[Q] No internet after flashing ARHD / on bootloader recovery went to ~locked~ - HTC Sensation

Hello to everyone..
I will give you the longer story just so you get as much detail as possible, and i hope we can come up with easy solution.
Yes, I am new to all rooting, ROMS, recovery etc, and I consider my self noob, because I can follow guides, but dont understand actually what am I doing...
Ive had ARHD for a while when decided to put everything back to stock for warranty purposes. I cant remember the order of things, but i removed recovery, put back SON, and flashed stock RUU...In bootloader it said: LOCKED; PYRAMID SHIPPED and SON.
Since I didnt take phone to get repairs (I found out that my HTC sensation was turning off cause of extra space between casing and battery, and repaired it myself) I wanted to go back to ARHD.
The problems started when I realised i have 1.27 HBOOT and methods will be different. However i made it. First I unlocked bootloader with HTCdev, than installed 4ext recovery, put superSU on, rooted, put new firmware, superscripted and flashed ARDH. Everything worked fine except I didint have internet connection, and I mean no H, 3G, 4G ...nothing. Ive checked setting but nothing was wrong.
I have realised that my firmware was 3,2 and not 3,33, so i flashed it again (made sure i downloaded newest one), and It still says 3.2 so that is problem 1.
I did SUPER CID thinking that might be the problem and flashed again, but no luck. Than I flashed new firmware again (from different source) but still 3.2. After that in my bootloader the top ~revolutionary~ changed into ~locked~, while i still had SOFF and everthing else.
So to sum up: 1. Why dont I have any internet(what step did i mess up)
2. Why did my recovery went to locked (even though I can enter in 4ext from bootloader)
3. What are my steps to make this all work again.
Hope you can help me, and thank you all for being a great community so far !

now are you S-ON or S-OFF?
if you are S-ON flash the boot.img of the rom manually
or enable smartflash from recovery(only if you are S-ON) and flash the rom again
other way is to use the wifix manager app
also update fw it can only be done if you are S-OFF
if you are S-OFF it can be done only from bootloader and renamed as pg58img.zip
did you do that in this way?
edit:first do something else
connect your device into pc.navigate to the folder where adb and fastboot files are located
open a command window there and do these commands:
1)adb reboot bootloader
2)fastboot getvar version-main
it will show you your exact fw version

Hi,
What is your radio?(Settings>about phone>software information>more>baseband version)
Recovery is locked because you probably flashed 3.33 firmware from ARHD thread.
It will not show 3.33
This is because 3.33 is only a radio update.
Locked only means you are restricted in certain fastboot commands.
To unlock,flash THIS
There is nothing in what you said that would remove your internet connection.
Take off the back cover of the phone ,and GENTLY lift the 2 gold pins at the bottom of the phone, and see if that helps...

i have flashed your recovery, and it helped. Now it says revolutionary again.
and baseband is : 11.76A.3504.00P_11.24A.3504.31_M
Still no internet though.. (it seems to me that when i remove back case of the phone, my signal drops drastically, sometimes even connection breaks)

Desire S in one real mess...

Hi all, well i was playing with my Desire S trying to install the generic wwe rom on it since it is brands, and ended up messing up the phone real badly.
Well i used the good old way of creating a gold card and then flash the RUU. The first time went well, i flashed the generic 1.28.401.1 rom on it, retaining the 0002 boot it had.
Then i went to flash the 2.10 wwe RUU and this time things went bad. For some reason the gold card powers were not evoked and it gave me "CID error" but, the all mighty 2.00.0002 hboot was flashed on the phone before it gave the error. So i had to downgrade the bootloader and i used this great guide as a help but once again things went wrong.
I flashed a pre rooted RUU 2.10 rom using 4EXT recovery as the guide tells to do but, i have no wi-fi and usb connection on the rom. This means i got no way to connect the phone to a pc to change the misc_version file and don't even have wi-fi. So i end up asking for any help here as the phone is left in a very bad situation that i can't see the way out...
Try to reflash same ROM again.
Sent from my Desire S
I believe you should have named your thread "I really messed up my Desire S", as the current title is sort of misleading ;-).
In your place I'll try flashing an older ROM, even your initial one and start over. If you still have acces to 4EXT recovery you just have to take out your sdcard, put it on a pc and copy the rom that way (since USB not working). Or you can try to activate USB drive within 4EXT recovery, maybe it'll work.
If you don't have 4EXT recovery, you can try flashing recovery.img (from 4EXT zip file) or a rom by renaming them as PG88IMG.zip and place them on the card (via PC). If you boot to bootloader and try to flash them using the flash procedure for radio, it might work like this.
Sorry if I am saying a stupid thing but this is what I'll try if I had these issues.

Well the initial ROM i had on the phone was a branded Vodafone PT and i can't find that ROM anywhere and for some reason goldcards are not working after the bootloader was flashed by the RUU.
I still have the 4EXT recovery and usb works in it. Flashing a ROM via the PG88IMG only works if the RUU has the right CID as the phone is branded, now i don't know if flashing a rooted ROM using that procedure will work. The other thing i may try is flashing an older rooted ROM, like the 1.28.401.1 and see if the wi-fi and usb works.
Well what i can say is that the phone is completely cursed and i can't find a way out of this.
I tried to flash an older rooted ROM, 1.48 and the same thing happened, no wi-fi and usb connection.
I tried to flash custom ROMs then. Even worse, the phone doesn't boot, gets stuck on the htc logo. I tried more ROMS and the same happens.
Flashing official RUU will not work due to the CID error. All i end up is that i can't put the phone to work, simple as that. The only chance i think is to send the phone to HTC and tell them that a screwed the system and want them to flash it all again. I don't know how much that will cost but it seems to be the only way out.

Return it if you still have warranty. If not, read on:
1. Check you HBOOT if it got updated to the new one.
2. If it is updated, I suggest to flash the pre-root 2.10.5 ROM. Then see if it is going to work.
3. If it does, downgrade from there if you still want to.

Yes it has warranty but im sure it will not be covered since i was the one who messed up the phone system.
Another thing i can do, but this is not a certain option, is to wait and see if alpharev can find a way to S-OFF the new hboot with revolutionary and then open a way to flash the RUUs again and older bootloaders.
But i am more looking to sending it to HTC. Does anyone have an idea how much does it cost to reflash the system on the phone?

It would really help if you have given your bootloader details.\
Things you still can do:
1. If hboot is updated to 2.00.0002, then you need to unlock it, flash custom recovery via fastboot, flash custom rom, usable phone.
2. If hboot is S-OFF, same as 1 but skip unlocking. Again, usable phone.
Also, there are a lot of ways for you to change your hboot once you are S-OFF. Use search.
You are able to install custom roms, but the phone doesn't boot? And the 1.47 pre rooted boots but no WiFi?
You unlocked the phone with HTC.dev.
Steps:
- pick a custom Rom, any Rom
- extract boot.img from that Rom
- flash the Rom in recovery
- do not reboot
- flash boot.img using fastboot command from your computer (search around for instructions)
- reboot and enjoy
The problem is your phone is still s-on, and blocking the kernel from being written during normal flash. You end up with old kernel and new un-matching modules and libs.
I could be wrong though...
Cheers

I my case, that was may of this year, I send my desire (not s) back because of bootproblems, and they reflashed it for free. This was in the Netherlands so don't know how easygoing they are in Portugal, but it's worth a shot I guess.

Well i can say that this has worked. I flashed the boot.img form the CM7 rom and it worked perfectly, it booted CM7 rom and have wi-fi and usb connection. Now the only thing left is to be able to flash official RUUs passing tne CID error which for some reason the Goldcards are not bypassing.
But many thanks for your help

[Q] Sensation Newb- Locked Bootloader 1.23 CM9 Woes

Yes, I am a newb to the Sensation, but not flashing in general. I have previously had hacked SamVibrant, HD2, and most recently, the G2x, so I know from a constant flasher's POV generally what Im doing.
I've been searching for answers to this for days now, and nothing really seems to work, so let me just start with what is going on.
CURRENT STATS:
-PHONE-TMO Sensation 4g
-S-OFF
-ROOTED
-BOOTLOADER-1.23.0000
-RADIO-10.14.9035.01_M
At the top of the bootloader screen it says ****LOCKED**** Which I am guessing is obviously in refrence to the bootloader itself.
Also I currently have the latest 4EXT recovery flashed. When I got the phone it had CWM 5.00.2 or whatever the latest was.
Just bought a Sensation from a guy on Craigslist, and when I got it, it had a CM7 AOSP ROM running on it. I definitely wanted ICS, so I started reading and trying to get it.
So I started here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300&highlight=hboot+1+23
I tried the PG58IMG.zip install via the bootloader, but kept getting errors and security fails. So I researched more and found a post about how to fix that, but the problem is that there is almost always a need to use Revolutionary, and I can't because it doesn't support the 1.23 bootloader.
I have also tried the PG58DIAG via bootloader, and still got mismatch and security errors.
I also just recently tried flashing back to the "REALSTOCKEXPERIENCE" stock ROM which was successful, but it didn't fix my bootloader or unlock woes. Lastly I tried the HTC dev Unlock, and it would not work, because When I got to the part where it attempts to connect to the phone via USB to do get the identifier token it would not connect. It just kept waiting. I tried resetting my phone and reloading the BL but it would not work.
Also I have noticed that I cannot get my phone to connect VIA USB to the PC when in FASTBOOT or Bootloader. Is that normal?
Please help a brother get some ICS on my new phone! I loved my HD2, although it was a bi#$% to flash sometimes, I loved it, and that is why I went with HTC again. This all makes me miss my Vibrant, where you could flash all day long and root without a computer... Good times....
You're already s-off, so most of the work has already been done for you. Make sure you have fast boot unchecked in power options in your current rom. After that, all that's left to do is check your cid. If you're supercid, then grab any 3.32 base firmware from one of the many rom threads in our dev forum, install it via bootloader, remove the firmware file from sd card (do it from pc after you power down the phone), then flash a rom. This will also upgrade your bootloader to 1.27 unlocked and change your radio to the latest. Don't forget to check md5!
If you're not supercid, then you'll need to find kohr-ah's firmware thread because he has corresponding firmware for all cids. Then grab any rom and enjoy.
As for connecting fastboot via USB, you need the htc sync drivers installed on your PC.
Sorry for lack of links. I'm on mobile and searching is a PITA on the phone.
/edit
Make a nandroid backup before you do any of this.
Thanks a bunch. I will give it a go a third time, but that is one of the problems that I am having, is that I can't flash anything via bootloader. I just get tons of errors...
Lets see if the third time is a charm.
EDIT: I still can't use revolutionary for Super CID because the bootloader is 1.23, but I used a Terminal window and the getprop ro.cid/mid and got this:
Cid-T-MOB010.... is this super CID'd?? I was looking for a reference post, but cant remember where I found it before.
no you are not super cid, it would say 111111. But your good everything is already done really.... Go to kor ah's noob friendly firmware thread, find the 3.32 firmware from T-Mobile with the tmobo10 included. Put it on the root if your SD and there you go flash an ics rom. Just remember to delete it after.

^^ This. Kohr-Ah's thread is the way to go then.
On a side note, you might be able to write supercid after flashing the 1.27 bootloader because the one floating around is already unlocked by revolutionary. Why bother? Because it'll make things easier if we have to upgrade our firmware again in the future.

Forget Revolutionary. You are already S-OFF so you don't need the tool any more. All you need to do is flash the 3.32 firmware (it comes with HBOOT 1.27, ICS won't boot on 1.23) from >here<, and SuperCID (look here at step 4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300).
Okay, I am on the right track now. I hunted and hunted, and finally found a PG58IMG that would flash on my bootloader. That put me on the 1.27 bootloader which allowed me to flash the unlocked 1.17 Bootloader which previously would not flash. now I am trying to get the RUU to flash me back to a non-Rooted ROM so I can reflash the 3.32 and then ICS... Once again, I miss my Vibrant's flashing simplicity... but it will all be worth it.
Thanks for your assistance, everyone with positive non-flaming comments. Expect your thanks buttons to get some love!
Someone else correct me if I'm wrong here due to misunderstanding that last post...
But if you're on the 1.17 bootloader unlocked and everything is smooth there, you should be able to flash the 3.32 firmware right not, then flash whatever ICS ROM you want. The current ROM should have no bearing on this. There is no reason to flash to a non rooted ROM just so you can immediately flash a new ROM.
You just need to have either Clockwork or 4EXT recovery installed to flash the ROM. (And you'll need 4EXT to flash a couple of them. Not all will work with Clockwork)

Thanks for the thanks.
Though once you had the 1.27 revolutionary bootloader, you could've just flashed an ICS rom right then and there and been done with the whole thing. The 1.27 bootloader that's floating around actually comes from the 3.32 (rom base) firmware so you would have been good to go. You really didn't need to revert to 1.17 hboot and flash a non rooted rom.
Don't worry, it really is easy flashing a Sensation, you'll see. It's just that a lot of our guides are outdated and end up confusing people who come into the scene post gingerbread.
/edit
Skipjacks is right. You can go from 1.17 hboot to 1.27 hboot (3.32 rom base firmware) without worrying about your current rom.
I had tried to flash the ICS Rom several times, only to have Boot loops and get stuck. I was following several guides posted here that say that you have to be on a non-rooted rom. I will give it another go to see if there is any change.
That's really weird. Which ICS rom are you trying to flash?
Did you get the T-MOB010 3.32 firmware from here and make sure md5 was correct? This firmware is really the only prerequisite for flashing a 3.32 base ICS rom.
Just keep in mind that 3.32 firmware only works for ICS and will bootloop a gingerbread rom.
There's a really good and simple step by step on how to flash ICS in the first post on the link. Check it out.
OMG It Works! I was boot looping like crazy and could not get anything to boot!
I am not sure but I think the problem may have been the radio, or the wrong Firmware for my CID. My phone would not work with the adb Radio.imgthough so I left it alone.
Correct me if I am wrong on the radio idea, but I flashed the 3.32 and I would get stuck at the White HTC screen. Tried SuperWiping and Flashing three different Roms and no-go.
Then I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
I downloaded the right one per my TMO CID and was able to flash it, which also updated the Radio. After another superwipe and Rom Flashing, it worked!
THanks again for all of the help. You are all really appreciated. ALong with this whole community.
Haha that's Kohr-Ah's thread where we were telling you to go to for 3.32 firmware.
Honestly, I'm not really sure what was causing your bootlooping. There's so many little things that could cause a bootloop, it's hard to pinpoint. But hey you've got it running now so it's all good.
Welcome to ICS and welcome to the Sensation community.

HELP!!
I am new to rooting, and tried to root my phone using a guide on this forum. I got my head around bits of it but im confused now and seriously need help. I successfully unlocked the bootloader screen and when I hit recover I can access clockworkmod fine. But when I try to flash the firmware by placing the PG58img.zip on the SD card, it tries to run it but says "wrong image", "no image", then stays on parsing for a while. If I restart the device it just stays on the white HTC screen. What have I done.
I am unsure what version kernel I should be trying, (tried a few, they all stay on parsing), and I could use a good ROM too.
its a pyramid pvt ship s-on rl
hboot-1.27
I really need some help and Id much appreciate it

Thanks man, I shall follow it exactly and let you know how it goes. Lost without my phone.
problems
Ok so I have tried it to the letter, few issues though..
Since I have no working rom running, I cannot "enable usb debugging" in order to install the 4ext recovery. I got around this but doing this in the bootloader instead - is this ok ?
4ext seemed to work, and i have followed it to the letter, super wipe installed great, then I installed revolution rom which went well, choosing to install a stock kernal. However after reboot - still a white HTC screen
The only thing I can think of is that my firmware is wrong. Since I cannot get into settings (as i have no rom) and can only access bootloader and now 4ext, I cannot see its version - if there is a way can you help please
I need 3.32 but don't know if i have it or not as I have played around with it that much (my own fault i know )
Is there any way to see the version i have and install 3.32 firmware in 4ext or bootloader. Everytime I have tried in the past by copying it to the sd card, it gives me the parsing message and no image wrong image..grrr

Thanks greatly man

4EXT flashed fine ..thats no probs there ..and you did the right thing (adb reboot-bootloader is to get to fastboot ..which you can do it manually too)
did you enabled the smartflash ?? ---> THIS is the main step
did you check the md5 of the ROM ? (you can do it via 4EXT itself - its in install form sdcard-> check md5 i think) and verify it aganist the md5sum given in ARHD thread (in general just below the download link)
also flash the rom again ..no wipe this time ..just flash it
can you post the complete HBOOT details ? seeing that i can give you the proper suggestion (afaik if you are on ICS earlier ..you have correct firmware)
I have performed the md5 check and it was ok. Im thinking that after 4ext rebooted after the superwipe, I didn't re-enable smart flash (forgot it needs to be done again), so I just enabled it and am reinstalling the ROM with no superwipe this time..
My hboot is 1.27 so i must have 3.32..
I really do appreciate this, sorry im a n00b
Finished flashing rom, reboot and same again. White HTC screen. I really am lost now

EDIT: you got correct firmware no need to flash it again
dude the smart flash is said temporary for a reason ..you need to enable it every time ..when ever you enter the recovery ..until you make the smartflash permanent by following step 5 (which can be done only when you have a bootlable, rooted rom )
Yea im guessing the firmware is ok, the 4ext is great, superwipe works fine, the rom installs complete. When reboot, it just stays ont he white screen
Really annoying now since i have no phone and cannot seem to find anything else on it.

I can really understand your annoyance I have experienced the exact same problem to the letter. After several attempts to reach out No One seemed to help or understand my problem. I then went back to my HD2 and now have the HOX as my main unit.
I get stuck on the white logo screen or beats screen everytime I flash a ROM. I tried everything at least I think so.

Yea, im well pissed off. I have done everything, yes I enabled smartflash and installed the rom again, done that a few times now. Ran superwipe a few times, nothing.....
going to re image the recovery and try it all again.
if that doesnt work, its in the bin..

you keep on doing superwipe ..it wipes everything
just do it once ..only once
then enable smartflash
then flash the rom
if it still stuck
then do the extar 1 step in the guide (you need to get the boot.img of the kernel you have chosen while installing the AHD rom earlier)
thats all follow that once and reply me back if it didnt worked
(no extra steps)
ok done it again, same thing happens.
Now.. you are referring to an extra step regarding the boot image. It isnt clear in the guide. Where do I get the boot image from, and how and when do I apply it.

Usually the fitting boot.img can be found inside the .zip of your desired Rom.
Finding your "boot.img"
Open your rom's zip file
Open the "kernels" folder
Open the folder of the kernel you chose during install of your rom (if there are any choices)
Extract the "boot.img" to C:\Android (or wherever your adb and fastboot are located)

he does say how to find it right?
the zip in your case is ARHD 6.6.7 rom zip file
and you are asking again for how and when ..when he clearly explained the steps on how to do it
and i already told you when to apply it
ohh btw skip the adb steps ..you can go to bootloader manually and do the fastboot commands
ok, so i got somewhere
I found a boot.img in the rom/kernals
then i used fastboot flash boot boot.img
this flashed the img
now when i reboot i get off the htc screen and im stuck on the beats audio screen -- oo while I been typing its come off the beast screen and booted into android yey.. Thank you every so much man. I kinda understand this a little more too thanks to you and the guide.
I shall post when I have problems with this rom (notice i said when)

I am still stuck at boot screen
Hey I tried to do everything my guy here did and still no luck.
the last thing I tried was flashing latest firmware package without the HBOOT, then flashed the newest recovery, then performed a superwipe because latest rom differed from ARHD, then flashed the ROM and then the Boot.img just to be sure (even though this should not be necessary according to the firmware)
How can I figure out whats wrong?

[Q] stuck on splash-screen

Hey guys
I've got a bit of a situation. A friend of mine gave me this sensation (carrier T-mobiel) wich was all but bricked. Since I have some experience rooting and flashing custom ROMs, he asked me to give it a try at reviving it.
The owner had been messing around a bit himself and he managed to install clockwordmod recovery. Don't know if he installed any ROM, the device gets stuck on splashscreen.
I did the following; full format, superwipe and install a ARHD ROM. result was te same; stuck on splash-screen.
Then I did another full format, wipe and installed Cyanogenmod, still the same result.
I wanted to try and install 4EXT touch recovery, but the device doesn't respond to any USB connection method so ADB won't work. there's no working ROM so installing through the app won't go either. basicly, I don't know if there's a way to uninstall and install a recovery through flashing.
I have another phone to use to store required files on a SDcard.
these are the things dat DO work:
Bootloader, fastboot and clockworkmod recovery v5.8.0.9
this is the device's bootloader information

my guess is that I'm trying to install ROM's that don't work with the current firmware. I don't know if the owner installed the OTA ICS before he got these problems. But I don't know what firmware is currently on this this device, and how to check it.

Hi,
2 things you can try.
1.Run a GingerBread RUU.
Look HERE
2.If that works,try s-off.
Look HERE
Then, you could change firmwares and do whatever you like.
Hi Malybru,
I understand what you suggested and I'm currently working on it. Only I can't find the right RUU for this phone.
Current CID is: T-MOB003
getting it superCID'd was no go since I can't get it S-OFF with the revolutionary utility. is there another way to S-OFF the phone besides revolutionary?
edit: I downloaded and executed a RUU that apearantly wasn't compatible with the phone. I'm guessing it removed whatever ROM was installed, but didn't install the ROM from the RUU.
I also followed step 3; RUU to restore stock up to the part of relocking the bootloader. I didn't come any further cause I can't find the right RUU.
the phone now only boots into bootloader with "security warning" displayed below "relocked".
I'm guessing, if I find the correct RUU with gingerbread, things will be okay again.
on a sidenote, does a RUU install also returns the recovery to stock?

Hi,
RUU does not matter too much as long as it is Europe and GB.
If you can find a dutch tmo ,then even better.
No harm will come if it is the wrong one.
It will only throw up an error.
This will at least get a ROM on your phone,so that you can s-off .
Revolutionary is the easiest way to s-off.
so, to summarize:
the RUU has to be TMO for either UK or EU. Does the radio need to match the one that's currently displayed in the bootloader?

Hi,
The closer the match, the more chance of success.
But close will do.
Yes,with the same radio.
finding a dutch RUU with this radio for TMO is pretty challenging. So I tried it with a german version (DE). Other then that it matches the radio, and the carrier.
the first method through the RUU.exe failed, it tells me to get the right RUU for my carrier/phone.
So I tried it through flashing with a SDcard. I changed the CID in the notepad file in the PG58IMG.zip to T-MOB003. In bootloader, it checks the file twice and after that nothing happens, the regular bootloader screen is prompted.
Then I tried to flash it through fastboot CMD command, pretty much my last option according to the guid you linked me. This also fails with the notification that it failed to verify 12 signatures.
now I found some universal firmware packages but they don't seem to contain any ROM and recovery, only firmware. are there any of these universal packages as complete RUU?
or is there a way to bypass the signature check with a fastboot command?

Hi,
Try the European RUU with the 10.14 radio that matches yours.
Add your CID in the PG58IMG text file.
Make sure you have the phone in fastboot when you attach your USB cable(it should say "fastboot USB"),and start running the RUU from your PC.
http://db.tt/A7lS7PaD
Here is a link to 4ext touch recovery as a IMG. http://db.tt/KFKpcrhB and here is a pg58img.zip. put the zip file onto the sdcard and boot to boot loader. It will hopefully flash the recovery. If not fast boot flash the IMG. Once you have the recovery installed enable smart flash and then flash the roms. Hopefully that will work for you

tnx for the files.
I tried the suggestions you made but flash from sdcard doesn't work; it checks the file once and doesn't do anything after it.
when I try to flash either one of the files through fastboot I get signature verification fail.
my bootloader says RELOCKED, I got that after following step 3.1 in the RUU flash guide to return to stock. I don't know if this is blocking anything from being flashed with the nasty signature notifications?
also, most like because nothing is installed on my device, when I plug in the USB cable when it's turned off, it automatically swithces on displaying SECURITY WARNING below RELOCKED.
Damn, wasn't fast enough. I'm not sure what the best way to approach this is. Either attempt to full s-off the device with revolutionary/ jupuntobear, or re-unlock your boot loader with htcdev, then fastboot flash the recovery. Then install the rom. Then run jupuntobear to full s-off
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
heavy_metal_man said the right thing. First focus on unlocking it on hTCdev.com and afterwards, flash a 4Ext Recovery to make things easyer. Then put the device in bootmenu (not in the Graphic shell) and attach a USB, start any Official European RUU that is Gingerbread - with 1.50 in the numbers.
an update
I managed to get it unlocked again with htcdev.com. After that I flashed 4EXT recovery, succesfully.
only thing now I need to do is installing a ROM. I tried the following without succes so far:
with RUU
I can't find a dutch RUU for TMO with radio 10.14.9035 anywhere so I tried the closest match possible, a german one. through the .exe method I get incompatibility errors. So I extracted the ROM/.zip, added my CID and tried with SDcard flash and fastboot flash, both unsuccesfull. Hboot checks the file twice and does nothing afterwards, and fasboot prompts the message "FAILED (remote ** unknown fail)"
Universal firmware package to make sure I'm on 3.32, so I can install ARHD 6.7.2 or any other ICS rom
I took one from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21711154#post21711154.
I get the same errors as when I was trying to flash the ROM.zip from the RUU, both with sdcard flash and fastboot flash.
a random Gingerbread ROM
I found this GB ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226564.
I installed it through EXT4. after a reboot it's stuck in a bootloop. No splash screen is shown however, it get's to the withe-field-green-HTC-screen and reboots after, showing the same.
I don't understand what's wrong. I got a good recovery now and the bootloader is unlocked. For some reason the ROM's I tried are incompatible with the current state of the device and I can't figure out why. are dutch T-mobile branded phones so tough to crack or what?
also, after a certain step wich I can't remember, my bootloader doesn't display a radio anymore.
Current bootloader:
UNLOCKED
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.18.0000
eMMC-boot
Aug 2 2011,22:35:52
EDIT: I would be less restricted in my actions if the damn thing were to be S-OFF. is there any way to get get S-OFF through bootloader/fastboot? All the S-OFF methods and utillities I found so far need the device to have a ROM running.
SOLVED
with help of KGS1992, I managed to restore the device.
- installed a stock GB ROM since I was on hboot 1.18, and to get root acces
- aquired root through adb
- gained S-off with revolutionary
reason why I couldn't manage this before is because I didn't have a genuin stock ROM.
tnx all for the help

Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [s-off] moonshine s-off for ville_c2. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Hello everyone.
I tried using Moonshine to S-OFF my HTC One S (villec2), which didn’t quite go as intended and now I’m stuck in a boot loop.
I downloaded Moonshine from the Moonshine website, under HTC One S – S3 model (ville_c2), first download for ROM version 3.19.401.101 (I got that version number from Software information somewhere in Settings). I then made sure that the phone had Fast boot disabled under power options, turned off the screen lock, connected the phone to the desktop (running Ubuntu 14.10) via the USB cable, and did sudo ./distiller. Moonshine did its magic for a few minutes and, in the end, the phone was powered off. However, when I powered it on, it got stuck in a boot loop.
Now, to solve this, I rebooted into recovery mode (I’ve got something that says CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4, not quite sure where I got that) and tried restoring the backup I had previously made and/or wiping caches, none of which seemed to help.
So here’s where I am now: I can boot into bootloader just fine. The bootloader says moonshine S-OFF on top. Normal boot is stuck in a boot loop; it shows the regular splash screen for a few seconds, then a window entitled Android is upgrading… and a spinning progress thingy along with Optimizing app 1 of 24. for a second, then Starting apps. for a few more seconds, then the screen just turns off and the loop begins anew. Occasionally I can see, for a brief moment, an error message right at the end; I can’t quite discern what it says, but it is about a crash of something with gapps in its name.
During the boot loop, I can connect to the phone using ADB (and by that I mean that I can access the shell with adb shell or reboot into bootloader or recovery with adb reboot bootloader or adb reboot recovery). Oddly enough, when I try to power down, the phone doesn’t power down but reboots into recovery instead. I tried powering it down by: holding the power button for a really long time (this, however, just restarts the boot loop); FASTBOOT → POWER DOWN from the bootloader; adb reboot -p; adb shell → reboot -p.
So, what do I do now? (I apologize if I made some obvious mistake with the procedure described above, or with making this post…)
EDIT: I also forgot to mention that the Moonshine directory seems to contain a file called boot_backup.img; can it help me with anything?
i have a problem with s-on. this app solved.
thanks for s-off
Hi, i want to thank all the people involved into moonshine's s-off solution for villec2. I've run it on 64-bit Debian Wheezy. It worked perfect. Finally my One S is free .
I can't thank you on solution thread because i have not enough posts to post anywhere.
The CID for my One S was ORANGB10. It was bought in ORANGE PL.
Thanks again.

I guess having S-On for Ville C2 means same thing...that is, you must flash kernel in fastboot mode after every ROM flash.
So you could use OTA but after installing OTA you have to go to fastboot and flash the kernel from that OTA. It also means you should open the OTA zip on your PC and extract it from there to have it at hand when needed

1-. if you want to install another RUU different at you CID you need be a S-OFF and SuperCID.
2-. if you want to install .zip rom flashed from recovery you DONT need be a S-OFF, but, after flash a rom you need flash boot.mg from fastboot.
3-.The problem with unlock boot loader its very strange, i relock and unlock boot loader a lot of time and no problems.
Hey guys
I sincerely apologize in advance if this is wrong thread to post such question in. Please be so kind to redirect me to the right thread, I just got registered
Here's my problem. Couple of days ago my phone (HTC One S, villec2, S-ON, here's the picture from bootloader http://tinypic.com/r/qo87k6/8) started behaving somewhat out of the order. Every process that was there, everything started throwing out errors with the likes of Google play has stopped working, Music has stopped working, Messages has stopped working, nothing was the same as it was before that. And nothing else like cleaning the phone with some apps from Google Play didn't help. Therefore, I decided to install myself a custom ROM
Phone was already rooted two days after I got it. It was pretty straightforward process really. That was two years ago. I needed root acess to install some app that required root acess, don't ask me which app was this because I don't remember, honestly. It also installed TWRP 2.6.0.0 and SuperSU
I downloaded ROM (this one in particular http://www.android.gs/update-htc-one-s-to-android-5-1-1-lollipop-with-resurrection-remix-5-4-4-custom-rom/), followed instructions, got into TWRP and this is when the turd hit the fan. Instructions said that I need to wipe my phone. I did just that, with one exepction - I wiped everything from my phone. Spare me saying that I'm an idiot, I've got over that fact already
Basically, TWRP said that no OS is installed. Everything was wiped out from internal SD card aswell, including my ROM file that I put on the phone. I tried with mounting USB storage, which got me into the SD card on my PC and I've put ROM file on it again. So I tried flashing the ROM with TWRP but it kept telling me that my device is not supported to install this ROM
So I was stuck in bootloader with option to flash TWRP.img file from fastboot enviroment on PC, nothing more than that
I've tried at least 4 different ROM-s. One got installed on my phone but when I rebooted my device it got stuck on HTC logo screen and kept rebooting (boot loop I think it's called) until I manually got into bootloader with combination of power down+volume down button
So I started looking for solutions. I found out, that there's two different "flavours" of HTC One S. One is ville, the other one is villec2, which I have. I've read all about RUU files that can help me recover my phone but after searching through http://androidruu.com/?developer=VilleC2 I found nothing that can help me. I've downloaded two different RUU's, locked and unlocked bootloader twice, rebooted RUU but none of them was compatible with my phone
I've seen something about OTA manual updates, which I also tried but it didn't do anything. I've tried flashing firmware.zip that I got from OTA update file, flashed boot.img but then the phone got to the point where it should update but it kept showing me red triangle. The only option was, again, to boot it into bootloader and I was back at square one
Then I read something about turning your phone S-OFF with that moonshine software and about installing any RUU I want without complications. So I got one and realized that I can't do anything with it because my phone only boots in bootloader and as far as I understand, you need to run distiller.exe while the device is turned on and it has to be in Android OS. Which is not an option with me, because as I said, I can only boot my phone into bootloader and then boot something else via fastboot commands on my PC
Am I screwed here? I've tried literally every single thing, I've looked over dozens of recovery guides for this phone but none of them worked for me. I heard that I need exactly the same ROM (matching CID and everything) that was previously installed on the device. Thing is that I didn't do any backup of stock ROM before all that fiasco. I've tried this site too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2200930 but all links seem dead, because it only shows me some advertisement things and nothing else
I know I got myself in a situation where anyone with a bit more brain than me would use this bricked phone as a paperweight but I'm stubborn enough to try just about everything to revive my device. At this moment it's stuck in bootloop. I can't boot into recovery because it only keeps rebooting over and over and over again. Fastboot recognizes my device if I type fastboot devices into command prompt but that's just about it
So please, if somebody has the slightest idea what am I to do, tell me all about it because I've ran out of ideas and there's nothing more to my knowledge to try at this point. Thanks in advance!
