I have downloaded a Windows CE emulator and have ground my way up the learning curve. (I am a Mac person!)
I have managed to install and run MioPocket and ceFFM, in the emulator and on the actual unit, but after reading some negative comments I am reluctant to continue with MioPocket on the unit.
The navigation software is NavNGo Igo8 and I am happy with that. I only made one alteration, to get it to switch to map view at start up.
The in dash unit works well in the modes I have played with. The radio is good in country NSW (Australia). The CD/DVD player works. The bluetooth syncs with my Samsung Android phone and I have loaded the unit with my address book.
My only complaint is the in the iPod interface.
It connects to the iPod well and the interface allows you to select by Genre/Track/Artist etc. The only problem is that the pop-up screen listing the Tracks/Playlist does not stay on screen for long enough.
I have found the software that runs the iPod .... called iPod.exe.
I can not find any way of changing the settings.
Has anyone got any ideas?

Windows CE Emulator
I used an emulator to get on the learning curve with WIN CE.
It is at google code.
Here is the address. Being a nooby I can not directly quote the address.
Roadrover
Reverse engineering of RoadRover software and new tool creation
URL: code dot google dot com / p / roadrover
The emulator comes in two versions. One with a fake GPS unit interface with non-functioning buttons (skin). The other is plain cooking variety Windows CE. In English too. Unlike the Russian ones floating around.

So you want someone to help you turn what is essentially a brick into a product so you can then turn around and sell it to them?
Damn this guy is clueless, dude android is not a cab that you can simply install on any wince device lol, it requires a lot work, for example someone would have to make a linux kernel for it, then drivers, after that make sure all these drivers work in userland android, not to mention your going to run into a LOT of problems and issues along the way, anyways like i said android IS NOT A CAB, so i would recommend selling all does "tablets" and buying there already loaded android counterpart.
Rafyvitto
Im not clueless i just got the idea about it being quite simple from reading another thread on here about install android onto the 7inch version of this APad and changing the roms on them, all i basically want todo is to put the same google android that the Apad 7 uses onto my Apad10 because they are basically the same except for the 10" screen.
It's not possible; not with your skill level at least. Return it and ask for an Android version.

Which an Android Stick Computer to choose?

I want to play Full HD movies and view photos from my PC to the TV. Therefore, I want to buy an Android Stick Computer to create HTPC. I have the following requirements:
1) can handle 1080p without problems;
2) has comfortable controls (probably need a remote control);
3) price less than 200$ (if you really need, you can increase my budget);
4) good antenna for receiving Wi-Fi signal (in a room, where there is a TV, signal is 20%);
5) the existence of a memory card slot;
6) support XBMC;
7) powerful processor and graphics accelerator.
I tried to search the Android Stick Computer. However, there are a large number of different devices.
I will be glad for any advice.
Are my requirements too strict?

There is no best andoid stick. You must compare it with the best phone, tv or the best home / garden.
What is the best is personal your personal favorite. To run XBMC you must search a neon capable usb key.
Supported processors are find on the xbmc wiki. Search for Android hardware.
My personal favorite is the RK3188 (quad core) processor.
I am studying this issue for several days. I found one interesting device, which runs on android. It is http://www.vidon.me/android_blu_ray_box.htm Also, I realized that I need to choose the device, which based on OpenELEC. Although, maybe I'm wrong.

I have a chromecast... I wonder if this will supply all of the chrome cast functionality plus access to all of the other android apps... $129 is nearly 4 Chromecasts for one of these. Well there now exists an android stick with trusted support behind it.
Not that the other providers didn't provide support, dell is a large company with lits of resources.

The dell marketing seems to be focused on the work environment, and this need to connect a mouse and keyboard.
But yeah, I'd like to know too if it does what Chromecast does. Can I watch movies and cast from my smartphone? Can I mirror display?
I have purchased one of these and using it for entertainment and work. You have to create a Dell Client Connect Manager starter account and setup users there first with rights. Right now I have XBMC running on it plus netflix, hulu, citrix receiver for work and few other apps. Google play store showed apps to be not compatible with this device so I installed 1market store where I can download the same apps as the Play Store.

You can probably use Cheapcast (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.maui.cheapcast) in order to achieve what you need it to.
I have it too, with netflix the video sometimes pauses, the subtitles go out of sync and never catch up. It comes with Android 4.1.2 and the apps on play store are very limited, you can install more with 1market but some of them will not work.
Also the mouse and actions have some lag, it is not as responsive as my nexus 5 or 7, when you type sometimes it take almost a second to show the letter you typed.
I'm still looking for a way to change the resolution in my [email protected] monitor it doesnt look as windows, it's a little blur.

Mine shows only 2.9GB storage, there are 8GB advertised, how many GB has yours?
Has anyone had any luck seeing if there Is a way to get around the first setup so I can use it as a normal android Stick without a Cloud Connect Manager account?
For those that have used the Manager account to get a User set up. Does it become useless after the trial is up or is it not needed once an account is made?

Hi,
yes, I just installed another launcher via adb, thats all. google-apps (play) are already installed.
And it looks like you can uninstall the cloud connection manager via settings as well. I did not try it yet.

Dell Cloud Connect (HDMI Android) in Hotels
I have a Dell Cloud Connect, which I was hoping would work (as Dell proclaims it will) as a smallportable device to put my work desktop (via RDP) onto the TV in my hotel room - a potentially extremely attractive feature for those of us who travel a lot.
The first hotel I stayed in (San Jose, CA) had a TV with the requisite HDMI ports. I tried it in both but there seemed to be so much installed with the hotel entertainment systems (OnCmmunications and LodgeNet) that the option to choose the Input was unavailable (or had been made deliberately unavailable); I was not able to change the Input. Has anyone else found this? (One word of warning: I am no TV expert so it is possible I was being dumb.)
On return home the Dongle plugged straight into a projector and an HDMI-equipped Monitor with minimal problems. On the monitor and projector all looks a good except for the hassle of Cloud Connect.
In answer to the question above about whether you have to use the paid CloudConnect, Dell has told me "We do have a Starter version that is available. However only the 14-day pilot (pro) edition is what we send out for piloting purposes. We can however convert your pro edition to starter upon completion of the pilot." I believe the Starter Version is free and supports up to something like 15 or 25 devices.
I just got one of these. I've never owned an Android device before. I was considering rooting it. Does anyone have any advice in that regard?
Dell cs-1a13
2016 Thread Resurrection
It is not necessary to signup for Cloud Client Manager(CCM) to configure device if you select skip button during setup. However signing up for CCM does get you a newer build from Dell. My setup has a resolution issue that make all control you usually see on Android not visible. Which make setup a bit tricky. This issue will continue until resolution is setup correctly. To skip CCM setup move mouse to the bottom of the screen to select skip button that may not be visible. You can address resolution issue by opening the Application drawer, hidden in the top right due to resolution issue. Once the appdrawer is open Select AppUpdater to get all stock applications updated. After update device should now have an application named "ResizeScreen" which should address resolution issue. Not sure if this application only appears in new build downloaded as I did not find the application drawer until after I updated build from Dell.
Ensure to enable "Test Touchscreen support" in Developer options in setting to unblock applications you download that are blocked due to dependency on this setting. I was able to gain root with KingoRoot tethered root method, APK method failed. The KingoRoot SuperSU installed forces portrait resolution on all root privilege request, not good for a TV setup. Supersu I downloaded from Google Appstore works right but it seems KingoRoot SuperSu supersedes it. Devices is a little under powered compared to current Android devices, but It may still make a nice little HTPC. CPU is the same as a Samsung GS2. I am trying to figure out how to get recovery working on this device. I am wondering if I can just flash the same recovery as GS2 or will I need to compile recovery specific to this device? Specs below from CPU-Z.

Support HDMI IN DVR(PVR)
A great launcher, file manager,music player,videoplayer, Album,based on OPENGL 2.0
The following is from KODI forum:
So I received my X9 today and these are my first initial impressions:
The box:
The build quality is very good. No flimsy plastic, but a well build aluminum uni-body. It breaths quality
Good reception for 2.4 and 5ghz Wifi
A nice little VFD, but way too bright. It needs a software option to be dimmed (VFDservice)
The software (X9 UI):
Finally a good attempt to integrate various Android-apps into a user friendly launcher. Definitely aimed for the western user. No frills, but nice and minimalistic. I've used many android boxes and sticks, but they almost all lack a good launcher (just stock android) or are very Asian orientated (no disrespect intended). The Zidoo X9 really distinguishes itself from the competition with this UI!
It has a few (cosmetic) translation errors
For those who are new at media-boxes, it is easy to work with (a very good WAF). No need to use the underlying Android-OS (4.4.2)
For those that are more experienced, it needs to be more configurable (see suggestions)
The software (others):
It comes Pre-Rooted! Very nice! User can access the whole file system with SSH or ADB. All settings needed to install third party apps are set (use unknown sources, usb debugging, etc)
Could not use Google Play initially (with Google account enabled). It says "Check your connection and try again". Installed Aptoide and updated Google Play
The built-in explorer is divided in sections (music, video, image) which scans local memory, attached usb devices or SDcards. The file chooser that follows could be less colorful in my opinion and could make better use of screen availability. Its color settings, font-size and column-width should be adjusted by the user. The fourth File option can make use of all local media or network shares. The context menu, however is still in Chinese
The mediaplayer does a good job. Tested only mkv's though. Fast skipping forward and backwards. Reads external .str files by default, but I learned if a fiddle with the subtitle settlings, I sometimes can't display them anymore. Also the fontsize could be thicker and use a shadow backdrop instead of a red frame.
It has some translation errors (cancle instead of cancel)
The Music Player initially looks nice but has no filter whatsoever in the playlist. It flattens all music files found and shows no filtering in artists, albums etc..............A non-usable app
The Image viewer has some nice transitions, but its media-scanner scans hidden files and folders and the shows numerous thumbnails created by third party apps like XBMC. Also the app crashes a lot
The Game player opens with featured Air Mouse Games. That's a little strange because the remote only has 4 directional mouse steering and no gyroscope (at least I could not get it to use as an air mouse). Did not test games but I presume they run well given the hardware
Finally XBMC. After all, it's the de facto multimedia player. Being a looooong time XBMC user, this HAD to run smooth. And it does. The remote runs swiftly through the menus with no delay whatsoever, but is can use a better button remapping. Multimedia content is added swiftly with the use of content scrapers en consequently played very smooth. (using on a LAN). I’ve only tested HD .mkv content. I’m no video purist and don’t watch 3D content, which in my opinion is a hype soon to be forgotten……….at least with glasses.
I’ve also installed the latest Kodi RC3 and initially noticed no differences in playback or CPU use. I did notice it was not possible to use Audio Passtrough
Suggestions:
System
Standby/Sleep support. The system cannot go to sleep. The android system setting does have a sleep mode but it only dims the screen. The X9 UI only has a screensaver. It must be physically made possible on a device like this. Your average android tablet/phone also can.
Dim the VFD
Add "cifs.ko" (+ support libs) to the kernel for mounting Samba shares at boot. With these present all Android apps can use network shares, not just the ones that support it
Interface
The X9 UI should be more configurable (for the advanced user)
- Theme the main tiles. The UI has theme possibilities but only changes the background. A dark background should also incorporate darkened tiles (grey scales, for instance). A brighter background could have more colorful tiles (like they are now)
- Disable the edit (+) button. Show only when needed
- Sort apps in the submenus
- The possibility to start an app immediately from the main tile (like the Google play tile) instead of showing a sub menu
Better/thicker/more colorful highlight frame in webbrowser. It's sometimes really difficult to find the cursor position
Change the mousepointer into a "normal" one. Get rid of the ugly little hand

Zidoo x9 (as a media extender) with Ceton Infinitv 6
I'm trying to find out if it's possible to use the Ceton Infintv 6 on a Windows 7 Professional PC and then use Zidoo x9 (Android Box) or Pipo x7 (Windows 8.1) to access the live channels as well as stream recorded content.
Anyone with any info would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds crazy. InfiniTV 6 ETH supports CableCARD and connects to any U.S. cable system to receive all SD and HD digital cable channels without needing a set-top box.
Hi there. me too heve this fast and great box.
I just wonder if there is a way to build a loop recorder on the HDMI port. A Timeshift.
Exist yet the recorder and the Zidoo developers release the recorder app code.
Do you think someone could create a timeshift app for this machine?

Its not an "Xtrons" - Xtrons are a seller only, it will be from one of the MTCB/C/D manufacturers, to find out which go to settings/about device and see what 2 or 3 letters come before the "MTCD" in the MCU field. Other people do have these units - look in the MTCD forum, hopefully this thread will be moved there soon.

As I ve said, Xtrons is a seller only so there is no "Xtrons firmware". What MCU is it ? Once thats been established we ll know who makes the firmware and its possible you can use the firmware from other MTC PX5 units just as you could, for instance use Klyde MTCB PX3 firmware on a KGL MTCB PX3 unit.
MCU-Version MTCD_GS_V2.15_1
CPU 8 core 64-bit CPU Coretex-A53 @ 1.5G

Hi folks,
I got my Xtron today.
Now I have a question. I have a USB stick Huawei E173 (unlocked for Voice) connected with SIM card for data and telephony.
Unfortunately, the telephony does not work. I have installed a telephony app (RocketDail).
Data usage works without problems but when I call the number of the SIM card nothing happens.
Thx for Help and sorry for Google Translation.
Hello
1. Will shipping also be possible from Germany or another European country?
England is unfortunately already out of the European Union.
2. Can I get this device from root already?
I'm rooted because I have several programs that I need to run root, or Super User.
3. Will there be any price reductions planned in the near future?
4. Will it not be a problem with the reception of weaker FM radio stations in Europe? I am from Poland and I had a MTCD GS 1.34 device with 1 GB of ram but not from Xtrons and there the FM radio was very poor.
5. How is the audio processor? Quality is as good as the original Skoda car kits?
Can you compare with the Swing radio from Skoda?
6. What is the brightness of the display? Is it strongly visible in the sun?
Regards
