[Q] flashing kernel

Dear Sir
I am new to this forum.I have rooted my SGSII & install ICS 4.0.4.Then i installed aokp jelly bean, slimTW 5 jelly bean & now i am using slim thunderTW5.while installing slim thunderTW5, as per instruction i first flash slim thunderTW5 rom, then google application & siyah kernel.
Now it is working fine with no issue.
My question is if i want to try other rom (eg. cm rom or again aokp or slim TW5 jelly bean or any rom), do i have to simply follow flashing instruction as provided or flash new kernel.
Can i flash any rom with this kernel ?([email protected]#49)
Earlier in ics 4.0.4, aokp jelly bean, slimTW5 jelly bean i did not require to flash any new kernel.
Sorry for bad english
Thank you in advance.

Most new rooms come with a kernel ready for flashing. I have personally used siyah for most of the rooms I have ever tried with my SII as I rally like the speed features and battery life and regardless of the from you are using you can flash any kerenl as long as it matches the O.S. i.e. JB or ICS etc

You can always try any ROM by itself and see if it boots & how you like it. Then you can go back to recovery & flash your kernel afterwards. As long as you have a nandroid backup, try flashing stuff & see how it works. If you can't get it working again, just restore your nandroid.
flashin kernel
got it
ya nandroid backup is good idea before flashing any new rom

Jelly Bean P3110 Camera question

Hi people,
I have using the custom roms with my P3110 for a long time with JB, but with the iminence of the now released stock rom from Samsung I roll back to stock 4.0.4 version last week and will update to take a look. One think I like with 4.0.4 camera is the absent of video timelapse function. Will this new 4.1 version come with? Does some one already have tested?
You people with 3113 or 3100 and Jelly Bean can confirm that?
Thank You
Kfir-br
I just updated to JB 4.1.1 Samsung Stock ROM. The camera app is essentially the same
I am trying now to install the 4.1.1 camera application and for that I am going to install the Gallery2.apk. The new Gallery and Camera app shows up but such what occurs when trying to use the 4.2 cam app with 4.1.2 the camera app FC just after load. I guess that framework part could be the same, but not... Tried to clean cache and data no success.
Something I am missing?

[Q] Stock Vanilla Jelly Bean

I am switching from a nexus to an S3. my wife has an s3 and I can't stand touchwiz. I know there are some roms built to be similar to the stock jb on my nexus, but is there any way to get the official ota stock/vanilla jelly bean on my s3? Basically I want to know if I can make my s3 like my nexus, without having to worry about using a possibly unstable launcher or rom? Thanks ahead of time.
stock ota jellybean is touchwiz on the s3. Samsung doesn't offer anything else.
If you want aosp (vanilla android without carrier BS) it's nexus or nothing.
The only way to get vanilla android on anything else is to build it yourself or hope someone else has.
If you want a vanilla android experience on your GS3 on the stock rom you could try a different launcher, such as Apex or Nova Launcher, as they are closer to the stock Jelly Bean launcher than the Touchwiz launcher. If you are comfortable with rooting you could install Cyanogenmod, which is AOSP Jelly Bean with a few useful tweaks. There is a stable version of Cyanogenmod 10, which is android 4.1.2 that you could try, or there are nightly builds of Cyanogenmod 10.1, which are based off of the newer android 4.2, but are not entirely stable.
There's a stock AOSP ROM in the Original Development section. Has some issues but Joelz is getting everything smoothed out.

[Q] Stock 4.2.2 ROM like S4

Is there any stock ROM that is jelly bean 4.2.2 that is basically completely stock or close enough to it that is just as the S4? The different look of the settings and notification bar etc. is just appealing. So anyone know of any of these ROMs?

There isn't a touchwiz 4.2.2 yet for the s3. Itis the international S3 not the US S3 that was leaked for.
Aww thanks anyway

I've properly packaged the latest Google Camera and it's confirmed to work with JellyBean 4.2.2 and later.
This is the thread I've documented my mod: Latest GoogleCamera 2.4.024 (Dec 2014) tweaked to run on JB 4.3, well the subject is a bit misleading since my device is running JB 4.3, but people replied back that they can run it on JB 4.2.2.
