Rogers s2 LTE?

Sorry to bother anyone, hate asking questions cause I always get people making me feel stupid for asking.
Anyways, I am on rogers with a Samsung s2 lte. I some how made did a root and flash, I'm running space pirate.
Was just wondering if I can choose any rom for an s2 or does it have to be rogers s2?
Any help well be greatly appreciated

I think u can choose any rom from this section( skyrocket) since they are exactly same phone. Also you can flash the T-Mobile version too by using conversion pack

All the roms made for the skyrocket will work on the rogers one, but you should be flashing a rom built using the rogers rom. I've been using TPC V3 Rogers based and its been working quite well.

Tpc v3? I stumbled around and got space pirate on my rogers. It doesn't have the r at the end anymore, so far its been running fine

Blindeye, you should be able to flash any rom in the DEV section. Although I will just give you a heads up that there will from time to time be AT&T items loaded into your phone. So far Ive had a small handful of AT&T contact numbers added into my contacts. BUT so far I have only flashed a single rom that has faux kernel built into it. (Sky Ice Cream Sandwich) by Seanzscreams.

Am new to the flashing world, I've done it twice with cyanogenmod on captivate and space pirate on s2 rogers. Worked fine but still get nervous when doing it... ha.
Am now attempting a dell streak which has like a 20 different ways to get a custom, trying not to pull my hair out and going cross eyed from reading so much forums... ha.
Thanks for the responses, I wanna try another one, was thinking tpc or an ics one.
No problems yet on the space pirate. Just now my cell reads sghi727 instead of sghi727r, only thing I've noticed.

Wow, there is a lot to read! What are u running on ur s2? Was thinking about trying another but I dunno, this space pirate is running pretty good.
Was gonna try and play with the dell streak, but the instructions are a nightmare. They say to use fastboot then they say not to use fastboot... ha.

You can just try to flash all kind of roms from the development section. I am currently using ics rom but mixing different theme for myself. You can't really say which rom is better, it is all depend your taste.
I also have the dell streak 7 too. Actually it wasn't really that hard to flash rom. It is just a bit more work than samsung(you know...all samsung phones are like flashing machine XD)

Just a suggestion faux123 kernel runs best with really good battery life and it will go with any rom except cm7 or MIUI they have their own kernel and da_g has the kernel.

Flashing just the kernel? Was thinking about trying out the tpc for rogers, downloaded it and its like 400 MB, that's big isn't it? Isn't really any instructions so I assume I just do it through clockwork mod, dunno if I have to wipe anything, didn't see any exact instructions.
As well is there a place I can find a rogers stock rom to put back the way it was? Also can I just use clockwork?
Any help well be greatly appreciated, as I'm still Leary of flashing and stuff... ha

Yes flash tpcV3 and don't flash faux123's kernel because the combo that tpc has for you guys is best with amazing battery life. And when you are noob that's when my guide comes handy so here it is on how to flash rom.

Thanks for the info, I think it well be awhile b4 I can get use to flashing. I flashed the crap out of my dell streak, but the 4 roms I tried all had troubles with creating a hotspot to share my data. I just put it back to stock. Yet when it comes to my s2 I get really nervous... ha

[Q] Developers needed for ROM build feedback.

First thing I am sorry if I posted this information the wrong section but this is kinda Q&A
I need help Devs or anyone with a strong knowledge in building roms. Now I'm gonna be very clear I'm more then likely 75% noob when it comes to building roms but I am learning thru trial and error. And every First time dev has a learning curve.
What this thread for I built my first custom ROM and i need some feedback in regards to what the heck im doing wrong.I started using the android kitchen is xda INSTALL Cygwin was fine and all first time preps and tools I believe is all set.

Now so far I have built a rom 3 different versions V1 install was fine all packages came up on got some FCs and freezing and root wouldnt allow access even though SU was present. but the phone was completely functional aside of that.

This time I went in and made mods the android kitchen completely normal su, busy box, all the same however this time I made changes However i did make some BP mods(build prop) and almost every ROM in xda has such as speed tweaks response etc. This time I added a custom boot animation and audio.I also Added a few apks to data/app. This time after flash was done in got the custom boot logo and custom boot audio however I was stuck for 30 min at custom boot. So reset re flash cache fact reset system data cache format with dalvik still nogo.(in other words still a Nogo)

Now this scenario android Kitchen had everything installed except for wipe ROm, Now this time i added the same apks a new custom boot animation/audio But this time i cut down on a few of the build Prop tweaks. and made a few change on the sounds folder and notification/alarms etc. Now i went back into cwm flash as normal- format system,data,cache wipe Fact Reset cache and dalvik again. install was completely fine. went in t reboot device I got the Boot animation/Sound took about 5 minutes then i got the soft keys now me thinking it was gonna go to the main screen it didnt it stayed at the boot animation for another 30min did a Battery reset. soon after comes a flicker onthe screen and then a paper weight phone... it wont boot light up i get nothin. now when i plug it in to get something thru PC I only get "qhsusb_dload" which i know means DEAD/ASTA LA BEASTA/Corpse. i know it requires Jtag to fix im cool with that.
what im trying to accomplish here is some good feedback to anyone who willing to help me learn from my mistakes or can atleast point me in a good directionand places to read etc.
I have channel logs of what mods i made to BP and i have actuall builds of this rom i tried to make. if there is anyone at willing to attempt to atleast have a look at the rom build NOT FLASH cuz i would hate for you to break your phone but atleast Look at what i change and see if there is something i shouldnt of done i would really appreciate it.
If you would like to look at the build and give me some constructive feedback please PM so far i have exhausted all my sources i would really like some feedback.

Also, I don't think the kitchen is compatible with ICS/JB. Works great with the gingerbread. I'm not sure what you did, usually hard bricks on this device are kernel related. Oh and ditch the kitchen k:thumbup:

I have chanel logs already generate but im not home to upload them one thing i dont want to do is have a 100% noob flash these files and brick there device. if you want tonight i can sent you the zip and a detailed channel log of what was done

Thank you both i will send you the data tonight and just give me feedback when u have chance its not a super priority since Beta galaxy is in Brick City but i have another beta coming soon lol

shep if we can find wth im doing wrong ill will fix right away and flash again I just got 2 more beta galaxies and you said move away from Android kitchen to you have any good. Reference to help me move away from it. Remember 75% noob such as setting up work station etc

You asked about updating and what the mounts should look like. If you are aready rooted and using CWM then just skip to the part that explains wiping and installing.

2 you didn't read anything because if you did you would have easily found the answer

And just to proove I'm not being a total ****
You can switch to any Rom from a custom Rom as long as the firmware base is the same.
Always wipe all data and cache factory reset before flashing a new Rom unless specified in the Rom that there is no wipe needed.
Never restore data with titanium backup when changing Roma it can cause conflicts and crashes.

i mean safe as in i wont brick it because i did brick it before with my old one and i really dont want to brick it again
so i did back up my data with titanium but are you saying i shouldnt restore it

If your using the same Rom restoring data is fine but if its a different Rom just restore apps with no data

As someone said lady GET AN I PHONE! I have never told someone that ,but I've never come across someone so unsuited to a rooted phone.
You are driving pple crazy who are trying to help !!!!
Custom roms are not for everyone. You can't expect others to read your mind ,or answer every single tiny point. Go and learn. Go and find info. It takes time and effort to pick the skills up. Its not hard but you have to put the effort in if you expect others to spend time helping you !

Roms are like clothes for our phones. You dress according to the enviorment in which you will be around. We canot tell you what combintion is the best. It totaly depends on you. Invest time in finding out what rom offers you what you need. Honestly... in my own personal opinion, there is no rom besides glorious overdose that worth installing. Half of what the other roms offer cause glitches in the rom.. and are themed... something you can do yourself. I appreciate the work done on this phone and to the devs currently deving for this phone, kudos. Let's go byond the "impossible" and make this phone a bit more exciting. Cause deving isn't for fame. Its for the thrill of having the chance to creat something someone somewhere will enjoy.

At this time last year, I was anxiously awaiting GOV. There were others but I only trusted ayoteddy at the time. After some time, I tried others and always went back to GOV.
I do these roms because after using root uninstaller to customize it my way, I figured that I should learn how to do this myself.
My roms will never be like GOV....it is perfection. I just do this to occupy my time. I am a recovering alcoholic and this has been sort of like a hobby for me.
My list of fave roms include GOV, GenericGinger, ICS Domination, Clean Fusion (Although now it cannot play YouTube within the web browser) and TouchMIUIwiz.

Help please, quickly

I have a short time before my dad goes back to florida, I gave him my old captivate that I haven't touched in a year that I setup for him on Straight talk. The fone is not rooted or hacked in anyway. Here's what I need to do before he leaves.
I need to root it for starters
I need to enable wifi hotspot for him
but heres the catch. I need it to stay on a somewhat stock ROM because that's what he's used to and he'll be 1900 miles away and I won't be able to help with his little issues of "how do I do this"
Please Help
This is all stuff I had done before I gave it to him and my brain is completely overloaded trying to read up on the captivate now.

Need more info from u.. What Stock is the phone runnin, etc.
I recommend Stock GB 2.3.5 i897ucKK4. And u can use Odin to flash the KK4 Corn Kernel v7.0A that has CWM Recovery that u can get Root through. Then just use Titanium Backup to remove or freeze all of the bloatware. Should be good after that.

Any thought of using a Team Alliance rom? They are all based off official Samsung firmware. Very stock look to them, but perform much better.

This is the ROM I installed before I gave it to him, I actually tried letting him use CM but that was a nogo

I haven't looked much into the captivate roms in close to a year. I have just a matter of a couple days to get this done. My dad is 78 years old and to a small extent technologically handicapped. He does well enough to browse the web, check emails and send texts, so if there was a bug or an issue (which most custom rom's carry) that popped up while he was away this winter I wouldn't be close to reflash or help him walk through it. I have been reading and I am going to try the first suggestion. Although wouldn't I just be able to remove all bloatware and the tethermanager.apk with root explorer. I need this to be as problem free for him as possible. I did have him install FoxFI to use which seems to be OK but I never trusted any of those type apps. I would much rather him use the native tethering (better encryption from what I see) Which he really only wants it to do emails and a few other miniscule task over the web.

Glad u still got some time to work with this for your dad.
And yep...Root Explorer will do the trick as well.

Possible to add cwm after SGT2 7.0 already rooted?

Probably one of the noobist questions to start off with but I need the answer or pointed in the right direction if at all possible, many many thanks in advance.
As you can see by the tittle i already have my galaxy tab 2 7.0 rooted (3113) and totally blanked on rooting with cwm. So how can I do it without having to restart the root process all over again?

I used mobile Odin to flash the cwm zip back. That worked for me.

Mobile Odin will work... However you'll want to run it in odin and flash CWM.
No you don't have to start the root process over again. I am assuming your stock rooted?

You can go for CM10.1..But I personally like stock..So rooted with unbloated Stock.

I kept reading that stock is best still for maintaining gaming levels (gaming usually pushes a system to its limits more so that anything else). I only just got my sgt2 so im in no rush. Yet

Just downloaded ICS from sam mobile yesterday and I'm reinstalling it tomorrow. Yea I am sick of swapping out roms constantly. I have the JB rom downloaded also in case I decide to reinstall it in the future

From what I've read IR Blaster is only working on select ROMs. Dunno if that's important to you.
