Hey VU beta 2.33.0 and RCMix3D 2.5 users
I looked at Madmack and Brightidea patching tool for Arabic language (Shaping) and I tried it on VU Beta and it works well.
Mind you it is only meant for shaping letters in browser/mail/widgets/sms.
I don't know whether it will work well with changing menus and UI language.
I will try my best to keep it updated with every new release.
I take no credit in making this patch all efforts go to the brilliant coders Madmack and Brightidea. So thanks go to them
Cheers

I think the partfield Arabic keyboard is included by default in the 2.3.4 roms. All you need to do is to long press on the text field and then select the input method.
For RCMix it is not, Already tested

I don't have rcmix Rom installed. I am more than happy adding the files. But someone needs to test it. (sorry I use vu).
Added Parfield keyboard zip
Added the keyboard in a separate patch as I guess some would rather install another third party arabic/persian keyboard.
To my limited knowledge it should work. Test and report please as I have it pre-installed in VU (it would help if you attach your logcat file along with your post).

Both are good IMHO. But I always had vu. So I am sticking with it but from the Arabic pov, vu is better as they have Arabic localization and keyboard already with their Rom.

I want to port language fonts from one ROM to other... Any idea how to do it?
the actual story is that i flashed Leedroid ROM and it had 'Urdu' language fonts... I want those to use in other Roms which don't have Urdu fonts... Almost all roms lack this font...:-/
Anyone knows which files are concerned with Urdu fonts in Leedroid ROM that I can port to or copy to other roms that don't have it?

Hi,
Fonts can be found in phone/system/fonts.
It's just a thought, but you could copy the fonts from one ROM to another.
Should i copy all files from one ROM to other ...? No issues i hope....?
If i make a flashable zip from the fonts file that would contain two lib files... Do i need to insert wipe cache and delvik cache script with it or just format cache only or none?

Hi,
When I looked in the fonts folder, there were not that many fonts.
Maybe, you can see which one is the one you want, and save it.
Having said that, they are all tff. files , so saving them all and copying them over should not do any harm.
Nandroid backup just to be sure.

Long time I searched to find a Solution to Writing and Reading Urdu Messages for HTC Sensation.. HTC mobiles dont include Urdu although Samsung does..
I almost made it possible with Thanks from baadnewz Arabic patch. Thus this Patch includes Arabic Fonts too.
I know most of you will say we can Write URDU but when u r actually writing it, its infact Arabic form.. Many letters dont work correctly..
(Tested on Sense 3.5; Not yet on 3.0.. If Someone with 3.0 can test and let me know if it works for him)
Here is a Simple Guide on how to do it:
A) Download URDU_Patch_HTC_Pyramid.zip and flash via Recovery and Reboot. (First Boot may take Long)
B) Download MultiLing from Market
C) Then Download Urdu Plugin Pakistani
D) Open MultiLing . Follow Steps in Main screen
1. Enable Multiling > Check Mark Multiling
4. Enable Languages > Leave Tick on Only English and Urdu. remove ticks from All others
When writing message, Long press Editing Area to Select Input method. Choose MultiLing. Swipe Spacebar in Keyboard to change Language..
Now you can Type Urdu in Correct fonts...
Will Hopefully Port for Other HTC Devices...
Hit THANKS if it Helped...
Screen Shots BEFORE and AFTER the Patch
(Mods Please Move to correct Section. Dont know where it should Belong...)

I got what u mean now.. Maybe RCMIX has include URDU Fonts by default otherwise you won't see exactly how URDU is written.. it will be in Arabic Form..
Below is a ScreenShot of InsertCoin WITH RTL Arabic Patch Installed and Asian Swype Keyboard.. I think ASAIN Swype keyboard is not meant for qHD Screen of Sensation ... We want bigger one.. In screenshot u can see "Kaf" is typed as "Gaf" and fonts are also not very good in joining... its more Arabic Like
"Yar Pakistan main tamatar kay kya rate hain"
Now See Below after you install my URDU Patch in OP, the Fonts make Sense and is more URDU like.. and the "Kaf" is correctly written..
Now Check Below, the MultiLing Keyboard which I like for its size and comfortability... It supports Urdu Dictionary too...
Hope that clears some part of it...

It means with your patch it makes no difference between the accuracy of Swype with rcmix, and using multiling with insertcoin, but in my opinion the conclusion is for great urdu writing experience we need insertcoin+your patch+arabic swype...i hope you'll agree wiyh me, in your rom with multiling, the wordd "hay" and "bari yay" are seperated and same happening with swype in rcmix, but you can see the difference on your screenshot where youare using your patch + swype, it'll look more accurate...hope i have clearify.you properly

Dost, can u share the files u took from Samsung? i tried few fonts still some characters dont seem to join..
I took fonts from here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1086632
And merged with RTL Arabic patch from here
www.mediafire.com/?le00tcvd7mabaob
And Simply copied all fonts from Samsung patch and overwrite the one in Arabic patch...
Main font file was DroidSansArabic.ttf...
I suggest you overwrite this font file only if you already have RTL and Arabic patch installed in your ROM...
If that doesn't help then download my patch and delete the phone Model ID detection line from updater script and flash in your mobile with same GB version...

That's some nice info... But problem is not getting Arabic patch... It's actually getting Urdu fonts to work on it ..
Arabic is not Urdu although it matches 80% characters with Urdu... The remaining 20% are spelled wrong as it's missing Urdu fonts...
My patch just fixes those fonts making it compatible for both Urdu and Arabic at the same time...

Hi
I'm tired of waiting for MIUI & CM7 and i freaking love Valhalla Final.
I want to make it completely localized.
I will work on Hebrew localization but i will share my knowledge with others who wish to translate it to other languages.
Can someone guide me how i can translate the system menus so it will all be localized?

OK, got some progress.
After some googling i understood i need to decompile APK and did what the XDA APPS and MODS section - "How to decompile an APK" thread suggested.
First, I took an already translated ROM I have of i9000 (to save the translation)
so I defined the framework-res and twframework-res of that ROM and decompiled the
framework-res, so I now have framework-res project with some relevant XMLs I can take for SGH-T959V.
My plan is to take all relevant decompiled APK XMLs from the i9000 ROM
save them all aside and merge them with SGH-T959V XMLs once i decompile the T959V ROM APKs...
Question is - what APKs need to be translated in the system ?
Besides framework-res i see Bluetooth, wifi, and tons of unclear APKs.
Does anyone here know or i'll decompile all and save a side.
Also I assume some i9000 already translated system apps probably work on T959V... (probably MyFiles will not work, but Calendar ? Memo?...)

Hi Alon
As i explained in the last post, i'll try to base the translation on already done work.
I just decompiled the framework-res of the latest Hebrew pilotX 6 ROM of SGS i-9000.
If you have spare time, you can look into "how to decompile an APK" in the apps and MODs section of this forum and download that PilotX 6 ROM so we can have the same source. After decompiling all the system apps there, we will put them in a shared server and start decompiling the Valahalla Final to be able to work on the compatible XMLs...
Are you in ? Others ? PM me.
Why not just port that i9k ROM, it'd be a ton less work...?

Hi Tehgyb
Some reasons.
On my opinion, Valhalla Final is as close to perfection as GB will be on this phone.
I already successfully applied RTL and Hebrew support on it.
And I don't want to deal with ROM porting, file system and kernels, this should be simpler if i just take the relevant language xmls (from existing ROMs) and recompile without any core messing.
Don't you think?

I know more or less exactly how to do it. Give a week or two. Tell me what language that you want by giving me a link to any touchwiz GB translated ROM. EG, give me a link to an i9000 GB translated rom.

Also, I will only be adding support to my AOSP Style. By the way, this is based on valhalla.

Hi Airfluip
That's great! Tell you the truth I haven't tried your ROM, I was so happy with Val...
Do you have all Valhalla's features ? Toogles, lockscreens etc. ? What did you change ?
I love Valhalla ROMs since they're always working good with framework-res Hebrew RTL tweak.
If you add Hebrew translation to your ROM that will be gr8 and I will surely test it.
I will appreciate if you also guide us what APKs and what to do, out of interest, wanting to learn and end a project we already started.

As the title speaks, here is a guide on porting roms.
For porting roms from mini,
1.download the rom (obviously)
2.Extract the rom through winrar
3.Go to system folder
4.Go to system/lib/modules. Delete everything there and replace with the ones for our device.
5.Then go to system/lib/hw. delete everything there and replace with yours.
( The "/hw" directory as you can see contains the files which control the sensors and lights such as GPS and the accelerometer. )
6. Then for the soft keys and hard keys to work, go to system/usr/keychars and system/usr/keylayout and replace with yours
7. Now go to system/etc. Then delete these items and replace with the ones meant for our device.
- vold.fstab
- /wifi
- /ppp
If u are porting cm7 from mini, use the boot.img of any cm7 rom here. eg. Vishwanath patil's cm7 boot.img .
For ace,
Do the above things , then resize framework-res.apk, systemui.apk and other apk's like dialertabactivity.apk, phone.apk!
For other devices, (other manufacturers)
(Eg. Cm7)
Extract the cm7 meant for our rom. Then delete app and framework folder. Then go to the rom u wanna port. Copy framework and app folder. And paste it in the cm7 made for our device.
For porting kernels,
unpack the boot.img of the rom u wanna port. Open init.rc and copy the things after bootpath.
repack ur ramdisk!
For camera to work on the ported roms, replace these wid urs,
libarccamera.so
libcamera.so
libcameraservice.so
libcamera_client.so
libCaMotion.so
liboemcamera.so
libseccamera.so
libseccameraadaptor.so
Note: Camera will work, but replace the camera.apk from our device to the ported one for 5 megapixels!
And plz dont spam the development section with ports
Use it for your personal use!
Enjoy Porting!
