[Q] Printer for Xoom? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know that this xoom has Bluetooth and wireless capability so would it be possible to purchase a printer that would allow me to print from my xoom?
Would I need to install drivers on my xoom?
Thanks

I have an hp wireless printer setup up on my home network. I installed the hp printer app from hp for my android devices, there is one in the playstore as well.
I can print with no issues using the app. I print pictures and all types of documents with no issues.....i can do this with my gnex and xoom.
Good luck.

There's also a MotoPrint app, but I have no knowledge about it sorry.

There is also Google Cloud Print
There is also Google Cloud Print, where you can print to any printer attached to (or networked to) a computer running a Chrome browser. You just install Cloud Print and share your printer (with yourself). The printer driver used is the one installed on the computer. A bit more complex that WiFi direct like the HP, but will work with any printer.

Touchpad vs Laptop ??

What would it take to use my Touchpad as I do my laptop? Right now it seems to be the Browser, at least for the most part. Here is a list we can work on, and/or discuss.
Printing (can't seem to print to my wireless Brother printer)
Browser (can't access some games on Facebook)
Internet Home Page (maybe some user selected content like news, sports, weather, entertainment, etc.)
Home server access (for backups and streaming other content)
There are probably some things here I can get help with, but does anyone else see the same limitations of a tablet?
Would Windows 8 solve any of these things?
Is the USB link to a PC/Laptop the only access to tablet content?
Splashtop is very cool, but a little clunky when in actual use, and it requires the pc/laptop to be on.
This is a question type thread, but also to just discuss related chat.

Printing on our tf300t ?

Hello everyone. I'm wondering are we able to print a doc file for instance from our devices with a usb printer ? cloud printing not an option, all i wanted to do is plug a usb2.0 printer to usb port of tf300t
Share printer on PC or use network printer on LAN and use PrinterShare. It's not cloud but local network solution. You won't get drivers to print directly from android.
I use eprint with a wireless printer. If not wireless, then the other option might be best.

solution for Remote access?

Hi,
At home, I have both PC and iMac. I want to be able to connect to these devices via my note 8.0.
I know solution called LogMeIn, but it is an expensive one.
Do you know other cheap solution for the same task?
Thanks,
Tomer
PS - don't mind to have two apps , one for MAC, one for my PC

2x Client: http://www.2x.com/rdp-client/
Free, fast, convenient, just Android app - no additional software needed on PC, just configure RDP. According to to their website it works with Mac, but I don't know the details.
Add any Wake On LAN app, and you can remotely start your computer before launching RDP.

I use Splashtop to connect to Windows 8. It basically turns my android tablet into a windows tablet temporarily. I think it is renamed to splashtop personal.

For the best performance use Splashtop. VNC/RDP/X Forwarding and some other solutions can offer decent latancy for simple stuff but Splashtop is the best I've ever seen.
Also while most solutions make it impossible to watch a video over the connection and "Animation heavy" apps a pain, back before XFinity had an app, I would use Splashtop from my tablet and watch the movie through my desktops browser.
It's worth whatever the initial cost is these days.

Drag I didn't see this yesterday. Splashtop Remote HD & regular were both free on Amazon yesterday.

Regarding splashtop & splashtop HD, although they're were both free, they're both older versions of splashtop personal (originally splashtop 2). they're not nearly as fast especially when switching from primary to secondary monitors. Althought... free is free.
jump desktop also allows rdp and vnc connections
the free version is limited to creating one connection only, however.

yup splashtop is great:
1) it's streamer is also portable. From what I've read on the forums, you can copy it's whole program folder onto a usb flashdrive and run it from there so you don't have to install anything onto another computer if you ever have to control it via a local network (perfect for those on the spot power point presentations, this is where the screen 1 and 2 switcher on splashtop personal really flat out beats the old splashtops).
2) The only grip is with splashtop's new and faster technology, both computer and android device now should log in at least once via the net for it to work. you can disable the internet connection after but they must log in once. It would have been perfect except for this modification. As I said earlier, for those on the spot power point presentations, even with the portable streamer, you don'e always have access to the internet. Wish it had manual connection mode like the old splashtop. The only draw back...but otherwise...the best of the best....:
teamviewer, nothing better than that, with teamviewer qs, u can even remote yr android from pc, with teamviewer free, u can remote yr pc from android

Use OpenVPN to connect to your home network and use Splashtop. I had to do this since LogMeIn keep crashing my MacBook.
Download OpenVPN virtual machine, run it on your machine that is in ask the time, download the app from Google Play and you're good to go.

Remote printing from Windows to Android

Hello everyone.
I have a little problem that I hope someone here knows the answer to it.
The setup is as follows:
- an android tablet
- a printer that is connected to the tablet via wifi and is using the tablet as a hotspot
- a Windows machine that the tablet connects to via remote
I connect with the tablet to Windows via remote and I am able to run and work with Windows apps.
I want to print to the printer that is connected to the tablet, from the remote session.
Do I have to browse the tablet and share the printer. If yes, how so?
Can I do this with Google Cloud Print, and if yes, how?
Any help is appreciated and thank you guys in advance

Which Printer ?

What printer do you use to print from your smartphone ?
I'm looking for a good printer that I can use to print from my Note 4 and Note 3 (and also from desktop computers, laptops and tablets).
After checking out many printers, my first choice would be the Epson WF (Wide Format) 7620. I want to be able to scan, print, copy and fax, and also do wide format (mostly for Family History charts).
My price range is $600 or less.
