[Q] Voodoo Root keeper unable to restore root - Asus Transformer TF700

Hey Guys,
today i donwgraded from Jelly Bean .20 to ICS .30. I rooted my tab an root did work in ICS. After i had saved root with OTA root keeper i went up to jelly bean (OTA). Now i'm on jelly bean again but root keeper wont restore my root!. When i click on restore, it says "root su restored". Nothing else happens. In voodoo the field "device rooted" stays empty. I did reinstall superuser and even voodoo (surprisingly it has my root saved even after reinstallation) and restarted my tab (normally and cold boot) but it didn't lead to success.
Does someone has an idea what to do? Or was all the downgreading and restoring useless?
greetings saugstauber

Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1976150

Or download SuperSU from the Play Store, reboot and see if that fixes it.

Thanks, but it seems not to work :/
I attached a picture of how it looks like, if I click restore root.
Edit: i just wanted to add that i have superuser deinstalled and SuperSU installed and rebooted.

Redownload superuser from the market, open it up and do the update, then try the OTA rootkeeper again. If OTA hang, just un install the superSU then try again.

Now with superSU and superuser installed i tried to restore root, but it's the samy like before
What do you exactly mean with "do the update" ?
Thanks!

So when you restore root from OTA rootkeeper, you received a message that root restored but you still don't have root. Redownload OTA root keeper then do root restore again, if still not working then try to open up superuser and supersu then try again.

Thanks for this really easy to understand guidance.
Unfortunately even a reboot after performing your guide didn't help.
I'm desperated...

It's very odd, OTA stills see that you have a backup, but failed to restore. Can you open up superuser and there is an option to check for update, do the update, if there is an update, un install OTA, reinstall OTA and try again.

When I click on "click to check for updates" it says "manifeste is downloading... Didn't work" (it's Actually German so I tried to translate it). Than I click on "try again" (at the bottom) and superuser crashes ("superuser was unfortunately closed").

something is wrong there, I just tried and it displayed in English and updated fine. Check your firmware SKU version and superuser.

Have you tried following this guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926147
This thread was posted in a link earlier on in the conversation but you might have missed it. I used a few days ago it to take mine down to 9.4.30 and back up to 10.4.20 whilst keeping route.

He want to fix it as is, he doesn't want to start over.

@buhohitr: The German language might be because of I'm from Germany
My SKU is WW like before.
@DNO: I saw your link, thanks! But for me that is the last solution to try. Hopefully we/I can manage to gain root without having to downgrade again.

Hey guys,
today i was so pissed of having no root, that i did jkvato's method.
Now i have in OTA root keper all squares marked, but apps like titanium backup don't gain root access and root checker says i have no proper root access.
I already de and reinstalled superuser, but without success.

(fixed) Transformer only booting into recovery

Hi guys.
I have something strange hapening all of the suden.
I woke up one morning after leaving my transformer on standby.
After opening the case the screen was in recovery mode.
I did not change anything that i know of.
Also booting over and over did not work and returned to recovery every time.
BUT...if i reboot while pressing vol down i can cool/cold boot linux and the rom starts up normal.
After a while (i don't exactly know when and why) the recovery is showing again when i want to use my TF.
I also restored to an earlier rom but still the same problem.
I am now running fresh installed aokp milestone 5 by the way.
Who knows what my problem is?

You can use the Fix-Recovery-Bootloop option included in my PERI tool, it runs roach's fix and should help you out. Just run it from android and cold boot when you need to reboot.

Finaly i got it to work. My transformer is booting ok now.
I used the roach recovery i downloaded from the botom link.
Then i folowed the explanation in the first link by baseballfanz.
That worked for me.
I tried the PERI tool of Thing O Doom but i must have been doing something wrong.
Setting up sdk for adb or what ever. It worked for the first part, rebooted but didn't want to install the recovery.
But the tool looks to set things up great but my part in the shackel (you know thevpart of the chane) wasn't that great
Thanks for helping this noob out.
By the way....if there is another recovery update in rom manager can i just update again?
Or will i get stuck in reboot again?
Thanks again guys

Q: Rooting and installing a custom rom/kernel

Hello thanks for reading my thread. I had a few questions about rooting and installing a custom rom. I have had a few Android phones such as the G1, Epic and the SG2 Hercules. I believe for the SG2 we used odin to root and install cwr. I was wondering if there is a tutorial to root and install cwr so I can install a rom/kernel on my new transformer. Thanks.

10.6.1.14.8

I have heard that doing a system update on a rooted device might mess things up so I am asking if 10.6.1.14.8 update is worth the trouble to re root the device?
a re-root is pretty quick on MotoChopper isn't it?
Or just use OTA_rootkeeper
I'm on 10.6.1.14.8, unlocked and rooted, and would like to install CROMi-Xenogenesis 4.6.1. Is it safe to do so or do I need 10.6.1.14.4 as it's stated in the Cromi-x thread?
It will work fine mate
Thank You Sir!
But do I need to un root before doing the update or? If it is even possible to un root.

If you are rooted you can update fine. Either use ota root keeper or motochopper to reroot as you will lose root during the upgrade process. Also make sure you haven't deleted any Asus system apps or modified them else the ota update process will fail.

The file system on JB 4.2 is driving me mad! Just hate it! The stock file browser just "knows" where to look, but I am used to having control of my file structure and this just sucks!
It's due to the multiple user account option in 4.2 supposedly.... and I don't use that anyway

[Q] Rooting without Odin

Hello everyone
Before 2-3 weeks my beloved phone was fallen into my sink with water flowing
It works well, but the USB port now seems to work not good.. I've tried it on my PC and one another PC with different cables but it does not connect
So I wanted yesterday to make an update to 4.2.2 via Kies but as I mentioned it does not recognise it and odin too..
I thought to use mobile odin, but unfortunately, I went to stock (without root) before a few weeks..
So my question is, is it possible to root my phone without a PC?
Can I simply root it via stock recovery or would it brick then?

Oh I'm sorry. I meant that you can root without PC (usually people roots without PC), but you need to have CWM to root your device and to get it you need to have PC and flash it with Odin.
And BTW do you have Kies installed or do you have drivers for you phone on your PC?

Maybe right direction, but unfortunately not that what I'm searching for. It says ' Also, a recovery that uses "OpenRecoveryScript", such as TWRP, is recommended. You may try it on CWMR, but it may not be able to flash anything depending on the build.'
Since I have stock recovery, this method isn't possible
But before a few hours I find out that my stock recovery is useless too, cause of that open android which is lying, with an red triangle and black exclamation mark, which appears every time when I choose a option
I believe the only solution is to get my beloved to manufacturer for a repair hope I still have warranty although there's water damage
Or knows anyone more solutions?

No rooting and Helium backup is not working either.
I think it is a good thing in my situation, give me a chance to choose which apps I really need than just transfer all my apps from another phone using Titanium backup.

Maybe someone should try root methods like superoneclick. Maybe this is working. I can't test it by myself, because I get my moto g next week.

i'm guessing that the process will be:
1) Unlock bootloader
2) Flash CWM recovery in fastboot
3) Flash SuperSU using CWM recovery
The only thing we don't have is a working CWM build for our device. I tried uploading the recovery.img taken from the stock system image to Koush's auto CWM builder http://builder.clockworkmod.com/ but the build failed hopefully a working build will appear soon!
