[Q] 4ext recovery update - HTC Sensation

Hi, 4EXT Recovery Updater( I used it for setting ) offers me a new version of 4EXT recovery, should i flash it, or it will ****up my phone?

Nah you'll be fine flashing it. You can check the known bugs but there shouldn't be any. Running the latest version now and it's all good
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium

Thanks, I want just be sure before flashing it.

I always update to their latest versions. It's all good never had trouble even with test builds
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium

The new versions are well tested so should be no problem!

I am always up to date with 4ext and it works very well. Never had problems with it.

me too.never have any problems with updating

4EXT recovery touch v.1.0.0.5 RC9 build:40 it say's highlighted in red and says testing? shall i download and update RC9 OR RC8? currently i am on RC7...

Since I'm cautious, I installed RC8. But in general, also the test build should be ok. You can check the mentioned bugs/errors and then decide if you want it or not.

Who is your service provider? You could maybe double check it with them if they released the ICS update at all. (they should have though... ) You could maybe reboot your device I give it a try again? Somebody more clever might help you out...

built in updater is the same I told you.
edit2:
And one more thing! You could also have a look in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425 It is about RUU (Rom Update Utility). By using these you can update your device but you need to choose the right RUU for your device. Use this if you cannot get anywhere with your provider...

The answer is written in the thread I gave you and set up by kgs1992. Read all that stuff just to make sure you are familiar with that you are going to do. :good:
Just be sure you're connected to wifi and check for updates, it will prompt you to install the latest software available for your phone and region
Yes. When you tap on the check now button, a window will appear where it tells you what you are going to download. And It's better to be connected to WiFi as it will download a bigger amount of update.

[Q] A pending update to your boot partition has been detected - 4EXT

Good day to All,
I Need Help.
Intro,
My Phone is Sensation 4G S-Off, HBoot 1.27.110, Firmware 3.33 Universal.
Rom being Used is ViperS 1.41.
What Happened,
I was flashing a different kernel (that I used before multiple times) and my problem started,
The Problem,
The Phone starts, HTC Logo (behind a white background) and after less than a minute it shuts down.
I can access 4EXT Recovery normally after seeing a notification message stating ("A pending update to your boot partition has been detected") and after I click through it I can access 4EXT normally.
What did I do,
Tried flashing multiple kernels, Multiple Roms, restored Multiple Backups and still the same thing. HTC Logo and it shuts down, and if the phone is plugged in to the power it will keep boot looping.
I would highly appreciate some input as I can't use my phone what so ever.
Turn SmartFlash off as you have no need of it (you are S-OFF)

Try running an RUU
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda premium
Same setup as OP
S-off' hboot- 1.27
After flashing a kernel, and selecting reboot now, a message appeared about pending update detected. After reboot, will not pass HTC logo.
I've tried different kernel, roms, and backups, and still nothing.
This happened after flashing Sultan-kernel rc4 1512ghz. My phone booted before at higher ghz so I don't believe that's the issue.
Edit: Flashed different ruu, now hboot 1.29 s-off, still same issue.
Thanks for any help possible.

yeah i saw your posts in 4ext recovery thread
glad for you man:good:
Whenever I had this problem happen to me I flashed the boot.img file from the ROM I was using through fastboot then everything worked. Might save you some time next time something like this happens (happened to me a lot when I was S-on using 4ext) because you won't have to wipe everything and reinstall your ROM.

Most popular recovery?

4ext ftw.
Wysłane z mojego HTC Sensation Z710e
TWRP. Fastest and most bug-free recovery for me. (on the downside you need S-off to install kernels with it)
most users are using 4ext
if i am not wrong
4ext is my choice and many others choice also. It's easy to use and has great options.

For some reason, 4ext was really buggy and laggy for me so I decided to S-off and install TWRP

I use 4ext on my phone and TWRP on my tablet, and I like both of them.
I use 4EXT Touch Recovery
First flash CMW and then flash 4EXT THE BEST
CWM no contest
4ext from day 1. Hasn't failed me yet. I keep it updated too.
4ext
I think 4ext is the most widely used recovery. SmartFlash makes it stand out.

[Q] Requirements to update from ICS to JB ?

Hi,
I got this Sensation XE that I was dealing with today, I unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP Recovery, because the 4EXT did not want to load after I installed it numerous times. I now Installed ViperS 1.6 on it, which is ICS 4.0.4.
My question is, what are the requirements to Install a JB rom on it?, do I just flash it and it will work? do I need to change HBOOT or something?, flash an JB Kernel??? what do I do?
Thank you

Are you S-On? Did you flashed ViperS ICS with TWRP recovery? I'll still recommend you to flash 4EXT recovery if you're S On. Try downloading recovery.img from some other link and check MD5.
For JB ROM you just need 3.32 or 3.33 firmware and you're good to go for JB. Just flash the ROM from recovery just like you did for ViperS ICS.

Yes I am S-ON.
My version of firmware (if I am correct) is: 3.33.705.151. But I am on ICS. The original Rom that was on the phone befire I installed vipers was 4.0.3
So.. if it is 3.33, I can just flash JB?? ?
Thanks

By the way, if anyone shall have this issue with 4EXT and will look in here, the problem is with the file on the ALL IN 1 TOOLKIT for SENSATION.
The solution is to download 4EXT from the main site (install APK on phone, then install it from there, or from Bootloader.) - Just good "4EXT"

Recovery or ROM bug?

Good afternoon. I need a help to fix the following problem.
Recently I've got S-OFF and Root for my HTC Sensation XE using this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661631
After this I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459369 to get SuperCID
Than I installed the latest CWM for my phone.
Finally, I flashed [ROM] CM-10.1 AOSP 4.2.2 Jellybean [KANG] [Aug-6] .
But after flashed ROM without error and rebooted my phone it still loaded a rom instead of CyanogenMod. Then I re-installed it, removed battery, and loaded the phone at it was working. Now I have interesting but: when my phone charging and I shutdown it, my sensation after shutdown automatically loads CWM Recovery Menu
How can I fix it?
up!
First load of cyanogenmod was taking soo long it about 5-6 minutes..
I think you need to reinstall cwm recovery, if the problem still on
