This same problem occurs with the Camera ZOOM FX application once you click certain buttons. This problem occurs because of its incompatibility with your phone's Kernel. It will be quite hard for me to guide you through to getting around this issue, because I'd first need to look at exactly what's going on, where the problem occurs, experimenting, and so on. Sorry! ;(

What ROM are you using? Can you link to the XDA development thread where you got it?
I had a similar problem with CyanogenMod-7.2.0-MilestoneXT720-20120506-KANG and I installed LittlePhoto. I still get some crashes, but not as bad as before. (Unfortunately, LittlePhoto also mutes my phone when it takes a picture which triggers Phone Silencer.)
To see what's actually going wrong, you can use logcat to listen to what the phone is complaining about. Info in this thread. logcat will give you error messages and callstacks for crashing programs.

[Q] Skyrocket Camera not working properly (App is freezing/crashing)

I've been having camera issues with my Skyrocket for a while now. About 1/4 the times I start up my camera app, it will display what the camera is seeing, but none of the user interface is there. No option buttons, no focus rectangle - nothing. If I try to hit the back button, it lags out for a while and will usually (after 30+ seconds) tell me that the camera app is not responding. If I hit the Home button, it takes me back home, but opening the camera app again will still show the camera's view without the UI.
If I follow this guy's suggestion, it does work.
http://david.feinzeig.com/blog/2012...galaxy-s-ii-or-other-samsung-android-devices/
However, this process is tedious and time consuming, especially if this is happening 1/4 the times I use my camera. I use my camera a lot on my phone, and this has been a huge PITA. This might just be speculation on my part, but I don't recall having this issue before rooting my phone. I was hoping that by upgrading from Seanz ICS to [4.1.2] [UCLL3] Stock Debloat it would solve my problem, but unfortunately it hasn't.
Does anyone know of a more permanent way of preventing the camera app from crashing so frequently?
I just wanted to bump this one final time to see if anyone had any suggestions for me. I still have no clue why it's failing to boot the camera's UI sometimes, but it is extremely annoying and I would appreciate any help, suggestions, or even hypotheses at this point.

return to stock with odin and see if that cures it, wipe before and after returning to stock ics, if its still a prob then its hardware failure
edit: or an app that youre installing is interfering wth the camera, or sdcard issues
Download ICS Camera from the Play Store. Works great even when stock camera isn't. I don't know why.

I'll give those a shot and see what comes of it. Thank you for the help.

[Q] Droid Maxx. Problem with camera.

Hello. The camera on my Droid Maxx worked week and stopped. Factory reset does not help. Flashing to custom firmwares does not help too. Replacing the camera module is also not helped. In this and can be a problem and how to fix it? Repair under warranty can not, because not possible to send the phone in US. I`m have Developer Edition, and therefore I can flash than required.

Well, you need to be a lot more specific in order to get helped. When you say "worked week and stopped" - what exactly does that mean? What happens when you try to open the camera? Any error messages? Anything opens at all? Does it attempt to open but force closes? Have you tried installing Google Camera from play store?
Provide more details

Sorry for the little information in first post.
The first week the camera worked as it should. The second week when focusing image "broke" and displays "Restart the camera." Now when I run the camera just a black screen and after a while the message "Restart the camera." Install third-party applications camera does not help.

Me too iis having the same problem, hope someone help me with this problem.
It's probably the main board. I've noticed that the phone is very fragile and any drop, can result in damaging the internals. The first thing to fail is the rear facing camera.

Nothing will help except replacing the motherboard. Unfortunately.
You can also try to press firmly at some point on back cover right under the camera - it can help and the camera will start for next 1-2 times.

Gravity sensor suddenly stopped working

Hi, it appears that recently the gravity sensor in my Nexus 5 stopped working.
At least it is what it seems by using sensor testing apps. And this makes it impossible for the phone to get its orientation (compass is not working).
Screen rotation is still working fine though.
Here is what happened exactly: not long ago I was using Google Maps, but the phone was a bit sluggish so I decided to reboot it.
After rebooting I opened Google Maps again and immediately noticed that the orientation indicator was missing (the blue "beam"), while it was present before the reboot. But I didn't care about it, and just thought that the compass needed re-calibration.
After a few days the orientation indicator was still missing, and the phone never asked me to re-calibrate, as it used to do before instead.
Then one day I launched Google Sky Map, and noticed that the view does not rotate automatically.
So I fired up a sensor test app I had installed (asd.vector.sensor), and no data is displayed for the Gravity sensor. Also orientation is not displayed and the info says that the gravity sensor is used to compute orientation, too.
Other sensors are ok, and as I already wrote screen rotation still works great.
Any clues about this issue? Did anyone ever experience this?
I'm afraid a system restore would not help...
I'm using Resurrection Remix ROM, Android 6.0.1.
Thanks.
If the problem exists on a stock ROM, it could be a hardware fault.

Ok yes, but I still do not know if it exists on a stock ROM.
Taking it the other way around... Do you think there is real possibility that it is a software fault?
I mean: did it ever occur to anyone? Is there really any hope that resetting my phone to stock will fix this?
I HATE having to reset my phone...
Thank you.
I stopped using custom roms a while ago because of minor problems that would suddenly appear.
I don't think there is a way to really tell if it is software or hardware unless you reset or use a stock ROM.

Well, that's a little hope at least.
I will need to find some time to re-stock my Nexus and try.
Thanks .
Ok, I restored the phone to stock and all sensors work again now!
Thanks audit13 for pushing me in that direction .
That's great that it was a software bug in the custom ROM.
Now you get to hunt for a custom ROM that works with a minimal or zero number of issues

Rear camera sluggish

I'm facing an issue with my camera which I couldn't find anything about via a web search. So I would like to know if anyone experienced something similar?
I'm running the stock rom and didn't tinker with the phone.
Since yesterday my rear camera is really slow an only slowing blurred images. The whole phone seems to be running really slow and unable to handle the data. Switching to the front camera takes ages but once it's active it's working normally.
If I try to use the camera several times I end up with a black preview image. A reboot returns the camera to the previous laggy state.
Changing to a different camera app yields the same behavior. Could be an issue with the latest patch for Android 12 I i installed around the same time or my hardware is fried...

I would try a system reset if possible, I know its a pain but if it works problem solved, You could also try going back to a different build via android flash tool , just a couple of ideas although extreme ,would narrow it down even more to a hardware issue over corrupt software. Hth

I feared that I would have to do this. Factory reset and flashing an older version didn't help.
Now I can hear that something is moving inside when I shake the phone. Time to crack it open and have a look.
Thanks for the suggestions.
