Hello, I heard that sense 4.0 is GREAT but the stock rom isn't so awesome (its slow and etc).
1) It seems that most of the custom ROMS have Sense 4.0 installed also right? (and the sometimes useful HTC apps which aren't bloatware)
2) Where do we get the stock rom so we can flash back to factory settings? I had a samsung vibrant before and I had to use something called ODIN....
3) I hear the Sense rom that is stock installed has software camera tweaks that makes photos better. Do the custom roms USE it and TWEAK it to make it better or do they leave it out altogether(so the camera photo quality is worse)?
Thanks so much! Just got the phone today! (off contract)

Hello,
i would say that the stock rom isn't really slow... but a custom Rom will unleash your possibilities and give you some really ueseful extras!
1. Yes you are right. Thats because the original Android 4.0 from google is the only alternative (AOSP) wich is portet to other Phones by cynagenmod. But here is the Problem, HTC has not released all off there code. So it is not so easy to get the cynagenmod working stable on the HTC One s. And the most other ROMS like MIUI and so on are based on the cynagenmod. So you will find more ROMs without Sense until the port of the cynagenmod is complete.
2. To get back to the stock Rom you should male a Full clockworkmod Backup before you will flash a custom Rom. So you can easily get back to stock.
3. Thats because off the code HTC didn't puplish. So not every function from the cam is avaliable in the ROMS wich didn't contains the original HTC framework. So ROMs with the AOSP Camera have less functions than the HTC Stock Camera app. But the most Custom Roms uses the HTC camera app. So you can have a custom Rom with all of the Camera options. The Quality of the pictures does not depent to the HTC camera app. The would be some Software filters and so on, but other camera apps have those Filters too. Which one is the Better? Take a DSLR... is my point of view.
TrickDroid and Leedroid perhaps uses the Original Stock Camera app.
Hello,
I am looking for a stable ICS rom with stable HQ camera and music player without sense. Thank you for your time.
I can recommend OpenSensation and AOKP. I dont know about the official CM9 nightly, but im sure that is quite stable aswell.

Thanks fsknghst. I already have CM9 nightly installed, do I need to install anything else BEFORE I flash OpenSensation or AOKP? like a different kernel or firmware?
HQ Camera only works with Sense 3.6 based rom...
Try to take a look on Miui, Virtuous Inquisition, HyperSensation, or smartdroid roms... You should find what you're looking for there.
If you go with OpenSensation or CM9, sure, you wont have Sense, but you'll get stock ICS camera and it ain't that good.
nope. Just do a format all partitions (except sd-card).
Basically both the official nightly and AOKP comes from the work done on OpenSensation, and you will find OS very similar to the offical release.
But I might have misunderstood your original question, are you looking for a HQ camera mod?
Im running AOKP with latest bricked kernel - And max for stillshots is 3264x2448 (8mp) and video 1080p

I'm looking for a good quality camera that uses the full capabilities of the sensation hardware. So I think AOKP would work if it records at 1080p.
How can I check if I have the latest bricked kernel?
I'm having trouble finding a link to download AOKP, could you point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

I dont think it is any different than what you get with CM9 Nightly, and OpenSensation. You could go though the specific changelogs, but i dont think youll hit any jackpot.

I dont think that the kernel makes any difference, but you can get the latest bricked kernel at http://bricked.de - remember to choose aosp kernel.
BUMP.. HQ camera mod only works with sense 3.6/4.0 cameras ... aosp/aokp/cm9 cameras have a noticeably lesser quality
I would recommend you to use your favorite sense 3.6 rom that is based on the 3.32 firmware and flash the aosp theme which can practically get rid of sense or use virtuous rom which basically is aosp on sense base and with sense camera.

Check out this rom HyperNonSense: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1581619
It has HQ camera v1.5 installed, along with sense 3.6 camera. It has a sense 3.6 base but the rest is aosp. If you're looking for a good music player, get Apollo in the play store. You'll also need to install the add-ons pack if you want a few apps he removed. The battery life is sick on this thing.
Hello, I recently flahed VIperS 1.3.5 ROM and I like it,except the camera, is there any way to get stock Sense 4.0 camera there?Thanks..BTW ViperS uses sense 4.1 or 4.5 camera.
You can look in sensation themes and apps I know there are some cameras to choose from in there. Just make sure it's compatible with sense and ics and it will be fine to flash. Take a look in there and I know you will find what you need. When I was running viper I also flashed over a different camera. It worked perfectly. Best wishes and hope this helps.

I used to use ARHD for my ICS ROM and loved the NODO-GT HQ Camera Mod for ICS that came with it.
As you all know, this mod sadly doesn't work with JB ROMs
Has anyone come across a camera mod for JB that is as good?
I am using Bruce's Kang CM10 4.1.2 ROM at the moment, and whilst it's far superior to ICS, the camera is pretty poor.
Thanks in advance
hi,
have you seen this?
