[Q] WiFi flaky with Sky-Jelly-Bean ROM from seanzscreams - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I am posting it for first time but have tried many ROMs since GB ROMs on my skyrocket. I am not yet allowed to post this question on dev's ROM page. Recently I flashed Sky-Jelly-Bean ROM from Sean T11 beta. While the WiFi worked fine before flashing the 11.2 update, it became flaky after I flashed the update. Every 10 minutes or so it would switch to cell network and back to WiFi. This seriously impacts any downloads or streaming. Same happened with T10 base as well. I didn't notice it on T7.1 though.
I noticed this issue at home and at work. I had full WiFi signal when I had it. But still it switches to cell network about every 10 mins.
I did wipe cache and dalvik 5X before flashing the update. Fixed permissions too. Using TWRP open recovery for flashing the ROMs. Is anyone else noticing the same issue? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Sean for another wonderful ROM. I have been flashing all your ROMs and updates since GB ROMs on my skyrocket. None of them failed to impress me.

wait continues...
I have to wait for 9 more posts to start posting the questions directly in dev's ROM pages.

It's a beta. He stated if you want a flawless Rom go back to 7.1

Yeah, I took the risk with the beta. But I had the same issues with T10 as well. I wanted to know if anyone is facing similar issues or is it only me. Are you on T11? Do you see any similar issues?

I have no issues with wifi with T11.2

I don't have WiFi issues using T11.3

No I don't use that Rom, sorry man.

I went and fixed permissions for few times and now the frequency of the problem has reduced, but not completely. I guess I have to live with that for now. Hoping future updates or ROMs from sean might fix it.
Thanks all for responding.

Dose anyone know where I can get a different boot animation for the sky jelly bean? To like the nexus one or the original jelly bean animation?

Try a different radio or reflash the current one.

I had that issue on UCLF6 and tried UCLI3. But both had the same issue.
As I mentioned before, it got much better after fixing permissions for few times. I can live with it until 4.2 updates come.

You might want to post this directly under Sean's SkyJelly bean thread if you are using his ROMs.
Btw, someone in that thread mentioned that the ROM stopped working after flashing a new boot animation. You might want to search around a bit before playing with flashing boot animations.

Clear Droid Q&A

As some of you have come from the captivate know what I did there with Rom Q&A threads. I am doing the same here. In an effort to clean up the site. All Rom related question shall from now on be posted in the proper Q&A or will be deleted on sight.
So was it strange that I was never told this thread even existed and had no idea until just now? For anyone still having problems, a few troubleshooting techniques:
-When installing, are you sure you cleared cache and dalvik? If coming from a major release to a major release, did you do a full wipe instead?
-Are you using the proper radio, as posted in the first post of the thread?
-Are you using any task managers or antivirus apps?
i just flashed 1.2.11 to my phone which i decided to finally root after about 4 months, and i love it. I installed barnacle due to the stock hotspot debacle and when i go to use it it tells me that NAT is not connected. now here at work, where i am testing it, i dont have great connection but i can get 3g to work here. what does it mean when NAT does not connect?
Sorry, no answer here on the hotspot issue. Have you PMd Mister ClearD? He is very responsive and has been working hard on this whole hotspot issue... he'd likely be very interested in your problem.
I too am running 1.2.11, and am delighted with it. However, I am wondering if there is any way to get more volume out of the speaker for ringtones and alarms. I have them maxed out on the phone's adjustments, but it's still awfully quiet.
Michael look for an app called volume+ made by meltus I believe in the market. It works with gingerbread but not froyo. There is a few other fixes for the volume limit but I can't link them currently because I am on my phone. Do a search for it and it should come up. If someone doesn't post it up.

Hello,
Last night I flashed the latest ClearDroid ROM 1.1.51, but when I check under the software information menu, it says the Android version is 2.2.1
The flash seems to work because it says it's running Cleardroid.
Shouldn't it be running the Gingerbread (2.3) update or am I mistaken?
Also, the data connection seems to screw up, and only works when it wants. Sometimes ROM Manager will disappear from the apps menu.
I did a full wipe before flashing and it still won't work.
I also just flashed CoreDroid and it did update to 2.3 , but I want my stock HTC theme back!
Thanks!

The version 1.1.51 is still on froyo build but has the new ril for gingerbread. On the first page of the Dev post he has a link to the matching radio. Give it a flash and see if it helps with your data connection. If you want gingerbread his version 1.2.xx is the gingerbread Rom (still in beta), it has the fix for messaging but he is still working on tethering. It's still the stock look to the dot
On the app side I don't know what could be going on there, sorry I couldn't help on that point, (since I'm not having that particular error)

im personally running 1.2.12 RC2 which is his latest Beta, along with the suggested radio. i dont have any problems with network and it looks and behaves great while keeping that stock look. honestly i love this ROM. if you have any major questions just send ClearD a PM and he will get back to you. probably my favorite dev because he is so thorough and responsive to his followers.

to post my own answer ClearD told me that 1.2.12 has a working tether program. he is still working on making the stock tether work but for now the one he has included in the rom works great so no need for barnacle
Thanks Pytheous and Hiyabuz! I'll give the latest beta a shot because last night I flashed the rooted AT&T stock rom and my battery life improved but I'm still having data problems. Now I'm not sure if it's my cell company or the ROM that's causing the problems.
I'm afraid of flashing the radio and losing my signal completely!

This ROM, from what i can tell, is basically a stock ROM with all of the bloatware crap taken out, and a few cool gadgets added here and there. I love the ROM and the way it feels, but what i love the most is the responsiveness of the Dev for the ROM. If i have an issue i just send him a PM and he either sends me an answer or gets to work on it right away.
as for the radio i flashed the reccomended one on his original dev post and i actually get better signal in most places.
I also have another question of my own. i wanted to test out the GPS last night and it seemed a little more sluggish than stock. i could be immagining things but i was wondering if anyone else was having this problem also.

ok thanks buz. i just wanted to check
i only used it for about 3 min so it wasnt a very good judge of use
For example yesterday I retried mine first reconnect of gps after upping to new radio took 5 mins without vase and was sluggish. With case it took almost 10, today with case on first lock took 14secs with an 8 sat lock inside and using my case. its been awesome since he put in the gps fix. B4 it could take up to 30 mins for first lock without my case and it was only like 4 sats.

Noob here, I flashed the ClearDroid 1.2.12 rom a couple of days ago and love it. The only thing i want to change is the secure box in the messages menu. I would like to hide it or remove it, is it possible? Any help is appreciated, I did search I swear I did.
Will the Tiny audio fix work with this rom?
Issues with using latest gingerbread build.
Hello CleardDroid team;
I am a big fan your ROM, it works great on my phone. I have some serious issues using this ROM;
1) I am unable to compose message, when i try to compose message it force closes. I have tried alot to fix the issue but unable to resolve it. I have cleared its data, restarted it, fix the permissions using ROM manager, but failed to fix the issue.
2) Hotspot is not working, but I guess you are working on it.

NexusMod-ICS-Zero-Beta-12-Update-NexusUI Random Reboot??

Hey guys i just got my phone rooted and flash the NexusMod-ICS-Zero-Beta-12-Update-NexusUI Build and i love it, but the only thing about this build is that for some strange reason the phone just rebooted and i wasnt doing anything with the phone. anyone with this problem??
as of now i went with another rom the sky ics 4.2E and its running great but theres one thing also, i cant get the gallery wallpapers running all i got is a little freeze and nothing, just the live wallpapers are working.
As for the reboot, understand that all the ICS roms are built off leaks, not official ICS. So there is bound to be issues.
As for the wallpaper issue, check the thread for that rom. Its bound to be answered in there.

[Q] Scrolling Problem in Jelly Bean

I've been having issues ever since I've updated to Jelly Bean where the scrolling has become very annoying. I'm on Bruce's Jelly Bean ROM and when I scroll quickly (by swiping multiple times in quick succession) sometimes the scrolling will just come to a dead stop all of a sudden, as if the list tripped. I've tried many different CPU settings to no avail, and honestly the phone runs perfectly smooth save for this hiccup. The only instance I can find of this elsewhere is with the galaxy nexus on jelly bean... some users seem to be running into a similar issue, though I'm not sure if it's related. There's been speculation that it has something to do with Jelly Bean predicting touches.
Does anyone have any info on this for me? Any fixes? I've tried all of the developer options... and show screen touches shows me that the phone is registering my motions perfectly. I'm stumped, and it's quite annoying.
Have you tired a full wipe and fresh install? I too am running jelly bean but a different rom. I've not had that issue but sometimes a fresh install helps with little bugs. Just wondering if you tired that yet? Are you sure it's rom related a and not device related? Have you tired running a different rom just to check to make sure the issue isn't related to the device? If issue is still present on a different rom it could be that the problem is related to the device instead of the rom. Do some experiencing and find out if it's the rom or your device. If it's rom related do try the fresh install and see if it helps. Can't hurt to try.. I hope you get your issue resolved soon. Best wishes.

I'm fairly sure it's the ROM. I have restored a nandroid backup to CM9 and it doesn't have the issue. I believe it's something in Jelly Bean, maybe having to do with project butter. Everything runs very well on the phone save for this issue. I'll try wiping this morning. Thanks for the reply!
I'm running paranoid Android which is also jelly bean. I don't have that issue at all. If the clean install does not fix the issue maybe try another jelly bean rom like paranoid Android. It's really been surprisingly stable and I use as daily driver. I've had no issues at all with it. Perhaps give it a try and see what you think. I really like it. It's fast and smooth and it's been really reliable.

is it ok to flash stock ics rom when on cm10?

Hello, yesterday I was on my phone when it suddenly just seemed to shut off. I have cm10, and want to get rid of it and go back to stock. can i go back to the stock ics rom instead of gingerbread, and be able to do it on cm10 at the time? i can restore to the time i had my phone just rooted and stock ics. i just dont want to go through the trouble of going back to gingerbread stock rom and then updating to ics stock rom through kies. thanks in advance.
side question: is it normal for my phone to randomly shut off on cm10? from what i hear, its the screen of death. it happened to me 2 days after i flashed cm10 and then happened yesterday. (i flashed cm10 last month). if it occurs this often im going back to stock. im fine with the t mobile apps as long as no random reboots occur.
Just restore a backup it will work fine

i'd prefer not to, i feel nightlies pose more of a risk than the stable. I think i'll just go back to my backup.

I too have been experiencing what appears to be the SOD. The bottom "soft buttons" light up and the phone is dead. I have to perform a forced reboot to get it working. I am running CM 10-20130804 but it was happening on nightly builds before this version as well. It happens every few days for me. I keep hoping the next build will make it go away but it always comes back. I even posted the issue in the CM 10 thread but no one had any ideas other than a complete wipe and reinstall and i would rather not do that for CM10. I am waiting for the 10.2.....
mine shut off less frequently than yours. my question is: can i download stock ics rom from sammobile and use that through odin? i dont want to use stock gingerbread rom and then update through kies.

Nightlies are very stable. The listed "stable" has many issues and would pose more of a threat than the nightlies. Try them out sometime . If something happens (which I highly doubt something will) we will be here to help and guide you

Truly amazing its almost a year. The cm10.2 ROM and variations are pretty stable for alpha builds. Once the camera is fixed we should be good to go.

in the end i just went back to stock ics rom. no need to worry about random shut-offs (used to happen on stock rom rooted, with "shell has been granted superuser permissions"). can i delete the clockworkmod folder and root stuff? i take it i cant go into cwm recovery without root.
bump. final question is what do i need to delete to leave no traces of being rooted before? is it safe to delete the clockworkmod folder in my phone files?

The quote-unquote "Stable" build was not stable at all. It was captured before it was supposed to. Something like 2 or 3 nightly builds after that they incorporated the SOD fix into the kernel.
The latest nightly for CM10 is 100% stable as far as SOD, reboots, crashes, etc. I didn't ever have any problems with it up until I flashed beanstalk. I encourage you to give the latest nightly a chance before you go back to 4.0.4, but it's ultimately your choice
Agreed with above

4.4 Kit/kat rom

nope those 3 build threads are it
I suggest using kitkang http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2525831
as its the latest rom with Nightlys going on every night
and seems to be the only one making progress so far (FCC,SD,Overall UI smoothness,Video GPU performance)
SSPENCER10 is working very well for me. Everything he is putting out is stable and appears to be having fewer issues than KitKang. It is even working just as well with ART as it was with Dalvik. The 11-23 build also has the new CM11 boot animation.

You realize they are all based on exactly the same code right?
And you realize that if one makes 'progress' they all make 'progress' because they use the same code right?
[ROM][4.3.1][Official][OSE Rom][d2vzw]
I'm using this one and so far so good.
It has nightlies that have 4.4
I'd recommend KitKang. It's been extremely stable and has really good battery life. ART works very well.

Summary: I don't think KitKang is recognizing my SIM card, and is causing "Phone" to crash every second or two.
Hey guys, I tried flashing the latest KitKang ROM last night, but ran into a big issue. I wiped system, cache, dalvik cache, etc. I then reflashed the MF1 firmware (it was already flashed, but for some reason I always feel better re-flashing it every time.) Then I flashed the latest KitKang D2VZW nightly linked above, and flashed the GApps mentioned in that thread too. However, upon rebooting, every second or so it would say "phone has forced closed" (or something along those lines. Also, there was no signal. I got through the setup process after a VERY long time of pressing "okay" to that error and setting up my CM and Google accounts with one key in between each error. I thought I would be able to go into Mobile Networks and change the settings, which fixed certain early issues with CM10.1 or 10.2, but to no avail. I then tried reflashing (after wiping clean) CM10.2 again to get certain files for the phone to work, then flashing CM11 over that, and it seemed to work up until it freezes after getting to the home screen. Any thoughts on what the issue may be and/or how to fix it?
Thanks!
