When I try to use the Verizon auto wifi app it tells me that it is for Verizon roms only. I am using a sprint jelly bean rom that was ported over. Any help would be great.
You answered your own question. It sees a different build number and wont let you run it. PureMotive has already rebased his rom on the verizon leak and is being beta teated right now, it should be public in a couple days. Otherwise till then there are a couple apps out there that will turn wifi on and off via location, i.e. Tasker

Just bought a used skyrocket only problem is the battery door got Lil scratches (already order new one on eBay for 5 bucks) but got it for a sweet 200! So people its already rooted (he said he used super one click) stock recovery and on 2.3.6 is it hard to install roms on here and any good ones?

All the roms are good and their not very hard to install. Make sure you do your fair share of reading. All the info you need are in these forums. Look at the sticky threads in each section. Good luck

Looking good!
im using skymod 5.1. uses Apex launcher and is fairly stable...thing is you never know with ROMs based on leaked code if it's the dev or just bugged ICS code.
ill i really want is an experience that's just pure Android, no UI BS...just pure. I miss my Nexus One for that exact reason.
Here's all the ROMS for skyrocket: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383464
I'm running ICS RC7.4 Speed though: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377087
Yes so many ICS roms yet they ain't stable for DD right? Also feel so dumb and totally forgot the the rocket has nfc. So far reading no ics rom has that working correct? I'm assuming that one we get a official release of ICS then nfc should work?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
1) nfc works
2) many people use it as a dd, no fcs or instabilities, just a few tiny bugs, that may or may not annoy (shutdown/reboot anyone?)

As well as the ROMS this "all in one location" helped me it links how to Root (different methods) one click works best for me, talks about kernals, ODIN return to stock, and much more.
As always READ READ READ. I read for about 2 months. Was rooted, downloaded an app that borked my modem. Knew exactly where to go to return to stock......
OK have to look at it ICS some more just loving alien#6 to much with faux kernel!
But anybody recommended a ICS that's pretty stable and has nfc working?

Went to nexus mod from loving it!

Started with NexusMod 4 and quickly went to NexusMod ICS Slim. This ROM blazes on the latest ICS leak and the developer is quick on updates and support. I personally use it as a Daily Driver with very few hiccups.

I got my s2 last week and installed ICS yesterday. It's amazing how much my phone improved. Here's the link with easy instructions to download:

OK is anyway to change restrictions on changing apn. I need mms and it won't work cause it keep saying " ics does not allow write apn changes

Currently on SKY ICS UCLD2 by seanzscreams.
It's pretty good but read and reread the instructions he posted when installing this ROM.
I believe the ics superlite by mhx is a simpler install.

I don't use att. I use a company called red pocket. And mms don't work on any ICS roms I flash
It keeps telling me you can't write apn settings on ICS. So I'm stuck as to getting this to work?

are u using a third party program from the market to enter the apns? If so that's y. Enter them manually. Settings > more > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names. Then hit menu button

903tex, did you download the Red Pocket configurator from the market? I thought that sets up the apn for you, maybe not w/ ICS.
Emerging story this morning regarding factory reset based on a simple SSID code that can be implanted into a website, hyperlink, or NFC and will auto launch.
I imagine any stock based ROM is vulnerable, perhaps someone can confirm or deny whether there is confirmation for.NFC and dialing SSID codes in stock based.

Some more sources out there, was originally posted to Twitter.

the vulnerability exists in other roms as well. its got to do with the dialer. cm9 stock dialer is susceptible as well. here is a site to check if your phone is vulnerable. if it displays your imei, you're vulnerable. source: techcrunch.

Looks like MIUI is vulnerable. My IMEI popped up immediately. Interesting...
Just gonna tell you guys you can back up the imei and meid via a simple flash able zip. This is done all the time for some gs3 variants (mine included)

This was supposedly fixed as of our official ICS update (4.0.4), so unless you're on a Wiz-based Gingerbread ROM or an old leak, you should be fine.

Damn.. I read about this and figured since I wasn't using TW and had CM9.1 that I had nothing to worry about. Just visited that link and my IMEI came up. Hopefully the CM guys can come up with a fix soon. Maybe they already have with their nightlies but I only flash major releases.
Anyone running stock with latest update still having this problem?
Running UCLE2 with TWizUX the link pops my imei, but only via stock browser -not Opera. Seems like a good workaround.

I have no problems. If it doesn't work try to do it on mobile data and not Wi-Fi the first time. If it still doesn't work get Verizon login from the play store. That should do it. After that all your Verizon apps should work fine.

I tried it with several ROMs. Jelly Beans 6/7, Executioner, MIUI and Cleanrom Regular/Lite. I am able to connect and receive files from a non rooted Jelly Bean Verizon Galaxy S3. Even my fiances rooted s3 currently on Executioner ROM, does the same thing. I'm thinking did they leave something on the leak version or? I am able to S Beam, and connect via WiFi direct. The only problem is when we send files they don't get an incoming file notification. Anyone else have this problem? I mean WiFi direct is one of the best features it being able to transfer files so fast. I need that ish though lol. Although my friends non rooted JB GS3 works perfect. It's like I wanna go back to stock yo!

Hi all,
I don't know whether I'm posting my question in the correct forum or not.
My Phone is SCH I-535. Accidentally, I upgraded to 4.3.
I have rooted and downloaded rootchecker from play store and it is rooted successfully.
Basically, I did a big blunder last time, by flashing a wrong ROM altogether. Flashed the International Version ROM and it hard bricked, and it was a mess. I could not use my phone for almost 6 months since, I did not have time to work on this. So now, I got the phone up and running and I did not know that, I should not accept the 4.3 update. So I did accept and now I'm on 4.3 and rooted.
Basically, I have 3 requirements.
1. Get a clean, fast, simple ROM, which has only essential Apps and no bloatware - CAN ANYONE SUGGEST ANY ROM-SCH-I535,4.3,ROOTED
2. Get the HotSpot feature working - I downloaded foxfi, and it is working fine. But if the stock Hotspot feature works, then it will be great. I don't like many Apps in my phone. I feel they make it a bit slow. I want my phone to be as fast as possible.
3. Increase the Brightness of my screen. I read somewhere about the kernel modification or something. I tried to do that last time and I messed it up badly.
So, I did not want to do anything stupid this time and I'm posting here.
I have read different threads and there is a lot of information, and that's how, I was able to root this 4.3 SCH I-535. But I don't want to do anything on my own, with out expert advice. So I'm posting here.
Any help is highly appreciated. Thank You.
1. Lots of great roms available, take a look at all of them and see what looks interesting. Every rom will be experienced differently by everybody, so your best option here is to systematically try them out until you find a good one that runs like you need it to. Remember you need safestrap in order to do this and the rom can only be 4.3 TouchWiz.
2. I think there's a wifi hack somewhere that will remove the Verizon prompt completely. Not sure where to find it though, might not be s3 specific.
3. Increasing the brightness may not be possible. If there is a way, then an xposed module might be able to do it. Take a look at all of them and see if something allows you to modify that.
