[Q] Wifi Problem Inspire 4G - HTC Inspire 4G

--

What does the wifi error say? As far as rooting, I don't know of a workaround for broken volume button, You need it to navigate the bootlaoder.

Hello, I recently bought an Inspire 4G UNLOCKED from Craigslist. I noticed that the Wifi gives me an error every time I click on it. The mobile network connects fine. Also, the volume buttons are completely broken - they do not work. Is there anything I can do to root my phone without using the volume key? Or, make the wifi work?
Please and thank you.

And click the Developer tab and check mark all the options. download "root-checker" app and "root-toolkit" use these to see if you can reboot into Hboot. accuse once you enter into Hboot the PD98IMG will start update. if so for navigating around you can use the function buttons. There is another way if you can create 4EXT PARTITIONS ON SD-CARD using another device similar to yours then 4EXT has a full touch recovery MOD which eliminates the the use of volume tuggles.

In most cases the WiFi issue can be solved by modifying the file: "wpa_supplicant" it is located in /system/bin/wpa_supplicant . but since it is encrypted you will need to replace it with modified one. you have to change the name of the original one to wpa_supplicant.bak then past the modified one in the same folder:bin ... the only way that I know is to have root capabilities so you can do these mods. I will post a thread which will guide you to do this step by step.
My previous reply was for you to gain root access without the use of your volume buttons. so you can change your device root properties. so, fist make sure you got root access then you can fix your WiFi issue.

[How To] Install The New GOT Update On Milestone

Hello My Friends I've Heard You Are Having Troubler Installing The New Upgrade Or Understanding What Is Needed To Be Done.
Note: THIS IS A WINDOWS BASED HOW TO AND WILL WORK ON WINDOWS ONLY
Before I Start I must Say, This Is a combination of process and I have not created any of those files or own the right to them so all the links are the same links found on other posts from where i got the info, so by downloading those files you are, supporting them not me i take no credit for this work
Well Here Is the quick Easy Guide In How To Do This
-Fist we Need To Get The Tools To Perform This Operation
pulled From This Tread we need
1. Motorola Drivers For Either 32 or 64 Bits
2. RSD Lite, witch is a tool for flashing your phone.
3. The GOT Open Recovery ToolUpdate: Added Latest version from G.O.T.'S Blog
4.The Firmware Files From Got
2.2.1 FIRMWARE FILES

EDIT: G.O.T. Has Added the burnerable open recovery to these sfb files so no need to flash it latter
-Now That We Have The Stuff We Need We are going to do it, fist i must say that unlike other roms that are applied by a backup restore (corect me if im whrong) this is a full flash and its going to reset everything so no apps will remain no setting will remain and is highly recommended that you uninstall every app you have, don't back them up(except for apps some apps that have a create backup file, those seem to work) just uninstall them, and when we are done have them installed again, Here Is A Tool That Will Help You Get There Faster
1.ok you have everything uninstalled right? now time for some action
2.install the proper divers (32 or 64)
3.install the RSD Lite tool
4.unzip the 2.2.1 FIRMWARE FILES you downloaded and you will find a ".sbf" file
5.now connect your phone to USB cable and turn it off
6.boot it in boot-loader mode (press the D-PAD UP key while pressing the power button), some night need you to release the button after a minute, a black screen will be shown on your phone and you will see the divers being installed on your computer.
7.when drivers are done open the RSD Lite tool and your device should appear you can click on it to see details.
8.now click on the "..." buttons that are close to the start button and look for the ".sbf" file, after a couple of seconds it should be ready to start
9.press the start button and do not unplug the cable or let your computer show the screen saver or go to sleep, the posses must not be stopped while it has started .
10.when the posses is done the devise will restart and voala, you have 2.2
-As GOT stands there are some bugs on the firmware and they have developed a fix to them and get root and overclock, here is what you have to do.
1. unzip the got open recovery tool into the root of your SD card
2.check this quote
NOTE: On some devices, we have encountered that rooting directly after flashing without rebooting after the initial flash can bring some issues with RootExplorer not asking for root permissions. To be safe, reboot after flash so that the “welcome to milestone” menu comes up, set up the device in general, then reboot to recovery and root the device as well as apply our 2.2.1 tweaks with Launcher, Services.jar fix and Wireless Tethering app.
Click to collapse
this means if the fist time your milestone got restarted and you saw "Welcome to Milestone" Message You are good an you can root.
but if you didn't then restart you phone and see if the message comes out, if not , a factory reset should have that scree message shown.
3. open the open recovery by pressing camera and power button at the same time while the device id off. you should see a scree with a "!" symbol on it then press fist volume rocker up button a leave it pressed then press camera button, some letter will pop out.
4. using the pad scroll down to "apply update.zip", after a couple of seconds the GOT menu should pop out (everything from now on uses the pad)
5.root your phone (why not)
6.go down to "Launch 2.2.1 Menu" Option.
7.Here you will see the "Fix Bugs They Are Talking About
One of the first things you should do is use the “Fix 2.2.1 bugs” selection in the new OR 2.2.1 menu after you flash the sbf file.
This tweak will fix some of the issues with the generic sbf build such as dual USB notifications, replacing some stock Motorola applications such as the old launcher/mediagallery and adding the Wireless Tethering application.
Click to collapse
8. there is the overclock too.
Now your device should have all the things you need to start playing with it,I encourage you to check on some tweaks the GOT team might have, and you might want.
I Hope This Was Helpful enjoy ^_^

something i don't get
I updated the firmware with RSD Lite, and used the one click tool, because:
whenever i try to hit update.zip i will get an errormessage, stating that these blocks couldn't be found -> ergo, the card not be mounted.
The HTC stuff i always managed, but this one is a mistery to me. Also, i did format fat32, pushed the stuff and then straight on bootup trying to hit the update.zip, without success.
I've read about how other people solved that problem, none of those approaches helped me.
Any hint is more than welcome.
2 bugs i've discovered so far: Battery drain like almost to be declared useless, some market apps "vanish" after installing them. I suppose those fixes would have done the job. I might attempt to use root explorer and execute the scripts like that, still I'd like to know why I'm unable to get the update.zip, resp. the G.O.T or any other "intelligent" boot menu installed.
Edit2: Even when installing the vulnerable sbf, i still get the error: E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 ....

Root phone from the GOT OR menu doesn't seem to actually root my phone (2.2.1 UK version)
Superuser whitelist app FCs instead of prompting to allow access. Have tried using Better Terminal for root access & also Wireless Tether app.
Anyone else getting this? Any ideas? Do any of the 1-click root apps still work with this build of Froyo? Which can we use?

i can confirm this. Simply trying it a second time worked for me
I'd like to add something for Linux users:
Using a virtual machine (virtualizing WinXP) that has USB support (eg Oracle VM VirtuaBox, since VirtualBox OSE does not support USB forwarding) can do this pretty easy. So no worries when trying this via a VM.

You must rename the downloaded file exactly "PD98IMG.zip". Once you do that, place on the root of your SD card (i.e. put it on the sd card). Once there, boot into bootloader and it should find the file and flash the radio. I cannot stress enough 2 things. You MUST name the file exactly "PD98IMG.zip" or it will not recognize the file. Also, if you have hide extension preference on, you may not need to add the .zip part to the end of the file. If you do add the .zip and it doesn't recognize in hboot, and you have named it exactly "PD98IMG.zip" then delete the .zip part and try again. Secondly, check the md5 number to be sure you didn't download a corrupt file. More times then not its fine but I cannot stress enough that only bad things can happen if you flash a corrupt radio. Lastly, search search search! there are numerous threads, especially in the dev section (1st thread) that details how to flash radios. Below I've added the link, while the radio that you're about to flash is on the DHD forum, the method to flash is still the same in the provided link below. If this has helped you, know where the thanks button is
FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS!
Edit: Uhm, not sure what you mean by does this do radio off? If you ran the hack kit and you have successfully installed Bindroid, you should be rooted with S-Off, enabling you to flash the radio with the above mentioned method..in bootloader it should say S-off, again though if you have flashed bindroid, you are rooted successfully I would think..
I did what you told me and its not working for some reason. What could this be? Says something like Wrong Image.
Tried flashing Radio with the toolkit too, it goes through the process but radio is the same.... So frustrating.
Stop. You can't just take any file and rename it to PD98IMG and it will magically work. There needs to be a script included to actually run it correctly. Now if you hold on for a while, I made a PD98IMG file for this radio a while ago for someone else. Let me look for it and I will post back.
The hack kit gives you S-OFF. That's all you need to flash a radio PD99IMG file. Also, please post if you have the Inspire or the DHD. Just curious.
thanks, I will wait. What I did was put the file in root, do a restart into bootloader, select hboot then started running saying wrong P98IMG.zip. Tried 3 different methods and no go. I have an inspire 4g from ATT and has the gingerbread stock radio on it. I want a new radio due to horrible battery life. I noticed that it gives me 3.9v instead of 4.2, is this a problem?
Before I post the file, please make sure you delete any other PD98IMG zip files that are on your sd card.
Yeah I know, also what method should I use with your file?
It seems it was the RADIO i was looking the problem. I put in this one,
Radio w/RCDATA: 12.59.60.26P_26.11.04.21_M
MD5 Sum: 57cccef401c372c6d421c986ee42e0fe and flashing worked perfectly. Guess Ill try this one for a while.
Boot into Hboot. You can do this by these methods. First go into your menu settings and it is usually under Power. Make sure the option for Fasboot is unchecked. After this power phone off. After phone is powered off, hold down the volume down key and keep pressing it. While still pressing volume down key press power buttonfor a second or two. You can let go of the volume button as soon as the white Hboot screen shows up. The phone will scan for files and find the PD98IMG file. It will then ask you if you want to update. Press the correct volume key to accept. DO NOT POWER OFF THE PHONE DURING THE UPDATE. It should take less than a minute. Once it is done, press power to reboot. After phone is running, make sure you delete PD98IMG file off of sd card. It will save you a headache if you ever need to go back into Hboot. Link is posted. Before you transfer to sd card, rename the file to exactly "PD98IMG", without the quotes. Just delete the underscore and the ending I added.

If you flash a radio file then make sure you flash the matching RIL file in recovery, not Hboot. In recovery options, go to mounts, mount system, then go back and select the RIL zip file to flash.
thanks alot, will try with the one you posted now. I was able to flash with another radio so it was that one specifically that was bad or w.e.
If you are going to use the ATT 421 radio you just posted, then flash the RIL file in recovery like I described. Flash the matching RIL file in recovery, not Hboot. In recovery options, go to mounts, mount system, then go back and select the RIL zip file to flash. I am posting the RIL for the radio you just listed and for the one I posted, which will end in 4.19.
I am also including a program created by ZikyHD. Install it on your phone. It is an easy way to check and see what radio and RIL you have installed.
ahhh! my apologies!! I thought he pulled the radio file from the same page I did (not the case) holy crap what a bonehead move by me! Wolf good man! I'm using BinDroid too and flashed the recommended radio recently and pulled the file from a different page...glad Wolf got you straightened out..I should have just posted the PD98IMG I had, glad wolf is on his game better then I am. Assumptions are really killing me lately!
It happens, but be careful when messing around with radio files because you can brick your phone if it messes up. To the OP, make sure you check the previous post made by me for additional information and downloads. Also let us know how it worked out. Test any new radio for at least a few days to a week. It needs to settle down. Remember, what works well for some people in their area may not work well for you, and vice versa.

I always take extreme caution when dealing with radios...and I cannot stress enough how important it is to delete the radio off the SD card..what nightmare that can become if you softbrick or something...not that I learned that the hard way or anything
I tried installing that app to check the RIL, doesn't phone says its not recognized.

well at the risk of making myself an ass again, I use terminal commands to check my ril..as far as I know it does work. If you want to take this route, download your favorite terminal app (I use terminal emulator). Open a command windown and type "su" and hit enter. First time it should prompt you to allow superuser permission. Allow it. then type: getprop "gsm.version.ril-impl" and hit enter. It will display the RIL file and hopefully the one you're expecting!
What phone do you have? That should work with most phones. It an Android program. If you are having trouble installing it then try a program like Easy Installer from the market. You can also run terminal commands on your phone or your computer to check the radio/RIL information.
In phone terminal, type the following after typing su and hitting enter:
getprop "gsm.version.ril-imp"
In command prompt, ADB, type the following after adb shell:
getprop "gsm.version.ril-impl"
Edit: Looks like I did not pay attention and refresh the screen. MMM answered the question. To the OP, what phone do you have and I am assuming the radio flash worked.
Thanks alot bro, with your file it was the only way I could this radio to install, tried alot of other methods and it would't work. Thanks alot again.

Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate: How to Root it.

ALL:
It has been a long time since I posted to this thread. Back then, the Samsung Exhilarate had just come out, and there was no way to root it. Thanks to several other members, most notably j3r3goss and shabbypenguin, I was able to get root on this phone. As of now, this post is very old. The instructions here, are not needed for you to root your Samsung Exhilarate anymore. You are free to read through them, but you should pay attention to the last page (currently page 3). There, j3r3goss posted a link to the the TWRP or CWM recovery files, that you can now use to get root, without following the step-by-step instructions I posted below. I'm leaving the thread up, but for all intents and purposes, consider it closed.
Here's the link to the section you need in order to root your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=32520094
It has been fun, and I've been using my Exhilarate for nearly two years. Because I've been extremely busy, I haven't had time to keep up with the latest changes - but others have. I hope that you found these instructions useful.
In any case, take care and ROOT ON!
Everything past this point is old and no longer applicable
==========================================
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have UPDATED your phone to ICS, and want to root it, these instructions will work. You will not need to do the last part where you need to update the firmware keys!
Do you plan to update your phone from Gingerbread (Android 2.3) to Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). Do that first! Otherwise, you'll just have to root again (not that that's a problem, but why???)
I) How to update to ICS:
1) Download Samsung Kies from here: http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ if you haven't already, and install it, and then run it
2) Put your phone into ODIN (Download mode - see section II below).
3) When Kies detects you phone (your computer will need to install drivers, and then Kies will say it's connecting to your phone, and it will take about 3-4 minutes and finally connect to it), it should let you know that there is an update. Just follow the instructions on Kies and be patient. The phone will update, and once it reboots into normal mode, you'll know it's updated by going to "Settings" and if they are grouped into different sections, then you have ICS. Otherwise, you probably still have GB.
II) How to enter ODIN Mode:
For the Exhilarate I've found it's best to use this sequence:
1) Power phone down
2) Plug the USB cable into your computer (do not plug the phone into the USB cable yet).
3) While pushing and holding both the vol up and vol down buttons, plug the phone into the computer. As soon as you see "SAMSUNG" flash and then dissappear, release the buttons.
4) Phone should boot into ODIN mode.
III) How to Root
What you need:
1) Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate phone (unrooted)
2) microSD Card (any size of 1GB or larger will work)
3) USB cable to connect your phone to your computer
4) Files below
First, download all the files...
1) Download the latest version of ODIN here: ODIN.
2) Download the drivers here: Samsung Galaxy Drivers and run the setup program after unzipping.
3) Download the tar file here: www.Shabbypenguin.com/OUDstuff/Blaze4G/Clockworkmod-Blaze-4G.tar Don't mess with it, just download it somewhere where you can find it later
4) Download SuperUser here: SuperUser Save it somewhere where you can find it later.
Second, conduct the root:
1) Put your phone into Odin (Download mode - see Section II above).
2) With phone in ODIN mode, run Odin.1.85.exe (it's in the folder where you unzipped ODIN too).
3) Odin will launch on your computer. It should show, in the first box under ID:COM, a port in yellow. Mine was Port 5. This means you have successfully connected to your phone.
4) Click the button in ODIN labeled "PDA", and then browse to the .tar file you downloaded above and then select "Open". The file will show up next to the PDA button.
5) Make sure that "Re-Partition" is NOT checked!;
6) Click "Start" and wait till your phone reboots. It should reboot into normal mode. If it doesn't, just power down and reboot into normal mode.
7) Copy the SuperUser.zip file you downloaded above to your phones microSD card.
8) Reboot the phone into recovery mode: While pushing and holding both the vol up and vol down buttons, push the power button. As soon as you see "SAMSUNG" flash, release the buttons. You shouldn't need to have the phone connected to the computer this time. The phone will boot into CWM recovery.
9) using either: the "menu" button to move down and the "home" button to move your selection up; or alternately the volume down button to move down, and the volume up button to move up: highlight "install zip from sdcard". Use the "search" button or power button to select/enter.
10) highlight "choose zip from sdcard" and press the "seach" button to select it.
11) browse to the directory which you copied SuperUser to and select it.
12) scroll down to "Yes - Install Superuser" and select it.
13) Once done, reboot your phone into normal operating mode.
14) If rooting Gingerbread, see Section IV below.
15) If rooting either Gingerbread or ICS, see section V below.
16) If having issues with Root, see section VI below.
IV) Rooting Gingerbread?:
Last: Finish up (Steps 1-4 are ONLY needed if you are still using GingerBread and not Ice Cream Sandwich):
NOTE: Your buttons (the four at the bottom) WILL NOT work at this point. You need to do the following:
======
1) Push your phone dialer as if you were going to make a call.
2) Dial *#*#2663#*#*.
3) You will see the attached thumbnail below on your phone (stolen from j3r3goss).
4) press the bottom button that says "Touch key FW update". Wait. Once it's finished, your bottom row of buttons will work again!
Note: If you are on GB, and not ICS, every time you boot into recovery and then back into operational mode, you will need to do the four steps in this section above!
======
V) Using either GB or ICS:
You do need to do these last steps (I believe):
5) ADDENDUM/UPDATE: At this point, there is one last thing you need to do!: You must go to "Settings/Applications/Development" and Enable USB Debugging! If you don't do this, you will NOT be able to get root access! Also, if for any reason you turn off USB Debugging, make sure you turn it back on! If you lose root access, check this FIRST! If you still can't get root access, boot into recovery mode and wipe the Dalvik Cache, the regular Cache, and "Fix Permissions". Then double check to make sure USB Debugging is ENABLED!
6) You're done! Your phone is now rooted and you can do whatever you want! :highfive:
VI) TROUBLESHOOTING:
If you run into problems
1) Check to make sure that SuperUser is installed on your phone. Check the apps section first, and then, use RootExplorer and check the System/bin folder. If you see SuperUser is in the system/bin folder, then you are very close to being rooted.
If it is not installed:
a) make sure that you copied the superuser.zip file to the EXTERNAL sdcard.
i) Boot the phone up normally
ii) plug the phone into your computer, pull the notification bar down, select USB connection, and tap the "Connect USB storage" button.
iii) Using Winbloze explorer, copy the SuperUser.zip to the external sdCard (on my computer, it is drive F:, and the Internal is drive G.
iv) disconnect once the copy is finished and use any file explorer on your phone to check the contents of the external sdCard (look in the "sdcard/external_sd" folder)
v) if it's not there, then you are doing something wrong. If it is there, shut down the phone, and boot into CWM recovery.
vi) Use CWM recovery to install the superuser.zip file on your phone.
vii) reboot into normal mode
viii) check to make sure that you have enabled USB Debugging
viii) check again to see if SuperUser is now in your apps, and in the system/bin folder.
ix) Run SuperUser 1x, and then close it out.
x) Run ANY app that requires Root Permissions. You should get a request from SuperUser to "Allow" or "Deny" the app root access. Make sure you allow root access. If you make a mistake, you'll need to launch superuser again and completely remove the app from the denied list.
2) Make sure USB Debugging is enabled.
3) if you still can't get root, boot into CWM Recovery, and try clearing the cache and the Dalvik cache, and resetting permissions, then reboot and check everything again. You may need to do this last step several times.
Beyond that, I don't know what else might be causing you to not gain root access, so keep trying.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the write-up Black-wolf.
I wasn't aware that the touch key fw needed to be updated each time after booting recovery, hopefully that is something that will be fixed when Shabbypenguin gets his hands on the stock recovery.
Personally I find the easiest, works every time method to get into Download mode is to have the usb cable plugged into the pc, then while holding the volume up/down buttons, plug the cable into the phone, continue holding vol up/down buttons until download mode boots.

Yeah, I figured that out when I went to boot recovery to check something, and then came out of it and the keys weren't working again... :/ At least there's a work around. I suspect, that this is something that an automated app could handle if Shabby or someone else doesn't come up with a permanent fix.

Any update on getting the stock recovery? I blew through rooting my Exhilarate before I noticed the request for help or I would have offered.
The root seems to be working OK for me. JuiceDefender is working great with it to throttle the CPU clock speeds and has really improved my battery life. Also worked OK in blocking all the bloatware apps with the Gemini App Manager. So I don't really have a reason to unroot and go back to stock firmware, but it would be nice to have the option available should I ever hit a problem.
Thanks for all you guys hard work!

Dream_Killer: No, we have not gotten a stock recovery. I've had several inquiries into it, but so far as I know, Shabby has not been able to help out in this regard. I am willing to try myself, but I'll need an un-rooted (and it must never have been rooted) phone.

To get into stock recovery you...
1. open a command terminal on your computer.
2. type cd (where ever you have your ADB located on your computer) for example my is located in desktop/platform-tools so the command would be "cd desktop/platform-tools"
3. type "adb"
4. type "adb reboot recovery"
Presto you are in stock recovery.

We know how to boot into the stock recovery. What we need is to pull the stock recovery image off of the phone so that we can restore the phone to stock.
Btw.. pressing both volume keys while turning on the phone will get you there also.
I rooted the exhilarate. Loaded the t mobile blaze cm7 rom. And all works like a charm. The only thing is you can't make a call. You can,you just can't hear. I called my other phone and it went through. The speaker doesn't work. Mms and all works. Just not the speaker...... why? This wud. Be a awsome rom for this phone.. think we can find a fix?

I'm not exactly sure but it might be just as simple as replacing the audio libs on the blaze rom with the ones from the exhilarate. I'm not sure which files though.
I'm curious if by coming together (blaze and exhilarate users) if there would be enough interest to get official cm support. if the only major diff is audio they could basically support 2 devices for the price of one.

If i knew/or had the kno how, shoot id do it. Is there a program u need to change the libs?. This is a pretty sweet device.
i think you just need root explorer, and copy the new ones over the old ones. I'll look to see if i can find out which files need swapped. Should be able to make a zip to flash through CWM recovery.

NFC for Exhilarate!
All: rodracruz found a thread for enabling NFC on AT&T phones. Apparently, the Samsung Exhilarate does have NFC - but why the hell AT&T has it disabled, I have not idea... In any case, check out this thread and follow the instructions to enable it on your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545751
There are even links as to some of the things you can do with NFC.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have anything to do with the audio lib files. More so most likely a kernel, modem, or APN problem.
Edit: not to mention the build.prop is completely written for the blaze. I'm working on some things. I'll let you guys know tonight. I wish there was source for this damn phone.

Hw-t18 / utano barrier t180 / agm rock v5 / jcb tp909 / cat b10 firmware; root; other

Folks, this post relates, to all the rugged phones above, which codename is HW-T18. They're made for many companies, but the firmware is universal, and since I know it's tested on Utano, AGM, and FortisX - rest is up to you on testing. Since there is not a specific part of forum, which relates to theese phones, I decided to make a separate topic thus here are few scattered, which doesn't give full info about rooting, or firmware updates. I do think it's neccessary, couse on my own, recently, when I tried to make phone better - messed up too much, and bricked the phone. I've searched for two days, with the help of few people from the forum, but finally came to some solutions, which should be all gathered in one place.
So first and foremost the firmware update. If you run on android 2.2, or you have 2.3.5 and need to flash it again, following this link
h t t p : / / share.branddistribution.de/utano_outdoor/sw/utano_BARRIER_T180_ANDROID_2_3_5_1.rar
you can find a 2.3.5.1 firmware. It should be placed on a SD card in folder /image
Now a tricky part. If you have 2.2 android, push the camera and powe button at the same time
If you have a 2.3.5 press camera/volume down/volume up/power at the same time
The phone, will vibrate twice, and probabily won't show anything for a few minutes. During this time, do not press anything, nor try to remove the battery. After approx 5 min, it's reboot with new firmware nothing more simple - so if it happens to brick the phone, there's a way to rescue it
ROOTING
Download the root.zip file below - place it on SD card. Power off the phone - power on again but to do it - press both power and home key (the one in the middle of hardware keys), keep the home screen pressed, untill welcome screen shows. Release the key, and when a droid with exclamation mark shows, press it again to run recovery mode - then navigate /volume up/ down and camera button to confirm, and choose "apply update from sdcard" choose the root.zip file, and after install is complete, reboot system, and enjoy rooted system.
I hope that I helped, if you have any questions related to this model, feel free to ask here. Maybe owners of this specific phone, together will find answers to them
Of course I'm not responsible for any damage you may couse - it worked for me, and few other people I've talked with, and read about
Hi!
I tried this flash now. When pressed buttons the phone vibrated only ones, and now stay in red screen 20 minutes ago... What can i do with it? I don't wanna make brick
WBR
qwerthj
now i connected to usb, and now on screen:
welcome update
fastboot: processing read commands
so, i think update is not started
Had the same - remove the battery, put inside again, and run the update again - be sure, to hold the buttons a bit longer untill it vibrates twice.
Have you updated 2.2 or reflashed 2.3.5?
I was afraid of a brick also - but it passed the second time no problem.
I have a phone AGM Rock v5 (HW-T18), root successfully by the above method. But the memory of the small machine can not install the application.Always runs out of memory, only 12MB.Please ask any ROM memory to overcome than not, I desperately need. Thank you

There's a way to free some memory - try to uninstall any updates, that are installed to "google maps" "street view" "gmail" and any other system apps you find. When you do so, you should have like 60MB of free memory available - but important, to maintain it, check for google play settings, to update the apps, only by you (not the automatic update), otherwise, the system apps, will update again automatically, and again you will lack, the memory.
The other way, is to create a second partition on the SD card, and moove the system apps there (by using a LINK2SD - it somewhere here on the forum), but it didn't work out for me though.

Hello guys,
I dont know if this is hte right place to post my question, so please redirect me if Im wrong.
Ijust bought an AGM Rock V5 Android 2.3.5. In the specification is said : "WCDMA SIM Band (Cellular) UMTS:850/1900/2100 MHz"
however I can only get Edge connectivity, no matter in what SIM slot I place the sim card. I am in Mexico and the network operator is Telcel which has 850 megahertz and 1900 megahertz frequencies.
I have sent emails to my vendors and AGM support, but I have not had any answer from them.
Do you know if there something else I need to configure in the phone or it may be damage?
Thanks and I appreciate your kind response.

CAT B10 HW-T18 Firmware
Hi could somone provide a guide to extract the full rom of the HW-T18 model cat-b10 for the purpose of flashing the rom to another B10 device.
I currently have some B10's without the language i need and some with the right language
So i was hoping to extract the rom from a phone with the language and then flashing it to the ones missing the language.
If there is an easier way to acheive my goal (adding missing system locale/lang) please let me know (morelocale2 and other apps has been no help)

Guys, as far as I'm concerned there is only one rom available for this device - see the links in the first post. I know nothing about any other roms.
I've compared it to a "clean not flashed" AGM rock V5 straight from china - the compilation # is almost identicall with the one from the link.
Also as far as I know, noone has managed to extract a proper rom, from this device. What language do you need, that is not available?

To be honest, I don't know why you're not available to use WCDMA, where I live (Europe) it works without any problems. One thing important, it works only on one sim slot - the primary one. Go to settings networks/mobile networks/choose a subscription 1/ enable wcdma
If it does not work I cannot help ya.

If you have a 2.3.5 press camera/volume down/volume up/power at the same time
The phone, will vibrate twice, and probabily won't show anything for a few minutes.

This part on the B10 is darn tricky since buttons are so hard you can't feel if they are all pressed or not when pressing all four had to try several times to eventually flash.

Try searching for posts relating to making flashable files. Making such a file, is not a problem. What can be - is flashing, since original recovery does not support such files, as far as I know. I've tried to flash several times, when I had a problem with a phone, with missing files, but none flash file, could be read properly, by a standard recovery.
If you find and install a working recovery, for this device, then making a flashable zip file, would be just a formality.
i don't wanna pack the entire rom in a zip just the bootanim launcher app and few other cat apps since thats the only thing that set the B10 appart from the other rom
was hoping to flash them in similar way as your root zip
then flashing the rom then flashing root flashing app pack and my goal would be achieved
actually root would be unnecessary to fix the language prob.

[Q] DROID3 XT862 for pageplus and T-Mobile

Hi,
The system version is 5.7.906.XT862.Verizon.en.US
It was unlocked, rooted and installed root explorer ready to modify to work with US GSM ( Lycamobile also)
Here is where I got info to follow
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1989359
However, I have some concerns need help
1- will the instruction and the first build.prop file in the above link will work with my phone?
2- Can I use the phone with both pageplus ( being flashed with TalkForGood) and T-Mobile ( Lycamobile later)? I saw the same question without answer here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425519
3- Can I use the phone oversea as a global phone without a need to follow the above link in Non-US GSM Networks session?
4- In case I want to go back stock image ( revert to the original one after messing it up), how?
To Skreelink, thank for your instruction but can you or anyone show me where to do the "required options" part because I simply couldn't find what you mentioned in my phone under Wireless & Network setting -> Mobile Network.
( I tried to post this under the above post but couldn't)
Thanks

1: The link you provided is my information and files for KEXEC ROMs, such as CM10.2 or AOKP. For the stock rom (As you listed 906), you will want to go here.
2: If you flash the XT883 radio for US GSM networks (like T-Mobile) you will not be able to flip between them via software toggle, you will have to flash the stock radio + swap build.prop back to stock and OTA on PagePlus, vice versa when you want to use the other network. (I wanted the same thing, I solved it by getting a Motorola Razr M XT907). The main reason for this is; The XT883 radio expects an RUIM card (CDMA version of SIM) and without it, puts it in emergency only mode. Verizon/PagePlus/Sprint/other US CDMA networks do not use the RUIM so no real way around this.
3: To use it as a global phone, just restore the stock radio and build.prop, it should work without issue WITHOUT MODIFICATION, as long as you have input the SIM unlock code to unlock the phone. You *can* use the XT883 radio globally, but both radios will work for global GSM.
4: To return to stock, follow this thread.
thank you
The best answer I have ever seen.
So if I buy Motorola Razr M XT907 to achieve the goal Pageplus/T-mobile, where is the best procedure I should follow?
Thank you very much.

I follow the above link to flash my Droid3 with the current stock image.
The flash was done then I rebooted the phone.
However, I was unable to replaced the build.prop file
I couldn't change its properties or owner or overwrite the file.
I see the instruction here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406812&page=3
but I couldn't overwrite the original file with the modified one.
I rooted the phone already.
I am not sure what I did was wrong.
Please help.
Thanks,

You either have to use adb or a root browser. Rom Toolbox Lite has one, ES File explorer also has one. I'm sure other apps have a root browser, but I've not used others.Rom Toolbox's root browser allows you to longpress for a menu to change permissions.
Help please

Thank you for your fast reply.
I use totalcommander that run with superuser permission.
With a long press on the file, I go to property and set up with all permission ( 777)
After I hit OK to confirm the change, nothing happens but when I check again, it is still (rw-r--r--)
I have superuser installed.
I am stuck now.
Is there a way to browse and copy overwrite via windows or before the phone is up ( using usb cable)
Help please

If the permissions are not sticking, then the app you're using either does not have root privledges, is not performing correctly, or your root isn't correct. Try updating your superuser binary via the superuser app. Although, rw-r--r-- should be just fine, 777 would 'pose' a security threat since it would allow any app to modify it. Long as you replace it with the one required for GSM, rw-r--r-- permissions should work.

Sorry, didn't see this until now... getting the Razr M on pageplus is a real pain, though T-Mobile would be simple. It's a matter of getting the computer to read the diag port (you have to manually select the driver) and simply editing ONE NV-Item, then any GSM sim will work (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc).
Here is one of my posts with a quick guide about unlocking a razr m for gsm.
THANK YOU

I install Rom Toolbox Lite, it failed to verify root.
I check in SuperUser app and found a check mark "Temp Unroot"
I clear and run update for superuser.
Then I remove Rom ToolBox Lite and install again.
I then use Root browser from its link.
Each time it prompts permission of su.
I copy and paste sucessfully.
Reboot the phone and it work in T-Mobile NOW.
It WORKS now.
Thank you so much.
According to your answer in my first post, I can use this phone with GSM oversea without modification ?
Can you help on the link to the instruction of the phone model that can toggle between Pageplus/T-mobile.
I am much appreciated your help.

The Droid 3 requires flashing the radio and build.prop to swap between CDMA/GSM
UNLESS it it is a foreign GSM network like Rogers in Canada, then the stock radio works without modification. The XT907 Razr M can do a software toggle between them (Network mode under Mobile Networks like the D3) but setting up PagePlus requires a lot of work for data, though GSM is a lot easier to get working than the D3. You can still go ahead and activate the D3 on pageplus, just after you flash between radios, you have to OTA program each time.
question for help

Thank you.
I think I can do the same process with the image file from the original and overwrite the build.prop with original.
I did back up the build.prop but not the radio.img
Where can I find the Droid 3 radio.img of 906 version?
I want it simple as a reverting from what I did because I already removed all Verizon apps and install my apps in the current image.
A recovery task can bring back the original image.
** Oversea I meant is Vietnam
Thank again,

Sorry it took me so long, I had a long hectic day, but Here it is.
Just flash it like you did the XT883 radio and put a stock build.prop in (you should have backed up the original). Then you should be able to OTA program with *228 if it's activated on pageplus.
THANK YOU
