Texting from your Surface - MightyText - Microsoft Surface

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this free app since I was contemplating using Skype, but this is a waaaaay better option.

And what this has to do with Surface RT?

If you read the app description it states that once app is opened you can go to a certain URL to text from surface for free.

Just got it set up and now I can text from my surface. One thing that needs to be clarified is you need to have an android phone with texting capability. You need to have an android phone but once its set up, you can text from any browser and it uses that phone number.
Awesome - I have wanted to text from my computer.
A few thing to note - you need to set up the website as a trusted site in IE 10 on the desktop of surface and you need to add https:/ to it.
Thanks for the great app.

Yea the instructions are on the site. It's a pretty simple setup. It works great for when your phone is out of reach or if you're being lazy to reach for it.
As for Mr. What-does-this-have-to-do-with-the-Surface.. I'm just helping to add to the list of its capabilities while we deal with a limited app market. Take it or leave it.

Go easy on ctitanic...

He was a Windows Mobile app developer from the early days of Windows Mobile 6, 6.5 etc. and has a TON of cred. I used his apps and tweaks ALOT.

XDA App Development

I was wondering if there would ever be an XDA application available to android on the market. Seems like it would be pretty sweet.
Anyone else think so?
Any developers out there that would like to give this a go?
well umm, its an alright idea, but since i own a nexus, browsing http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=556 is rather easy and fast with even low 3g signal
I understand its available to view on the nexus, I have one and it does do a good job for viewing. Just thought a native app would be nice to have.
It actually came out, Congrats to XDA for this milestone
yea i just downloaded it earlier this morning
its great in concept but it takes way to long to load the thread lists.
http://www.xda-developers.com/announcements/official-xda-developers-android-app-released-today/
i am typing on the official xda app right now and it works much faster to ne on my n1 than going through the browser. its funny how android got a workable official app before winmo did
Sent from my Nexus One using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
yea I saw it on a Sig searched xda on the market and now I'm a happy camper. typing from the xda app right now
Never mind.. I was stupid for a second there.

This right here is the only reason I will not use this app. I don't need everyone knowing that I used the app to post on the site. Obviously if I posted I know about the website, and the only reason someone would use the app is if they liked xda developers, or simply wanted to post here.
So why do we need the extra notification, legal purposes? Advertisement? Credit?

Oh my gawd.. sorry for such harsh complaining without investigating. Now I will use the app, lol.
ya, i turned my off
I don't think I see the point to this. Wouldn't a mobile version of the webpage be enough for this? I certainly wouldn't want a separate app for every forum I visit.
Excellent. Worth downloading.
Wow, very nice app !!

you didn't rate the app on the marketplace before figuring this out, did you?
Is there any way to make it so that when you tap the Forums tab, that it goes to the Nexus One forum by default so we don't have to scroll through the list to find it?

Yeah no one can post a link to it on here, because it is a paid app. I tried this thing about two months ago and it has great features but it runs like crap. Also, if you find an apk, the app has a phone home verification.

This is the single biggest problem to really high quality apps coming to android.
Omg I love this I tried it out and yes I got pirated version to try it out but I am going to buy it. It's the coolest home I have ever seen. I just hope I will be able to have a little more integration with apps but this is sick.

It was bound to happen. There are torrent sites now exclusively dealin with mobile appz.

You should try Regina launcher, just as good, without the silly price tag, available free on the Android market.
If you're going to pirate apps, there is no need to announce it on xda of all places. This is simply not the community for that kind of discussion. If you like an app, support the developer by buying it. Its the best way to ensure updates and more higher-quality apps for this amazing platform.

We don't need more than one person bashing the op, least you can do if you really want to help is offer him alternatives such as Regina Launcher, or simply purchasing it. Talking down to him is just as negative as him asking for warez. Two wrongs don't make a right folks.

Well excuse my anger. I pay for every single app I have or at least get the free ones from the Amazon Appstore. So forgive me for being annoyed when people are posting about pirated apps.
However, I'm pretty sure I'm free to say whatever I like.

I understand, but do remember that your land's laws don't apply online. Nonetheless you do have freedom to whatever, however the more negative it becomes, consequences follow.
I'm simply pointing out that repeating the same thing is also equally annoying, and it's much more productive to simply state an alternative, instead of feeding fire, show it a different way out.

Slickdeals.net official app coming up!!

Slickdeals.net is coming up with official apps for iphone, ipad and android. Im excited about the android app coz I've been following sd for quite some time now. It has saved me $$ on a number of occassions thru great deals. Their forum isnt tapatalk enabled. They have a mobile version of the forum but its not great. Hope the app has most if not all of the capabilities of the website.
Anyone else excited about it?

Same here. I track a few deal sites, then when I'm looking for a particular deal I use the Google Reader search and it'll hunt through all the deal site listing for me. Pretty sweet.
I'm interested to see how Slickdeals handles an app, search functionality would be a priority for me.

I tried that for few days but rss feed takes some time and was usually late for me. By the time it showed up in g reader, the deal was either gone or too many people have used the coupon making it useless. Is it the same for you?

The app that you don't have

Some days ago I opened a topic about the most useful app that you have on your phone, but... Is there an application that you would have on your phone but you haven't found yet?
Yes there is, but I am going to learn to write it and then I will share!
If you have a great idea either make it out find someone who can and share! There is opportunity out there and we need to be bold to grab it!
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I can think of one but i need to learn to program so i can make a million dollars. And i think a lot of people would use it. I could tell you about it but then I would have to kill you.
A good (or at least decent) usenet complete client. I really miss it on my phone... iPhone users have newstap (I'm not sure about the name but it should be it) and tell everything good about it.

Omg! That's so funny! You could set a reminder on your phone to remind you to do all of that. All jokes aside, that would be pretty awesome.

WiFi kill for android

Found this a couple days while viewing a few of our wonderful miss sassybob's reviews.
So you say you're tired of your roommates sucking all the bandwidth? This app allows you to log into ANY router and kick anyone off.
All through your phone.
I've tested it and it works all too slick.
And for Pete's sake, I nor the developer of this app are responsible for trouble you might get into by using it.
Have fun and be safe!
