With Rockplayer from the Android Market you woun't ever have to convert a video again. It plays all formats including mkv out of the box!
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
I use SUPER ©
Yes use Rockplayer
After second "Rockplayer" - it really does away with having to spend hours converting "most" movies
somebody really still converting?
Yes, I still do it, because movies take less space on my SD card once they are in MP4 (with the right format) instead of original format.
I cannot change movies every nigth, I have to store 6 or 7 for the week... (and music, and pictures, and...)
thank you
thank you guys
i will try it all..
and yaa instead of direct copy i prefer to convert it becoz it take less memory on my SD card thats why
but you can save much time with bigger sd-card an the rockplayer...

So which media player is good to play HD video in MP4 format? Rockplayer or Super?
Guys,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJPbozRomX4
With no success and the video become stuck when it reached : 2:44
Let me know if anyone can overcome this problem, thanks.

SUPER is NOT a media player, its a video converter to use in your PC.
on my X10i (unbranded) the SE Mediascape video player plays better than Rock player, the sound is in sync more than Rock player for example.
I have also used "IM TOO" but found it very slow. (1.5 hours to encode a 30 minute episode of Alan Partridge.
I now use WinX DVD Ripper winxdvd d0t c0m (no I dont work for them).
If this is spyware or whatever please let me know, but in encodes a DVD film in 45 mins (even a Disney one with all that special encoding)
My question is....
"what is the ultimate setting for encoding a DVD to MP4 for the X10i?
Please do not reply if you are just guessing, the X10i does not like frame rate 30 for example..
thanks
x2 on using Super as the video convertor. It's free and it offers more features than most other video convertors.
but with RockPlayer (and yxplayer for some files) I no longer need to convert. my 16gb only stores documents, some pictures, and videos but no mp3 since i'd rather listen to streaming internet radio than download mp3s.
the "best" video setting will depend on how you rate video quality. imo, for smoothness and when you are watching movies, i'd go with 23 fps or less, and have high bitrate but reduced resolution (above half the resolution of the lcd display).
video conversion speeds depends mainly on your video converting settings (format, bitrate, resolution, etc.) and your CPU power, not the software.. just fyi.
I am currently using xmedia recode.
I use the settings for the Motorola Milestone when converting, as for some reason the X10 settings mess the audio up.
Pretty quick, and audio/visual sync is spot on
It doesn't matter what to use.
for example, I convert films from my 720p/1080p hd collection, using parameters, such as 854x480 resolution, 160 kbit audio bitrate and 1000-1200 kbit video bitrate.
And it looks like I watch a real hd video! The picture is perfect! Enjoy
Oh, and I noticed, that it's better to use h264 codecs with *.mkv container than mpeg4 with .mp4 and .avi
RockPlayer is the best for my monster-like videos Avatar with 1200 video bitrate and near 2gb file size works without any lags. This is the power of nice program code (thx for RockPlayer devs) with the connection of Snapdragon processor

Video converter?

What video converter should I use so that I can convert my HD MKV movies, to a compatible format that I can play on my HTC sensation.
I have a mp4 video and I tried playing it on Dice Player but it says that the license is not valid whenever I try playing the video.
Either way, I prefer to convert the video to a compatible format because then I can have a smaller size file, and still high quality.
I want to be able to chose the bitrate on video and audio. ?not just that, but I want to be able to choose the qHD resolution.
Do not use cracked version.
Buy Diceplayer.
your diceplayer is cracked or not verified from Google license program.
If you are paid user, contact [email protected]
I use mkv file converter. You convert to avi, divx,mpeg4,h.264, you name it. Search key word"mkv converter" on google & you'll get ton's of hits.

well bro if u have a cuda enabled nvidia card and want a free all purpose converter for all devices u can ever have including blu-ray..... simple hv freemake video converter from http://freemake.com/....i encode 1.5 gb file with nvidia for sensation in under 8 mins...that too at 1920*1080 h.264 6mb bitrate..... absolute sweet
Copy this attached short sample http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32412858/unstoppable5.mp4 on fone run and c the absolute quality...its full hd..and in under 7 sec to convert.....afterwards tell me was my suggestion worth it.....
Never let me down with any video I've tried playing. Download off site not market, I havent tried on sensation yet but have used it on all my other android devices. Its hardware accelerated so should do some damage if it runs on sensation.

[Q] Can someone upload a 10s MP4 format movie?

I am really desperate to get sensation next month.. My only concern is its recording in 3GP format which None of the HD media players support..
I want to play an Mp4 format movie on my HD media player. I heard Sensation car record in mp4 now after 2.3.4 update..
Just a short 720p and 1080p (5-10seconds) video is enough to test it..
Thanks
I just recorded a video at 1080p and it only does 3GP - no option to change to MP4
Read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078414
Then why is it so that few members Here said they could record videos in Mp4 format?
Do i have to install a custom Rom to get that option?
Possibly, I'm using my own ROM based on the XE RUU and recording at 1080p does it in 3GP. Whether using lower quality uses MP4 I don't know
T-Mobile USA Rom has been changed to MP4 for recording format. I'll see if I can upload a quick video to mediafire.
There you go.

Hey thanks that really helped... Its playable on my HD media player..... Cant play those 3GP video ****ty formats... I dont know why HTC adopted that? they should have realized that we watch HD movies on TV with Mediaplayers. No on PC everytime...
Should I consider that the same codec will be ported to other stock roms aswell?
btw... u had to record a pixeled video of tv.. for first second i got scared that it has such a bad quality recording then my eyes fell on TV frame..
Is that an indoor video taken in low light? I know all mobiles mess up recording indoors... but I expect sensation's Video quality to be equal or maybe better than SGS2 atleast...
I know in stills sgs2 is better but Video looked quite the same in both sets in youtube video samples..

How to reduce size for mp4 format videos taken by O3D?

...so yesterday I filmed fireworks underneath London Eye, since it lasts for 13min in size it's 1.4GB, I wanted to reduce it's size to smaller to put it on youtube, otherwise I'm at the moment with broadband and they are really unstable regarding connect. I tried vegas 7.0, but for some reason it doesn't recognize .mp4 file and sometimes it does recognize but makes this 13min video into 108h video and then it just freezes (app).
any ideas?
Happy New Year to everyone by the way!
You can use virtualdubmod on a windows pc. Load the video into it and save the video as an avi with xvid compression. Virtualdubmod and the xvid codec are both freeware and googling them will find the download links for you.
Also if you want to edit the video virtualdubmod can do that easily.

You can use this free windows program http://sourceforge.net/projects/mp4cam2avi/ to patch video header and make it a standard mp4 that any software can open

tried this app, but it doesn't shrink size, just convert into AVI, that's all. Thanks anyway.

for some reason it can't recognize .mp4 video what I filmed with O3D and tried the other recommended app which turns .mp4 into .avi's and it still shows some error about:
Couldn't find decompressor for format 'H264' (unknown)
The mpeg4avi program only fixes the video header so any software will read it as a h264 mpeg four video file.
After patching it you can use the new version, it defaults to calling it videout.avi, in any progran to edit it.
If your choice of program can't read it you just need to install a h264 codec like this one at http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/ as that lets virtualdub see the video.
Basically you need a h264 codec, an xvid codec, virtualdubmod and all you do then is....
1. In virtualdubmod choose open file option and load your video
2. For compression choose xvid and set it how you want or leave it at its default setting
3. Choose to save avi. It will reduce size based on your settings for compression.

tnx, it cut size in bout half, but still 700mb for 11min, tried to edit it in Vegas 7.0, but it just recognize only sound, not picture.
Vegas nay need a direct show h264 filter like the free ffmpeg one as opposed to the vfw one I linked to.
You can get hd video down to about four hundred megabytes by trying different settings such as lower bitrate in xvid or setting it to have a quantiser of more than 1. The easiest way is encode a short thirty second clip in virtualdub to test different settings. On youtube some similar length hd videos are as small as 250 mb but it depends on your compression settings mainly.

You have to have full processing on. It can only be off for things like converting framerate that do not require changes to the actual video itself. But you should be able to get good results with bitrates as low as 1500 k its just a case of finding compression settings you prefer.

[Q] Best way to Convert Videos for WP7

Hi,
All my videos collection are either FHD (1080p) or HD (720p).
Many of the videos are in mp4 or .mkv format
I want to convert these videos to Wp7 so that it can play them in FULL screen.
Any software(free/paid) and settings to convert better without loosing quality
Zune does for mp4 files, but it's not very good in terms of file size. one of my video is 130mb (1080p) and converted one in phone has 120mb (aaaahhhh).
Please.

I use Vidcoder which is very fast and does a great job. In order to get the best result for my HD7, I use the attached Preset.
