What if we told the GPS our coordinates? Or the city the phone is in?

I have a Verizon XV6900 with unlimited data connection and I have the gps enabled with Google Maps (cannot seem to get it to work with TomTom)(any suggestions would be appriciated).
Anyways, my wife has a ATT Tilt with no data plan. Her gps works fine so is there a way or software where we can see each other's gps locations without her having a data connection?
Thanks
Kevin
Any GPS software with bundled maps don't require any data connection (tomtom/igo).
Google maps does not bundle any map, so it has to cross check your gps location, and download the map for that location.
Hi all
I am having some weird problem with Google Map
when i use data plan provided by Maxis (my telco) the location that it shows is a few kilometers away from my actual position.
when i turn off the data usage and use my Wifi to open the google maps, it shows that i am off by 40m from my actual position
anyone got any idea what is causing the problem?
Sounds like your telco's not very good at finding your precise location.
I think wifi would always be more accurate. Wifi hotspots don't have much range, and there are a lot more of them than cell towers, so it's easier to know that you're within 40m of Starbucks WiFi #3828 than a particular cell tower.
In my home, with WiFi off and GPS off, the cell towers here usually report me a few blocks away from my house. With WiFi on, it puts me in my own backyard. With GPS on, it puts me in the correct room of the house.

How to accurate location friend on map latitude??
There are a lot of settings for location, and I'm not sure what each one does . Can someone explain them to me please, and what each one would be needed for?
Here's a very in depth explanation, hope it helps

Credit to torgo on the Verizon wireless forum:
1. VZW Location Services: *Uses Verizon cell towers to triangulate your position, pretty accurate.
2. GPS: *Uses GPS satellites, should be most accurate but in my experience isn't very reliable unless you're outside.
3. Google Location Services: *Uses a combination of IP address and wi-fi access points to determine your location. *Least accurate, but usually reasonably close

The Google location access toggle is to allow Google apps to access the information provided by location services (so things like maps and navigation work).
