[Q] eHRPD Problem - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

So I was using my phone and suddenly the 4G changed to 1X. I rebooted but it still remained at 1X. Reflashed my ROM, now I see 3G and sometimes 1X, but no more 4G. in the Phone info app, its set to LTE/CDMA/EVDO but Network type displays "eHRPD:13".
Also, in Settings under More Network Settings>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names, its always set to eHRPD and when I try to set it to LTE nothing happens even after a reboot.
I tried removing my SIM and inserting again, didn't work.
My IMEI is still there and has never been lost.
I even odined back to stock HE to try and fix the fix problem. Nothing....
I really need help with this, idk what happened and don't know what else to do.
Can anyone help me out?

Stay on TW and try to reprovision your sim card using this code:
*2767*3855#
I believe it will format your internal memory so back everything up beforehand.

Strange, I went to bed last night getting only 3G. Woke up with 4G and great signal! lol Thanks for your help though.

Data Problem, What Should I Do?

I just started having this issue, i can't connect to any data at all, i have tried battery pulls, using restart connection, running different roms, using restores where everything was working, doing a full wipe and then installing a new rom, but still no luck. Should i try just a factory restore? i also read that taking out the battery, then take out the sim card, booting the phone up with out the sim card in, getting errors and then shut it off and then put the sim card back in works, but im not sure which of those to try, any advice?
when that happened to me i did a factory reset and it worked afterward
Check around first, see if Verizon is having problems in your area. I know recently places have been popping up with sporadic outages.

But isn't installing a rom and wiping the data and cache the same as a factory restore?
I had this happen to me earlier this week. When I called Verizon support they told me that towers were down in my area, they told me the same when I called back the next day. Meanwhile, others who own the TB seemed to be having no issues. Finally I took my phone into a Verizon store and they are shipping me a replacement phone. They would not swap my phone in the store since I was a whopping 4 days beyond the 14 day return window...but, I digress.
The one workaround that I found in the meantime is to switch your modem settings. Dial ##778, select Edit Mode, enter 000000 as the password and select Modem Settings. Select Rev. A and choose Enable. Press your menu button and select Commit Changes. Your phone will reboot and you can use the LTE On/Off App (or just dial *#*#4636#*#* and choose Phone information) and switch the radio to CDMA Auto (PRL). That enabled me to have 3G data, though it seems extremely slow relative to 3G on my OG Droid. But, in a pinch it seems to work.
One additional bit of advice, in case you are running a custom ROM. I was running Virus ROM and ##778 would crash whenever I tried to run it. In order to swap the modem settings, I had to flash back to stock and make the updates, then flash back to Virus. I don't know if this is specific to Virus, but just an FYI.
Just tried on das bamf and worked fine (##778) must just be virus.

You won't get 4G on that setting, it turns the 4G radio off entirely. You would need to switch back to the CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto or LTE mode settings to get 4G. Ultimately, my issue ended up being a defective phone. You can try to wait it out and see if you get 4G back later, but you may just have a faulty device.
If that is the case, just remember to follow the instructions that jcase posted in the development forum to get your phone back to stock with s-on before taking it into a Verizon store. If you bring a rooted device in, I suspect they aren't going to honor any sort of warranty.
My phone had this problem too... turns out when I went into a 4g area the mobile network box got unchecked in the wireless & network settings.
I use the "verify with multiple devices method". I am tired of the standard VZW "towers are down in your area" bs answer.
If another tb, xoom, and bb have service and my tb doesn't, that tells me something is wrong.
I have a feeling that there is something seriously wrong with the network (implementation or backend hardware) that is causing this with 4G devices. Either that or the tb is to blame entirely for Verizon's 4G issues...... /rantoff..... LOL

Was having issues earlier today with 4G. The connection and signal were good, but no data would download. The white up arrow would light up, but the down arrow never would. It was like that for about 4 hours. It's working great now and speeds are disgustingly fast.. maybe VZ doing some maintenance?
EDIT: THis is in San Diego.

Factory Reset from bootloader worked for me. I had the exact same problem. Tried everything that was suggested, but no data still. Only enabling Rev. A worked.
Thanks for the help, the problem I'm having now is I got 3g but I can't get 4G back, I have tried to switch my settings back to get 4G using LTE on/off and by dialing the number, and I have had no luck, in those menus it tells me service type LTE but it is disconnected, and I get no data or 4G symbol in the status bar, so I'm confused if I maybe messed up a setting or what, so should I just try a factory restore via the bootloader and see if that works? Any other suggestions ?

I would try the factory reset from bootloader, but I was on the stock ROM when I did it. So I don't know if that would matter or not.

Just to reiterate, my 4G never came back. The phone was just broken. It sounds suspiciously like you are having the same issue. Maybe there is a manufacturing defect that makes this issue more prevalent with this phone right now? If you are in the 14 day return period, set your modem and radio settings back and get into the store ASAP to swap the phone out. Otherwise, call customer service and have them replace the phone. They will overnight you a new phone if you complain enough.
Ok I was looking through my modem settings after dialing ##778 and I had changed the rev a. Setting to enable, that got my 3g working, but what is eHRPD is that would I should have it on too have 3g/4g? But everytime I have tried setting it to that I get no data so is that the setting that is messed up?

1x? no H or 3G? WTF? CM7

I'm having a few problems with this latest of the nightlies:
First off with the network...I get 1x and edge signal although my apn is set correctly I never get anything else (no H or 3g)
Secondly I am getting some force closes of android phone process and the wireless settings in the hidden menu (*#*#4636#*#*) when selecting the band.
I am also unable to pick the band

i am also having the same problem.. i did i speed test on 1x in my local mall and i got 6mb/s which is defiantly "4g" speeds. im just gonna try and figure out how to change the 1x logo to a 4g logo
I am definitely not getting 4g speed with 1x as you can see from my screen shots posted...it also says I'm on cdma which I have no idea how to switch
I am getting about 2Mb down and .7 up
Edit: or not because of some new problem about my screen shot not having a valid file format

g2x "No Service"
Just few hours ago, my phone suddenly lost its signal and it didn't came back.
Any idea why?
Any troubleshooting suggestions?
Thanks.
That is most likely because your apns disappeared...you should turn airplane mode on and reboot your phone and see if they come back...if it doesn't try removing the sim card and starting without it and then put it back in. also there is a free app called (global apn) in the market that can help you restore some tmobile apns

[Q] Need help!! Data randomly stopped working....

Hey guys,
I was running Eaglesblood 2.4 with faux's kernel and all of a sudden my data connection just stopped working. I tried everything, rebooting, hard rebooting, fixing permissions etc.. and nothing worked. All the while I was searching online to see if T-mobile was experiencing a data outage in my area, but nothing. I flashed Eaglesblood again thinking that maybe that would re-set everything but still no data. I then thought maybe it was an issue with Eaglesblood so I flashed the cm7 stable rom doing everything correctly. Still no data. Nothing's working. Anybody have any idea what might be wrong and how I should fix this?
Thanks for the help!
Have you tried a wifi connection? If that doesn't work either then maybe something hardware related went. Hope not though.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
yea wifi works but wifi calling doesn't. its just says "connection error" when i try to get it going. Also, when i go to call settings>additional settings, i get this message: call settings error (network or sim card error). Not sure whats goin on, it just happened suddenly which is the most weird part.
Sim card might have crapped out. Have someone else's or a different tmobile phone you can test it in?

ya im gonna try my sim in another phone. good call. seems like thats the only thing it could be at this point
well i tried my sim card in my old unlocked blackberry bold 9000 and after the phone says "searching for a signal" i just get the "sim card rejected" message. so yea I'm thinking it must be an issue with my sim card...
That sucks. Give T-Mobile a call and have them check your account first to make sure it isn't a problem on their end.

Possible fix to data connection issues

As with many skyrocket users, there seems to be trouble connecting to the AT&T data network for an extended time. the 4g icon indicates its connected but won't send or receive data unless packet data is disconnected and re enabled. After some hours of research and calls to customer service, I've found what could be a potential fix.
By dialing the ussd code ( *#*#4636#*#*) a menu comes up and gives you the options of
phone information
battery information
Usage statistics
And wifi information.
Under the phone information menu, an option for data network preferences appears at the bottom of the screen. By changing third setting, the connection issues should be solved...
however...
I can't seem to get any of the selections to stay. meaning, are I select my preference and exit, when I return to the screen its at its original setting. I believe it may change and stay if I rout which I haven't due to my phone being an AT&T company phone so if any rooted skyrockets would like to volunteer and test out my theory, we would all be greatly appreciated.

You are basically disabling the LTE radio (network) but it is temporary (for testing purposes). I think using a non-LTE APN will do the same thing and you can change it back when you are ready. Someone that knows more can correct me if I am wrong.
I used that method originally however I ran into the same issues. I was using the CINGULAR.WAP apn.
If anyone knows of another apn that I can test I would appreciate it

OK so this is what worked for me
For apn name i put AT&T and for apn type I put just : Phone and left everything else blank and even input the mms setting found online for at&t and that's got me hspa data so far

yes you have to add the other APNs for this to work. If you only have the PTA APN, it will only lock onto LTE if in a LTE area.
Now if you are rooted and running a ROM where you can change the network within the normal options area, you have to set the APN first then change to H+. It may fail the first time but try it again and eventually it will downshift to H+.

Is it because i have only 3g available in india..?? also will I be able to change to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE AUTO" when i come back to United States???
AT&T Samsung Galaxy SII SGT-I727 data issues fixed ...
I broke my old HTC Inspire. I purchased a Samsung Galaxy SII SGH-I727 off of the eBay as a replacement.
When I moved the SIM card over everything was fine, except I had no data, even though I have a valid data plan. I still had wireless at home, but my data plan did not work when out on the street.
I called AT&T, told them the issue, and that I suspected that it had something to do with "LTE". They made some internal changes, which sounded like they activated LTE service for me. Data plan now working perfectly.

No 4G LTE

I'm running the latest stock JB Leak (K1), I've flashed the K1 and HE radios in CWM but all I ever get is a 3g signal in areas I'd usually get 4 bars of LTE.
I've already tried:
Flashing K1 and HE Radios in CWM
Restarting
Changing Network mode to CDMA/LTE from Global
Picking LTE - Verizon Internet in Access Point Names
After flashing a radio hitting Clear Cache and Dalvik Cache
Restarting without SIM in and then Restarting with the SIM
Thanks in advance.
What did you use to go from cdma to lte?
Sent from the Matrix
You've already tried what I would suggest:
Go to Settings, Wireless/More Settings, Mobile Networks, Network Mode, LTE/CDMA. Then Access Point Names, LTE.
The only time (with HE or K1) I can't pick up 4G well is in my house. I go outside and it picks it up, but inside will drop to 3G.
If it's an issue for you, then you may want to revert back to whatever Ice Cream Sandwich ROM you were using before, such as HE, G7, or F2.
If you did a backup in Clock Work Recovery, then you can just restore it.

Global (Whenever I switch to LTE/CDMA it eventually asks if I want to switch to global, no difference seen between them)

Hmm you might just have to wipe the phone and flash clean

I had to exchange my phone with Verizon
I just nandroided back to ICS, it's acting very funny.
I can get a LTE signal now but ONLY by going to an app (Phone Info) and switching from LTE/CDA/EvDo to LTE only. Also after switching to LTE it still only shows a signal of -120dBM (while still showing an LTE icon), after I switch the screen off and then back on it shows bars and the dBM starts to register normally.
I can still not get LTE to work regularly with CDMA/EvDo and haven't seen it switch to LTE once without me changing it.
I've tried the K1, JB and HE stock radios.
Would clearing all data before doing the nandroid do anything?
bumping
Fixed the problem, I got everything cleaned up and back to stock (using the guide that's pinned in the Q/A forum and went into Verizon, they gave me a new SIM Card and I can now get 4g LTE again, still on stock, will be nandroiding when I get out of class.
If there are any probems after the nandroid I'll post them here, if not everything went according after the nandroid.
So if anyone in the future is having this problem it could be the SIM card.

I was just going to recommend trying the Re-provision code (only works on early ICS builds), and if that didn't work getting a new SIM card.
Glad to hear the SIM card fixed your issues!
I had the same issue. But a new sim didnt fix the issue. Replacement on the way.
