I just followed the excellent guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114 to flash the new J1 leak using the no data wipe Odin method. I was coming from stock rooted and unlocked ICS G1 build that came pre installed on my phone. I haven't flashed any other roms on this phone. Everything went fine with the flash and installing the recovery rooting and unlocking. Everything seems to work on the rom except my T9 trace and predictive text is broken on the Samsung keyboard. The Swype keyboard works fine and I installed the leaked 4.2 keyboard which also works. I was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else or if there was any solution. I have tried wiping data in the keyboard app as well as clearing cache and dalvik cache in recovery, but no change. I would have posted this in the above development thread, but am currently unable to due to post limits.
It would have been moved. Never know post a thread like this in development. My advice is use a different keyboard such as swype or a free jelly bean one from the market. The Samsung one blows anyways

I mean I would have posted it in the relevant thread not as a new topic. Appreciate your input.
One thing I've noticed when using Swype with the J1 leak is thatautospacingdoesn'tseamtowork. itjustkeepsgoingwithoutanyspaces.
I'm using the leaked 4.2 keyboard and it works much better. I just wish the key buttons were larger like on the Swype keyboard. The Samsung keyboard is horrible. Very small keys.

Does your T9 trace work on the Samsung keyboard? My Swype is also not spacing appropriately.

No, the T9 trace on the Samsung Keyboard is broke as well. This, plus the Paste bug makes me think the J1 build will not be the final OTA.

You are correct. The original thread by open1your1eyes0 has confirmed that there will be at least one more build to come. There is also another poster in that thread confirming the Samsung T9 trace isn't working.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114
I was running synergy and had this problem with samsung keyboard. Started using the android 4.2 one and predictive text and spelling correction work with that keyboard.
After factory resetting, formatting system and installing clean rom 4.5 the samsung keyboard seems to be working. Not really sure why there are problems with the samsung keyboard, maybe it had something to do with the rom?

I just used the method in this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984436 to reflash J1 using the no data wipe version and now the T9 trace and predictive text is working again. The only difference is now I have SuperSU instead of SuperUser but everything seems to be working. The phone is still unlocked and after resetting the flash counter with TriangleAway after the other method, the flash counter didn't trip. I used ROM Manager to install CWM recovery instead of TWRP.

Have you tried to download it on a PC and then transfer to the device ?
FWIW, I was able to restore my Swype installation from 1.72 with Titanium Backup Pro with out issue. I'm not sure if it would be "safe" to post my backup for others to install though (may have Swype account information in it, not sure).

I'm having the same issue...the Swype Beta website says to remove any associated apk's and try again in a few hours.
I downloaded a version from the net (attached below); it installed fine (the official installer recognized and approved it, too) but it was scaled down by about 2/3. Still functional, but too small to really use. I'm going to keep looking for it while I wait to retry through the official installer.

The HTC trace function works okay, but not nearly as intuitive and smooth as Swype. The biggest feature I miss is Swype's ability to correct words anywhere in the text body, not just at the time of typing a word.
So I wandered over to the gs3 forum and found the 720p swype extracted from a gs3. Here's the apk.
no need to thank me, thank the gs3 guys
I believe 1.82/1.85 rooting breaks the swype installer somehow... i had it back when I was stock. I still think they need to adjust this keyboard to have taller keys since the screen has so much room but this will do.
Thanks, Idealz...that worked well for me. Nice to have Swype back, the HTC version just doesn't stack up.
I am also not able to make the fmradio app show up in the app drawer, worked fine on 1.73. Any ideas?
Try flashing Clean ROM SE 2.6. It shows up for me.

Sorry guys, had to remove the links to the Swype apks. Apks for Swype aren;t allowed to be posted on the forums. You have to get it through signing up with Swype.
I suggest you try the "Trace" feature built into the HTC keyboard, I find it works just as good, if not better than Swype. I use it all the time.
The issue isn't with any on the ROMs. The problem is with Swype itself. I'm still on 1.73 and I get the same error. I saw someone posted that the file is missing on the Swype server (based on review of his logcat file). It sucks that Swype isn't rushing to fix this. The HTC version nor SlideIt can compare to Swype.

scotsman, I understand the reasoning behind this, and well, those are the rules.
But I want to point out that it is currently impossible to download for a lot of people, and Swype itself seems more interested in working on a new version than on solving this issue. I.e., I want to get it from Swype, but it is simply impossible.
*edit*
try touchpal, free in Google Play.
Is it just me cos I don't see any apk here.
I just downloaded the Swype installer from Swype.com
I've seen a lot of people asking for this, and since I just stumbled on it last night, I thought this might be my chance to give back to this community that has helped me out so many times. It turns out such a version of MyScript Notes Mobile does exist, and my preliminary testing indicates that it'll likely work with any ROM you throw it at, including Koshu's CM ROM, which I'm currently using. I had the idea last night that since so many devs are intent on taking apps from one device and porting them to another, why not take one of the ports and try to run it on our version of CM and see if it worked? They'd have to remove the check that has been giving us so much trouble and resulting in the error message preventing us from running the app, right?
Sure enough, eventually I found a version that seems to work great...it was meant as a port for the Galaxy Note, but you install it on our TPT and it works just as you'd expect. You don't even have to copy anything to your /system folder or mess with permissions...just install the .apk the way you normally would. I've been testing the 1.1.24 version on Koshu's CM ROM with no issues so far.

So, 44 views in one day...has anyone else tried it? Did it work for you? I've been using it for 3 days now with no crashes, no force closes, nothing on Koshu's CM10 ROM, and I'm sure people would love to see other reports!
I gave it an install and a quick try. It seemed to work and actually recognized my crappy handwriting!

Worked great for me on CM10 w/ 1.1.24. Had to manually extract the apk & libs to the appropriate directories. Installing zip from CWM failed
It works for me on CM10 8.1. I just installed the apk and nothing else and it works fine. So times it's a little laggy but I'm glad to have thiis back on my TPT. Thank you of this .
That's what I was saying earlier...it worked for me installing the .apk from inside the ROM (not having to flash anything with CWM) and doing nothing else! Glad it's working for you guys! I had seen tons of people ask about this over the course of my time here messing with my TPT, but had never seen anyone post a solution. Good to know it's still helpful for a few out of the 192 ( !) that have viewed this thread.

I couldn't find any apk file there. All files were zip. In the forum page it had written you have to flash your mobile. I don't even know what that means. I previously have installed this with an apk but that app after install gave error that "this version of notes mobile is not compatible with my device". is there any device check removed version of this apk of this app which installs without flashing or rooting? I need it for galaxy tab 2 10.1...android jelly bean or ics official version

Okay when you hear the word "flash" on XDA or any other Android development community it usually means you have to have a custom recovery and root permission of the device. An .apk is the actually file that is known to be the main part of an App. Now as for the "device check removed version" I have no idea, you would have to look around more for something that doesn't have that message. The reason that keeps coming up is, this App was originally written for the Lenovo TPT and then was ported to the Samsung Galaxy Note series, both which have a touch-screen and stylus input. So for a device(s) that doesn't have that Android system may be looking for a couple lines of code and is not seeing them so it give an error message. I hope this helps.
Does anyone have this working on Koshu's 0.91? When I attempt to install the apk the install fails....

I've tried the NotesMobile-GTN7000-1.1.24..zip
1) Download
2) Unpack
3) Put it on a SD-Card
4) Use something like total commander
5) Make sure you can install unsafe software on your device
6) install the notesmobile_len-oem.apk you found in /NotesMobile-GTN7000-1.1.24/system/app
7) have fun
For me everything works fine on a TPT 32GB with Android 4.1.2. Export, Writing, handwriting ...

Hello XDA-ers,
Just want to share with you something I discovered - it appears that the multiwindows feature that samsung introduced to our phones with the JB leak also comes with a feature called MULTI-INSTANCE. What that means is that in multiwindow mode, you can launch the same app multiple times - well, two instances for stock multiwindows (maybe more than two for floating multiwindows in the case of NOTE10.1?). Not all apps can be launch multiple times though. Some apps can, some apps can't. For some reason, I could not make any browser I have installed to launch multiple times. Maybe there is something in their code to make them launch multiple instances. This is the reason I am sharing this now at this early stages so maybe some dev out there talented enough to hack the code can help. I am not very good with code. I am just a curious noob not afraid to explore and learn.
So this is early stages and maybe samsung is only in early development of this feature so it may or may not work on your phone, it may or may not work for apps you want. There is a bit of exploring to do to make them launch multi-instances (sometimes you think it is not working but one instance is just hiding behind the other and you need to learn how it works).
* Make a backup before installing so you can restore. Flash via CWM recovery. This is only for rooted deodex LSC ROMs for now. (Maybe odex will come soon). This MOD may or may not affect other mods that you have already installed. As always, flash at your own risk.

I would appreciate feedback and suggestions.

I guess this is correct because I/O hardware only one.
Video playback issue.
I'm not sure if you know this.
I'm using Dice Player to play video over network.
It seem video playback doesn't work well after loading this.
It just sound only video playback doesn't appear, but when I press power button the video appear on background.
However I notice it will work on dual view, but not normal view as single view.
I'm sure there will be other video playback issue.
It's really nice idea and useful function but look like don't work for me On Alliance 1.1

its functionality rules all stock roms, especially with xperiacles mods. However current versions are unstable and generally not advised. If I would you i would wait till official lands and is cooked by the ultimate makers.
Then I would recommend to flash safe kernel, (mind triangle) do a complete clean install (on safe kernel, wipe cache, dalvik, factory reset, format mounts (all except efs, take out external before as you could accidentally wipe it),
Then flash ultimate. As per ultimate instructions on first post of that thread. Hit thanks button for gratitude makers ultimate, lol, then follow steps mentioned in xperiacles mod thread (hope he makes it for the version rom)
Then or before open romtoolbox and uninstall all the bloatware (see thread safe to uninstall in software and apps section).
Have a break to prevent repetitive flash syndrome (kidding), then restore apps if backed up (no app data ever unless on same rom version).
then you should have best performance and lowest risk of stuff conflicting!
Enjoy!

Be aware you might also need to download the languge pack in settings. Go to settings>Language and input>Samsung Keyboard settings(little cog icon after samsung keyboard)>Input languages. Make sure the language you want has been downloaded and installed...
I also am having trouble getting this to work. I have no icon left of the space bar. I'm on 4.0.4 8013 model. Is this a Jellybean only feature?

No cuz I have jellybean (uk 8010) and I also dont have the pen icon altho I have the handwriting on in the keyboard settings.
Ok I figured it out. Press and hold the GEAR icon next to the left of the spacebar then you can choose the pen tool.
Yep, sorry should of mentioned that. In JB though you need to do what I said in my previous post on some stock roms.... Don't know why but it seems an oversight by Samsung to provide the feature but not have it active until you download the language pack and with no explanation on how to get it...

I'd like to let TiBu install it but I don't know what it will do. Will it overwrite one of the current keyboards? Will it add that keyboard to the system? Or will it fail?
It won't work. The fascinate keyboard is different resolution. If its a third party keyboard, you can redownload it and install that way.
