IM+ is available on android, and pretty sure it supports camera. you might also try Fring.

IM+ is the one i am using right now
Haven't found the possibility in that app for using the camera
Fring is only usable for making calls and not for MSN or so

Try Lilypad in the playstore

I have been using WhatsApp on my vibrant to chat with friends overseas on iPhone and BlackBerry, however the developer has no plans to support tablets :-(

This looks interesting but doesn't support BlackBerry which is what most of my contacts in Indonesia use.
Ok...what's the catch? This cannot be this good and save me money at the same time!
TextPlus is awesome!
Before I cancel my texting plan on two phones....can someone tell me something I need to know?
It's just too good to be true.
I tried to install it on my transformer via market and it says its not compatible with my country. I live in Canada so guess its a no go for us canucks

It's a free app so maybe you could try and sideload it? (get the apk.file, install with a file manager)

I managed to find it from another website, I have tried a couple versions now and did finally get one to work. Textplus does work pretty well, sent a few messages to my g/fs phone and back and no lag at all.

This is really cool, but is there a way that I can have something such as google voice mirror my personal number to my textab number? You know, so if say, my wife texts me to mycellphone, that my phone still recieves the message, but it is forwarded to my text apps' number on my tab?

This is exactly what I need. I use a flip phone for my beater, so it would be nice if the texts that come to it would also come to the TF so I can reply there when I am near wireless...
Anyone know of a way to do this?

It does. Facebook doesn't make the app for 3.x so this is the version for Android 2.x.x.
it works like a charm, thanks mate

Thanks for this OP. I was disappointed that I couldn't get fb to work anymore without using the browser.
I installed it without uninstalling my existing fb app first and it didn't work. It FC every time I opened it.
After uninstalling and reinstalling again, it now works like a charm.
Gave "Thanks"
Thanks for this

Does anyone know if this means it will add sync for facebook contacts? Kinda missing that on my TF.
EDIT: Welp, I might as well should of just installed it to answer my own question. I did. It synced my contacts. Now I can post pictures to facebook.
This definitely is better for chat than the browser but I don't think it will notify correctly?
Anyway, thanks for posting the APK!
Me too. If I click Friends its going to FC. anyone else having the same issue?

[Q] does this app exist?

hi
i would like to know if there is an app that allows you to send text messages through your phone using a tab.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
TexTab uses Bluetooth connection between the two-works really well. There is TexTab lite to try before you buy
SyncSMS works via dropbox but I can only give a mixed report, found it random and support not the best for a paid app
Sent from my Transformer TF101 currently transformed into a small bowl of Petunias
TabletTalk is another good app.
I use it cause it also notify for calls/missed calls.

Tablet Talk is a lot better than TexTab IMHO; I've used both a lot.

An app to send/receive text messages from my phone on my tablet

I don't want to have to pull out my phone every two minutes to send/read a text message while using my tablet. I used Airdroid on my computer to read and send text messages on my phone, but it doesn't work on the tablet. Anyone know of an app to do this?

I'm using Tablet Talk:

So how much battery does it actually drain while constantly listening over BT or WiFi?

Preferably something free. I don't care if I have to be on the same wifi network, that's how Airdroid works

As far as I know, there are no free options that sync between your two devices (i.e., they take care not to screw up your conversation list).

MySMS is a pretty handy app which i use regularly on my tab, pc and phone.
The UI doesn't seem to be as fluid on the tab as it does on the pc and phone though (even with hardware acceleration turned on in MySMS settings).
I've always used Google Voice.
Pro: Free txt and calling (in US)
A spare phone number.
Gmail email notification & copy of txt
Con: No sync with phone

what do you mean? The messages i get on my phone using gv, show up on my tablet as well. If someone calls my phone and leaves a message, the notification pops up on my tablet as well. Is that what you mean? Every message i send and receive using GV, shows up on both devices.

I should have explained a little further.
I use my Google Voice number to txt from a PC or my Tab 8.9 and do not use GV on my cell. I haven't linked the two numbers yet.
Due to a current medical condition I can't talk, thus the various work arounds for emailing & texting.

Awesome, free app for sms and mms from tablet

Hey folks, I stumbled upon a fantastic app that I wanted to share. It's called mighty text, it's free and it works great. You have to download the client on both your phone and tablet devices, register through your Gmail and then you can start sending and receiving texts and picture messages using your regular phone number. I've seen similar apps but they all require Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity this does not. Sorry I don't have a link but if you go over to the play store and type in mighty text you'll find it

Love it too! Phone stays in kitchen or bedroom while I am out on the deck or the family room with the tablet. This allows me to keep my phone in the charger when I'm home. I also added text to voice reader so when the tablet isn't open, it will still read all of my incoming texts to me.
