[Q] Galaxy note flashing question! - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone. I have a question regarding flashing n8000 roms on a n8010 . What will it happen if i want to flash a rom that is supposed to be for the n8000 version on my n8010? For example I want to flash this rom:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1883022 on my n8010. Could you guys please tell me if something will happen to my tablet if i will flash this rom over(i have to mention that right now i have ressurection remix v3.1.1 on it). I hope someone can help DD

You can flash N800X series ROMs on N801X series devices, for the most part. There is a bug with the current Jelly Bean ROMs for the N800X series, where they'll randomly reboot while the tablet sits idle. There is talk that there may be a fix, but otherwise those ROMs work fine.

Just remember to backup your current rom in CWM 1st, and to ext card...

Ok,so i have installed the rom i have putted the link on the first post,it's working fine but it restarts my n8010 sometimes. Any ideas how to fix this? DD

Look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982821
You can get a app like setcpu to set the govenor to ondemand for the reboot problem and there is a file so you dont see
the no connection stuff.....

[Q] GT-5113 Stock Firmware

Hi,
I want to know if there is any way to restore my tab to stock firmware? I can't find any links for GT-5113 ROM.
The reason to store the stock ROM is that I have installed CM9 on my tab and now I am unable to install Infected / Cleanrom. It hangs on Samsung boot screen after installing these roms via CWM.
Thanks.

As you realized AFTER the fact, creating a thread in development means you have something to offer to others,
not asking questions. FYI: I stopped using CM9 ROMs a long time ago because they frequently contain MANY
hidden bugs, only work properly when loaded with certain kernels, certain CWMs ... bottom line is you're
just one of the latest victims. Try a factory reset. Then ODIN the CWM in my Root thread. Then install
the ORIGINAL v1.0 CleanRom. It's the best of current custom ROMs and NO, we still don't have a stock GT-P5113.

We had the same situation, so hope this help.
I used odin to flash the gt-5110 stock Rom followed the guide in restore stock rom in galaxy tab 2 general section .After flashed my model gt-5113 became gt5110...lolz then i flashed the Clean Rom v1.1 then my model was back to Gt-5113..now I decide to stay at stock rom because Cm9 sucks...waiting for Aokp official.
If have any question pm me, I'll think i can help your tab 2 back to stock. [email protected]

Thanks, will try both the suggestions one by one.
The only problem with ODIN at the moment is that you can't reset the flash counter, I already have it at 3
Solved
Hi Glenn,
I was able to install CleanRom, by installing the CWM posted in your thread.
Thanks.

When you flashed the 5110 rom, did you have a problem with the language (Mine is currently in a foreign language)?
if so, when you flashed the Clean Rom did your tablet revert to the proper language?
Thanks
You can restore to stock using my guide. (link in signature) It should now be in English.

[Q] shw m110s

good day to all..
im new with this phone..this one is a korean version of galaxy s1(shw m110s)
im confused with how to install custom roms here...
what do i need to download..a kernel or a custom rom?
thanks xda
Moved to General Q&A.
The kernel allows the ROM to communicate with the hardware specific to your device. All ROMs have a kernel build-in. If the custom ROM is designed fir your phone, it will work fine. If the ROM was intended for a device in the same family as yours, you can flash that ROM, then flash the kernel for your phone, & it'll work. If the ROM was designed for a completely different device, nothing will get it to work.
Remember to always do a nandroid backup before flashing stuff!!

ROM Porting

I have Samsung Galaxy Tab II 7.0 (GT-P3100)
It came with ICS 4.0.3 upgradable to 4.1.1
While playing around with it, I rooted it, installed a Custom Recovery (CWM) and a Custom ROM (CyanogenMod 10.1), Android version 4.2.1.
Now everything is just fine except a few bugs that are normal in Nightly Builds.
I want to re-install my Stock ROM because I want to sell it and the buyer wants official stock ROM.
One of my friends has the same handset (GT-P3100) with same baseband version (P3100DDLG1)
The only thing that he did was that he updated his one to official JB update OTA (4.1.1)
He also rooted his phone.
Now, I want you people to help me, how can I copy his Tab's ROM and install that on mine.
I want instructions to be easy and porting procedure simple.
Like the way I install updates for CM 10.1
Thanks.

Wrong forum, my friend: you have the Galaxy Tab II (GT-P3100), while this is for the Galaxy Tab 7.7 (GT-P6800/6810/I815).
But the answer would be the same.. You don't want to port a ROM (that would be trying to make a Galaxy Note 10.1 ROM run on the Galaxy Tab II 10.1, for example: make a ROM run on a device where it wasn't meant to run): you want to "transfer" a ROM between two different devices. And that is quite easy. Your friend makes a CWM backup. You get that backup on your tablet, and restore that backup. Then you'll have the exact same kernel, system and data as he does. Then, you factory reset to erase the data, and you'll have the ROM as if you'd just installed it fresh. You'll probably still be rooted, though.
A more straightforward way would be to simply download the ROM you want from SamMobile and install it through Odin.

Thanks for the Answer Brother...
Actually I'm new to XDA forums, that is why I'm a little confused between "forums", "porting", "posts", "topics", "transfer"...
Anyways I know how to make the Backup of ROM in CWM although I don't have any idea where are the files stored on the tablet.
I mean when my friend creates a backup via CWM, where will be the "Backup ROM" stored (path)
if you can help...
Thanks in advance.

[Q] How to Root Samsung Galaxy S 4G and Install Jelly Bean 4.3 (CyanoGenMod)

Hi Guys,
I am an IT person, but totally new to Android. I am having Samsung Galaxy S 4G (T959v) running GingerBread (2.3.6).
I had upgraded from Froyo to GingerBread using Kies mini... and since that I am facing a lot of issues running... like slow responsiveness, phone hangs, some times unable to make calls, very high RAM usage etc...
So to fix these issues, I am thinking to install custom ROM (Jelly Bean 4.3 - CyanogenMod 10.2). But I don't know how to do that.
What I read on thread is it first needs to ROOT the device, but I am not sure how to ROOT the device.
Please help me to ROOT the device in easy steps and install custom ROM.. (Off course without bricking my device )
Thanks.
Look at the second link in my signature. Instead of flashing the whole package just flash AntonX's kernel. Read the first couple of posts in the Heimdal thread and you will hopefully know what I am referring to.
From there, follow the directions in the OP of the ROM thread that you would like to flash. The OP will also tell you what works and does not work for that ROM.
I would suggest making a backup copy of your efs folder for the just in case..

[Q] Tab 7.7", Best Custom Rom that works with CWM. .....?

Can somebody please suggest on what's the best ROM available. My Tab is 3G and Wifi.
Thank you.
J
Daniel`s Carbon Rom 4.4.4 is for me the most stable. Although the latest CM12.1 I just installed seems awesome.
Oups, sorry I did not read the title.
To install the best available ROM, you need to install TWRP 2.8.3.1 - p6800 as described in Android Development subforum
Guys, I need some FAQ pn my P6800. I did install some custom ROMs - now have CM12.1 from Daniel. For some reason all of custom roms were (and are) really unstable (frequent reboots, long lasting lags). Compared to stock icecream sandwitch all of them were worse I read some feedbacks and assume that it is my specific issue. So I would like to doublecheck if I do everything right. I have one latest TW recovery, wipe everything and just install the rom from zip. There is no need to flash a dedicated file for kernel (like they have it in sony devices), or something like that, correct?
