If you install the Play Store 3.9.17 .apk after flashing gapps you won't need to reboot or wait until the market auto-updates. I've done this for a while and it saved a lot of time.

Did you try clearing cache and data? On the market itself. Does it give you a message when trying to download?

I just install it as a normal app

use the root explorer method to install play store .
download the apk
copy to sd card
using root explorer , mount system as r/w , copy the apk in system/app folder and change the permission to rw-r-r
for details you can see a.cid's thread

My permissions were already set to this, and I am still having FC Issues with the latest Play Store. It closes as as soon as I attempt to download an app (Update or New Install). Once it force closes, I cant even open it again without clearing the data.
I rooted my Samsung Gio for the purposes of removing my carrier's bloat ware and moving apps across to the SD Card. Google Play was one of the apps I moved across. Ever since I did this, I have not been able to run the store and have been getting the same error message as everyone else. I also tried downloading different versions of the Play app but to no avail.
I'm trying to work this out but have not had much luck so far.

Play store ics apk

Dude, format the memory card, and also wipe data from setting menu,
then,
reinstall ICS
If that's the only option I'd rather flash the Frankenstein rom and just read you shouldn't factory reset on ICS :/

Buddy. The Problem Pulley06 faced and urs might be because of the play store version u r using. U might have restored the play store u used in GB to ICS. Delete the play store apk. Grab a fresh copy of play store and push it to system/app. Delete data of existing play store from Settings->Applications before removing it.:good:

You should write the name of the problem, not a "Problem."
I had a similar problem on the CM 10.1 of "erikcas."
Try go in CWM on advanced restore/data restore.
Or download Google Play 3.10 from themes & apps section & Manually copy that to /system/app, then rename it to vending.apk, set its permissions to rw-r--r--. Reboot ur phone.
Done.

[Q] Google now

Why cant we install Google now from play store even when we are on jb?? I am on cm10 beta 3 and the stripped gapps only give google search and not voice search!! When installing from store I face errors like not signed or invalid update.
Google now which is in themes and apps section is intended for ICS and give problems when used on jb !!
Any solutions?
Anyone??

You can't download until you delete Velvet.apk
After deleting this file and rebooting I was able to install it from play store. This has worked for me on CM10 as well as AOKP JB

Google now widget is missing from widgets....
But when i switch back to Touchwiz launcher i can see Google Now widget...
Everything works perfect except google now screen...
As i have read we can instantly access google now by swiping the left edge of the screen but it does not happen in this case
