I have a VZ i815 on the latest ICS. My battery reporting is very funky. Pretty much whenever I power cycle the device, the reported battery is usually 10-30% below where it was previously. It then goes to 0, shuts off, and when I turn it back on, it will report 20+% typically. Then, after it hits 0, I can usually get it to turn on and show 7-10% battery life that discharges quickly, which I can do 2-3 times before crapping out entirely. For some reason there is a disconnect b/w what's in the battery and what's being measured/reported.
I tried wiping battery stats in CWM after doing a full discharge, full charge, wipe stats, full discharge, full charge, full discharge, then full charge. It is still having the problem.
Any thoughts?
You have to calibrate battery.

For my HTC Hero, people on the boards recommended wiping battery stats and fully draining the battery for a couple of cycles.
Is it recommended for the Gtab as well? Are you able to wipe battery stats on this thing?

If you flash clockworkmod you can wipe battery stats.
What exactly does wiping battery stats do? My gtab never charges past 97%. Would this re-calibrate it so that full charge showed 100%?
It's not even a minor annoyance so I'm not intetrested in anything requiring me to drain completely but if this is a simple fix I would give it a go.
I have the same problem...battery won't charge past 96%. I've charged it overnight and wiped battery stats with no success. Any ideas how to fix this??
Vegan 5.1.1
Same issue here, sadly. First time charging, it got up to 100%. After that now though, it stops charging at 98%. No amount of bump charging, battery stat wiping, draining battery, etc, has seemed to work.
It charges to 100% when using it while plugged in. I mean if it matters to you to see the big 100 once in a while ;-)
Not for me, lol. Meh, not a HUGE deal, but kind of a bummer.
Mine has the same issue. Charged overnight while powered on and while powered off and the highest the battery meter reads is 98%. I have attempted to wipe the battery stats, completely drain the battery, and wipe user data- all to no avail. While slightly irritating, it really seems as if the battery is functioning normally and the breakdown is simply the calibration of the software. I am easily getting 6-8 hours depending on usage.
Mine did that as well in the beginning, but after a bunch of good charge discharge cycles charges to 100%.
I don't know if it's the ROM itself, the battery or any other problem but every time my phone dies & I put it on the charge for a couple of minutes, I turn it back on & the battery level jumps up about 30%. What should I do about this?
i.e. I'm not running on the stock ROM.
It might have to do with the Sensation's issue with reporting battery levels accurately--sort of like how your phone stays at 100% for several hours before finally dropping down.
Is it a stock battery or large capicity version, if the larger version there is an issue with some roms or phones recognising the battery correctly
It's the stock battery that came with the phone...do I have to calibrate the battery?
One thing you could try is charging the battery to 100%, then booting into clockworkmod recovery, go to advanced, and click wipe battery stats. Then once the phone boots just unplug it and let it drain from normal use, and charge it to a hundred another 2-3 times and that should get the battery back on track. I did this after changing roms and it worked for me
may some of the wipe battery options can help you
Flashed 9.0.0-HFS-1.4 with faux123-049 onto my G2X (P999), did a full wipe and wiped batter stats at 100% charge. I even unplugged and plugged in again several times with the phone off to make sure it was completely topped off.
I'm getting 999% battery and it will not change. Should I try it again? Run it through a few more charge/drain cycles?
Thanks.
Did you run a battery calibration app? Try battery calibrator, but make sure it can be used with ics.
It is very important! First zaradka battery should be about 12 hours. After complete relaxation, and so repeated several times. This at least ensures the correct operation of the battery.
I'm a crack-flasher between stock-rooted and CM10. The last time I flashed back to stock-rooted, I've noticed that the phone dies at around 20% remaining shown. No 15% or 5% warnings, no power-saving measures, just dies and won't reboot until it's plugged back in. The weird thing is, if I charge for a few minutes, it'll reboot and show ~5% remaining with power-savers in place (dark screen, no haptic feedback, etc), then die when it gets to 0%. If I charge it for longer, to say 30%, it'll die once again at 20%. I've tried using BatteryCalibrator to reset the percentage count, didn't work. I've tried erasing Battery Stats using CWM 6.0.1.0, didn't work. Any more ideas I can try?
Hi everyone, im having a problem with this phone:
1- Charging the phone never reach 100% in one charge, it always stops charing at a random number, for example 70%, no matter how much time i let the phone charging it never goes past that. The solution is unplug and plug again, then it reaches 100%.
2- The number 1 is not a big deal but this is. The phone automatically turn off at a random number again, let say 66%, and i cant turn it on. If i connect the phone to the charger it says 0% battery. Is not like the % freezes at 66% and i use it all day and then turn off. For example, i have the phone at 100%, i start using it and i see the % going down like normal and after an hour or two of using it suddenly turn off and im not able to turn it on again because the battery is at 0%.
I tried:
Hard reset, wiping cache, data.
Hard reset, wiping cache, data and installing the latest stock rom.
New battery.
Different charger.
I have no idea what else to try, anyone have a clue?
Thanks!
I think the battery is broken, also had the problem. Then I bought me one on Ebay for 9,99€ and now everything is good again.
Try using a -known- good cable and charger.
Make sure the port contacts are clean and debris free. Always charge with screen off.
You can also try powering the phone off and see if this alters its charging pattern.
My best guess...
When it auto shuts down again pull the battery and measure its actual voltage to determine if it's at about 6%.
If actual voltage indicates it's at 6%* may be a bad battery (limited capacity) or a hardware failure (shutting the charge cycle down prematurely).
If battery actually has 20% or higher when the phone shuts down) it indicates a hardware failure in the phone.
If battery temp exceeds about 102°F during charging the phone will abort the charge; make sure this isn't the cause. A hot charging battery in a cool room could indicate a battery or hardware failure. If battery temp exceeds 107°F or so in operation the phone may also auto shutdown.
Excessive cold (>32°F) will effect battery capacity severely.
Don't charge a cold Li battery (under 70°F).
Never charge if at or below freezing**.
Li's like a charge temp range of 80-95°F
They prefer frequent, short mid range charge cycles (40-65%) vs topping them off beyond 80%
*hunt down the voltage/% charge for this battery
**can cause Li plating which will permanently degrade the cell
