I just upgraded to Windoze 7. I was using xp since it came out. Very few issues I couldnt figure out. I even got proficient at killing viruses when limelite was still the defacto way to download. I am usually pretty decent at figuring out stuff, like granting permissions and stuff, but google has let me down this time (or I am not describing it right).
I keep most of my media on a hard drive, and then distribute it from there.
However since switching to w7, each and every time I go into the drive it starts "compiling" or "indexing". I think thats what its called. I prefer to keep the media on the external drive organized so that the newest file is at the end of the list. It works for me, then I can see other files and go back or forward to find the one I need. I am a visual based learner. All told theres about 1500 various kinds of files, and 15 folders.
So when I click on drive k: and it opens in a browser window, the address bar starts showing its progress in its compiling or indexing. Fine, it takes about 30 seconds (its an older Maxtor 200gb drive thats about 90% full). If it did it once every time I turn the comp on and go into it, it would be fine, but.....its each and every time I access it, even if its going in , then into a sub folder then back out of the sub folder, in side of 10 seconds. I am starting to waste hours each week waiting for it to find and organize it.
WTHeck is the setting to get it to "memorize" and keep it organized oldest to newest?
Cheers
Alan
try "disable indexing" in drive properties
You do know this is a Device Developing Forum....

A picture is worth a thousand words... So they say. But this picture is missing one word - the name of the software. Suspects are: Qmenu, SPB pocket plus, Phonealarm, WM native behaviour. If anyone knows this, please share, I'm having weird battery problems (like shutdown on 30% and then after powering up, sitting on 1% for over an hour with active usage). I'd like to hunt this bug down and make a kill. Screenshot was made with auto-capture utility, because it only shows right before shutdown, so this bugger was hard to catch. Even now bottom of the image is missing, probably due to write operation being interrupted by shutdown. You can see behind the image in question there is PhonEx being meddled with.
Thanks.

I have no idea what it is (not even sure what I'm supposed to be looking at), but get a task manager like dotfred's or xtask and look up all the open windows. You should be able to track it down that way, and remove whatever's opening it up.
Well, thanks for the advice, but if You read carefully what I wrote, then You could imagine that it's really hard to pull that off in 2-3 seconds while the device is shutting down. Of course, if there would be a system snapshot kind of program - which would let me take a snapshot or log of all open windows in every 1-2 seconds - then it would be awesome, but I am not aware that the utilities You mentioned are able to accomplish that.
How to cut the cords for $5.00

3 now on you computer you will need double twist
PC: http://download.doubletwist.com/doubleTwistSetup.exe
MAC:
After launch Airsync on your Android phone
You will see

Note:
Numbers may Vary
5 next u should see a screen like this
Note Phone name may vary
6 next click
And your done
Now to sync your Data
Go to www.dropbox.com
Or you can do it for free by getting Google Music and never sync again. Plus doubletwist desktop app is very buggy and is very prone to crashes.
I can attest to the doubletwist desktop app sync being buggy. I found it unusable.
I haven't found it that buggy but it is slow. It seems to take almost twice as long to move files about using it instead of cables . I only really use it if I can't be bothered to fetch a cable.
Kinda useless with the b0rked picture links. Cannot you just use attachments?
Mac version of doubletwist is fine for me. Never had any issue. I no longer us it though, instead I use isyncr
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I cant find any anywhere. I remember there used to be decent ones a couple years ago but where did they go? I want to track all my keystrokes. Anyone have a lead? This is legit -- its just for myself only as I do it on WhatPulse http://whatpulse.org/ at work and at home so i want to add it to my devices so I can find out just how many buttons I push all day in a week, month, etc.
I can also do this via a script, but Id rather do it with a clean apk that logs just strokes.
Haha, very misleading title ;-).
You are rather looking for keyboard statistics?
Those need to be offered from the keyboard apps itself else it would really be a keylogger.
I'm using SwiftKey and this is the statistic it offers, maybe it is enough?

You can download one again and get a keylogger apk. There is a lot of keyloggers available on the Internet now. For android, you can try ikeymonitor, which is currently free to download. ikeymonitor.com/download
Am I dreaming I had it from day one or?
Today I wanted to transfer few hundreds of megs to my coworker and surprisingly the wi-fi direct was not present in the pull down menu for the sharing option (Root Explorer pro, CM explorer, gallery, Quickpic, you name it). Both devices were connected directly and all that blah blah...
What gives? Someone else experienced this?
Any advice, aside factory reset, to make it appear again?
Thanks.

You'll have to use a third party app for that.
~noob (you gotta start from somewhere)
I recall using it without third party app last time around, which was 3-4 months ago... I'm still on CM11S, so whatever is going on around CM12S etc, is a mystery to me and might not apply.
Someone knows where share intents are stored?

Oh, okay. I haven't used CM11S for a while now, so maybe it was there. I don't know. All I know is that it's not on CM13.0 either.

NVM, I started using SuperBeam, at least it works nicely with any transfer
Hey everyone, im always caught up trying to help old people with their phone. I feel like UI are designed to be unusable for logical people or those unfamiliar with the main function of everything being so discrete in view its effectively hidden or for first time users is represented By a sometimes unstandardized iconography. Anyway... can you help me out. One of the main issues is how every app opens to what you were doing last time pressing the icon. 90% of the time this is infuriating and gets older people lost. They usually have a different reason each time to use any app or access any feature, so going back to where they were last time makes the process of using their phone always different and unpredictable if they cant remember the fuk.. so every button press effectively dumps them somewhere different. They dont have a picture of order in their mind like me of what they will find a step back as the are often just stumbling forward. So the back button is confusing in general and home takes them right out and any app takes them right back to 4 steps ahead. Is there an over riding setting to make every app, even settings, messages anything and everything... when pressing the icon it starts fresh step 1. Probably better on RAM too. It has to exist or a front end dev needs stranglature. THANKS!
Elder people should use a phone with /e/OS pre-installed.
