hello.. i have looked for the answer to my question but i cant seem to find it, therefore i created this post.. sorry if i posted in the wrong section or if it is already out there.. i hope mr clown doesnt close my thread.
i rooted my phone doing it with the one click tool, and it worked perfectly fine.. the problem started when i tried to install a custom rom on it.. i installed rom manager and cwm fine.. but the problem is that i was following this instructions..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=11557769
which i read i had to get this rom...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868720
the problem is that i didnt realize that i needed eng s off and i had s off wich therefore i wasnt able to see the cwm screen..
following the steps that told me to wipe the data with the wipedat.zip.. i did it through rom manager.. when the phone rebooted it went to a dark screen slowly so i took the battery out, and now is frozen in the htc logo... i have tried the up/down/power combo but the phone vibrates 3-4 times and then it goes to a black screen with the light on... but i dont get anything else.. so im really stock at either htc screen or black screen... i need help!!! i hope some one nows a good way for me to fix this.
have you tried...
adb restart fastboot
or adb restart recovery or whichever it is
someone more familiur with adb can explain alil more on this
Download the stock ruu exe and run that from your computer.
Sent from me using this thing.
Try running adb reboot bootloader but first off run adb kill-server then adb devices to see if it is picking up your phone. If that doesnt work download the stock ruu and run it, hopefully all goes well with either method.
Just FYI - this was taken care of over in the General Forum.
Haven't heard from him since, but he was able to get into hboot.

Hey man i had a problem like that i used ace hack kit v9...Just do everything over again and it will work..
This is in the wrong section. Questions should be posted in the general section.
Its not volume up/down/power. Its just volume down + power. What is sounds like you did was restart your phone while it was trying to flash the rom. You should be able to get to the hboot menu just by holding power and volume down to power up the phone and wait till hboot shows up.
This will be probably the best answer I got.
1. Turn your phone off
2. Take out the battery and insert it back it
3. Don't turn your phone on
4. Plug in your USB cord, connected to your computer
5. Your phone will Automatically Boot up
6. You will be in the ClockWork Recovery
7. There will be many options
8. Select "BACK UP AND RESTORE"
9. Restore EVERYTHING.
10. youre phone will start normally, but it will be really LAGGY
11. Then ROOT your phone again to make it normal.
What has happened to yours has happened to mine. This is the way I fixed mine.

Had it in my pocket yesterday and it started vibrating really fast so I assume it was a call or something. Looked at it and there was loads of apps loaded up on the screen and it was just vibrating away with no incoming call.
Only way to stop it was a battery pull. Turned it back on and it went into safe mode. So turned off and on again and it took a long time to boot but did actually come on ok.
However, the screen didnt respond. So another battery pull and it just stops at the HTC logo on a white screen.
Also when it does boot the light to the left of HTC logo at the top seems lit up.
Any advice guys?

Take a look at this there some possible solutions in there
I get the device to boot after 10 mins on white screen with htc logo.
Still in safe mode. I tried adb reboot recovery but just goes to white screen with logo again.
Did you try ruu or something else inside the thread i linked?
Is your device s-off via revolutionary?
I got into recovery after waiting for a long while. But the only button to respond was the power button meaning I could only reboot.

Good that means adb is working
Try the adb commands within the thread I linked
Or try to use an ruu to restore your partition table or another solution of the following link, but it's quiet strange that your volume buttons don't work or are they just not working within recovery? If they are don't also don't work within bootloader, it looks like there is more damaged than the partitions, your choice, try a ruu or another solution of the linked thread or send your device to repair for warranty (what you also can do after you have tried the other solutions)

Swyped from my Desire S
I have managed to get it to boot with out safe mode being active. But screen isnt responding and I cant unlock the phone. Recovery still wont let me navigate the menus.
Is there any way I can return it to stock without having to navigate recovery so I can take it in for repairs?
Any way to put it back to s-on?
Sry man, but if you don't read what i'm linking there's not much hope, all possible solutions are in there, including ruu what would exactly do what you want to and not only that it also could fix your problem.
Ruu <- click on this
download the ruu for your region
Plug your device to usb
put your phone to fastboot (inside the bootloader)
Be sure that htc drivers are installed (maybe install AND uninstall htc sync [the drivers are still present])
Execute the the ruu and follow the instructions
I am about to try this, awaiting download of RUU. Although I am not sure which to use.
Mine is sim free stock from carphonewarehouse. So I am grabbing one of the HTC Euro RUU files.
Is there any way to tell which to get?
And I have read the links. Most of it doesnt work so trying the RUU
Just managed to get the buttons working. So doing a restore to see how that goes. Then will try RUU

Will be the right one i think.
In common it depends on in which country or from which provider you bought it.
Sry, in some special cases (mostly related to alpharev/revolutionary) they don't, but for others they worked very well

Nice what was it?
Dont know how the buttons were fixed. Just rebooted and they worked. Restore didnt work.
RUU just completed and screen not responding still. Looks like dead touch screen.
Hopefully carphonewarehouse wont notice the s-off

Which provider of which country are you using?
Is the screen now responding?
Its talkmobile uk.
Phone is not branded.
Could you choose your provider at initial setup?
Which network type are you using, is the apn set the right way?
Have you tried searching for networks within the settings?
Is my HTC Desire S bricked? It is stucked at the white HTC boot screen.
In september I got the MIUI rom up and running, now when I am about to sell my phone, I decided to go back and restore it. So I changed the ROM and then it wouldn't update it just stucked at exclamation point-screen, so I searched forums and found that I had to flash it. So I did with this one: RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed.exe
Which I got from a list in this forum, went fine and my phone booted allright, so I went in and tried to update it via settings, it installed and now it is stucked at this white HTC bootscreen.
Is it bricked, or what do I do now?
Thanks.
download RUU_Europe_2.10.401.8 and use it

Well that sounds ****ed
Unfortunately that doesn't work neither ... Any ideas?
Btw, thanks for the help
Well, I found out that I can go in to the fastboot mode, from revolutionary.
Isn't it called fastboot? Where you can choose factory reset, recovery etc.
Factory reset and recovery doesn't work though, when I try to recover I see a screen with a HTC Desire (not S) and a exclamation mark on it, what now?
Hi, noob question I guess...
I have looked everywhere for this answer throughout these forums and google and I'm really sorry if the answer is lurking somewhere here already.
I am in the middle of installing a custom ROM on my 2nd sensation 4g (w/ tmobile) and I'm stuck. There was a firmware issue and the phone was stuck in a boot loop after clearing caches and all that jazz so I had to superwipe and try a different firmware file. I've booted the phone into hboot about a bajillion times tonight but now it won't boot into hboot in order for me to install the new firmware. Hitting vol down+power. Just boots into regular HTC white screen, then continues bootloop again. Tried taking out the SD card, tried just letting it sit a while, I can't think of what else.
Nearly every other issue I've found about this has people suggesting to use a rom manager or quickboot to just start over at ruu files but I'm at the stage in the rom process where I can't boot normally or get into recovery to install zip files. And maybe I can use a rom manager at this point but I just don't know how?
Please help? :\

Double check if you unticked fastboot mode.
I have no way of checking that. I cannot boot past the white HTC logo on startup, so I can't get into the power settings.
I know for sure that it's not in fastboot because I've booted into hboot about 50 times previous to this tonight.
Pulling out and reinserting battery? then power on whill pushing volume down?
Yep, that's what I'm doing. Instead of flashing to the hboot screen like it normally does when I'm holding both buttons, the screen stays black until I release the buttons, then it starts loading up the HTC screen like it's trying to boot normally. Doesn't matter how long I hold the buttons for.
weird! sorry no other ideas

It is reading the SD card. It only gives that error since there is either "no image" or a "wrong image" on there. Just download the RUU for your device and run it (from your PC) while your device is in fastboot.
it looks like phone is bricked, i did the same with my arc s, but thenk god it's very simple to flash it and now it's unbricked again :cyclops:

The device is not bricked. It can be easily restored to a "working" state if the method I stated (or the other 1) works.

Agree, you can also try to root, cwm and flash a custom rom,you need this:
http://tau.shadowchild.nl/aahk
Link found on attn1's twitter.
And any good custom rom here at xda (most are good/great if not all).
Just be sure to read the instructions.
