So I was thinking today, would there be any way to re-assign the red trackpad light as the notification light? I know it wouldn't make any real difference, but I personally think using the trackpad would look pretty cool compared to the standard tiny green LED.
Red light from trackpad - just like in optical mouse, ONLY for identification
The trackpad is not using a LED but instead a diode. Seeing it glow only means that there's a hardware problem in your phone as the current flowing in your phone not normal. Diodes used as sensor aren't usually made to light up.

The front LED on my new Raphael doesn't seem to be working. It never lights up or blinks, not even when charging. Is this likely to be a hardware problem?

Have you read the manual?? Are you refering to the LED beside the earpiece??? IF so, it is NOT a LED but a light sensor. However, if you are referring to the LED's on the circular botton on the bottom of the unit, then i appologise, these should light up when charging.
Hi Guys
Does anyone know what the indicator light that is inside the recessed area for the front speaker for? I have never seen it light up, and have no idea what it's supposed to be used for.
Thanks!
the ambient light sensor
It's a light sensor.. this question allready covered here.
The display's backlight auto-adjusts (can be disabled tough) with the help of this light sensor
HAHA. I can't tell you how many times I looked at my phone trying to think of where the light sensor is. I heard that light described as an actually light, that blinks for certain occasions.
try searching next time
but...you are talking about the light sensor. the notification light is around the dpad
Since we all know the primary notification light indicator in the top-left corner of the Aria is less than adequate brightness-wise and visibility-wise I would like to propose a new alternative LED indicator: Use the capacitive menu buttons instead!
I was thinking if, at all possible, only one would need to be lit up - which I'd like to use the home button. I'm not sure if each one can be lit up seperately though.
What do you guys think?
Cool idea, but I have a feeling all of the button lights are linked. If you take the back housing off the phone and look at the glass from the edge, it looks like it's just one light...

Less than adequate in what way? With CM 6.1 mine flashes when I get an email, text, missed call or voice mail. Its RED while its charging and changes to GREEN when its full charged. Am I missing something?
I don't see how flashing the Home button would be any different than what we have now.

I should have been more specific, the brightness and visibility is what is less than adequate!
I have to actually hold the phone up to my face and directly look at it to see the light emitting any "light" - what's the point of that??? Mine as well is turned on and the fact that I don't even notice it is a shame really.
With other devices I've owned (blackberry comes to mind).. I could see the notification light clearly visible from afar.
If you're judging my idea because you think it's stupid, then please keep your comments out of here - it's development, not judging time.
Thank you.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes I would agree that compared to other phones I have had, the LED is not near as obvious, especially with a case on. Using the Home button may be more obvious, but you would lose the color aspect that the LED offers.
I've tried the following three apps:
LED Color Tester
LED Tester
Light Flow Lite - LED Control
No matter what I do with any of these apps, even using the Administrative access mode, compatability mode, screen off, etc, none will show any color aside from Green.
How are people getting different colors??
I think the only colors we have are orange and green. Orange being used for charging and notifications, and green being used to signify that the battery is full.

Ok, but how are people using orange for custom notifications via the above apps?
I can't even get orange to work, even though our phone clearly supports it.
Try 'LED Me Know'

Still no other colors.
Keyboard mode doesn't work either.
Tried with Compatability on or off.
Does it work for you with other colors?
I think that the only colors we can get are orange and green, on 'LED Me Know' I can get both colors and the capacitive buttons to work just fine.
Is it possible to have that notification LED different colors at all? Like I remember with the Nexus One, the trackball was RGB. Same with our notification LED, but just needs the proper tweaking? Or not even possible?

I don't think it's possible. It's something I really miss from my BlackBerry - the LED was completely customizable.

Well, we do know it has the ability to flash GREEN, ORANGE, and RED.
So if it isn't RGB, which would be silly considering it's already 2/3, hopefully someone will find a way for us to customize it. I would prefer the LED to blink rapidly or something so I can just quick glance at it, instead of waiting a few seconds(in which case I'll just press the power button to see for myself). Sadly nothing I've tried so far will take control of the notification LED.
it can only show orange, red and green...kinda disappointing, cuz i like to use different colors for certain notifications...but its not that big a deal
Maybe I'm just a little too picky or ocd but I noticed my charge status LED goes from a brightly lit red just before reaching 100%, to an extremely dim (barely visible) green when the battery has been fully charged. When I hit the home or power button to turn the screen on then back off, the green LED is visible and bright. Anyone else notice this?
[UPDATE] Never mind, I'm an idiot... I should've known this, the light sensor dictates the LED brightness level.
I don't know if samsung was just rushing to get these replacement devices out and had to speed through the assembly process but my device looks just that way. The overlay is noticeably off center to the left across the top where the sensor, camera and iris scanner are located. To the left of the home button there is a thin vertical line indentation as if there is a small dent on the shell of the device under the overlay.
Once again, could be I'm just overly critical, but for a device pushing the $900 retail mark I expect more. Venting complete...Still love my Note 7:good:
