HI all,
does anyone know a way of removing the operator name from all screens (home, lock etc) as i don't like it being there and think it would look neater without it.
Thanks in advance
J
bump. anyone?
I think you're going to need a custom rom to get rid of it.
De brand or install custom rom u need root access tho

hi guys, new on this section of the forum n being a little lazy i know... but thought id say hi n ask a couple of quick questions...
my personal phone is the Dopod 838pro(Tytn) and have added n enhanced that to suit my needs....
but ive just been given a Orange E650 for work.... now I'm not overly impressed with it, but given that I've got to use it i want to enhance it slightly...
so firstly I want to get rid of the orange rom and put HTC (or another) better rom on it...
so before i start I also need to make sure i can restore it back to orange just in case....
I am assuming this is possible but would like someone to confirm it... and also any watch points i need to look out for ??
Anyone got any recomendations for roms ?
any other software thats nice ?
fwiw I work in networking and have subnet calc, wifofum, tomtom n some other little apps on my dopod.... n would be looking for something along those lines...
cheers guys n gals
1. unlock your phone (if i`m not mistaking you have to buy a application/code from Orange) < search the forums for more info
2. backup your ROM < again, search the forums for more info
3. fla**** with ARA ROM or even better with Dr. Gonzo`s ROM (ARA customized) < one more time, search the forums for more info
Hi guys, I am new to this forum, also I am new on Android phones since I used to be an iGuy..
A week ago I bought a brand new HTC Evo 4g, but I didnt want to connect it on sprint so I pay 60 bucks to get it flashed, so I can Use it with boostmobile.
The flash was-is great, the phone is working perfect on Boostmobile.
So in what I need help is in that I want to install a new theme, a have been reading and to install a new theme the phone has to be root or something like that.
My question is if I install a new theme do I loose my flash?
Please guys I need help.
I dont have an evo, but rooting just allows you to access more things in your phone, and break through the security that the companies put on it. It allows you to install themes, different roms, etc.
But if I root my phone do I loose my Flash? because I dont want to pay 60 more bucks to get my phone unlock
Not sure, but I doubt rooting would revoke your unlock.
Thanks man
Before do anything I am going to wait for more opinions

no. my evo is on boost and when i first got it i struggled with that question as well but decided to gamble and it paid off because now i have an evo on boost fully rooted with nand unlocked running fresh evo 3.5.0.1 themed with riptide9s colornclear and slayers mods. i just did all of this in the last couple days. this site is awsome you just gotta take your time and look and be willing to take a chance or two and work through the issues. if you need some advice ill do what i can but im a noob too so dont expect too much lol. btw does your picture mail work?
Once your phone is registered on boost it will stay as long as you pay the bill
even if i do a factory reset?

New theme? Just go ahead and slap a new launcher on your phone to begin with. ADW and launcher seem to be the greatest out there although others are catching on. These are the simplest form of themeing you could ADW being easier as of now. Detailed stuff like font change and notification bars can be done via rooting or custom roms. Font changes are really easy via an app called type fresh and if rooting for your phone is a one click option I think that would be sweet. Either ways getting a custom cynogen 7 rom for yourself would be best!

yes, a factory reset will just reset the data and settings on your phone back to the way they were when you first turned it on. it will still be connected to the same mobile network with the same phone number
also for future reference this post should probably have gone into the HTC Evo section
First I'd like to say I don't think this is the right place for my question but I cant post where I think it should go so hopefully somebody here can help me.
I want to put custom rom onto my nokia lumia 710 but dont know which would be the best on to use I've seen three so far in my looking around the site the RainbowMod, metro^7 rom, Lumiatrix 4.2 ROM. I like the look of the RainbowMod from the video on youtube that I'm not aloud to link, but I want to know from somebody that has experience with custom roms to give me some advice on which one to go for. I haven't unlocked my phone yet plan on doing this to night or tomorrow when ever I get some time to sit and do it without been called away in the middle of doing it.
Also from the look of the video I linked it looks like you can install apps from different marketplaces is this right and if it is can this be done with all custom roms???
Any other advice you can give me or links to the best tuts on each step so I don't follow a sub par tut by not knowing the best place to look for one.
Thanks in advance
Pacina
Can nobody here give me any advice I was told this was the best site for this type of thing:laugh: I'm guessing not
So basically even the old HD2 has WM7 Roms and I tried all of them.
You are right with a custom ROM you can download everywhere else too, some Roms are unlocked already and your windows nokia 710 will be just great.
First of all a backup off your stuff will be good because you will lose everything on your phone then.
And I think you will need the activation key for your phone again after that.

Hi guys,
I have searched and searched and can't find a straightforward way to do this? Or is it simply follow the whole debranding, flashing a custom ROM thing et cetera the only way?
I don't really want to do this and would just like a simple way to change the icons on the HTC Sensation, mine is locked to the Orange UK network and for instance the internet app is thier own awful nasty icon, I simply want the nice HTC one instead.
My Desire was on locked to the same network before this and it had the usual crap and branding but the icons were not, this time they've changed them to thier own too and they aree awful!
Not to much to ask or too difficult I would've thought?
All help appreciated!

Hi,
Have you looked in the market?
There are all sorts of apps to change icons...
Your options are:
Debrand the device and flash a stock ROM
Use a different launcher (with an icon pack)
Use a different browser (i suggest Chrome).

This is factory mode. To disable it, you'll need to use a file browser and go to /efs/factory app/factory mode and replace "off" with "on" then reboot for it to take effect. I think you'll need to be rooted to change this.
