Hey since the galaxy w got working camera (only photo)
I wanted to tell you/ show you the problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1972018
HTML:
Note for devs: In Jelly bean frameworks/av(formerly it was in base)/media/libmedia/mediaplayer.cpp setaudiostreamtype(int type) to setaudiostreamtype(audio_stream_type_t type), so overload this function and cast this argument every where to int. This makes libseccameraadaptor.so to load (at least for me)
So I wanted to start tis thread like in ICS
I know that galaxy w is very similar, but does it have this same camera chipset? I'm not a dev but if i can help, just say. If you need to find some information or do smth i have experience with custom roms.
C'mon guys.
Arco and Ivendor said they are working on it. So patience please.
Have a look -> https://github.com/arco/android_ven...mmit/50ab1001f9db6906128811dfcc90bed9b481ba3c
Thats Ancora(W) But as always arco will apply it to Ariesve too.

(correct my if I am false)
I think we should first have a stable kernel until we can work on camera

hypnos17 you repeat the same in every thread when someone ask about camera. It start to be a trolling....
The camera of the I9000 is the same as the one in the I9001 and they got it al working. So why dont the devs look at that? (just an idea)
Arco is working on camera for kernel 3.0
https://github.com/arco/samsung-kernel-msm7x30/pull/2#issuecomment-9811985
I think this thread is not bad at all. For ICS we did the same, and i think our Devs will need help with logs and tests. This time with a JB Rom and a 3.0.48 kernel. But the way to a working cam will be the same.

Correct me if i am wrong, but i think he works for camera on kernel 3.0.x on ICS not JB.
yes, sorry, i do not check where do lock reindirecting. now I'm wrong.
however, hope that thread will be helpful..waiting
Simple question - drivers for camera will work on kernel 3.1.1, etc, etc. or we need to write another for new 3.x kernel?
I don't know. I need 4 logcats:
*2 From DoomNEXUSv2 (becaus it use 2.6.x kernel)
*2 From CM10 by camcory (it use 3.x kernel)
On each rom 2 because i need logcats from 2 apps:
*Stock Camera
*Pudding Camera or Camera360
Simply run app and if it no FC press photo button (even if screen is dark, without preview), than close app.
After that we will know a bit more why it doesn't work.
I bet that libcamera.so doesnt get loaded @ all roms.
This is my first time doing log cats so correct me if I'm wrong. I opened alogcat and pressed the play button. Then I exit and use pudding camera, I clicked the snapshot button and exit and back to alogcat and I pressed the play button. This log cat is taken from pacman ROM which is also running kernel 3.0x
Is camera HAL compiling for us? I asked iattilagy(guy, who got working camera on galaxy w aokp jb) and he asked me this question
Have taken a look at the logcat.
Camera HAL not loaded, is the first thing that has to be taken care of. Just like at the beginning of camera development for ICS.
However, first step should be a working HAL, otherwise we won´t see, which libs are needed and which other stuff produces errors.

Maybe cause the Nexus' hardware is closer to the I9003's than to the I9000 ?

I have a prepared a build, it should work (at least in theory) I'll test it and maybe upload it later.
__________________________________________________________________________________
Update: I used LoLaTiOn's updater script on my port (had it for weeks but it just wouldn't boot), and the Nexus S 1.4a build instead of the Galaxy Nexus build that LoLaTiOn used, it provides for better framework compatibility, since both are WVGA phones.

Discuss anything & everything related to the new CM 10 build for Galaxy R / Z i9103 by Adam77Root here. Please report here first if you face any issues with this build and kindly don't flood the Development thread.
This post will be updated with what's working, what's not, new bugs found, etc as the discussion progresses.
CM 10 ROM Build Stage: BETA 2.3 (SEMI-OFFICIAL)
Flash / Install CM 10 ROM:
For Installation method, check the Development thread's first post.(Link has been given below).
Installation Notes:
- You can flash this over any ROM, you just need to wipe cache & dalvik cache before that.
- To avoid bugs just wipe the data partition as well / Factory Reset (But remember to backup via CWM before you do that.)
- Flash Google apps for JellyBean to avoid problems with any of the google apps.
CM 10 ROM Current Status:
What works:
- Mobile network
- Data connection / Data usage stats
- Audio
- Wi-Fi
- Video player
- Accelerometer, magnetic field, proximity, battery temperature sensors, gyroscope
- Bluetooth
- BLN feature (you need to install either the free or the paid version of BLN Control from Play Store)
- Auto brightness needs manual workaround (experimental, use this workaround to get it working: nsmart's post quoted by Adam)
- USB mass storage, MTP, PTP
- USB On-the-Go
- Camera (Can click pictures/panoramas)
- Full Hardware Acceleration with Nvidia and Samsung codecs
- CRT Off animation
- Wi-Fi tethering
What doesn't work:
- HD video recording lags
- Possibly Bluetooth tethering / A2DP
- USB tethering
- FM Radio
- Stock Sound recorder app (workaround: Use any external app like: MIUI sound recorder)
- Moving apps to SD card
NOTES: No specific notes as of now, however it'll be updated if required.

We'll need a RED camera for that which captures 1000s of frames per second.
On a serious note you could compare a device which has JB released for it by the manufacturer / has JB OOB side by side with our R.
Maybe that could give you a clue if Project butter is in action or not.

@Adam: As for the camera, bluetooth etc features that are not working, how do you plan to get them working?. I mean do we have the required drivers to get these up and running? or do we have to rely on Sammy to release an official update?
The progress looks really promising. Project butter or not, CM10 is definitely going to be a much smoother experience overall as compared to ICS. Can someone confirm whether Google Now works in this alpha version?

Yeah. The nice thing about Paranoid is it is based on CM10, so once CM has everything fixed, PA will most likely have everything fixed. It takes a long time to download the repo. Glad I have 15Mbps Internet, though this makes me wish it was even faster.

SystemUI FCs when theme is changed.

The first: thank you for posting here. You have been one of the few users, that understands the purpose of this thread.
In the repositories there are many pending changes. For this reason, there is no valid rom with date "March 7th", is smarter wait a few days to install the rom.
We do not wish to delay the changes, but these must be properly tested. When these changes can be considered validated, will be communicated to all users.
Thank you.

:good::good::laugh: I'm really happy . And feel grateful that we have hardworking people like you, ninjah ,stevodo and all . I just started this work and now I felt how difficult it it indeed . Make changes compile than flash and all that stuff is pain in ...... . I'll give my best to again make custom rom of CM10 -AOKP - PA . Least I'm capable of now :silly:
Maybe we should start a thread for specifically for reporting bugs in co10 builds. That way it keeps the porting thread cleaner. Maybe in the orignial post for it, put an outline of how to report bugs, like build name/date, issue(s) reporting, logcat attachment /pastbin, etc.

There is no point. People do not want to understand the reasons that is requested write messages in one or another thread.
Every day that passes I am more convinced that writing in our threads is like preaching in the dessert.
For my part suggest that users who really want to contribute to this project visit http://www.devsnest.com.
P.D. Sorry to be so negative, but today people with their lack of education has put me grumpy.
Greetings.

install it as usual, in TWRP...wipe system/data/cache...install .zip
(NFC drains the battery and doesn't work, uninstall it with some of the root uninstallers)

Ok what about trying to fix some bugs this time? You do a great job building all these roms but you dont actually test or do proper "porting",I'll try to help!
I assume you use this kernel https://github.com/SonyAosp/kernel/commits/lp-5.1 and everything with the lp-5.1 tag...
1)NFC not working
You patch your sources properly like sony says in it's official guide, search the ROM's github to see if they use custom frameworks, hardware layers etc..you have to patch some things up to get everything working!
Also you have to change some things in device configuration (like the NFC hal name )
You can edit the post and explain the bugs and known issues
how to install? etc etc

oh man, i dont patch anything...except a few minor things, this really goes smooth like knife through butter
i admit, cm isnt working (12/13), pac6, rr6, with Benevolent and with Sony vendor files...
honestly, i dont care about nfc (ok, a working camera would be nice but thats out of my league)...i just share what i built, roms that are acceptably ok, noone shared a rom since 11.2015 so, here are some toys to play with

Do you know of any tool that thedevelopers use? Right now, all that I use is a text editor and google search for eliminating errors. Some kind of an IDE, that would make navigating the source code easier?
Omg RR rom [emoji38] but look you cant make camera work,i will wait until it work )
Sent from my D2305 using XDA-Developers mobile app

I don't know anything android specific, but a good IDE is geany
BTW i use a text editor too (pluma)
I'm syncing sources right now (using the lollipop5.1 branch of rr) hope we use the same
Let's focus on this ROM for a while

yeah, it is on my phone right now, seems good, gave up AOKP, had to give up of some rom, I had too many on my disk. But replaced it with aosp from SonyAosp. (its uploading right now, aosp6)
i use gedit as my IDE
So ok, you mentioned something about fixing the roms that i'm posting. What exactly should i do, what to look for? Performance, light/proximity sensors?
Are some of those .so files from the stock rom (that should be in the vendor folder) + stock kernel the key to making camera, sensors etc. work in any rom?

For GPS,sensor was not working on DU6 you uploaded, the reason is that you didn't patch it like this https://github.com/omnirom/android_hardware_qcom_gps/commit/2b112bb17f7a76247d135bcae6ae87e56f4ec054
For performance,I've seen ZRAM commit on sony's github,I'll try it today and post the results
NFC works on Lollipop roms (dont try on MM it needs a new blob) but you have to use the correct naming in the device config (libnfc-brcm.conf)
Omni6 uses
Code:
NCI_HAL_MODULE="nfc_nci"
but CM12.1
Code:
NCI_HAL_MODULE="nfc_nci.pn54x"
(I'm not sure on that... @galaxyfreak knows for sure)

Yes but it's not that simple, you have to use CAF frameworks too

as for the performance, all the roms seems pretty smooth (LP & MM). As for the NFC, because I dont care about it, I dont even think about it, I just uninstall it on the first boot (maybe i should even remove it from the manifest)
One thing I noticed is that all of the roms lack the proximity and light sensor, i dont know if it is a kernel issue or maybe device tree/hardware issue (sorry, i still struggle with the terminology...device tree is the device/sony/eagle, right? under vendor folder are prebuilt 'blobs', something analogous to .dll files in windows?)
And about that Omni/CM naming, where did you find that info, I even read some info for qcom/arm/cortex, the cpu/hardware things (seemed too much to me), does one need to know the details of the inner workings of the phone's hardware in order to fix bugs?

I won't argue with you on the NFC thing I just like to have things-features working if they can work
You are correct on the terminology. Also you have to know at least how each rom works,HAL naming, flags etc
The AOSP project has simplified building and porting to new roms like A LOT! Only minor things have to changed each time...
BTW,syncing almost done...can you plz share the local manifest/sources you used for build rr-lp?

NOOOO, NO WAY, OF COURSE NOT, THEY ARE MINE, THEY ARE PROPRIETARY!!!!
(ok ok here it is)
i experiment a lot but this is the manifest i used during building the posted RR5 rom. I'm not even sure if I need those qcom/common, media, display etc. Roms seem to build fine without them. SonyCM has some Init, I have no idea if it helps, as you can see, i'm just building blindly but it works
as you could see with pacrom, it is messy....the second half is remove-project, to help sync less (also use "repo sync ..... --depth=1", it helps a lot to keep the source at minimum)
And what do you think, is there a chance for the camera working in a MM rom since there isnt even a sony stock MM rom for M2? Or should we consider changing the phone?
