OTG cable and NTFS read/write supported? - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

I was blessed to receive a few usb flash drives lately, and a OTG cable is on its way (although from Hong Kong it might take a while). I was wondering if anyone has had success with otg cables + flash drive/external hd with the Blaze. If not, can something like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1724078 be added to the kernel? I would love to be able to use this new flash drive with my Blaze as now I always have the flash drive with me

Sorry for the long wait, I got the cable finally and have the flash drive mounted and working. I did end up using a mounting app from the app store though for the NTFS support. Everything is working fine, I even tested fat32 and it was working as well.

Got a PS3 controller? Try to get that to work with the OTG...I'm wondering if our phone supports it over OTG, I know it does via bluetooth if your phone is rooted, but unfortunately it has to use the secondary connection method, which means you can't also listen to music over a bluetooth headset with the controller going like you can with phones that use the primary connection method in the sixaxis app.

I do not have a PS3 controller with me atm, but I will Sunday most likely. What app are you using it with? I'll try and connect and see.

I'm not sure how using a ps3 controller to connect works with otg. It's likely an app, but maybe not. I've only done it with bluetooth, which is why I posted!
Oh well, I ordered a wired (uses usb otg) gameklip the other day. The site said it works.

Make phone a Bluetooth Receiver/Dongle?

Hey guys, I have a PS3, and I want to make its controller to work with my PC, thing is, it involves having an Bluetooth USB Dongle, which I don't. An example:

Thing is my Xperia x10 has bluetooth, so why can't I make it receive the controller's signal and transmit it through USB? There must be a way to make it like a Bluetooth receiver. Do you guys know how?
wow, that is a custom software job for sure, one that is almost surely not going to work simply because the MotionJoy drivers are finnicky when it comes to bluetooth controllers.
Let me tell you from experience, you want to purchase a cheap USB dongle, one that is known to work with the MotionJoy ps3 drivers if you want any chance of getting your ps3 controller to work wirelessly with your PC. I got one for like $5-10 bucks. Save yourself the trouble and do the same.
=(
It would be soo interesting lol. But actually on the phone's part it's not that complicated, it just needs a software to make it a bluetooth receiver!
you have to install third party bluetooth apk in order to make it a receiver, you can find in at the market...cheers

I've searched for it, but without success. Which apk is it?
So as to not clutter the board with duplicate requests: I was wondering if this can be done on Windows Mobile as well? Would anyone know some apps/hacks that might enable this?
ds3 controller to non-bluetooth pc
Rooted android device > sixaxis controller app > then the droidmote app and Corresponding pc receiver
Trying to do the same but with just a regular generic phone gamepad. Any update to solutions involving this?

Xoom and USB audio devices.

hello Xoom owners,
Xoom uses USB OTG but I'm curious what capabilities does it really has.
What's more - Android 3.1 supports it's host mode.
Have anyone tried to plug a USB audio DAC/AMP/ external audio devices to your Xoom?

PS. this USB DAC has internal battery and doesn't need power supply from tablet/PC
Did you have any issues using the Fiio DAC/Amp with the Xoom?
Thanks

I tried plugging in the Korg nanoPAD and Serato. Both devices powered up but that was about it. I'm not rooted so I can't easily debug to see if the OS recognizes them even. Would be awesome if Google could give HC some DAW/Midi love, and of course some quality apps would need to follow (sigh)
I am not terribly familiar with either device. Looked up the nanoPAD and it looks like it requires a midi over USB driver to be installed, so it wouldn't have native USB Audio support like say a DAC would.
Still haven't been able to get a definite word on whether or not a DAC would work.
Thanks for the report on these peripherals, interesting to see people pushing the limits.
host mode doesn't mean that any usb device will work. Currently the only devices with built in drivers are keyboards, mice, and mass storage. Anything else requires a driver.
Sorry to dig up this thread but has anyone found a USB audio class driver for the Xoom? It appears the Xoom must have one lying around somewhere as the dock uses USB only for connection, right?
Bumping this;

It seems like the xoom needs a driver with usbaudio, then something to switch the output.

30-Pin USB & SD kit for 10.1 inch works!

I have the USB & SD 30-pin adapter kit they sold for the 10.1 Tab- i tried a flash drive into the usb and accessed files on it, same with SD card.
When i tried a keyboard/mouse combo (actually the original combo that was sold for the Samsung Q1U UMPC) it errored w/ can't support hi-voltage device. Didn't try a powered hub w/ the keyboard (kind of scared of frying it).
Mouse and keyboard works. The output is capped somewhere under 100mA as it gives that error message on stuff the iPad can handle, and its adapter is 100mA. Don't be afraid of plugging stuff in though, it can't hurt the tab
You can't hurt a device with a powered hub. Hubs will only give as much power as the USB spec says they can which all USB devices must be designed to handle. That's why there is a spec.

USB kit not working?
Just picked one of these up from best buy in hopes it would work. When i plug it in i get nothing, no notification and no action. i tried a flash drive 2 mice and 2 keyboards. any ideas?
Reboooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot
(stupid character minimum )
Yep. Looks like everytime i plug in a "high voltage" device it completely shuts down. Have to reboot. I did get it working. Thank you.
Works with SD/Multi card reader
I am using an Aluratek multi card reader and it works like a champ. Can read SD, MicroSD, pro duo ect.
Root?
For those of you that this is working for, are you rooted or not? I can't seem to get the SD adapter to work, even after multiple reboots. USB adapter works fine.
Got these also. For USB drives it appears FAT32 drives are good but NTFS drives are non-functional. Have a Lexar 64GB flash drive which doesn't show but all others do.

Both works for me, both now that I'm rooted and before I was. The Tab doesn't know the difference between the USB and SD adapters, and this is an official samsung accessory, so it sounds like your adapter is broken.

Have been rooted from Day One.
So the original Samsung will work with my 7+ ?
Just for the fun of it, Bluetooth mouse, USB wireless keyboard (with USB adapter), and remote desktop software

Are you asking about using an external wifi adapter? To get better reception of a distant free public wifi or war driving?
I haven't done it with the S4, but I don't think it would be any different once you get the adapter driver sorted out. An example, [GUIDE] Using external USB wifi .
In reverse, I use a cheap Tenda W311U USB wifi stick at work, in AP mode so I can connect my phone (official work wifi is limited). It has a Linux driver, as do many other adapters.
You might search for "Android External Wifi Adapter" instead "wlan1 adapter" and you'll get better hits.

Universal OTG USB hub reader, multiEverything?

Anyone using or tried any OTG on the v10?
I am considering getting one (all) of these...

I wonder if the first two work like the last one if I use a cable to connect to the PC, if it will function as a PC USB Card reader as well..

A friend got this for me on www.taobao.cn , so no link, there was no way to find this as there were similar products available, and since my friend gave it to me, I now have the actual item and packaging, so I can pick more up in a few days time during my visit to china.

With this reader, my friend did show me something that was not possible, with the use of the istick app on ios, you can copy and move files and music to and from the adapter to a iphone or ipad, the adapter also allows you play rmvb files.

Anyone try this?
http://www.amazon.com/SlimPort-Adap...456118978&sr=8-3&keywords=lg+v10+hdmi+adapter
I have seen the 5-in-1 that include USB-OTG, Slimport-Video-Out, and charging at the same time. However the reviews I have seen say that when connecting the HDMI to a Tv, the connection is very touch-and-go. Also there is a limitation with USB-OTG, and the phone can't be charged while "hosting" any usb devices. Not without modifying the kernel. I made a post here on this topic.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/help/usb-otg-slimport-questions-t3322542 Seems like this post here might be a better place for discussing such features.
Does anybody know if there's any reason why HDMI and usb OTG couldn't be used at the same time? Also, do you think wireless charging might work while using USB OTG?
I found an interesting article regarding a " DisplayLink " docking station. The basic idea is to output video through USB OTG, while using the same USB OTG port to connect USB devices. http://www.cnx-software.com/2015/08...se-easily-with-a-displaylink-docking-station/
This is a very interesting solution.
