I have user superclean and pick n pack roms and tried several kernels but for some reason when I get a notification the sound is extremely laggy and weird sounding I t doesn't do it as bad if the screen is awake but when its off its real bad. Ive even tried moving the tones to the phone memory under notification sounds and its still the same way. It doesn't do this on phone calls just notifications. Is there something in the voodoo control app causing this? I had replaced my old showcase with this new one as I messed the other one up and I never had this problem with it. Any help would be appreciated.

I have had that happen a few times but not consistently. A battery pull usually takes care of it for me.

Yeah ive tried that and it seems to make it better for z little bit but then starts happening again

Sometimes when I get a new text I don't get any notification at all. Does anyone else have this happen?

Sorry about the double notification thing!

Same here. I'll get notifications fine all day, then I'll get three texts from one person without a single notification. It doesn't matter if the Messaging app is loaded or not or has focus or not.
It is on, its just with a few messages here and there

I have this same issue.
Its an issue that hopefully will get fixed with an update. It has happened to me a bunch of times.
ditto that, hopefully with the next software update will fix it. But, at the same time some people having issue with the update (1.85) that should rolling out today by ATT experience dropping calls and less reception. Personally i prefer late notification than drop calls. Dont you think?
Agreed

Known issue. I've added the messaging widget to my home screen to make sure I don't miss anything.

I had all notifications to vibrate in the SOUNDS menu but SMS still didn't vibrate. Didn't think to look under the menu under the SMS screens. Thank You!
Ok, my Samsung Captivate stopped ringing when someone is trying to call me. And I can't hear anything when I put it on 'speaker phone'.
It looks like the speaker phone (in the back is dead)? Yes, I've checked many times to make sure the call volume is on at the highest setting.
And I can no longer hear any sound when playing game or listening to music/video.
Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks

Lots of people have had success with just pushing the speaker down with their thumb, but I had to take the phone apart and mess with a connection for a permanent fix. Search this site for speaker fixes.
Thanks guys. I push the speaker down a few times and it seems to work now.

Anyone else have this problem? Can't imagine I'm missing a setting.... Mute generally means mute.
According the this screen shot all sound should be off, correct. Dumb question but I want to make sure I'm not missing something.

So, I'm the only lucky one with this problem? It's not a big enough deal to return to it but it is annoying.

Okay, sounds will not shut off no matter which method I try. Any ideas? Factory reset my week old phone
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Audio manager from the play store effectively shuts the sound off if anyone else has this problem.

Samsung wants me to send the phone in to fix this but I'm not sure being without a phone for a week or more is worth. Plus, I'm pretty sure if I install a custom ROM this problem will disappear. I'm frustrated, this is a stupid easy problem to fix (with an app) but a BRAND NEW phone should not have this problem to begin with. I wonder if I flashed the stock rom on top of the stock rom (lol) if that would work? Only one other person has this problem?
factory reset should fix your problem.

As a workaround you can choose "Silent" as your Notification sound.
If you only need this functionality at work for example look at Llama that will allow you to configure it very easy.

I've tried Llama before but really didn't look into it too far. Where I work is only about 3 miles from my house so I'm bouncing off the same tower in both places..... Did not work too well with Llama. Can someone check if there volume shows the same as mine when set on mute? The only thing muting is the ring tone. Just curious...

I see the same thing if I set the phone for Silent mode.
There's all different notification sound settings in this phone, I've noticed - my email accounts have their own notification settings per account, messaging has its setting, etc.
Maybe Silent mode primarily silences ringtones and doesn't prevent separate apps from making sounds? Which types of notifications continue to make sounds?
- ooofest
All of them. Anything not set to silent (email, text, messaging, etc) makes a audible notification when the phone is set on mute. Also, when my phone is set on vibrate I also have audible notifications.

From the User Manual, pg 124:
Use Silent modes to temporarily silence the sounds your
phone makes, except for media playback and alarms, or
replace them with vibration.

So, it doesn't seem to claim affecting your sounds beyond the ringer and maybe keypad noises or similar. Working as designed, it seems (not that I agree with their design, in this case).
- ooofest
To me that means it should silence notifications since it's not "media" or "alarm"? I'm just going to buy sound manager since it has more options anyway..... $2.99 to end my frustration with this

I would classify "alarm" as notifications, in trying to interpret their jargon for the context given.
Yeah, an app which can configure sounds across all your apps and settings seems best, here.

Appreciate you looking that up in the manual. I actually downloaded it after your post . I bought the app and set my work and mute profiles... Nice app. I know this is stupid thing to worry about but it gets frustrating when I get woke up or a notification goes off during a meeting. Silent on the sound manager app silences everything.

I know this is an old post but thanks for the tip. I was in class last night and someone was giving a speech and all of a sudden my phone starts whistling. I thought it was in mute, apparently the notifications were not. I'll give sound manager a try.
Actually I've had no problems since the jelly bean update.

Hmm, mine was still having the issue, even after I installed Sound Manager that you suggested. I found one "AudioMuter" that worked perfect for me for 0.99.

While i was calling someone i notice that every once in a while my phone makes a beep. after that call i noticed that while playing a game the phone made the same noise more then once. Its not to loud but when im making a call (as the phone is near my ear) its realy annoying.
Can some one help me with this?
INFO ABOUT THE BEEP:
its not an internal sound, it looks like coming from the ear speaker.
i think the sound is randomly timed (not from X minutes to X minutes)
i have official v20e ROM and its rooted.
Incoming call?

you think a new rom may fix?
A beep (or a few) indicates an incoming call while you're in another call. It is not your ringtone, just a beep that repeats every few seconds until the other party ends the call before you end your current call or switch to the incoming call.
Try it

Or it could be some sort of call's duration reminder. With some phones and operators you could have that kind of reminder. But this won't explain it while playing music

Have tried many roms but still had it. Maybe my beep was hardware related but you should try.

Search lg optimus 3d beep on youtube...and click on the first video...is this the beep? I can't post external links
Also i have got this problem...in my phone it happens when i play Halfbrick Games(Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride)...i contact Halfbrick and also LG Italy in a forum and they answer to me that they don't know what the problem can be...there is also another effect...with this beep the temperature of the battery goes really hot! But i repeat the problem appears when i play Halfbrick games...is really strange!
Nope thats not the beep i used to have
Get the beeps to occur, then post a logcat of it happening
I had it too but I just feel it as a normal thing now, happens when phone is using alot of RAM and CPU and temperature goes high, might be warning or something.
but what about the beep on the video? anyone know what is it?
Its an internal speaker sounding beep you get from PC's for hardware errors or notifications. I noticed this beep with mine when the CPU clock was too high or there was a low memory situation. It will reset your clock to default after it beeps from what I've noticed. May not be the same issue you are referring to, but it seems to be hardware related.

I have this when I'm playing "chicken invaders" game and after playing I have to end it from App manager to stop the beeping
you can watch witch app is forcing the phone to beep:cyclops:
