Curious. PSX4Droid. - T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

So I've been playing some old games of mine on my SK, through psx4droid. Yes I have the original copies so no worries. But I've come to notice that I can only use up to 2 hard keys at once? I play Twisted Metal, but I can't turn and shoot while driving at the same time. Is there a way to fix this, or is this a hardware limitation on the Sidekick 4g's keyboard? Any info would be appreciated (and I think this is in the right section for a post, I appologize if not :\ )

Yes, only 2 keypresses can be detected at once. No, there's no fix for this. Many threads about many phones with same problem here on XDA. Makes me sad too...

Damn, not what I was hoping to hear. That blows :\ thank you for the reply though.
I wonder if there ever will be a fix. Hmm...

Personally I use a PS3 controller using the sixaxis driver. It's very cheap and works great. Plus the author is here on XDA.

Well... I can't always have a PS3 controller with me. That would be a bit geeky

Still, its kind of a reasonable workaround could be worse haha.
And you have a full set of controls

I remember reading something on XDA front page a few months back about a phone that was able to fix the 2 button limit. Forgive my bad memory, but all I can remember about the problem/fix is that it used the term ghost something.
Either way, it was an exciting new development on an upcoming phone back then - definitely after the time of SK4G. 6 axis + TV out.

Sorry, I thought that was part of the original thread. I am pretty sure it's possible by the same basic principle being that when you go into CWM recovery and voodoo recovery they both remap the power button. I'll see if I can find the file and post back.
Thanks! And this would be only during the camera mode?
Now I remember, there is a program that does this for you called Button Remapper. It is located in the Market as a pay app or in these forums at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464 Unfortunately, our phone is only partially supported and you can only remap the soft keys.
Sorry to bring bad news. Hopefully this will change in future updates.
Well that's no good! Lol. I hope that some progress can be made with this.

US Cellular is 6 months behind everyone else because they test their phones 6 months longer than everyone else.
I would rather have the phones late and have them work then have them early and be recalled and/or lots of issues.
That's true - which reminds me that my friend had to un-root his droid x to download an official update for some bugfixes. I'd rather have a stable phone with no issues and a network reception

Really it's a great place to work, but we do test the heck out of stuff. It can seem ridiculous, but there's method to the madness I suppose.
Somebody please update this thread if you find a way to do this.

There is something to be said for quality testing and also for dragging your feet and in my opinion I am leaning more to dragging your feet, this phone has been out for awhile and there is not that many software differences from the Fasinate so I think its USCCs answer to "were testing for your saftey" does not = horrible crash if we dont test it, and does = to we dont have froyo yet....lol

Samsung is known for being lax in getting out updates, also. If Samsung gets it to us late, we can't test it any earlier than they get it to us. Yes we are slow to test, but often have the least buggy releases. Fascinate's froyo had bugs and had to be sent back. They still don't have it. We use the same base... Just sayin.

Favor please

why are people so concerned about Gingerbread? I bet at least half of the people who kept asking for Gingerbread does not even know why they wanted it. I'd like to see what is the main reason people need it. I understand it's the latest version and it got some cool features but does it really affect the phone that much? I'd rather ask LG to fix some of the issues they have now rather than the Gingerbread... just my 2 cents...
I thought the wordage (yes I did) of my tweet would display the humor in was going for. Now I did mean it don't let the smooth taste fool ya. But you guys are so he'll bent on making people feel stupid you didn't even notice it.
I didn't start this thread for scrubs to come in and flame. I want Gingerbread for the same reason I buy a new phone every 2-3 months. Because it's new. I know how to root my phone, I have every ROM stored on my phone so I can play with it in my spare time, but what's wrong with wanting an official update?
And don't you think an official update would come with bug fixes?
This forum has gone to ****, you ****ers need to get off your high horses and chill out. =D
But if you want a list.
Improved UI
Improved power management
Improved copy/paste
Those are the features I want. Keyboard seems nice too but I can download that now.
Anyways thanks for taking your time to try and ruin my day, but you failed.

The answer to your question is obvious. The answer to mine is not quite as clear now, is it? Your question in no way even mirrors mine. Not even as a smart ass attempt at humor. It's not clever, nor does it reflect any proposed "flaw" in my question. I bet you'd have a very tough time explaining how your question functions as a response to mine. I'd like to see you try.
Anyway, Samsung left a track pad out of the design of this phone, making a soft keyboard the only way to arrow up, down, left and right. They also chose not to have the keyboard pop up when long-pressing the menu key, which is a double slap in the face.
Just about every Android phone out there will pop up the soft keyboard when the menu key is held down. Not this beaut. So does anyone have a solution?

That Awesome Force Close Is Back!

Well, I finally did it - back to stock. Just had too many issues with the roms, although they were super fun.
I thought, "Well the stock Froyo didn't have any issues from what I remember..."
Except all the force closes. It's amazing. I remember now how bad it was.
And yes, I'm rooted.
What can I do to fix these? These random force closes are brutal. Other people must be dealing with this.
Thanks!
Unroot, and just run. It sucks, im forced on it until i trade mine in. Trust me, it gets soo laggy makes the phone look like its a piece of junk. Im trying to get out of this brutal life to go to some *ahem* delicious snack builds.

First of all, THANKS for the reply.
I'm wondering if this is a Titanium Backup issue. I get a TON of single vibrate than three-vibrate signals followed by a mobile manager close (or other force close). I always use TB to reinstall my apps after a rom flash. I only do app reinstall (not app + data)
But the one-vibrate followed by three-vibrate, that happens all the time.
Just like the first responder said, the lag is INSANE even on stock froyo and the force closes are frustrating.
Should I re-go back to stock and just never use TB and install all apps manually? Or is there a way to figure this out? Because if so, I can shoot back up to a nice ICS build.
THANK you!!!
I use TB regularly... best $$ for an app I spent...if your just gonna settle for stock why not go with qkster one clicker... to stock ?
I backup and restore regularly no prob...

Please don't assume anything. As someone who had a computer repair business, I can attest to the fact that sometimes hardware just doesn't play nice no matter what you do. Or are you one of those people that think hardware can never be at fault?
My phone had the same issues with any rom I tried. And no, I wasn't doing anything wrong. I tried installing from rooted stock, did all the wipes and formatting, but every time it eventually became glitchy. So far, stock works fine for me, so I'm sticking with it. There's obviously something about my hardware that doesn't agree with the updated kernel/software.
Samsung made millions of these phones. Do really believe that every single one will work perfectly with software that wasn't intended for it in the first place?
Short answer, no. Everyone was just trying to help. We see a ton of these threads saying there is a problem only to find out someone made a mistake or skipped a step.

When someone goes around saying it's definitely this or definitely that, yeah, I have a problem with it. You're implying that there's no chance of it being hardware related. That right there shows how much you really know.
Btw genius, my phone never ran 100% perfect from the start. I suppose that was my fault because I took it out of the box wrong?

Hi guys - no, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be running GB or ICS without the force close issues.
Maybe my second post got lost among the, ahem, spirited debate but I would love some assistance.
I'm 99.9% sure I reflashed back to stock correctly. Then all I did was a recovery with TB (app only, no data). I've read elsewhere this could be the culprit.
Any ideas? This force close and lag thing is driving me nuts. Plus it hinders any roms I flash for GB or ICS.
Thank you in advance!

Disabling Phone Features to make a Cappy into a Audio/Video/Game/GPS only unit...

I've tried a bit of searching and while there are a few threads about how to disable phone features, there is no discussion of anyone making a specific ROM that would that would focus the Captivate (or any Galaxy S I suppose) into a Media Player device. No idea how hard that would be and whether it would be as easy as taking an existing ROM and just rearranging and deleting the phone stuff.
Seems that with ICS being designed to work as both a Tablet and Phone OS, you could accomplish this with relative ease. I'm not a coder or ROM developer though, so I could be completely wrong on that too.
At the very least, the battery life would almost certainly increase if the phone never even tried to use the antenna or look for cell service. Seems like it might run smoother too and processing emphasis could be rearranged.
Any thoughts?
Here ya go... Captivate Touch
