Greetings, everyone. I do not own the device, but my girlfriend does. Lately, she tried rooting her Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus GT-P6200 and asked me for help, I downloaded the correct root.zip file via my phone and sent it to her via bluetooth. After that, I made sure that it was saved on her MicroSD card and not just on the internal memory. Then I booted up in recovery, chose apply from sdcard or something like that...but then it always displays something like "No sdcard found" or something similar. Are there any ways to fix this or any other way of rooting her tab?
P.S. Forgive me if this issue has been raised before, I simply do not have the time to read other posts, threads, etc. I'm too busy with this semester in school. And I'm used to using cmd.exe for complex commands for my phone in Fastboot mode. :fingers-crossed:
Try having her transfer the zip onto the tablets internal memory instead and re-try it. I'm assuming you're using the v5.x.x CWM that aorth and/or gary built. The latest CWM that aorth built (v6.x.x) seems to have an issue with reading the external memory, if I remember correctly.

maybe you could try installing a different recovery, try the clockworkmod recovery that can be found in android development section of tab plus
continue loving your girlfriend!

oke question for TS:
1. are your girlfriend tablet use HoneyComb or already in ICS?
2. are you using CWM recovery instead of original recovery from Samsung?
if,
1. using honeycomb and haven't install CWM, download root.zip, and put it in your external sdcard. go to recovery mode, choose install update from EXTERNAL storage, reboot when finished.
2. using honeycomb and already install CWM, use the same root.zip above and put in your external sdcard. go to recovery mode, choose install zip from sdcard, choose zip from internal sdcard, choose root.zip and choose yes - install root.zip, reboot after finished.
3. using ICS and haven't install CWM, read my post here
Thank you all for the responses. I'll try to do it again sometime this week. At the moment, she's still on honeycomb and we used stock recovery from samsung. If I were to update it to ICS, I'd just connect her tab to my pc and open up kies, is that right?
EDIT: Oh, and one more thing. Is it possible for that 6.0.x cwm recovery by aorth to be flashed on this still-honeycomb tab?

about update to ICS, if u are at Austria yes u can do it through kies but if not, just download d firmware it from sammobile and apply it with odin, as simple as that..
Btw i rooted my P6200 using the stock HC and it was flawless.. good luck again
To everyone out here, is there any other way to root the P6200 model? The stock recovery always fails to recognize the sd card and internal memory.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Are you 100% sure it is on the external SDcard? By what method did you verify this?
Not being mean or dismissive at all - When I was running Honeycomb on my tab plus, the only easy way I was able to get things to the external card was to use Kies, or possibly mount via straight USB.
I didn't see an easy way to get to the external card via bluetooth or an onboard file manager because IIRC Honeycomb doesn't list the external card in the directory tree , the /sdcard and /mnt/sdcard both point to the internal card.
I never did try a simple linuxy type mount command, partly because I am not sure what the target would have been named, but of course to do that one would need to be rooted, first.

update from kies only available on Austria. Do manually with odin to upgrade to ICS.
i guess it's possible to apply CWM 6.0.1.0 by aorth on honeycomb.

have you read post number 4 up there???
So I picked up a LG g2x off craigslist for 80 bucks and I had to buy a new battery for it. I don't know much about the phone besides the fact that it has Ice cream sandwich and that I think it might be rooted. The previous owner has ROM manager on it, and so forth.
The phone allows me to text back and forth and the speakers work great EXCEPT when I try and make/receive calls, there is a loud clicking sound. I can't hear what the person is saying and they can't hear me.
I'm not very experienced with rooting and was reading that this might be part of the problem for the clicking noise? Could I just do a factory reset and maybe this would help? Any suggestions would be very helpful.
P.S. I'm not sure if this helps but the phone is running android version 4.0.4 and EBloodMod version build5-aosp.
Thank you.

What date does your baseband say? I.e. March 2012

I'd head over to the development threads. Search for new baseband fix, dL the zip, put on phone SD (preferably external SD), reboot phone while holding down power button and volume down button until u see a second LG logo, logo should have blues in it, than let go of buttons. This will bring you into CWM (recovery) select install zip from SD and depending on if u used a microsd card or the phones internal SD u need to navigate to the correct location, select the newbaseband.zip and select ok to flash. Select go back than reboot device. You should be fixed. I have same issue with nearly all Rom. This should fix ya up.

So according to that link you presented, I just save that zip to my computer, open it up and then what?
Which do I click on? META-INF or system folder? Where do I go from there?
I'm sorry I'm not very good at this haha. Is there anywhere I can find a step by step process? I just really need this phone to work as I am short on cash.

1. Download the .zip file to your SD card, the root of it, not in any folders or anything, just to the SD card.
2. Turn the phone off.
3. Hold power and volume down until you see the second LG logo(when you see the second lg logo, let go of the buttons), this will take you into ClockworkMod Recovery
4. From there, if the version says 5.0.2.0 you can use the volume buttons to scroll, and the power button to select an option. If the version says 5.8 then just use the screen to select options.
5. Go to install zip from sd card
6. Choose zip from sd card
7. Now find the new_baseband.zip by scrolling through the list, it should be at the bottom. Find it, click it.
8. Select yes-install
9. Go all the way back out, select reboot and calling should now work.

You can use any SD card, or the internal if you'd like. And you can just download it straight to your phone. Just go to the link on your phone and download it. If you have an SD card it'll download straight to the download/ folder on the sd card, so in clockworkmod you'd have to find the zip there. if you downloaded using no SD card, just select choose zip from internal rather then sd when it gives you the option.
For some reason when I click that link you supplied on my phone it says: An SD card is required to download new_baseband.zip and doesn't give me the option to use my internal SD.
Thanks for all your help so far.

Hmm, ok, there's two ways to doing this, drag and drop from your computer, or borrow an SD card. If you choose to do it from your computer, make sure you have the USB drivers, just Google lg g2x USB drivers and install them.

This is not a OTA update, it contains a full /system folder. Acer didn't pack it as a .img.
I checked the install script and it does a full /system format.
You can get the update if you go to Acer UK's website, it is a 300mb download and requires a MMC to install.
http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers
Full instructions are included in the Acer download.
I've mirrored the rom on Google Drive here: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B-J0VXwTNsoOMldCRTMzRm5tV2c

Right then I downloaded the file. Unzipped to a 2gb ad card, held the volume rocker till the message came up but then as soon as it starts updating I get the dreaded lying down android robot with the red ! Mark. Not happy mite have to sell this tab after all.
Right. First of all, format the card. And check if your image is EMEA_GB. Shut downt the tab and connect the charger. Then, on your pc, put update.zip file in that micro sd, put it in your a700 tab with emea_GB image, and while your pressing volume button with two dots, turn it on. If you followed these steps, it should work. If not, try a smaller size micro sd.
Ahhhh right do I put the zipped file on the sd card I unzipped the zip file to the sd card.

There should be a update.zip file in the file that you downloaded, and you should put update.zip file on to sd, only update.zip. Do not unzip update.zip file.
guys, I need your help.
I bought a htc one x in september 2012, rogers canada.
i did a factory reset 5 months ago and it did not touch my SD card data. I upgraded to jelly bean and did another factory reset a few days ago, not expecting it would wipe my SD car, but it did.
I am guilty of not making a SD card backup, but I just didn't expect it to be wiped, cause it wasn't the first time i did the factory reset.
So now I am trying to do a data recovery, but my problem is the PC doesn't see the SD card as a drive anymore, and neither do any of the data recovery programs i am trying to use.
I couldn't find any data recovery app that runs from the phone, which would probably see the SD card and recover files.
Any clues on how to get my data (photos, pdfs, docs, music) back?
Thank you!
P.S. did I understend well that the SD card is not actually an SD card but an integrated whatever? Why would they call it an SD card then? stupid?

Your pc won't see it as a usb device with 4.1.1 it will show as a one x in device manager and windows explorer
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
It still follows the secure digital standard so it is still an sd card regardless of being removable or not. It's not stupid for them to call it so as its well published that this device has no removable storage.
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
You did a factory reset from the bootloader, which corrupts the SD card.
I believe since its corrupted, the only way to fix it is to reformat. Once you do, your data is gone. Some folks might have other ideas. But I think this is what the answer was when the question came up before (not that long ago, maybe a week or 2 ago).
exad already answered the question about it being called an SD card. Plus, some apps access the SD for storing data, and the OS can move some app data to SD. So again, it behaves as an SD, just that its not removable. Calling it something else would be confusing.
yup, the win explorer sees it(but not as a drive...), but the other programs with which I am trying to recover data do not see it so i cannot recover.

Recovery programs won't read it, since its corrupted. You have to format it using Windows, which will make your data irrecoverable (I believe).
Mounting in recovery won't work either. It won't mount USB when its corrupted. You can still try it. But I don't think it will work.
I hoped this would work, i found it on this forum, but i am stuck on the device not found (driver?) error.
What do you think? thanks redpoint73

Solved
Thank you Redpoint for your thoughts. I hoped that I would find an easy reply to solve my problem but in the end this is what I knew I ultimately had to do.
Quick summary:
Unlocked Bootloader via HTC Dev.
Flashed Recovery, Team Win Recovery Project 2.4.1.0
Mounted SD as a drive via Recovery.
Ran RecoverMyFiles v5 and recovered the files that I lost.
Now to go ROM shopping and start again. This time I will listen to my own warning and keep a copy online.

Redpoint, do you think there is any chance that the sd card is not corrupted? Because, I have 10 gigs available on the phone now, so I think the card is working. Maybe I don't understand the terminology used here... What exactly do u mean by corrupted? Thanks
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Essentially, it's not corrupt but if you try to recover the data it will have been corrupted when you factory reset in bootloader so the data will not be usable.
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
Basically, the data is still there, but the system can't find it because the "roadmap" if you will, has been erased. It's like trying to find a specific apartment in New York City with no map and no addresses marked on the buildings. The only way to do it is to visit every single address in town.
You've got an added problem here because this lost storage is located in an unformatted partition on an external device, which may mean your PC simply isn't going to see it without some sort of specialized software. To stretch the metaphor further, it's trying to visit every address in a town you don't know exists.
I think that recovering your data should be possible with the right recovery program, but its likely to be more trouble than it's worth, and it's certain that many of the files you recover still won't be usable anyway.
Thanks, my problem is, I think, that I cannot take the card out and put it in some kind of reader. My knowledge in regards ends here. If the pc still wouldn't see it, I don't know how would I solve the prob.
It just seems incredible nothing can be done to access this card for the recovery purposes, when it is accessed right now through the pc with no problem for storage purposes.
Any further advice will be highly appreciated.

4.1 doesn't use the generic mass storage device driver. You can try mounting it through recovery, I believe that DOES use the generic mass storage device driver but I am not certain it will work. As stated previously, there's a very good chance whatever files you recover will not be working files anyway.

-Try disconnecting everything, and powering off and restarting both phone and PC.
-Try using a different cable and USB port.
This seems to happen to a lot of people, and these often fix it.

Try a Data-Recovery Program
There are Free Data Recovery programs in the World but the best one is:
IsoBuster by Peter van Hoove
---------- Post added at 09:18 ---------- Previous post was at 09:15 ----------
Surely, yes, your PC needs Administrator rights and the SD-Card isn't a big Problem because the PC has full access to the file System (Mass Storage)
Newer Smartphones only offer MTP. You can't access the Filesystem so with MTP data recovery isn't possible.
...but only if the SD-Card is inserted in the Smartphone to the PC.
Use your PC's SD-Card Slot or Adapter.
...data Recovery from Internal Storages on Unrooted devices with locked bootloader is very hard and a big problem - even isoBuster is powerless then.

Use your PC's SD-Card Slot or Adapter.
...data Recovery from Internal Storages on Unrooted devices with locked bootloader is very hard and a big problem - even isoBuster is powerless then.

...with ISOBUSTER maybe there is a chance.
IsoBuster has extremely high Recovery Rate.

Last night i updated my Phicomm e670 and now i'm stucking, staring at my phone's logo unable to start. So i decided to do a flashing myself but i would be needing the specific ROM for my phone model. Can someone help me find it? Where can i get the file? Please ...
Go to phicomm website. There you will get updated latest firmware of e670. Download it. Place it on your memory card. Then restart phone pressing power' and voume up button together in stock recovery. There u can update ur mobile to stock rom updated. Hope it helps.
Problem!
Thnks 4 da rply. I still have a problem regarding to that because when i enter update from sd card, nothing shows except sd card not mount. When i connect with cable my computer cannot detect my device. What to do? Please help..
have u download the updated stock rom (around 785mb) from phicomm website? If yes then Just place it in ur sd card by a card reader. Then insert sd card in ur mobile. Then proceed in mobile as i stated in above post. U need not connect ur mobile to pc. Feel free to ask. It should not show mounting problem if ur sd card is not damaged.
Still problem
Yes i've downloaded the updater rom from phicomm.in. My problem is that when i enter recovery mode like u said and enter update from sd card, there is nothing even though i copied the rom into my sd card (which is fine) from my pc and it still shows unmount problem. When i tried using cable, my computer cannot detect properly. What could possible be the problem? I've bought this just last week. This is happening all because i updated the system which shows about 38mb which I should have never done it.
Sorry for late response. I can understand your problem. I had also faced same issue when i updated the 38mb file because i was trying to update it without unrooting my mobile which was previously rooted by kingroot apk. After 3/4 days i have updated it using the method i had mentioned already. I m now out of idea, which caused u the upgrading issue. Small thought, did u tried to upgrade it when it was connected to pc by usb ? It doesn't need to connect to pc while installing.

Another thought. Back up sd card data in pc. Format the sd card in fat32 system in 'hp usb formatter ' (download googling it on net) or pc's native formatter applicatin in pc. Then place rom and try to upgrade as mentioned earliar.
