work on the 20121105 nightly.
Replace the build.prop from the working nightly doesn't seem to matter.

No download button in android market?

recently some apps do not have a download button in the market but others do. ive uninstalled the update to market hoping that would do something but no avail. and ideas?
try clearing data and cache.
can you still download these apps from market.android.com? are these apps compatible with your phone?

im not entirly sure what wiping data encompasses. i have wiped cache, same problem, and unless facebook suddenly dropped 2.3 for support, my phone can support it. ive had it installed before.
update: i tryed installing facebook from the site, it says its unsupported. i havent changed roms since last time i installed it. :/
I have the same thing, I cleaned market cache but that did not work.
I tried to install Goweather, I had it installed via a APK file I downloaded.
And found that there was a Update but in the market the Update did not showup. I was using 1.9.8 and in the markted there now is version 1.9.9
1.9.9 showed up as installed (not so because I have 1.9.8) So I uninstalled 1.9.8 and wanted to install 1.9.9 But no download button.
So I tried to install it via Web market and there it says device not supported..
Weird..
I have the same problem, it says that my device is unsupported.
Have the problem since I downgraded from cm7 to cm6 on my milestone.
Clearing cache and app-data didn't help
I had a nandroid and could extract many apps that market says are unsupported and all of them work.
Sounds like the version your running isn't compatible with the app. Can you list a couple of the apps that you get the download link and a couple apps where you don't?

primarily maps and facebook to not work. its a growing suspission that its my lcd density variable in my build.prop that i changed to make smaller on my screen. i verified that the rest of the file is the same.
chompsms as well doesnt but it seems that many of the games work
another update, build.prop doesnt seem to be affecting it
Have you tried APbrain or another pseudo market. APBrain has a instant downloader. Just sayin.
.... that doesn't seem to work for anybody
I've got absolutely no clue what's causing this but the release notes of the most recent CM7 version for my Optimus One P500 mentioned that this has been fixed. I'm not sure if this is specific to the P500 version, but if it isn't, then upgrading to the most recent CM7 version might help. In any case, looking through the commit log should tell you what the fix actually was and allow you to apply it to your version.
truthfully ide like to stick with google market. as much as fixing the phone and such so the check can go through, its moreso fixing symptoms than the problem(a descussion for another day)
ive been using cm7 nightly 144 for a while now. im not entirely sure if the new market is the problem or the nihtly. anyone else have any details on it?
Sometimes it happens if DPI is changed.

Screen resolution was the culprit for me. Changed to default, clear market data/cache, go to market, download, change resolution back. Stock, rooted rom, nexus s 4g.
I had that problem too on my tattoo, i just backup only market (NO Data app) with titanium then wiped cache, and restored and it work again.

LCDDensity for root. In the market. Must have root, obviously.
I have heard about the market app not working for some, have you tried installing an older version of the market?

you can also manually change the lcd density in build.prop
I have this same problem, and yes I have my dpi set to 190 when the default is 240.

[Q] Deleted Google Play

Hey there. I have been trying to resolve the "Package File Invalid", so one of the things i read here on xda said uninstall updates for the android market. I did this, and it installed Google Play completely. I tried flashing a package with the google play market version 3.4.6, but it force closes as soon as I open it. Can anyone help me? :3
I'm not sure if applicable in your circumstance but whenever I start having issues with force closes I reboot into CWM and clear my cache & Dalvik (under advanced) then "goback" & check reset permissions & reboot PHONE .....NOT Reboot Recovery. So far, it's worked like a champ every time for me.
When does it say "Package File Invalid" ?
may Reboot Recovery
It said Package File Invalid when I was downloading Draw Something Free. But thats not the point, I deleted Google Play off my phone and need to know how to get it back.
The point is that the invalid signature error usually comes from either having a broken/warezed/older version already installed, or the download corrupting.
So the signature from the update/download doesn't match what is already installed or has just been downloaded.
Your problem now is that you probably just removed the market but not the other apps it depends on on.
So either restore exactly the market version you removed or flash a new version plus the matching versions of its dependencies.
I've tried flashing both version 3.4.7 and 3.4.6, and they both force close as soon as I open them. Can you show me how to make it work, or tell me how to get it from stop force closing?
I would suggest a nandroid backup and a complete factory reset.. chuck on a custom (up to date (ics) rom) while your at it

Thats the exact reason I haven't yet. I have installed a custom rom and stuff already
I too am having the issue with all apps after 260 apps installed. I noticed that when I uninstall one app I can install a app that had said "package file invalid" two minutes earlier. Its weird.

I have had this problem before, the cause for me was that I was using g a DNS changer. Uninstalled it and that fixed it for me.
Sent from my XOOM using Tapatalk
I don't have a DNS changer installed. I'm using MIJJZ Blend 2.3 and everthing before 260 installed fine, but now I have to uninstall a app to install a app.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Then the only other thing I can think of is clearing data/cache as per http://www.thespicygadgematics.com/2011/12/fix-android-package-file-is-invalid.html
Sent from my XOOM using Tapatalk
I had tried that before. I've been bouncing between Darkstar 1.0.2 and Blend 2.*. I have experienced this issue on all Blend builds and never had the issue on Darkstar. Its weird the first time I had the "package file is invalid" error I was reinstalling my backedup apps. It happened ony on 3 apps(gosms, titanium backup, bunny shooter) and everything else installed fine. 2nd time gosms and titanium backup installed fine, but other apps wouldn't install. The funny thing about it is one of the first apps had the error, but I still installed 30+ apps after that. I've wied and reinstalled Blend 2.3 3 times and this last time I got every app reinstalled and even a few more before the error. I uninstalled one app and installed one app that had previously failed. So I tried uninstalling 3 big apps(angry birds trilligy) and still can't install a 588 kb app. I can't install a single app now. Debating on flashing stock kernel, but really don't want to loose cwm.

[Q] Plague Inc has no properties or permissions, force closes

I upgraded to 4.2 liquidsmooth rom and everything works fine except for Plague Inc, which is like the only game I play.. I've tried several uninstall-reboot-reinstall and every time the .apk has blank properties and no permissions, can't set any either. I downloaded an old version of the game and fortunately that .apk shows properties and permissions but it still FC's upon launch
this is pissing me off and I have no clue what to do, anyone have any suggestions?
how did you install it originally? Are you moving it to SD card? I would uninstall wipe dalvik and reboot. then install from market. Not titanium
do a reboot before you restore data only from titanium.
Love that game By the way

I've been downloading it from the market originally.. wiping dalvik made the properties/permissions show up but the app still stops upon launch
I haven't restored any data at all
I've googled everything I can think of and read some stuff on here and other sites about the game not working well with 4.2.. who knows

It sounds more like a ROM problem rather than a 4.2.x problem. Is this the only game that is FCing? You've said you have been installing it from the market. Have you tried restoring it from titanium or possibly extracting the app or app and data from a nandroid backup?

Just FYI...my setup is latest bamf pure aosp with ktoonz kernel and plague inc works fine for me. I was having trouble with liquid, but this one is running nice.

I might try that one out and see how it is.. will report back
just wanted to update this.. I finally got the app working after flashing a nightly cm10.1 build and restoring with titanium

[Q] Two odd bugs....

Both have been fixed but I remain very curious as to WTF, I don't know enough about Android to make any guesses??
Bug 1, running CM 10.1 and somewhere along the line of updating to the latest daily (Maybe March 20, not sure?) my browser began to not work right, I could go to any webpage w/o a problem but if I clicked on a link in the page I was on I would wind up with a blank page. This was not intermittent, it failed every time. I could open a page but could not open any link from the first page.
Bug 2, couldn't fix bug one other than wipe and re-install from scratch (which I did later) so I restored my backup of CleanRom and all seemed well until I tried to install a new app and couldn't get Google Playstore to open. It would say "Loading" and sit there forever. I used the Goo manager to download the latest Google apps and that fixed the problem but.... Playstore worked at the time the backup was made and was set to automatically update. After the restore it didn't try to update, it just hung trying to open.
Again, both are fixed, bug 1 by a fresh install of CM 10.1 and bug 2 by a new download of GAPPS but I'd sure like to know what caused the hiccups....
All your files were moved to a 0 folder and that's why you can't get anything loaded up on cleanrom and you don't need to flash gapps and touch wiz roms. And also aosp rooms aren't always gna be 100% perfect since there will be bugs so don't be complaining about having problems.

Navigation and Maps. CleanROM

I'm using the newest Clean Rom. I know of an AOSP bug in which Nav crashed... But this is not AOSP.
I came from a CM nightly and restored via Titanium. I never restore system files but it did restore maps... I was getting the crash still and so I uninstalled via Titaniumw, totally and downloaded fresh from Play Store. Still crash! Anyone know a fix?

Try clearing maps data and then uninstalling and then re-installing. Restoring system apps is never a good idea.
Try dirty flashing (keep user data, but wipe cache and Dalvik) and make sure not to restore Maps with Titanium after that. See if that works, otherwise try a clean flash.
I use Maps and Navigation a good amount on CR6.5 with no issues, so I'm thinking its probably not a bug with the ROM itself.
