Most stable JellyBean AOSP ROM? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I've tried many roms out there and all of them have problems. (Well actually the only problems is it randomly reboots and I have some play store problems.)
So I need to know what's the most stable jellybean rom out atm. extra features aren't as important as stability and speed. Thanks!:good:

In my opinion, CM10. You get a new nightly every day with updated features/fixes. And h8rift did an amazing job on it.

Best advice I can give, try them all and which ever you like better, use that one.
Threads like this are not allowed due to conflict from devs and it would end up in a pissing match. Go read the rules, they might help you out.

His title is misleading. He is looking for the most stable Rom not the best one. That said, people have different results with roms your best bet is to try them out and see which runs best for you. In general, sense roms are more stable than jb

RE: Best ROM
True enough, they are all great! but for a noob who flashed all the roms the least buggiest so far is SKY ICS--- 4.2D-10 for me anyways.
Again there are different flavors to choose from and it also depends on what you use on your phone. Some bugs may show up days later.

All these guys are right cause there really is no right or wrong answer to your question. When it comes to custom roms its all about personal preference. What someone else really loves you may find out you don't like. So my advice is become a flashaholic like most of us here are and start flashing until you find that perfect custom rom that fits your needs and wants. Just remember to make a backup of your current rom before you start flashing anything that way you can always go back to what you have now. Oh and just so you will know design gears is about to release a new ics leak for the skyrocket soon according to his twitter account so you may want to wait and see what that is all about and the I'm sure plenty of custom roms will be based off of it soon as well... happy flashing...

It would probably be better to be more specific. A better question would be "which are roms are the most stable" or "which roms are the fastest" or maybe "Which rom has the most features?"
I personally am also trying to decide which rom to go with. I have a friend who owns a Skyrocket and he wants me to root the phone then flash a custom rom, so I'm looking into this. I think I'll probably flash Nexus Mod just because it looks like AOSP. Like many others, it has carrier IQ disabled and has been debloated.

+1 to sky ics for stability (iv flashed the aosp apps patch) it was giving me fc's on other roms but none on this one
nexusmod ics was good but the rom seems to start facing issues after a week of use (might be user error but others were also experiencing this) and also the rom has no further development as MOD has been bricked and has also moved to cm9.
AOKP - great rom that has just surfaced with some solid devs at work still has a few minor issues but this one will become a gem
cm9 - same as above, great dev support but it still has a few minor kinks to be worked out
The above post is right especially about cm and aokp
CM9 Skyrocket
The newish Slim ICS ROM is pretty good too. Gives you some AOSP apps and seems pretty stable and super snappy for me so far. But as others have said, just look at some of the ones with higher traffic and more recent posts and see what you like. Embryo is a nice one i you want a more stock exoerience. Dev is super responsive too. With the new leak and impending (hopefully) official release, they'll all be rebased anyway. TiBu Pro and nandroid are your friends.

Getting a One X (ROM suggestions)

I'm getting a One X for my girlfriend either tonight or tomorrow. She's very technically incapable, she just wanted something better than that Lumia 900 she's had for a while and I found this One X on the cheap lol. Basically I'm gonna root, unlock, and flash a ROM on day 1 cause I've had HTC devices before and the battery and stock performance is usually....meh, to put it nicely. So I'd rather avoid that headache and just cut the problem straight at the beginning.
I'm looking through the development section and I've narrowed it down to 3. Maximus, Android Revolution, and ORDroid. Now the key things I'm looking for here are:
1) Ease of use
2) Stability
3) Battery life
4) Preferably OTA updates cause it's so easy even a girlfriend can do it.
5) Preferably no compromises on camera, wifi, bt, or anything.
I know it seems like I'm asking a lot, but really I just want to know what's my best option here and since I don't have a One X myself to test these ROMs out there's nobody better to ask than you guys. Thanks a lot for the feedback!

I would recommend from the bottom of my heart Cleanrom 5.1 (no theming) together with elementalx 3.0 kernel (using stock values to avoid issues)..

Stick to ROMs in the AT&T One X specific section of the forum, and you'll be safe: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
Don't flash any ROMs from the forum that is labelled simply "HTC One X" as that versions has completely different hardware internally, and any ROMs from their will either not work, and/or will brick your phone.
There is no best ROM. Everyone has different preferences and expectations. To recommend one over another is an insult to our devs that work so hard to give us free software, as saying one is not 'the best' is implying it somehow inferior, when it is not.
I know about the International One X, like I said earlier that was my fault for looking through the wrong forum. As far as asking for the best ROM I was asking what's the best one for my needs that I listed. I'm not trying to make somebody's work seem like it's "less" than someone else's but obviously one ROM is gonna fit me better than another. And if I tell everybody what I'm looking for and ask for help on which would suit my needs then that shouldn't be misconstrued as insulting other developers.

All due respect, those are the same rationalizations that are often given when someone starts a "best ROM" thread.
You're parameters aren't anything special. Its not like people are walking around requesting ROMs that get bad battery, or are hard to use.
Its not that hard to look through the features of the ROMs, see which ones fit your need, and try out a couple.
"Best ROM" threads are simply not allowed here (whatever you think your rationale may be), and mods will close this thread soon.
You'd be surprised how impossible it is to actually try out a ROM before you get the phone. And I wasn't trying to flame a best ROM thread, if you just read through the posts you'd realize I was looking for a stock ROM that wouldn't be overwhelming for someone completely unfamiliar with this sort of stuff. I said options and tweaks weren't important and stability definitely was. Sounds a little less generic than you're making it out to be.
Could I have looked through the development section myself? Absolutely. Was it lazy and more convenient for me to do this? Of course it was. Is it undermining the entire concept of a Q&A section when you say which questions can and can't be asked? A little. Especially when the whole point of this was that I don't have the phone myself so I HAVE to ask people what their opinions are.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Obviously, regardless of whether you start a thread asking about ROMs, or research them yourself, its all purely academic until you actually get the device and start flashing ROMs. If you want to do some preparation before you receive your phone, your time is probably better spent reading about how to unlock the bootloader and root the phone, as the steps are not completely obvious or straightforward.
I'm not trying to beat on you, seriously. But if every person new to this phone made a thread asking what ROM is best "for him" arguing that their needs were somehow unique and special (and therefore deserved their own thread), the Q&A forum would quickly be rendered useless by a flood of hundreds of such threads.

Whether we like it or not, that's the decision that the forum operators made, and the mods have asked us to abide by.

Need ROM Suggestion

Hey guys, I'll try to make this brief. I'm not very good with Android, so I apologize in advance for my ignorance.
A few months ago, I accidentally let my phone update to 2.2, so I had to wait a while to for a bootloader/root method. A bootloader unlock came first, so I had to do that, but I never ended up installing a custom ROM.
Now, I'm really feeling I need one, but I have no idea where to start. There are just so many. I would like something as close to vanilla android as possible, and I don't necessarily want to be on the bleeding edge.
To be honest, I don't know as much about Android as I would like to, and I guess I want something that "just works."
Can anyone help me out here?
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
Have a look in the Original Android Development section, that's where you'll find the "vanilla" or AOSP stuff. Asking which ROM is best is against the rules here so I'm not going to suggest anything, other than saying they're pretty much all stable and suitable as a daily driver. It comes down to what you personally like, flash a few and see what works best for you.
Sent from my One XL using XDA Premium
There's even a few stock ones with all the att crap removed
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
Figure out what features you want or don't want, then just look through the ROM threads to see which ones look good to you. Pick a couple, flash them and try them out.
Its not clear how much you know or don't now about how Android works, and the various features. If you really don't understand the terminology used in the ROM threads, just start reading up by searching on XDA or Google, and figure them out.
If you don't know what the features are, and what they mean, then you don't need a custom ROM. Also, nobody can choose a ROM for you, as everybody has different preferences and uses their phones differently. That's why its best to do some research, so you can make an educated choice on your own.
There are some good "close to stock" ROMS out there, I use one myself. Just remember that if you use an AOSP ROM you *may* also have to downgrade some firmware.
Check very closely with each ROM you try and follow the instructions closely. A bad ROM install is unlikely to brick you but doing it right can avoid a lot of headaches.

No such thing as "standard" because everybody likes different things. Its like asking if there is a "standard" favorite color.
There are certainly "popular" ROMs. And determining which those are, is pretty easy without making a thread like this. And just because a ROM is popular, does not mean it will be the best choice for you. Again, everybody uses their phone differently and has different preferences. I've had instances in the past, where a lesser know ROM worked much better for me than what "everyone else" seemed to be using.
Sifting through the ROMs is not as daunting as it might appear. Especially if you use my index. You said you wanted vanilla Android, so that excludes the Sense ROMs. Decide whether you want Android 4.1 or 4.2. Exclude the versions of ROMs that have been superceded, or haven't been updated or supported for a while (older ROMs are not necessarily bad, but probably should not be your first choice if you are just getting started flashing ROMs). The number drops to the point where its not that hard to read the threads and see what you like, and pick out a couple to try.
The best way to find a good ROM is process of elimination like red point said. Sense vs aosp. ICS vs jb (4.1 vs. 4.2). And then of course the features. If there was the best ROM, everyone's signature would probably be you the same. But this is not the case.
I look for features (including bugs), screenshots, and then comments. If it looks good test it out for a day or two. If I like it l, keep it. If not, keep going.

Sir that is not the case. Some people may not like the way Google made little changes int 4.1.1. For example, if you are familiar with mIRC, some people sitll use 6.30, even though there is a 7.31. I know that is a bad example since it doesn't apply here, but I hope you get my analogy.

And that could be user settings. I bet if people leave settings at default or stock, no one will have issues. Or maybe it is certain apps that make small (non-rooted) changes to their phones. You never know the whole story, because a lot of people don't tell.

These are the same kind of questions as the "Whats your favorite case?" or... "Whos your favorite carrier?"... those don't get closed so I don't see why these have to be closed? Some people don't have time to flash multiple ROM's, and to be honest you can't really decide if it's right for you in one day... These kind of threads help narrow down the right ROM for you, chances are if other people like it, you will too.... just look at how many people use CyanogenMod.
But anyways back on topic, I would suggest using Cyanogenmod. Overall it is the fastest ROM I have found. Most people like fast, so if that's your thing go with Cyanogenmod. They are currently working on 4.3 Android, they have a version out already but SMS/MSM isn't working so I suggest to wait it out until they fix the bugs.
Viper ROM is great for customizations, however it won't be as fast as Cyanogenmod, at least in my experience it won't..
That's all I've got, I've narrowed it down to 2 ROM's for you. However if you feel daring and want to try out some more ROM's I suggest you look at the post counts of the ROM's thread and usually if they have more people posting in it it usually means it's a better ROM and has an active developer fixing all the bugs and what not.
Thanks and enjoy!
Okay, let's do some thinking here.
Hypothetically, if ALMOST everyone were to suggest the same ROM, what benefit would that bring for the other devs working on the ROM they're providing? What would happen if we all said leave your phone stock? Would you? It works, it's reliable, there are no bugs, and no problems for you to complain about.
So let's all try to play along with that idea for just a bit.
Leave your phone stock. Unrooted. Why? No problems or bugs for anyone because it's stable. :good:

It means their likings aren't the same as the majority of other people, or they need to work harder to make their ROM better.

Why would anyone here say leave your phone stock? That just doesn't make sense.

It's considered to be very disrespectful to devs to say one ROM is better than another. And really, no ROM is better than another ROM. ROMs suit different people for different reasons, therefore nobody can definitively say ROM a is better than ROM b. Just flash a few and find out for yourself, it's REALLY simple.

Those don't get closed because its completely different. Products like cases/phones and carrier services are paid for. So I can easily see why these are allowed. Voice your opinion on what you paid for, and furthermore, att doesn't care what we say here. They get their money, they aren't discouraged if I say I hate their service.
Roms are different. A developer doesn't sit down and say "let me earn a pay check by building a new ROM". In fact, they do it in spare time, after their real job/friends and family. To say someone's volunteer work is bad and that you don't like it, and that a certain ROM is better is preposterous. Saying things like "well A is good for X, but I like to do Y, so I chose B" is a perfectly logical statement. Everything regarding a ROM is opinion based. They are all rock solid and do different things. What you choose depends on what you need the ROM to do for you.
To say a ROM is the best (is what these threads turn into) is plain stupid. Everyone has their own opinion, and should share it within reason.
So these Devs that do this in their free time certainly don't want to hear why a ROM is better than theirs, especially since nobody has an obligation to do this for us.
That's why these threads get closed.

To be fair it's in the rules which I'm sure you read before posting right? And since your question doesn't take the dev's feelings into account when they do all this work for free, it could be said that your question makes you a ****ing ****
I have a personal preference for AOSP myself.

Actually.. I asked what wad your favorite Rom. I didn't ask what's your least favorite Rom. Therefore if a dev sees that his Rom is listed as somones favorite he would be happy not sad.
