"new root method" being one that has existed for a considerable amount of time now. It was only in very early root tutorials that WiFi got broken, as they flashed boot.img as well as recovery.img. It was realised that it was unnecessary to flash boot.img, only recovery.img was needed. After that, WiFi has been fine.
Noob question, if there's no need to flash boot.img does that mean that the bootloader doesn't need to be unlocked? What is this "new method" please share. Thanks,

U have to create an account on www.htcdev.com

Its the same process, probably since they've started. I don't know but this is exactly the method that I attempted before. I couldn't find the android-sdk-manager.exe, to run it and find the adb.exe and the other adb dll file. For the fastboot.exe I couldn't find it in the fastboot file after I unzipped it. I tried the fastboot that they give you and I found an exe there but not sure if that was the right one? The command box didn't go to the folder that I created and where I placed the files. To many questions, not enough answers. Might have been that the files where outdated or maybe its not as easy as it sounds, I could see it clearly in my head when I read the instructions but can't translate it to an actual working process on the computer.

Download Android sdk from the link given by HTC from the link at steps page. And you have to extract it and click on sdk manager. Now sdk will open and it will find some update. Update the files given in the steps page. If you didnt update them correctly you cant get those files. Now you should go to the same folder that you extracted to see those files and their path is given in the steps page. Copy those files to a new folder you created and proceed. Still if you didn't find files, pm me. I'll help you

You say download android sdk, you mean the 300+mb full package that is to the right in the download page? If I sound unsure its because I'm jaded by this, I've downloaded this and have had multiple attempts at it with no success. I will attempt it again in a couple of weeks, if it doesn't work I'll pm for help then. Thanks...

When I go to htcdev and android SDK there's no android SDK on mine, I get a SDK bundle. 300mb that don't work. Maybe because of where I am, what's the link you used, or do you have the three files I need? That might be easier.

Ah ok, and whats the command for it? Sorry, for all these questions but tbh I was never deep in the software scene or else.
Do you still have root? You can just use root explorer to copy it over to system/app/blabla.apk
But for adb you have to mount the system, then push the files. This is enough info for google keywords
However, from my experience the x10 doesn't like reinstalling system apps. Best chance is to back up everything with titanium backup and reflash.

Hi webstar1,
thank you for the hack! Unofrtunately it doesnt work on my megajump. I use Motorola Defy with Motoblur and have a different folder for the GSGPrefs.xml. It is in /data/data/com.getsetgames.megajump/shared_prefs/GSGPrefs.xml.
I killed the app and changed the mp value but when I start the game it gets back to the original value in the file and in the store. Has this been fixed?
Edit: OK I got it! You hava to delete the .bak file, which is created when you edit the original one

I made a flashable zip for Google Now based on This Thread
Theres a lot of different methods and files out there but some of the other methods dont seem to work for everyone. This one has worked for me and some others on ViperS rom specifically, and made it flashable for a very easy installation. Should work on all ics roms.
Note: Sorry for any issues earlier, hope all is fixed now.

Thanks for posting this. I got GNow working on my Sensation (Running ARHD) yesterday by following the instructions found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29756226&postcount=2856
I downloaded "mikeyxda APK version 2" Offline/online. It's easier to get working and doesn't require any deleting. Just a simple flash via recovery, confirmation of settings through a file manager and you're good to go.
Hope this helps anyone else. Screenshot attached for good measure.
To install an app the PlayStore wont let you install do the following (You will need at least one device compaible with the phone)
Install ESFile explorer on the Device with the working App.
Tap On App Manager then Select and HOLD the Application you want.
From the List Select Back-Up
Then Back out back to the first page, and find the Backup folder, and go into it, then into the Apps folder.
Your see the APK backed up.
Then Press and HOLD, and select SHARE.
Share the file to your DropBox
You can then grab the file on your PC and install anyway you see fit.
If you have Unknown sources ticked, you can also then open Dropbox on the Nexus 7, navigate to the folder you shared it to, and install it from there. (Simples)
You could also share the file Via Bluetooth, I have not tested to see if it will let you install the file, but I cant see why not) (Thanks for the idea Gogeta)
I installed and am now using BT Smart talk this way.
Hope this helped someone.
If you find a simpler way please post it.

If you go to /system/data/apps all installed apps go in there, as far as i know. Is this what your trying to get? That way you can skip the backup and save any space that it takes up.

Or, you could use Quixer to send it straight over to the other device, no matter the distance. I like the Bluetooth idea as well though, that would be the easiest for single, close range sharing.

If I managed to help, please say Thanks.
