Sd card issue!

Hi I'm having trouble getting my phone to read the sd card. When I put it in it says safe to remove sd but apart from that the phone doesnt even register that the card is in? I have had the sd card in my laptop for a while but formatted it first. I have a friend and its the same for his android but the 2gb he got with his phone works fine. Is there some sort of file structure that has to be on the sd for the phone to pick it up? Really need help thanks.

No special structure i would fully format the card as fat 32 not quick format .

Ok thanks for the reply. Also read that formatting in recovery mode could work? That was for a diff phone though with the same problem

SD Card Issues

I bought a new 32 gig sd card, I copied the filed on my existing card to a folder on my computer then transferred it to my 32 gig sd card. When I try flashing a rom from my new card it doesn't go thru, if I try flash it from my old sd it go thru fine.
What is happening or what am I doing wrong ?

What is the manufacturer and speed of the card and where did you buy it from?

Its a Sandisk 32 gb SD card. I bought it online cant remember exactly where right now.

What file format did you use to format it?

Not sure I used the formatter in the link above. Is there a specific format and formatter I need to use?

Yeah, I'd like to know as well... I have an 8g card and I did a 512 ext and the rest Fat32... do I need to set the ext partition to ext3 or will that happen automatically depending on the rom...

Okay guys I need to figure this out so here goes again:
I just bought a 32gb scan disk SD card to replace a 8gb I had. When I try flashing a ROM or rebooting in recovery with the 32gb card in the phone it gets stuck on that black screen with the android logo and the triangle. If I use my 8 gb card everything proceeds smoothly. I have formatted it but I get the same result.
Can any one tell me how to fix this problem?

Do you have a card reader on your computer? I had a similar issue when I was using the "quick format" option in windows. Once I did the longer version it worked fine.

External SD

Hi, yerterday i`ve tooked off my external sd with the phone on.
Today i`ve rebooted but the external don`t mount anymore!
When i`ve put the microsd into my external modem it works!
when i go into CWM ant try to mount the ext sd appears the message:
"E:unknown volume for patch [/sd-ext]
error mounting /sd-ext"
What i have to do?

The sd-ext in CWM actually isn't what you're thinking it is. In CWM, SD-EXT is referring to one specific folder on the external SD card, not the whole card, and if that file isn't there, it throws up that error.
If you can see your external card by putting it in an adapter and hooking it up to your computer, I'd suggest moving everything off the card and onto your computer, formatting the card (FAT32, I believe), and then putting it back into your phone.
See if that helps.

The ext-sd didn't apears, even, at the configuration menu.
When i connect the celphone to the computers, appears only theo original sd.
I'tryed a friends sd, but it don't read to.
I thinking that is a hardware issue.
What could i do?

I'm not sure how drastic you want to get, but if it's not reading any external microSD cards, you could back up everything on your phone, then flash back to stock and do a master clear. That might set right whatever is messing up. If that doesn't fix it, you might have a hardware issue on your hands.

I think I have the same issue. Sometimes it randomly pops up saying "blank SD card" or "damaged SD card" message. And I have to reboot to get the card to work again. And it may fail randomly later. :/

Do you have an adapter for the MicroSD that you could use to put it into your computer (outside of the phone) to test and make sure it's good?

I experienced the same erratic behavior with a new 16gig class 4 SanDisk. But, my 8gig class 4 SanDisk works perfectly. I'm running MIUI,btw. When I flash back to stock kf1, they both work perfectly.

32gb sd card

Hi guys im having an issue with a 32gb Kingston sd card, whats happening is that everytime i add files to my sd card from my computer it will show them to me that they are there. But once i put the sd card in my phone the new files i transfer wont appear :/. Ive formatted my sd card already like couple times and still does the same. Never did that to my 8gb card, and top of that when i transfer all my data from the 8gb to the 32 only half transferd and when back n fourth doing it folder per folder and just wouldnt show anything on the phone. Any suggestions, thank you

Going to take a guess and say you're on CM? If so I had problems with my 32GB too but on stock roms it works. I had to get a 16GB to use under CM. I'm not sure of the problem but there was my fix

Are you rebooting the phone after putting back the microsd? Sometimes that works.

As matter fact havent tried on Cm, im on MIUI right now. But im giving it one more try with the formatting see what happens if not will go to Eagle Blood see how that goes.

Yeah im since i noticed my sd card wouldnt show up unless would have to reboot. some files have been transfering but like awhile ago i d-loaded the files that needed for the game Modern combat 2 and after finished i rebooted or just quit playing and tried playing again and have to be redowloading the files over and over again since nothing stays on my sd card :/

That sucks, sounds like a bad sdcard. You still got the receipt?
I got my 32gb lexar class 10 with USB SD reader for just under 50 and its been issue free. Never liked Kingston products.

Tried formatting it using the phone itself? Miui is based off cm7 so that could be the issue as well.

Won't let me format it from phone since as soon as I put it in tells me "safely to remove card now" so kinda like automatically ejectects itself when I put it in. N got another problem :/ I bitlocked the sd card in my windows 7 laptop and as I was transferring files my wire was loose and we'll lost the connection and of course gave me files transfer error. But the problem now is that since I bitlocked the sd card won't let me get in it anymore, even though i put my password I put for the sd card. Just says something error with files and blah blah ;/. Can't even format or or anything anymore ;/

Found the solution for this problem with the bit locker > I mounted my sd card on my xp SP3 and formatted it and gave me the ize of 514mb i was like what. But i still did it and when i mounted it on my windows 7 i formatted again and this time showed me the 32gb size . So now its working properly.yeah buddy.

Moving from Weapon X to Miui rom my sdcard was detected fine but then after a couple of days of using Miui I wasn't able to open up sdcard when connected to my pc. It shown that usb is detected on my phone.
It only work when I restore back to WeaponX. I tried flashing different Miui roms, EagleBlood and PhoenixBlood. None detect my sdcard on pc except for WeaponX. I also tried to format my sdcard. Didn't work.
Anyone got any suggestion??

Try reinstalling ure usb drivers or not just restart the computer that would help with me. Or have you tried it with a card adapter?

If you've tried it both with the USB cord and with an sd card reader, it might just be a bad sd card. This happened to me with a Samsung 16gb. I couldnt add or delete anything on it. Simply had to get a new sd card. Try out Lexar or PNY if you want a good one.

Another micro SD issue...please help

Rooted on beans R2. I have formatted my micro Sd card via PC with fat32. put the sd card in and everything seems fine untill I reboot phone. after reboot phone it comes up damaged SD card or empty files, plese format card.
this happens everytime I reboot my phone.
Any ideas??

I thought I read some where you're never supposed to format your SD card with your computer, it should only be through your phone.

maybe give some details about your Sdcard.
i have had some hit & misses with the lower quality SD cards available from like Microcenter or Fry's in those bulk clear cases...
also why not just boot into recovery & format the card from there & see if that works?

Its a lexar 10 class 32 gig. I didn't know you could format an SD card from recovery.
If you could give me an idea on some steps to take that would be very helpful and appreciated
