Barerly Visible Vertical Horizontal Green Lines on Display - HTC Inspire 4G

Has anyone noticed something like this on their inspire? I have 2 barely visible greenish yellow lines on my display that you wouldn't even notice if you weren't looking for it. It's like 2 rows of pixels are emmiting a slightly off color. Is this something I should worry about?

Could be graphics chip or screen related. May become worse. Sometimes the actual cable that connects the screen comes ajar and would produce that sort of issue. Hard to say though exactly. You could try re installing ruu or whatever Rom your using and see if it goes away.

you are on STOCK ROM or custom ROM? if you are rooted then maybe you can try disabled the HW overlay... if not, try to take off the battery and see if it helps..

[Q] Grid/Lines against a gray background

I just received this phone today brand new. I rooted and ROM(NSCollab Sprint 1.0.51) since I'm fairly familiar with the process coming from a Vibrant. I noticed that when the background is a shade of gray(like a dark scene of a movie), I can see lines and grids in the background covering the entire screen. I didn't take notice prior to flashing the ROM. Is this a known ROM issue or do I need to replace my phone?
Thanks,
You probably need to download voodoo control app and adjust your color settings.

Unfortunately I've tried that with no luck. ill see if I can attach a picture of it.
I suppose if you can't see the lines when you zoom into the picture, than it must be my screen.
I don't see any lines in that screenshot. It looks perfect.

It's the screen. I recall reading somewhere about someone else having your issue though, like a whole grid coverying the screen in a darker shade. Probably read on XDA... Use the search function and you might get lucky, because I don't remember how it ended.
I got the same lines, but i think its just the screen?

My nexus s has the same effect on backgrounds of that color, and the Engadget review even pointed that out:
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/12/nexuss6001.jpg.
I don't think it's a quality control issue as it effects most of their AMOLED screens (I also saw it on a Focus and it's on my Cowon S9 too), more like Samsung cutting costs somehow. Just a fact of life with Samsung.
I guess replacing the phone wouldn't help....man I miss my vibrant screen.

Poor touchscreen sensitivity?

I don't know if it's just me but I found out while playing Draw Something that the touchscreen on the Skyrocket is not sensitive enough. I don't know if it's the phone's problem or an if it's an Android onTouchEvent() problem.
While playing Draw Something, I can touch the screen lightly and a dot appears when I am drawing. The problem occurs when I touch the screen and drag my finger a little; however, when I do this, no "ink" appears until I drag my finger a certain amount.
On my previous phone, Palm Pre, there was a homebrew patch that decreased the touch drag radius. Is there anything similar to this on android or am I stuck with this problem?
Sorry if this question has been asked before!
Edit: On the iPhone, this problem does not exist; "ink" shows up immediately when I drag my finger.
Edit2: I am Using TouchUtil and the touch screen is reading my finger's 'down' action, but when I start dragging my finger, it jumps exactly 16 pixels before the 'move' action registers. (screenshot attatched)

Ah, the flamer. How about, Please go read my sig. Or do you not know how to read? I'VE NEVER OWNED AN IPHONE dumb ass .
I am not complaining, merely pointing this out.
Hmm? Is your Skyrocket's touch screen any better than mine? Didn't think so.
Get an iPhone then maybe you can be a douche. Just maybe

Try flashing sky ics, the touch screen is way more responsive than in stock.
Edit: nevermind, just saw your sig.
is there any way to objectively test the sensitivity?

Well, I tested the screen using Touchutil and the amount I move my finger before the program recognizes my finger is 16 pixels. Proof in the screenshot attatched in the OP

It's the way android is made. You can't fix it, the OS has a lower IRQ than touch (exactly like desktop).
On iOS and WP7, the touch has a lower IRQ, giving the smoother impression...
I think it was Andy Rubin who explained this?

Image Burn on Screen

Hi.
I have an image burn onto the screen. How do I get rid of it? Will it go away eventually? How do I prevent it from happening again?
Device is Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 p3113
Lcd should not burn in.... does it look like clouds? I once froze an lcd screen by leaving it in sub zero temps....it was permanent damage but looked like a soft cloud behind the image.

I have seen LCDs whit image burn effect even dough I tought only plasma screens are affected whit image retention, if its badly burned I dont think youll be able to get rid of it all. On plasmas you could use specal moving images for washing burn in, you could google that and try.
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
It's burned in. The address bar with the url is visible. I see it when I change the pages and on the lock screen. It's light but visible still. I need to get rid of it because it's an embarrassing url for people to see.
So you can see this when the device is off?? If somehow you have a stuck pixel problem sometimes s a forceful push will bring them back to life. Not that I recommend that... googling lcd burn in This is a phenomenon I am not familiar with and still amazed is possible.
Edit: google says it happens some sort of dead pixel phenomenon
Apple suggests an all white screen for hours on end with backlight low..
Another person suggested a very graphic intensive screensaver over night.
Sent from my GT-P3110 using xda app-developers app
No, you can't see it when the device is off. You can see it only when the device is on. I think it's starting to fade a little. I could see it still but not as strong as it was before. Hopefully it'll be gone soon.
Update: The burned image is gone.
Next time don't watch the same porn video for hours and you won't have the URL burned in..

HI all,
Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I thought this is an appropriate thread for the problem I am seeing. I am attaching a picture of my screen.
Do you think this is a hardware problem / screen burn? or is it something that can be solved by reinstalling the firmware?
Your help is much appreciated
Thanks

That definitely looks like a hardware problem. Software problems wouldn't have a faded edge to the error like that.

Capacitive lights are not brighter after update!

Are yours any brighter? I truly think not! This was my main reason for trying to get this update ASAP but I am very disappointed that they didn't make them any brighter.

for me it's the same thing
and unfortunately i don't think they can do something coz it's a hardware issue
Are by any chance on the stock kernel 30O?

My friend got his yesterday and came by my house for me to root it etc, i had already updated to 4.4.4 (the second ota aswell) and his capacitive buttons were actually brighter than mine (he was 4.4.2 and i was 4.4.4).
That said, no, they did not get brighter.
While I agree they don't appear any brighter, its really a non issue for me. After a few days of using the phone, I already know where the buttons are.
No one cares... Although I agree I notice no difference
Obviously people care if they are posting in this thread. Have a good day

Who has a Korean S8 with the red tint?

Hi,
Just wondering who received the OTA in Korea and had a device with Red Tint?
Did it allow you to set the white point and completely eliminate the Red?
Is there anything else to the update?
Is the phone smooth, smoother, less smooth post OTA?
Thanks for letting us in the US know what to expect.

I read somewhere that Samsung will release an update to remedy the red tint.. or all tinted phones for that matter.
Yes. That's what an OTA is. They got it on some carriers in Korea yesterday.

Are you sure it's not the Blue Tint Filter in the display settings? If you turn it on the screen does turn a little pinkish/red...

No its not. Read the countless articles from major news sources. It's an adjustment issue. They need to expand the calibration levels. Then you can tune it out. That's the OTA that was just released in Korea. It will hit the USA next week per Samsung.

The silence on this red tint issue is deafening. Is Korea allowed to participate in posting on XDA I wonder now? The supposed update to fix the red tint was released a day ago and I've not heard or read much about the results of any of them that applied the update. Did it really work or failed? Why don't we hear from any of the many Korean users who surely must have applied the update by now and can tell us if it worked satisfactorily or not. From the silence and Samsung not releasing it to the rest of the world this week ending already... makes me suspect it was not a 100% satisfactory fix. If it is a hardware display design issue... oh! oh! Samsung.
Korean who use SM-955N here. I had red tint on the edge of the screen and the update was released 4/27.
It adds the settings which users can add gradient to the edge of the screen, so users can "conceal" the red tint and make it normal.
Well in my case it worked perfectly and I am happy with it.

Yup. Exactly same as mine. The mere tint on the screenshot goes away when it reboots.
I guess it is some kind of color calibration inside the kernel?
My S8+ suffers from the red/pink glow on all 4 edges and I'm in talks with Samsung and my carrier to get my phone replaced. I'm not sure how I feel about a software "fix" when it's a hardware defect on a $1200CAD device
Got the OTA yesterday (CSC DBT from amazon.de), this is how the screen settings look now!
For some devices these fixes will work, but on uneven screens (red tint on one side of the screen, and for example yellow on the other), which most of them are to some extent, this will not improve the situation!
What does work better than expected is the possibility to change the color shifting on the edges. On one of my affected S8+ (I own 3 atm, and have seen many more for comparison) this makes the screen far better!
An interesting thing:
I own 3 S8+, all from amazon.de. Only one of them received the OTA yesterday. The 2 other ones still don't get it!
It seems this is because my 3rd device was on a march build (C something) when it received the OTA, the other ones (which did not get the OTA) are on Build (AQ)DD, because I did the DD OTA on them before!
