Jellybean 4.2 Camera/Gallery for TF700! - Asus Transformer TF700

I take no credit for this first and foremost. Just sharing what i found. I am running CleanRom2.3 with clemsyn 1.8OC kernel. Reboot to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik and flash this zip and boom, gorgeous!

Does the photo sphere thing work on this version? I tried the one androidpolice posted a couple of days ago and that feature was not yet supported for the tf700.

Comfirmed working on cleanrom. I'm using it.

Photosphere will start for me, but just close right after I align it. I got my .apk from another source. Everything works perfectly including the photosphere on my Epic 4G touch. Unfortunately, I don't know of a script (.so) that would fix this. So it might be inside the .apk.
If any dev's wanna take a look at the .apk I'm talking about I can direct you to it.
Add: p.s. The photosphere rocks!

Photosphere still doesn't work here, Camera app is closing after the first photosphere shot, tested on CM10.

is this using the full GAPPs zip or the updated/patched camera that i attatched?

Is it possible to uninstall this package in some way? I want to keep the gallery but would like to get rid if the non-working camera (photosphere)
Thanks!

No unfortunately not. In 4.2 camera and gallery are tied together in one app.

Can anyone CONFIRM through THEIR own use that the photosphere functionality does in fact work properly under ANY ROM?

It will not work with the Asus Hardware imo. Well not until Asus release a 4.2.x rom that has a compatible photosphere version for people to steal

This is thoroughly disappointing as I just moved to the TF700 from the Galaxy Note 10.1 due to the lack of any usable keyboard situations, it worked wonderfully on that tablet.
Why do people post photosphere capable iterations all over the internet (multiple devices) claiming outright that they work....when they simply do not, how do you not even test it before using it lol.
Im sorry if I seem rude, but it's very frustrating. For what it's worth, I just tried the given patched files on my TF700 running CleanRom Inheritance 3.3, If any other version of this or any other rom is KNOWN to be working, I would loooooove to hear about it.

it does work
I am running cromi 5.1 and google photo sphere andere it works perfect. I flashed the photo sphere zip from cromi 4.7 threat.

[Q] ICS Camera and changing kernal in superlite-5.1

Hey guys,
I am new to all of this but managed to successfully flashed the superlite-5.1 rom to my Rogers Galaxy S2. Big thank you to mhx (I tried donating but your paypal wouldn't accept because in not in the US)
The Rom is working fine but there are a couple of features that it doesn't contain that interest me.
1. The camera app - Is it possible to have the same camera that's available on the stock ICS (with the live video effects...)
2. Can I flash romracers kernal with this rom? I only want to do this for bln support. Is there another way I can get bln?
Sorry if my question sounds dumb, I have spent the last couple days reading through the forum trying to educate myself with the android dev.
Thank's for all your help

No not until we get kernel source, no bln
AOSP camera is available, check the aosp apps thread, and as xcrazy said, no bln til we get source. And yes u can of course use romracer kernel with mhx, i thought that was the default one anyway. If its not mhx is using mohan_kr's, which for your purposes is identical, no real point in switching

pretty sure he is talking about romracers gb kernel, which would not work with ics.
romracers unsecure ics kernel is fine to flash, but if hes using superlite, he is already using that kernel.

[Q} camera app in cm10

Just installed cm10 but I could not find the camera app. Briefly looked through the 2 official threads but could not find a link. could someone provide guidance? thganks
The camera app is there, under Camera. It is the stock AOSP camera, not the Sense camera, if that is the confusion
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
dont know whether im blind or retarded, but I really can't find it. I even looked into the rom zip file and into my system/app and I dont see a camera.apk
I don't think there is a camera.apk. The camera is inside gallery.apk.
No camera here.
Camera folder in gallery.
I think we are looking for the actual camera app or apk.
Are you upgrading from CM9 without wiping?
I had to wipe system to get the camera app in CM10 to show up.
The wiping also fixed a few other problems like the ICS voice search was still installed as a system app and taking preference over the fancy JB one.
So many wipes and no go.
Does anyone here have the apk?
Or does anyone here know where to get it?

Running it on 11/06 CM10 nightly, no issues noticed, aside from the known camcorder issues. The keyboard is pretty cool!
Jesus. That gapps is twice the size of the 4.1.2 gapps and larger than my entire ROM+kernel+modem.
Currently running on CM10 Nov 11 nightly, and I'm having an issue with the clock/timer. When I'm running a timer I am told it stops working any time I leave the app, either by switching to another or just hitting the Home key. Opening up the timer again shows that it is still running. I've also had issues with the phone locking up while sleeping, but I'm not sure if that's related yet.
Any thoughts?

Just had a question. Every time I update my nightly build, I have to reflash the android 4.2 apps (gmail won't be there). Is this normal or does it have to do with how I put the gmail.apk in /system/app after a flash?
You could do what I've done, make your own gapps. Put the Gmail apk into the gapps zip. Start with an existing gapps zip, open (not extract) it, navigate to system/app, delete the files you want to replace and drag/drop the new files to replace them.
Pretty easy if you ask me. I've managed to make a gapps zip that replaces the system font, copies all of the necessary libs for dsp manager, flashes a multi-dpi play store, and flashes some inverted apps that I want. Pm me if you want some tips.

Yes, you should be able to remove things you don't want and add things that you do (be aware, there are some config changes that need to be made if you want to install anything to /data).
I adjusted my gapps file last night to include some of the 4.2 apps, but I'm getting a clock FC every time I reboot, which is strange. I will have to take a step back and add only what I really want for now.
What is what?

What exactly is included in the two links you copied? The first is KDH's gapps package, and the latter is Google Wallet? But when we follow the link to the original post in the GNex forum, the OP also includes "INVERTED 4.2 GAPPS + AROMA BY justin860" which seems to contain far more *and* is inverted?
I'm just trying to understand because I've never flashed anything but the basic 4.1 gapps with CM10, but I'd really like to try the 4.2 stuff and would prefer dark/inverted (for battery life and the sake of my eyes). But I'm confused by the plethora of gapps offerings, even just those in the Gnex post.
Honestly, I don't know what is included. I was just copying the download links to paste here so everyone knew it was available.

I've never used Swype so I can't comment on that. I do like the 4.2 keyboard. I've used TouchPal as well, and I own SwiftKey (haven't seen the SwiftKey swipe version yet), I find them all to be comparable.
Oh swipe is the new thing, I never got into swiping it just seems lazy to me. I use Perfect Keyboard Pro so I can set it up in dvorak layout. It's either that or I talk.

I use CyanDelta app from Playstore. when nightlies are released, it only downloads the pieces I need (avg. 6 to 12 mb). then in CyanDelta settings, you can configure any zip's you want to flash after update. I flash my kernel (kk .12) and this gapps package, minus Chrome.
it really works amazing.
- notifies when nightly is available
- reboots into recovery, installs update
- then installs any additional zips
- then reboots and away you go.
I install every nightly, have had no RR or SOD.
just my two cents.

Has anyone made these inverted? I know they're recent release but I figured I'd ask.

shouldnt hurt anything..BUT make a nand for ****s and giggles.
I'm running CleanROM 3.1 (ICS) deodexed. I cleared my cache and flashed this zip. Now I'm having issues with Chrome (error message about some critical component missing and crashes), Clock (crashes immediately), and Gallery (crashes when I try to edit a picture). Aosp is flawless?
i'm on Synergy R106 release, and the new 4.2 camera and gallery work great! love the sphere and all, and came with the rom.
HOWEVER: i have tried to install on AOKP and am missing something, as i can't get more than one picture before all hell breaks loose. well, not really all hell, but the camera FC's and locks up, and then get message that i can't access the camera. dirty flashing rom over it, or restoring nand fixes everything, but would really like to get it working on AOKP or CM10.
Can someone please confirm if this works on CleanRom ULE 3.1 or CleanRom 4.0? Greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Well guys, everything works perfectly. The gallery was a little flickery at first but things have since settled in. FYI it installs the normal AOSP "Launcher" so you will have two to choose from but you can always default to the TouchWiz launcher and create shortcuts to the 4.2 apps (Camera, Gallery, Clock, Etc).
My install procedure:
1. Reboot to recovery
3. Clear Cache (not sure if this matters)
2. Nandroid Backup
3. Install Zip from link http://d-h.st/wBX
4. Fix Permissions
5. Reboot
I assume this does not work on stock non rooted 4.0.4? The reason I ask is that I read in another thread that if you put the 4.2 camera .apk in the system/apps folder than you can get it to work. I can access system/app through file expert. Is that different than system/apps on rooted devices?

There's a newer thread right here on XDA:

It even has themed versions of some of the 4.2 apps.
Also it was updated today (NOV8), but I dunno if that makes a difference.
I wonder if I could make an aroma installer with choices for which apps you want to install, and fixes for keeping or removing duplicate apps?
I'll give it a shot.

That is correct. The Android 4.2 apps will not work on any rom based on android version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). You must have a JellyBean (Android 4.1 and up) based rom to use the 4.2 apps.
Another note, in oder to get the camera to work on any rom you need to copy over the appropriate libraries to /systen/lib, the two that I have found usefull are as follows:
libjni_mosaic.so
liblightcycle.so
I haven't flashed any 4.2 app zip beacue I prefer to control what is going where on my device, so I only know that this works with a manual installation.

I'm running my own cooked version of VRBLI5 with only root, bash, nano, busybox added. And the camera works fine.
Ta,

4.2 camera

Anyone else tried the 4.2 camera on an ao-p 4.x rom for our phone? I'm running it now on cm10 and finally, finally...not only am I not sacrificing the good camera for the good everything else, but the new cam takes full advantage of our hardware, even better than the htc shipped sense camera.
I'd post a link to the zip I used, but i'd then feel liable for brickage. There's a few zips out there on this site. Install with full precautions.
Zeroshutter lag returns...only it actually is close to zero this time. Low light is amazing.

Can you pm me the zip?

I too would like a Zip.
Also, would this camera work on the PACman rom?
Go in, post it. Or link to the thread you got it from. What could possibly go wrong?
(Anyway, we're all adults and I'd far rather try from the one you used than take a punt - far more likely it'll go wrong.)
Yes, please. A link would be great!
If you guys flash something meant to be flashed on another device you'll probably get yourself into some big problems and maybe even a brick on our DS. You'd be much better off pulling the associated app(s) out of it & just copying them to your "system/app" folder in your ROM.

Yeah that's what a flashable zip would do, weekends is right to be carefull flashing things that don't belong on your phone but in this case I don't think an unrecoverable brick would be an issue just a camera force close

Here is a link to the 4.2 cam. Works great on the latest JellyBam for me.

I flashed the 4.2 camera and keyboard from here both appear to be working fine! I'm on a december build of AOKP Jellybean, but will be flashing latest Jellybam soon and adding on the 4.2 camera and keyboard

edit: I'm not sure photosphere is working... or at least not well

We don't have the sensor for gyro camera. I'm getting ready to try this on Paranoid v25 ( so far a private port ) but all should be well with all JB ROMS

Good point. :silly:
So camera is working without overheating (as I read this in the other thread very often)?
Btw: thanks for this link

Have you flashed the keyboard yet?
If yes: does it work properly?

I had a similar experience but didn't report on it because I had the same issue on 4.2 as I had with Swype (I was on Jellybam)... Sorry I can't help.
Just tested on Sense 3.6, 4.0.3 and the camera + the gallery work great, except for the sphere and panorama. Everything runs smoothly, I am so grateful right now that I can use this awesome camera on Sense, will test it more tomorrow
